For a chimera, which is taking 2 different animals and sewing them together, that could happen a number of ways. Making them misunderstood beasts who nevertheless have legitimate monsterous aspects to them. And finally, one stomach is just BORING. It's a CHIMERA, having weird anatomy is a big part of the fun, a chimera shouldn't be entirely normal, it defeats the point.

I like the idea of Lamia having twin tails so much I actually can't imagine them any other way now. Even tho it makes no sense, and has nothing to do with the mythical creature they're based on. But now I always imagine the last 1/3rd of a Lamia's body being split in half with 2 independent tails.Without twin tails, they just don't feel satisfyingly dextrous. Their hooves are literally useless for fine manipulation. That tail has to handle ALL the dexterity which means if it's occupied with something, it can't meaningfully do anything else. Two tails makes Lamia capable of opposable force and it makes a drastic difference in what they are capable of doing.

Can we talk about how Lamia are fucking dangerous and scary as fuck and unless you're a Twilight-level Unicorn, getting caught in their coils is an immediate game over, you are already dead fucking meat just by being near them. If a Lamia wants to murder you and you don't have access to some ultra-specific thing that could stop or slow them, you are 100% fucked. You are not escaping the grip of a giant fucking snake. Especially not a giant snake that moves in a fast-ish cartoon way rather than the slow way real giant reptiles move.Pegasi have a genuine shot at escape but NOT if the Lamia has already wrapped around them. And if we assume Lamia have snake-like strike reflexes the Lamia could strike with lightning speed and if they don't miss, snatch up a Pegasus mid-flight before they have time to get far enough away. Lamia are dangerous broI can think of an interesting weakness tho: if a Lamia can be levitated in the air with telekinesis, this limits them considerably. But this is probably not possible for most Unicorns solo

They’re not completely impossible to beat, a strong enough earthpony could cave one in with a kick but they gotta be fast and lucky. A unicorn levitating one would almost completely stop them but they weigh like 500-600 pounds and that’s probably too much for most unicorns to lift. Teleporting away or them away works but it’s not easy and a forcefield is also too intense for most unicorns. The other side is that lamias are probably weary of magic in general because they never see it day to day and a unicorn with a small weapon has crazy reach and can hold as many as they have the dexterity to use, they also would be hard to eat with a spike on their head. Pegasi definitely have the best chance on average to get away because you only have to fly up like 9 feet before they can’t reach up anymore. At least with my average size ones. 1v1 the lamia probably wins 95% of the time unless a Pegasus just nopes. 1v2 that goes down more than you think and a group of like 5 ponies who aren’t just panicking and freaking out could absolutely beat a lamia although it’s not necessarily 100% and some might get hurt. a lamia could fling them around and crush them fast but that’s more skilled fighting. A lamia who’s prepared and good at fighting and not just a random would stand a much better chance and might wipe the floor with them. It’s definitely possible to beat them

A typical Unicorn horn is rather short, and would be too difficult to just snap off. On top of that I assume a Unicorn's horn will instinctively try to protect itself from threat by casting magic energy that burns/hurts the Lamia's tail if they touch it. It's also likely Unicorn horns are made of some extra-special extra hard material......A strong whack from a crowbar might break the horn but in general I think Lamia would struggle with Unicorns because they can still freely use telekinesis while being coiled and potentially fuck the Lamia up that way.Not that I think a Lamia would ever eat a Pony but I bet Unicorn horns actually cannot be digested by anything save perhaps the bellyfire of a Dragon
