This weekend we did a PvP focused game; Equestria, New Mareland and Crystal Empire VS Changelings and Bears
Cadence sent volunteers to deer, unfortunately the conflict ended before any benefits could be made.
Equestria intelligence could not be matched by the Changeling VOPS. (Missed a picture of Changeling's top operative being captured)
>HI ANON I LOST NINE ENTIRE MILITARY FACTORIES!Something strange happened in late 09 Somehow after declaring independence Princess Cadence somehow made her military factories disappear. Clearly the military factories were actually a large team of skilled VOPS infiltrators appearing together as a factory.(fortunately this issue was fixed with a quick rehost)
The changelings soon began to mass on the border and ponies began to dig in.
Falling back in good order to preserve ponypower and divisions was essential.
New Mareland's tanks tried to continually breakthrough the changeling lines with no positive results in the early stage of the war.
Unfortunately the Changelings made a breakthrough past Vanhoover.
Frontline, shortly after hearth's warming.
Changelings kept trying to make encirclements, we kept pulling back but not always in time for all units.
The New Mareland armored core was nearly wiped out here; fortunately most managed to escape.
>>40329607>Deathstack of 12 tanksRookie move.
Shortly after the escape of the New Mareland tank corps the majority of the Crystal Army was encircled and trapped against the northern mountains. Stalliongrad arrived to stand with their fellow ponies but they could do little to turn the tide.
>How to confuse VOPS about your division templates with this one weird trickCrystal city fell, and shortly after Stalliongrad as well.
Nearly got an encirclement on some troops that bit off too much.
>>40328707Prostate lol
A pretty bloody war, but with new mareland safely evacuated home perhaps there is a chance for rebellion? (not likely if beaky invades NM)Good game guys.

I was the changeling player in the last game. Sadly, I forgot to take screenshots as I was too busy microing a bunch of tanks, but I figured I'd post the tank designs I was using throughout the war.

>there's no Dutch pony representationI cant even think of a name for a ponified Dutch placeNemarelands? no.Maretrecht kinda works, Marebrant and Maresterdam tooI just think they're neatbut also because I want some ongezellig references
I did another nation in the A-Z challenge that I'm doing. This time, it was Dread League.Dread League was more fun then I expected, but it wasn't that great. Sadly, due to some navel mismanagement (don't turn on automatic split off if you don't have total navel dominance or the enemy will hunt down your ships as they get to your fleet) I somehow lost most of my navy despite getting some pretty great victories and I could not invade because of that. Since I pretty much owned all of Griffonia I could have filled up its coastlines with dockyards and eventually build up to outnumber them, but at this point it was almost 1030 and ridiculously slow so I really didn't want to bother. Final victory was pretty much only a matter of time at that point.Pros:>Surprisingly fun gameplay once the war vs the world starts if you prepare for it.>The fact that you actually get to kill off core populations and turn them into ponypower really makes you feel like your playing as necromancers.>It essentially sets you up for a WC as the main objective.>Actually interesting story stuff.Cons?>Clearly outdated. Filled to the brim with long focuses.>Stupidly strict research restrictions make it neigh impossible to do anything but mass infantry spam with little to no support equipment.>You do get a decision that buffs mil production, but nothing for dockyards, which really should be needed if you start with no navy and can get into war with potentially a full on victorious harmony pact in late game.>Very slow and boring start and also because you need so much time to prepare, your pretty much left with nothing to do for huge chunks of the run.Overall, not a very good nation these days, but still surprisingly fun. I think there are more fun nations if you really want to do a WC, but also far worse. At least this pushes you towards just that. If you really want to try it out, I would advise not attacking early, even if it seems like waiting will make it worse. Remember, you can mobilize entire populations of states that you don't even core and considering the amount of enemies that you'll be facing, you will need a massive wall of divisions to stop them. I used 10 battalion infantry, which with mass mobilization was only 11 width. That worked wonders alongside sheer numbers. Also be very careful with your navy. Don't do stupid shit like I did and just focus on getting to the other continents. If you can get a good landing you should be able to overwhelm them with sheer numbers. Just don't let them kill your navy or you'll get stuck with a slow ass gamespeed like I was.Next time will be Duchy of Talouse.
>>40334922Actually decent buffs. Might not even want to fire her.
>>40334492The Dutch are represented with the Griffons in costal Feathesia and Skyfall. Makes sense given how the griffons are greedy and sneaky.

>>40335201>Who the fuck are those generals?Feathasian ones

>>40335185What a chad. Imagine not fighting everyone at once.
>>40334492Feathisia is a pun on Frisia. Gryphus has an overtly Dutch path, and Feathisian colonists have at least three nations in South Eastern Zebrica that mirror Boers and Dutch Indies.
>>40334728I agree with thisI played Dread League once and the campaign lasted for 20hrs
Did another A-Z. This time, it was Duchy of Talouse.Overall a very fun nation. I decided to go communist for no particular reason and it was pretty fun as far as commie routes go. The tree gave me wargoals and cores on the Karthinian Pact memebers and for some reason, I got into war with Sicemon once I declared on Wingbardy. They also managed to beat Asterion before I got to them so I kind of own most of the south. Pros:>Nice story bits. Clearly a lot of effort was put into the writing.>Good coring potential and even gives you a nice name and color change once you beat Wingbardy's faction.>Overall fun gameplay. you start off weak and your enemies are stronger then you, but you have a very good defensive position and plenty of growth potentialCons:>Not a lot to do early game.I really did like this nation, although I may be biased after playing Dread League, which was severely outdated in comparison. It had a fun war with nice story and was an overall pleasent experience. I would advise trying out Talouse.Next up will be the one and only Equestria.
>>40335185Fuck, what the hell... I wish that when they remade Crystal Empire, Sombra's pact could include not only Chrysalis, Sinester and Nightmare Moon, but also Daybreaker and Sirens...
>>40336653I really think that Nightmare Moon should be removed from it. Neither her nor Daybreaker make sense in it, considering the goal of the Pact is to take Equestrian lands. Sirens would be nice addition, they can already work with Chrysalis afterall.
>>40336653What are those three ladies planning on doing? O_O
>>40336653an unholy alliance between these three to destroy griffonia and zebrica would be kino
>>40336653I like that idea, a pact of unholy evil out for conquest and blood
>>40336653>>40337397>>40337509That's stupid. They hate each other and have goals that are diametrically opposed. Not only that, but the one thing that two of them have in common (Chrysalis and Nightmare Moon hating Celestia) is one-sided. Nightmare Moon doesn't need Chrysalis at all given how she's able to handily defeat Celestia entirely on her own. Meanwhile Chrysalis was only barely able to beat Celestia when she had the power of the strongest love behind her. Adding Daybreaker to the mix only makes it even worse. She already explicitly wants to kill Nightmare Moon and absolutely has the power to do so. She'd probably have Chrysalis's head mounted on the wall in her throne room.
>>40337686I like the idea better than getting another furfag nation
>>40337766What kind of response is that?
>>40337769Bait for a redditor I'm guessing.

>>40337810Its a tool used for pirating DLC's.
>>40337810It lets you enable DLCs for a game even if the DLCs are pirated. So you can own a legitimate copy of the base game and have all the functionalities of that (like multiplayer and the workshop) while also getting to have all the DLCs without needing to buy them. It doesn't actually give you the DLCs though. With some games the DLCs exist in the files but are just disabled until you buy them. Creamapi will set all of them to being enabled. In other games (like HoI4) the DLCs aren't there and you need to download them from somewhere else manually. Creamapi will then put those into the game and enable them as though they were normal DLCs.
>>40337793>>40337826>fun is when wacky meme pathsParadox and its consequences have been a disaster for the strategy gaming genre. It's even worse considering that you're advocating for turning the entire continent into one big hugbox, literally removing the primary gameplay.

>>40338016And?
>>40338032No other country suffers from it. It's just a weird hatewank. Hellquil can do full Generalplan Ost to the riverlands and be more successful than the Changelings long term somehow. It doesnt make a ton of sense. The honest answer is that the mod makers wanted to copy tno and decided to do a 1 for 1 just sped up. A lot of nations in this mod benefit from plot armor, but none actually seem to be actually punished for winning like the Changelings are. It's a forced meme.
>>40338041True.Death to plot armor.
>>40338041What's funny is Manehattan can beat the pony resistance and become a great power in the Celestial Sea region. If you're lucky enough you can take the dragons, Haukland, Vedina, and New Mareland and make them your puppets and break from the shadow of the greater Changeling nation.
>>40338048My favorite part is that Chrysalis just kind of lets it happen even though she's supposed to be full egomaniac by that point. Lol. Based Queen Lilac tho.
>>40337826Tripartite pact only works if it is Sombra, Chrysalis and Sinister against Equestria. It fundamentally doesn't work if they ally Equestria. Because who the fuck are they gonna fight against. There is no great enemy to fight. Even in vanilla, half of the fun playing Axis and Japan is that you are outnumbered by diametraly stronger Soviets and Allies.Without that struggle it is boring. And not fun at all.
>>40337975It is certainly weird how it happens overnight. Like there is no progressive change of Chrysalis becoming more incomprtent. It just happens from day to day because plot now calls for it. I really hate how post war changeling content is done. I hate it all the more so because idea was interesting but execution is just horrible. And writing makes me want to scratch my eyes out. Save me Tolkien.
>>40338041Griffonian Empire is even better example. Despite subjugating the entire continent they never suffer from any resistance from subjugated nations.
>>40338133It Twilight can tell Jachs 'you're doing a good thing' even though he half-asses it all then she can accept Sonata.
>>40338150It is such a weird thing for Twilight to say that to Jachs. Like, he is still a changeling occupant and works towards making changeling rlue over ponies permanent. This is exactly why I despise Pax writing, because it literally is out of character.
Can't we have fun AND seriousness? Why does it have to be one extreme or the other?
>>40337863>fun is when wacky meme pathsYes. Have you played a HoI4 mod?
>>40338133I mean if one Siren deserves a pass it's Sonata.
>>40338205Yes, and the best and most fun paths are the ones that actually fit and that you can get immersed in rather than trying and failing to be a YTP in HOI4.
>>40338229Such as?
>>40338229>the best and most fun paths are the ones that actually fit and that you can get immersed inThis guy is VERY SERIOUS about his mappies.
>>40338258Haukland
>>40338283Yes.
>>40338193The problem is that most meme paths aren't fun, they're just reddit humor. And why do you portray fun and serious as mutually exclusive?
>>40338326I don't, other people do
>>40338076lol you do realize there's a focus in vanilla HOI4 that lets you ally the soviets as Germany and stomp the allies even harder right?
>>40338041Chiropterra falls into a similar situation after beating Hippogriffia. But after you get the local commissariat occupation law, you're basically gold. you can just set it up begin blobbing out into Maregypt or Colthage while the resistance crashes and burns. Then you get the powerful industry relocation and "enslave locals" occupation laws. (the latter sadly only works in the North Zebrica region)but yeah, the "pax chrysalica" ending is dissonant with the actions you take up as a player before it happens. Chrysalis suddenly becomers retarded. The sixth hive plan is completely ignored by Chrysalis' underlings if you choose Vanhoover as the location. (in a totalitarian state lol) Chrysalis' own advisors mock her behind her back despite her becoming basically one of the greatest conquerors in-universe and supplying her country with an endless source of love. Every character that supports Chrysalis or speaks of her positively is a bloodthirsty retard.the fact that a race of INFILTRATORS fails to control the populace is also hilariously retarded and shows clear writer bias on its own. Chiropterran thestrals destroy resistance groups in North Zebrica like it's a breeze, while a race geared towards social engineering fails to do so while having both the numbers and resources for the job.
>>40338746>Every character that supports Chrysalis or speaks of her positively is a bloodthirsty retard. And?>shows clear writer bias on its own.Pretty much everything except this is very heavily biased in favor of changelings. It's safe to say this is just regular writer retardation.
>>40338133Possible Sonata general in Maregypt?
>>40338229You are clearly a butthurt dev. But your shilling won't ammount to anything. Because simple truth is that fun things are fun. And it is backed by Bears, Tobuck, Zarantia and Sirens. As oppopsed to Coltaghe Coltva, Chital, Warzena, Chirroptera, Hippogriffia and Adelart which are just crap. I will rather havd nations that let me have fun thsn seriousness.>>40338463It is not easy at all because vanilla Allies are still jscked as fuck. Especially when US awakens. And you actually have that as a war. If Daybreaker or Nightmare join Grey pact you have nobody to fight.Only way it would make sense is if you dont ally Changelings and Stalliongrad and fight them.
>>40339442>You are clearly a butthurt dev.>your shilling
>>40339451Just calling it how it is. Nations that wank seriousness are just not fun.
>>40339515He's too busy trying to get immersed to address your points. In the game where where you just stare at a map.
>>40339524Also, if you need 101 events that usually are just pure tryhardism and don't even add anything, then it isn't immersion. Like most events are just legitimately boring, they don't even have anything insane or interesting about them, nor do they lean into some specific aesthetic. It usually just more pissing and shitting just like CK3 events
>>40339442Chiropterra's Ocean Spray path is pretty fun doe. Both Winggarden and post-defeat. Very good balance between fun and tryhardism.
>>40340076Not really, there is nothing fun about Chirroptera. It is one big waste of the initial Chaos Marines idea. And its entire lore is just dumb. There is no way they would reasonably be able to stay hidden the way things are. Especially not with that kind of coast. And Wingaarden doesn't really go deep enough. It really needs to be expanded.
>>40340103Chiropterra is unironically one of the best written nations in the game.
>>40340107No, it is not. It is horrible. My source: I read actual literature.
>>40340140So do I and I will say that it is genuinely amazing.
>>40340103they weren't completely "hidden" though. equestrian informants went in and out. (read lore note on New Ayachactli)they were also "found" by the Storm King, who decided not to waste any troops on them prior to his invasion of Hippogriffia. (thanks to Stone Palisade's fortification skills)and obviously the slave raids are well known throughout Zumidia, Warzena, Tobuck, and whatever regions they raid. especially since they're stealing zebras away by the dozens of thousands. (mentioned in the Colthage focus for alliance with Chiropterra)i can think of two reasons why they weren't invaded or subdued:>they are only occupying a tiny chunk of land prior to integrating zarantia and tobuck and would probably get curbstomped if they moved against Hippogriffia or Colthage on their own, which are the only two nations that could succesfully invade early Chiropterra>on the other hand their country is extremely well fortified and filled to the brim with zealous, well armed and highly professional legionnaires, so occupying it would be hell for the invadersequestria is another candidate, but incursion into Chiropterra even prior to their militarization would end in a bay of pigs type scenariobesides, their in-lore strength is overestimated. when they started evacuating all loyal agents and disgruntled lunarist populations out of equestria at the end of their focus tree they yield their ambitions for equus entirely.
>>40328475>>40330934>>40333963>>40334018Kirins is releasing on the 25th.
>>40340685Source?
>>40340107The whole foundation for Chiropterra is fucking stupid as hell and required bending over backwards to accommodate their existence. Fucking hell, the bat ponies being their own thing already ruins the whole point of Luna's fall from grace, making it so she had a bunch of other ponies backing her just makes it even worse.
>>40340685So after the summer ended, wow they lied again.
>>40341086Not really. It makes complete sense.
>>40341239No, the entire Moonshine opperationmakes no sense. The entire plot has to bend over backwards to make it work.
>>40341282And that's why there is a separate path if it fails. It makes total sense.
>>40341286Chiropterra takes away from the changelings. A massive espionage operation intended to inflame almost violent social unrest in Equestria and it's not a changeling operation, even though the changelings are Equestria's primary foe?
I really miss the times when i just discovered the mod in late 2017 and rediscovered it with lots of new content in 2021. Both of those times i'd play for days on end, exploring fun paths, larping and drawing nice borders. Now i wanna play ponies again but i've played all the interesting paths a thousand times now and the updates take insanely long. I'd love to play updated stalliongrad and equestria but seems like i'll have to wait a year if not more for them to come out, and the same excitement just isn't there. Yeah.
>>40341086>the bat ponies being their own thing already ruins the whole point of Luna's fall from graceI wouldn't say that. Them existing is fine, but them being a significant portion of the population is what makes it bad. If batponies actually lived mainly underground in caves (like the closest thing to canon information we have on them said) and were a tiny minority, like 1% of the population, then it would still make sense.

>>40343934Protector and God for sure. I suppose Mother is supposed to be the most pragmatic. So I guess it could be possible, as a way to avoid war and redirect Sombra´s aggression against changelings and the north.

>>40344164Most likely, one could still get some fun content out of it. Both of them delaying war for later. Building up, and then having this massive conflict between a Demon King and Evil Goddess. I really want EAW devs to go on these aesthetics harder for Sombra and Daybreaker. They are critical. I NEED IT.
>>40328475Talking about whackiness, how come practically all nations are less wacky than their IRL counterparts? Where is Himmler's magic casttle and wizards? Where is the Germans turning most of Poland into a massive nature reserve with wild cows? Where are Stalin's man-chimp hybrids?
>>40340685>No sourceWe're never getting Kiria.

>>40344720I think this might be the single worst part of the mod.
>>40344730Griffonia in general is guilty of that. I just didnt want to recount rhem all. It is easier to say stuff I like.I like concept of Vedinian religion. I like Yale. Greiffenmarschen. Haukland. I like Fezera, though there could be more done. Going deeper into cyberpunk and maffia/detective aesthethic. Perhaps some cyoa. I like radical paths in Mareland. I like conceptually Falcor and Sicameon. In execution there could be more done. I like Longsword. I like idea bdhind Gerring. I like idea behind Klosau. I like Wulfric path. I like idea of Barrad but not execution. Riverlands in general are weak. Because they are supposed to be defensive faction. But then both their main enemies Hellquil and Barrad are hilariously weak.
>>40344764Oh right, I also like Rumare, Hansetic path for Romau after Dawnclaw and Maarite Ebonwing. Nearly forgot about those.
I'll be hosting an EAW game tomorrow at 18:30 CEST. Everyone is free to join.
>>40344053I'm pretty sure the same guy made Equestria Liberation Front and Manehattan, which is hands down some of the best content in the mod. Changeling post-war as far as TNO style content goes it's well executed. The changeling aesthetics are pretty kino and the kirin ones look good too. I'm sure whatever we get will be at least Manehattan or ELF tier, if not better
>>40344797I know the answer, but how come unicorn weapons have handles? Wouldn't a sharp object that's sharp everywhere be more effective?
>>40345002Maybe the weapons are designed for general use and not just for unicorns? I guess there could be some weapons designed specifically for telekinesis users, but most would probably be mass-produced for general use.
>>40344720>ChitalI don't get calling that a direct analogue at all my dude, they're if India was colonized by Vikings. That's weird and interesting, I liked their canon path well enough, and I'm pretty interested in how they're going to interact with Kiria.
>Something bad happens after Governor get shot:aussie_griffon:
>>40345416Nova Griffonia DEFINITELY needs a revisit. Only one kinda fun path in the whole nation, glad to see this.

>>4034593610w nerf, so sad.
>>40345299Yes they are vikings. And it does nothing different with it. Besides the typucal viking memes. Ignoring how they are leagues away from homeland and how their culture would change as a result through interacting with natives. Even Britbongs who settled in their little Raj were often adopting aspdcts of Indian culture they found interesting. And Indians did the samd from Bongs. But Chital has none of that. It is just le vikings in India. Which was already done in Austurland, and while that could also be done more interestingly, it is still leagues better than Chital.
>>40345416I assume it is rework to how you get Highhill path.
>>40344797The game will start today at 18:30 CEST. The theme will be that we will all coop as Griffonian Empire (or someone can play Romau or Bronzehill if they want) and set Aquileia, Griffonian Republic and Skyfall to be buffed. We'll have to work together to stop the republican menace. Note that we will likely go archon.
>>40346013You should play a country before you complain about it, because they do that, and saying fucking Austerland is better than Chital is the craziest thing I've seen in these threads(The leader designer idea at the start is interesting, but other than that it's a very not fun nation to play). The whole power struggle between the various factions, the mechanics behind who gets to be the leader, all of that is fun gameplay wise. Also, not every place colonized by the British adapted the the indeginious cultures my dude, look at Australia and hell America. The reason why the more culturally Viking section is spotlighted is because the nation you're playing at and Unifying Hindia with is Chital, the coast that was most heavily colonized by the Viking deer. I'm sure there will be more of what you're describing once Dolehi gets their tree.
>Kiria will release by next Mareday
>>40346064You clearly miss the point of what I am saying. Chital literally doesn't do anything interesting with the ideas and symbolism it uses. And let's not even go into how it doesn't even do anything interesting with the concept of this being a fantasy world. Like you are using symbolism and aesthetics of Vikings and Indians. Yet, you don't even do anything interesting mythologically speaking. Where is the magic, where are all the crazy heroes and monsters from these mythologies? Or where is your own spin on these aesthetics and mythologies? It is literally just bitch basic power struggle and politics. Tobuck and Zarantia blow Chital out of the water because they actually do feel like fantasy takes on the aesthetic they use. Or Yale, Yale is still unsurpassed and is the best nation in Griffonia and more devs should actually do narrative, characters, and focus trees like that.

>>40346160Finally, based gang is here. This is a promising direction. I want a nation that can go full biohorror frankenstein umbrella corp.
>>40347468>>40347511Maybe he advocates for social democracy or women's rights from an eugenics perspective.
>>40347902If your argument is that there's no immersion in a game like this at all then why do the meme paths matter? What the hell is the point of doing something wacky in the game then? At that point just going "what if Greece reformed Byzantium during WWII" is no different to actually playing the game and doing that.
>>40347936Cause it's fun dumbass. Playing a meme path in a nation is fun, and everything being taken hyper seriously ruins that, because it means the devs are more limited in the paths they can make. Look at TNO, it started fun, but slowly got less and less so as they took it more and more seriously.
>>40347998That's just nonsense. Your argument is "meme path = fun, non-meme path = not fun" which isn't actually an argument, it's just your own shit taste.Fun is about gameplay, which is a bunch of different things.
>>40347902If your only enjoyment from the mod comes from the vanilla combat mechanics and none of the localization, I bet I can guess your skin color.

>>40348056In what way.
>>40348049The combat can be fun with proper crafting of the map. I kind of wish there was more diplomacy.
>>40348072That's actually one of my biggest gripes with the mod.Interactions with foreign nations seems to be an afterthought for most nations. All the time continent-wide wars happen between nations that have almost identical governments. I think that breaks immersion far more than the fun meme paths we have.

Is there any way to not capitulate as solar mareland when solar empire capitulates. I might have buffed changelings a bit too much
>>40353241Sadly no, only harmonic Mareland can fuck off and establish an exile government. Solar and Lunar ones fight to the death. And go down with the motherland.
The tribals are just built differently. Clearly, agriculture does make a society weak.
>>40353241if you're a puppet it's over. you can send your sovereign a military attaché and lease them shit to boost your autonomy and break free but you'd have to start doing that from the beginning of the war. i played against Changelings alone on Evening Dew path and repelling them isn't that difficult once your overlord is gone. the ai is remarkably shit at planning naval invasions. plus changelings get nerfed to hell after taking the post-war foci.I also broke free from Luna on the Disciplines of Night path. I was not forced to capitulate when the war ended.

despite shit tons of text, kiria feels suprisingly shallow for some reason. maybe it's because the paths don't feel that different from one another
>>40353395Harmonic path definitely lacks something to do. Because after you set up all your, mayoralties, build some decent industry, and beat Lan Kir, all the wars in North Zebrica are basically over, so becoming Guardian of it feels pointless. Would be nice if you could get war goals on Bats and Zalathel and crush their little wannabe dictatorships. And Chital is just worthless and was losing to Sambar in my game, so I can't expect anything from there. Why is there a changeling expy of the Administrator in Kiria's portrait folder?
>>40353512There is a changeling path apparently
Just finished the harmony route. The story is great, but the biggest issue with it is that its a nation that has a huge amount of decisions and is practically reliant on them, yet it barely gets political power. In that regard it almost feels like a bandit nation. I just don't understand why devs love PP starving nations that rely on PP related stuff. Another issue is that your basically punished for avoiding a civil war because there just simply isn't much fun things to do besides reading stuff. You do get plenty of war opportunities once you modernize and shit, but it comes at the form of decisions and only against non-harmony expansionist nations so your almost better off manually justifying. With Roam, for example, I demanded they disarm, which they did, but their nation didn't actually disarm and the game forced us into a NAP. At this point, the only ones I can attack without navel invading is Chiropterra.I feel like the whole modernization thing needs to be sped up or the devs should make Kiria a bit stronger and ready to fight sooner once it is done because there is simply too much waiting for this country at this path.To anyone that played other paths, how good are they? I'm kind of curious about the supposed changeling path. I wish there was a more wholesome but also expansionist path for Kiria.
>>40353519I'm trying to figure out how to trigger the Changeling path now. I presume you have to get felted in the civil war.
>>40353395There was pretty good variety between all the civil war collapse paths. The religious commies are difficult to win as but with the special mechanics I was able to chngtnuonquer Kiria by 1010
>>40353518Hope someone posts how to do it, I got no clue.
Is there a Nirek path ?
I also have no idea why this isn't the title art and only the event pic. Because the title art is so ugly and lacks any of the eastern aesthetics that Kirins borrow.
>>40353542It's extremely uninituitive. You need to make a deal with the Changelings as the Northern Kiria Council or whatever its name is, and then you need to lose the city of Fragrance. The 'lings you supposedly hired will then seize the city.
>>40353560
>>40353560Is it a good path?
>>40353593Truth be told, I don't really know. It only just started. But there's uhh, a unique mechanic already. I'm not gonna spoil it, but it's very changeling-y.
My problem with the secret 'ling path is that Chrysalis can't win the Great War for shit and I'm dragged into her clusterfuck.
>>40353630Just buff changelingia or make Equestria go civil war.
>>40353659Yeah I'm going to restart my run with those conditions, I wasn't thinking I'd be a puppet.

WOW, what a copout, The Triumvirate doesn't even get a unique focus tree after they win the civil war. It is literally just the same as the successful plan. That is so boring, I thought they might have something more unique.
>>40353550I really like her mAne!
>>40353519>You do get plenty of war opportunities once you modernize and shit, but it comes at the form of decisions and only against non-harmony expansionist nationsso you don't get plenty of war opportunities. The only war I fought was with the Zaikirians, who attacked me. I had zero options except for justifying manually.didn't care for the story. Modernization's been at the heart of many EaW nations and nothing that happened in Kiria felt new or interesting. I didn't care about the country or most of the characters, save two. One is Fickle Current, who is as bland as others most of the time, but he does get one good moment where he upholds his principles and refuses to deal with a criminal. The other one was Mayflower Bloom, the eugenicist. At the start of her story I thought she was going to set off a well-meaning but disastrous conflict of some kind that will finally get me some gameplay beyond all of these decisions, but instead she just discovers that poor people exists and becomes a literal gay communist as a result. Ridiculous. I suppose that getting my hopes up and then seeing them dashed mirrors my experience with the whole update.I played the "normal" supremacist and communist paths, they were fucking boring too but at least they let me have a few wars here and there to make up for all the bullshit. I'll try some of the other paths because of course I will, but so far it looks like the best part of the update is the Adelart path (that will probably play exactly the same as the other seven Adelart paths).
>>40355497The weirdest thing is that despite Caspy being chinese, Kirins don't even tap into any of the interesting chinese mythologies or philosilophies.
>>40355564And yet there's a weird Chinese state in the Riverlands.
>>40356079Lake City is Serbo-Japanese and Ponaidhean is Gaelo-Tibetan. Neither are Chinese.
>>40356105Ah. I'll admit I didn't play Ponaidhean to really get the differences. Especially with how their tree feels so very.. unfinished.
>>40353519>>40353949> wholesome path where the conflict is resolved peacefully has no conflict
>>40352635Caspy really fucked it up by making the one path everyone will experience first so fucking boring. It's almost as if he wanted people to ditch it ASAP to do literally any other path.
>>40355564One of the gravest sins of EaW is that despite being a fantasy setting and part of the conflict being technology and magic clashing is that most of the nations are not very magical and too human-like. Griffon architecture shouldn't be European they should incorporate trees into their buildings like how Griffonstone in the show had that huge tree with homes built into it but no that's too much for them to actually think about.
>>40356256Shit excuse for shit development and shit writing.
>>40356262He also fucked up, by making all the characters feel so bland. As the other anon said, it really feels like the only interesting character is Mayflower and Fickle has his moment rejecting pirates.Further, he also didn´t tap into any magical or mythological shenanigans. Like, this is supposed to be fantasy china. Where are all the creatures and beings of folklore? Why are there no monastic communities when religion is so important and Winter Frost leads a powerful faction of them? Why are there no wise masters and heroes? It just disappoints me and makes me want to go rewatch Thunderbolt Fantasy instead because that does fantasy China way better.I forced myself to finish the Triumvirate path till the end, despite already seeing that the focus tree is literally identical to the normal harmony tree, in hopes of some unique events but there are basically none. It is literally just a difference of leaders. AAAAA save me Lin Setsu A
>>40356276Yea, it relies way too much on the expies of irl countries to hook in the normalfags. It should have leaned more into fantasy and magical autism. The worst part is that you have that in certain places, and it works great and then other devs will just proceed to ignore that.
>>40356329It's funny how the polar bears are way better quality than Kiria is despite being essentially a huge meme. Even their changeling collaborationist path is better than the Kiria changeling one.
>>40356329You'd think Niriks would also feature more as an issue but..
>>40356361It is funny that you don't even resolve the threat of nirikfication in either harmony path. It is just forgotten. Which is also another issue with these paths. That like the early game is about modernization or its failure and civil war. Then you get your boring democratic tree. And then the story just abruptly ends. There is no endgame content, there is nothing to do, you don't even resolve niriks or reconcile them being part of you. It just ends. with no fanfare.
>>40356356Bears truly are just built different.
>>40356356>Even their changeling collaborationist path is better than the Kiria changeling one.I once played Farbrook and went for the Griffonian Empire vassal path, and actually really enjoyed playing a loyal vassal path as a change of pace (even if the AI can make it frustrating)Are there some other fun paths like that?
>>40356384Supremacist Romau, Lunarist New Mareland especially the Evening Dew side.
>>40356384Based Hermane Gering path. Farbrooks Harmony path may genuinely be the most boring Harmony path in game and that's saying something. Hermane conquers his way to prove Farbrook great. Gets a noble Griffionian wife and even impresses the royal court with his style.
So the dev team got early access to the next DLC so EAW is ready the day it drops
>>40356376That's another thing that was bothering me. The whole point of the Silence was the nirik issue and the crazy deer in Chital leads a crusade to genocide the kirin because of niriks so the whole thing just not being addressed in the harmony path is fucking mind boggling.
>>40356399I do hope that Hermane "I eat the eggs every morning to grow more powerful" Gerring will remain as much of a chad in the rework too.
>>40356420Yea, the most you get is a choice between Teach them Temperance or to Rage is Kirin. But like that still does not address the root issue of niriks.
>>40356256one moment from the story stands out to me now. While modernizing, you encounter a problem of pollution - your new industries create lots of waste that floods the pristine rivers of Kiria. What can you do about it? Spend some political power and make the problem go away. That's it. There are no choices, no conflicts, no stories. Why the fuck is it there? NOTHING would have been a preferable alternative to "wall of text, but it's actually nothing". We could have made enemies with an angered river spirit or monastic communes or local peasants or industrialists. Something to raise the stakes and break the monotony of the "click focus-click decision" gameplay, something to keep track of, something to keep in mind for when we make our next decision. Why do we have a minigame for useless mayoralities, but the most important event of a major nation that is the centerpiece of a whole update is just "don't let stability go down, btw the only way to fail is on purpose"?We're dragging an empire into the new millennium kicking and screaming! Why is the whole process so fucking boring? Why is the whole focus tree linear, why doesn't it have any choices, any factions that we need to placate, any debts we'll have to honor, any opportunities we can miss? The Mayor's tree in fucking Las Pegasus feels more engaging because you just don't have enough time to get the entire tree before he dies. The lack of time, artificial as it is, makes your choices matter. But in Kiria, failing to meet the deadline on the 3.5 year plan is punished with a slap on the wrist. The only meaningful choice you have during the 3.5 years is "fuck this path, I'll stop doing focuses, just give me the civil war already".Angriver, Zarantia, other backwards nations circumvent the side effects of rapid modernization by not spending too much time highlighting them. You'll get a few events here and there (or just NOTHING) and go on with your business because those nations have other stuff to do. But in Kiria, modernization is always in focus. You can't just ignore how your actions are affecting the entire nation, you're bombarded by events that tell you what you're doing and how what you're doing is wrong for this or that reason and here's what you can do to make it right (spend 100pp, that's the only option). Fuck off.all of these complaints are setting-agnostic btw. The fact that kirins are an actual canon race with built-in quirks (niriks) that don't get explored at all makes it even worse. I'm glad I never liked kirin, this update would have gutted me otherwise.
>>40356499Pretty well said. Another hilarious example of event that is waste of time and leads to nothing is when you talk about how your fields can't sustain all the returnees. So Fickle suggests some agrarian experiment, and if you follow through with it. There is no follow up event. I got nothing. I don't know if it worked. Or if it failed. It is a massive waste of potential. Bdcause it could have been a way to show that Fickle and Raising could find some common ground. But it never does anything with it. AAAAAAAAA, this update is driving me insane.
>>40356572agreeing with Current's proposal leads to a botched experiment (which I guess is foreshadowed when he says that he never tried farming himself), you must have gotten a bug. Don't worry, the only thing you missed is a decision to spend 100pp to make things right. What fun!
>>40356329Did the supremacy path, and I will say there is one event that's really cool that does take advantage of mythology(Not Chinese mythology though) when you invade the communist nation to your south. Invading it is hell though, it's all jungle.

>>40356792Equalism is too stupid to ever be anything other than a niche crazy meme ideology.Though it's also very stupid that communism arose in fucking Equestria of all places.
>>40356792that would work if Starlight was to completely replace Caramel Marks as the founder of the ideology. Then there would be the problem of her getting "reformed" in lore. How would her change of views affect the movement as a whole? Would she try to convince her followers to accept Equalism instead? Would she advocate for something in the middle? Lots of opportunities here, really.
>>40356834Communism starting in Equestria and Stalliongrad existing relies heavily on Celestia being fucking stupid to an insane degree, especially since apparently the STG rework is trying to downplay the influence changelings had even though STG's revolt being a result of intense changeling interference would actually give the changelings more agency and influence on the continent, especially since they're the main antagonist for everyone to rally against.
>>40356834what the FUCK did you just say?
>>40356760She drops the whole thing to become a commie with her gf. Its not explored at all.

>>40356887Eh, not really. The gist of it is that it's "nature vs nurture" and the conclusion is that the nirik chimpouts only happen because of "muh capitalism" and "muh inequality", make of that what you will. The worldbuilding is top-notch, at least. One detail which stood out to me was how the kirin firefighters have tanks and artillery (which spawns in as a division), I found that hilarious
Having just completed a Changeling Fragrance run and man is it based. Was expecting a path where you form a Queendom of Kiria or some memeshit, did not expect replicating the spread of cancer across Zebrica. Show Chryssie would be proud.
>>40357234> unexpected zebrican changeling WCwe're so back changelingbros
What did you guys think about the Vietnam-style war in Talarayi? I personally thought it was pretty fun and I especially liked the end where the priests summon the thunder lion and it uses the gold in the temple as a conductor to effectively nuke your soldiers before they can pillage the temple.
>>40357701I mentioned it earlier as a good example of using mythology and magic in the setting. Kinda weird we got Mezo-American mythology instead of Chinese(it's the literally mythological city of gold) but I'll take what I can get.
>>40328475I don't feel like making a new thread for this, so I'll just ask this thread since I usually hang around here. Is it just me, or is the vocabulary used in the show oddly advanced for a children's show, especially for an American one?
>>40356276Well, one thing the mod does well is that it incorporates the anachronistic nature of the show. Well... outside Griffonia.
>>40356836You could have Caramel invent equalism and have Starlight be an equestrian follower.>>40356834I disagree, equalism is really just characterised by the rejection of the cutiemark caste system.
>>40356609Oh right you mean the Tiger thing. I like how the Golden City is already more interesting than Kirins just from a single event.
>>40356760And it still leads to nothing. The events are nice and Mayflower is the only interesting character in harmonic path. But the events are still worthless because they lead to nothing and are never put to practise.
>>40356805>>40356792That is just Russian thing. They love Soviet Onion in transported to different worlds. Personally, I dont have an issue with that. But it really needs to lean more into aspect of magic and some of the more insane ideas soviets had about build God. And so on. Equalism should totally be represented more. It is a shame only New Mareland and Blackhollow have paths for it.
>>40358000What species will Stalliongrad try to crossbreed ponies with? Also Lysenkoism is a treasure trove for whackiness.
>>40358015Changelings, Griffons, maybe polar bears but Icebear ain't gonna be willing.
>>40357928Nah, I don't think so at all. It is pretty average vocabulary. It is more the fact that other shows are simply that bad. Lauren was simply too based.
>>40358015Oh yea, deffinetelly Deer. They are closest to them. And have literal ability to see future. Bears would be funny too.
>>40358030>>40358022Maybe have changelings be the default (captured infiltrators), and as you conquer nearby nations of different races you unlock new hybrids.
>>40336653I would not say that this would be rational, since the pact is created for the sake of the destruction of Equestria and the subjugation of its citizens..Therefore, it makes no sense for Daybreaker and Nightmare Moon to be there at all...But I would like that these crazy mares, with the threat obvious to them, could conclude a truce and even unite forces against all their enemies in Equus.
>>40358158I wish we got path based on Together against the Sisters.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc5XBXdQbw8It is probably the best take on Evil Diarchy.
>>40358000>That is just Russian thing. They love Soviet Onion in transported to different worlds. Personally, I dont have an issue with thatMe neither, but it's almost a word for word copy and paste of IRL stuff, down to fucking MarxLike you could have the exact same USSR expy while still working within the bounds of the showBlah blah blah Steel Stallion thinks that equalism as is is not gonna work so he changes the approach to be more applicable to practice (in his mind)There, Marxism-Leninism expy that's just a little bit less on the nose, even better if the aesthetics are a bit different and it's a smaller branch than "orthodox equalism"
>>40358251This is a reoccurring problem with the mod as a whole. You have a magical universe doing whatever, yet devs go for 'X, except griffons/deer/pony'. I get it, art imitates life and all that, but we need more funni countries with zero basis on reality.
>>40357942>I disagree, equalism is really just characterised by the rejection of the cutiemark caste system.I mean I guess, but there's no way to remove cutie marks except through Starlight Glimmer. Plus equalism as an ideology is completely meaningless to non-ponies (it also applies to zebras, I suppose).
>>40357994You unlock her as an OP political advisor at the end of her path, which is something rather than nothing.
>>40358251>Me neither, but it's almost a word for word copy and paste of IRL stuff, down to fucking MarxThis isn't an uncommon problem in fictional worlds.See: Kras Masov, Karlos Marcia and so on.
honestly my biggest problem with this mod is that the map is so fucking garbage. Who the hell decided it is a good idea to have 3 separate continents completely disconnected from each other and no central conflict to them ?Its like they made 3 separate mods and combined them into one without thinking it through. Zebrica should have been placed in a way to connect equestria and griffin continent and provide some content for them too, instead its a fucking dumpIs it hard to mod the map of this game ? I kind of want to try and fix it.
>>40358396It still leads to nothing. You don't resolve anything about Kirins and she is kinda of useless as an advisor too, because by that point you don't really need any of the bonuses she gives.
Anyway, I must say, Fickle path is kinda boring. Like, you are for a long time just laggingtrying to catch up on tech, and build industry, then you stomp everyone around you who doesn't have focus tree. Then you stomp Chital, because Chital is braindead and the game is basically over. It is also like other anon said, that it is way too much of a click-focus-click decision. The events are just not that engaging either.I hate to repeat it over and over but I just enjoyed the Bears overall much more. Kirins are just missing, something, some spice, to make me want to come back and keep me engaged.
>>40358267this is why Hyperbearia is the most based cuntry
Also, another issue with Kiria is thatTHEY ARE NOT FLUFFY ENOUGH, THEY NEED MORE NECKBEARD. SOME OF THEM HAVE NONE. NOW BEARS, THOSE ARE FLUFFY LADS.
>>40330970>carriersUseless in EaW because no proper ocean.
>>40358866I mean, you can use them, when playing Hippogriffia as Crack and doing his crazy conquest. Or Sirens when invading Equestria. Not sure who else would use them though.
>>40358466Masov at least was actively part of a revolution and killed himself as it all came crashing down.
>>40358473It's not that hard to change map, just extremely tedious and mostly done through trial and error until it suddenly works.
>>40358473The devs have said repeatedly that intercontinental wars aren't a big focus for them to work on, they much prefer to keep the world as semi-isolated as possible even though Equestria actively sought to open up to other nations in the show so whatever. It's probably because they're too stupid to do naval invasions and want to limit them as much as possible.
>>40359378Well, I am pretty sure that focus is no longer valid because you do have intercontinental wars. Equestria and Nova Griffonia guarantee Republican Exile government. Polar Bears invades Hauklad and Torben even crusades in Griffonia. Griff Empire invades Nova Griffonia. Crack can invade Puerto Caballo and Sirens invade Equestria and can work with Changelings. Wingbardy invades Abyssinia. Star Father does his whacky shit. Vikings Chital can invade Austurland and Gryphus.
>>40359665I said 'aren't a big focus for them' not that they don't do them at all. Reread my post, goddamn.
>>40359665Oh yea, and Daybreaker invades Chirroptera. I knew I was forgetting something.
>>40359675Yea, and it still seems to be wrong. Because most of these are pretty new content. With the exception Exile government and Griff EMpire.
>>40359368thanks i will ptry it with it, even if I am the only one playing it in the end
>>40359378>make a mod inspired by ww2>dont make a world warWhat did devs mean by thisAlso Kiria gameplay is literaly just reading an interractive book.
>>40360146I agree, nevertheless, the event of a world war is possible in this mod, but in this case you need a series of RARE accidents or before the start of the game to give a path for the AI along which a big conflict can happen, but this is not so interesting, of course, since there will be no mystery and surprises for which you may be unprepared...
>>40360606New model?
>>40360146EaW's big world war should be Equestria trying to assert its hegemony over the globe and bring a peaceful and harmonious world order.
>>40335185Kek, I had this situation once.
>>40338105>they never suffer from any resistance from subjugated nationsAnd they also fucking core them. I hate the Empire so much.
>>40356499>why doesn't it have any choicesthere are different ways you can do modernization though. like letting Fickle have full control over that college he created vs having the monks run it. also lots of choices between boosting a party vs gaining stability. when i first ran kiria i assumed that if i boost a party hard enough they'll be put in power after modernization. i managed to make the traditionalists dominant on my first run, just to find out that harmonists would still be in power afterwards. so then i made another run boosting supremacists. just to find out that every path you take during modernization leads to the same focus tree and leader. it's a huge contrast with nations like firtree, tobuck or new mareland. i also didn't feel anything definitively "chinese" about kiria except for character and layout design. even Alesia's story which happens completely outside Severyana has more cultural and historical references than Kiria. You could replace the kirin with deer and place them on Griffonia and it wouldn't change shit about the story. Except for the focus on Autumn Blaze, I guess.
