>>

>>
>>39507976
Please don't. As they are right now, they feel like a completely different franchise, mimicking mlp style. As soon as you add official mlp characters to the fad you practically degrade them to OCs. Plus as far as the spinoff goes anon has a very significant role in it which would collide with the humanless show. For comparison, would you ask weather mlp characters are aware of shark ponies or plane ponies?

>Does Luna walk their dreams?
I figure a possible answer for this question could be that the shamares handle their village's problems with dreams sufficiently well that Luna, who is already busy with the far more populous warmer climates populations, barely registers them if at all.
She might even view them as dream entities herself when she does interact with their dreams.

Maybe the shamares hear second-hoof accounts from some of the spirits? Like any passed-on story it's a bit altered and mixed up, old legends of Luna mixed with (slightly) more recent stories of Nightmare Moon.

Maybe a legend of a dark spirit living in the moon that comes down to prey on lesser dark spirits? Something that wouldn't hunt a pony, but they'd still fear drawing the attention of.

"So we are snowponies, but we are not made of snow?"
>The shamare shakes her head and you continue
"And we do not eat snow? Like full time?"
>The shamare shakes her head again
"So how are we snowponies?"
>"Well Lichen, it comes down to being build for colder climates"
>You tilt your head to the side
"Then why are we not climate ponies?"
>"Because we do not control the climate or be personifications of climate itself"
"But we don't control snow either and we aren't the personification of snow"
>"Well...where are you going with this?"
"I don't know what species I am anymore"

"Oh...do you think I can have revenge against the snow if I make a really, really big campfire? Like the size of a house?"

One ritual boot for every event:
Birthday, wedding, anniversary, funeral, new year, foal naming, first snow celebration, spring welcoming celebration, solstices,...
Just need to figure out which one is which
>>
>Be me
>Thinking about a greentext about Lichen having put on just a little weight due to being a lazy ass and doing nothing but snacking
>Try my hardest to shoehorn it into a random greentext about her and having put on a little weight, but can't pull it off naturally in any form or way
>It all ends up being so low in quality I can't bring myself to post it
So anyway here is Lichen stuck in a doorway of a little play-hut for fillies and colts because she ate too much and all the fat went to her ass and hips
>Said pony is scrunching in the doorway, red faced and stuck, while little snowponies point at her and laugh

How does one get fat by snacking on mostly lichen that by no means can cause anything to gain weight, it's magic or genetics or something I have no idea, I just wanted to make people manually imagine chubby Lichen butt
>>

>pinecone butter
It's called pine nut butter and it exists. peanut butter and pine nut butter are very similar but
1 Pine nut butter is ridiculously expensive
2 Pine nuts are known to generate a shit ton of stomach acid when digested. Imagine eating the condensed version of that with lichen, which is an amalgamation of some kind of fungus and a fucking bacteria living in symbiosis.

I hope her belly is made of concrete and she stays near the fertilising grounds.

I can't see her getting plump off that, no...

Maybe she could have lichen and rich feesh?
>>
>>39519620
>getting plump off that
I mean it is pure plant based protein like peanut butter so she could technically get fat from it if she's not using it to exercise and develop muscles. However she will have bigger problems before she would get there. Like potentially stomach ulcer or even develop allergy for nuts... that is humans would. Maybe snopies evolved to eat that stuff 24/7 no prob... Your choice what you imagine to make them out to be. More realistic than eating fish. DESU at this point they might as well eat deep fried boot with cheese...

kek, Lushcoat being very keen on pristine looks and cleanliness, and the messy happy go lucky shid.
Yes, I can see them bickering back and forth a lot. But also:

>Lushcoat has had a long tiring week.
>Sheddings, so many sheddings, difficult foals, pitching in to help around the village.
>Lichen being such a pain hasn't helped. Haven't seen her in a while however...
>Wait, is that Lichen?
>That can't be Lichen.
>Can it?
>A stupendously clean and made up Lichen with a neat mane and tail trots over to Lushcoat looking a little sheepish
>Lushcoat inquires what is all this? (Apologies, I can't do her accent)
"Well, you've looked really down and unhappy this week, and when you didn't even notice me being very muddy yesterday, I thought you really must have been miserable..."
"So I decided to surprise you! See, I can look after myself! If I want to that is."
>Luchcoat just chuckles and hugs Lichen
>"You're wonderful no matter how you look Lichen."
"I might need some help cleaning up the fillies I practised with..."
>"I knew it!", but Lushcoat is happy. Lichen cheered her up nicely.

I want Lushcoat to have to shave Lichen because she was playing with pine sap or pine nut butter or something that just won't wash out and gets her fluff clumped up in a hairy-sticky mess.
>>
>>39522770
Lushcoat snickering a little because the (screaming) boot is on the other hoof for a change, but Lichen looks so downcast with her missing coat and cold too that she and Bundle Up quickly rustle up something for her.

Just thanks the spirits that Lichen was a little too moody to realise she was "naked"
>>
>>39522783
I imagine Lushcoat is dying trying to hold back laughing to not to appear rude as she shaves her, while Lichen is dying trying to hold back crying to not to embarrass herself even more as she's being shaved.

>she was "naked"
I can't tell which would be worse: having all her coat shaved or just the spots where the sticky clumps were and she ends up with shaved bald spots all over her? Naked or not, how will she go to class looking like this? You know what, forget class, how many decibels loud is her scream going to be when she takes a look at herself in the mirror at home?

Is it Lichen abuse to put her into scenarios where she orchestrates her own demise?

"It's a pickle"
>You were doing some snow pony business and Lichen rolled up to your little tent housing thing while you were eating some snacks
>"Is it safe to eat? It's green"
"Well so is lichen"
>"Only some, and not this shade of green, it looks all...ogre"
"Salad is green"
>"What's a salad?"
>She slowly touches it with the tip of her tongue and then pulls away quickly again, studying the taste in her mouth while frowning
"Green like an apple"
>"Apples are red"
"Look, it's safe to eat, look"
>You pick up the pickle and take a big juicy bite out of it
>Lichen shudders as juices run down your chin
>"But it smells so bad!"
>You just stick the pickle into her mouth and she bites down on it by reflex
>Her eyes go wide and you catch the rest of the pickle as it falls, some of it now in Lichens mouth as she carefully chews
>She seems tense as she studies the experience, and then she swallows
>"I..."
>She slowly takes the pickle you offer to her from your hand and takes another bite out of it, followed by slow chewing and then swallowing
>"I...think i like it?"
>She looks at you with a puzzled expression and takes another bite
"Lichen, it's ok to like pickle"
>She swallows again
>"Are you sure? it feels so...so wrong and kind of dirty"
"Lichen it's just a vegetable"
>she puts the rest of it in her mouth and resumes chewing it slowly, gulping down the liquid that it gives out
>and then she swallows the rest of it as well
>"So that is a pickle then"
>She just sits there, looking very unsure about all of this
"Do you...do you want anoth-"
>"Yes"

tying sledges behind each other is very dangerous. I my brother and the neighbour kid found out this the hard way when we were kids. Different sledges slide at different speeds and it's very hard to steer and it's increasingly prone to roll on its side the harder you're trying. Luckily the neighbour kid insisted on riding the front sledge and ended up with our 2 sledges up his ass at the end of the slope.

Icicle Jack. She needs a signature hat and a buff brother for lewd artists to incest ship her with.

>Ekaf
Why?
>>
>>39568750
>I think it would, which is why I'm going to write the snowpones discovering an Iceland-like island... Eventually. Some stuff to go before that.

Ooh, looking forward to that!

>Wonder what to call it. Greenland? Kek.
Celadon Isle? Heh.

>Did you know that Greenland is almost entirely covered by ice, and Iceland is actually very warm due to all the geothermal heat and warm ocean currents?

Knew the name thing, but didn't know Iceland was that warm. Thought it was cold except the bits around the volcanos. That's cool..or not?
>>
>>39571063
Well, that was a bit of a generalization/hyperbole, I guess. It's no tropical island, but it's less colder there than where I live. (Not that I've been there, just reading some statistics.)
The highlands/mountains get pretty cold, but the coldest it's ever been in their capital is −24.5 °C (−12.1 °F), and that was in 1918. Average low temperatures rarely drop lower than -5°C in winter, which is positively balmy.
>>
>>39571131
Oh...yeah, that's not bad at all for how high up it is in the world.
Snowpones would think it a cozy warm vacation place. Lots of saunas I guess.

Yeah, just seeing pictures of stuff like picrel is pretty wild. The creek is so hot, it's steaming.

Because it would absolutely be normal for snowponies to bathe in the hotsprings? Probably also have cooking recipes involving them, like how Icelanders have a pure-rye (normally a bad idea, rye dough is incredibly dense and moist and so needs special care while cooking; even Latvian rye bread is two different kinds of rye flour mixed together) bread recipe by simply leaving the dough in the boiling hotspring water overnight.

>Because it would absolutely be normal for snowponies to bathe in the hotsprings?
if its boiling wouldn't it kill them?
>>
>>39572258
How else would you get pone soup?
>>
>>39572261
so
>>39571217
is that actually boiling or is it just regular hot?
>>
>>39572296
It's boiling in the spring itself, but obviously cools down to just hot once it flows away.
>>
>>39572296
There are miniature geysers in it. Holes where overheated steam or gases burst out of the ground, within or on the side of the stream. This is usually caused by volcanic activities heating up ground water or gas pockets. Since the holes are small and the pressure is weak it's not going to be as grand as the Yellow stone park geysers per se but still boils the water in the immediate vicinity. So you can and they do cook stuff using them. But it mixes with the rest of the water and also hot water evaporates faster causing more increased dissipation so the further down stream you are the cooler it gets to the point where it can be pleasantly warm given no acidic materials got dissolved into the water in the process.

TL,DR; both.

That's not the Ekaf mare, silly, just a picture of a spirit that Neuro drew months ago. I guess by coincidence and meme magic, it looks like the Ekaf mare. Maybe it is her spirit, roaming free...
>>39572623
Getting free heat like that is just cheating. I know Iceland grows bananas in greenhouses heated with geothermal energy. That's right, bananas. They might as well be a tropical island after all

Ooo...thanks for answering, that's really interesting. So snowpones would definitely cook or bathe in them.

Probably another stupid question but how do people check how hot it is? Can't imagine dipping a toe into potentially boiling water.
Infrared thermometers I suppose seem likely for the modern world, but did they just guestimate back in the day?

How would snowpones guess?
>>
>>39573526
Perhaps they just hover their hoof over the water? If it feels too hot then don't step inside. Once they find a suitable spot to enter the water, they can trek upstream to find the boundary between "sauna" and "mare boiler"
>>
>>39573526
Simple, they just walk down stream where its obviously cooler and walk back up with their feet in the water. Once they reach a pleasant temperature they mark the place for the others. On the other hand making a rudimentary celsius scale is easy if they have access to two different metals.
>Take copper and iron or nickel or zinc. whatever, just take 2 different ones
>Shape them into rods of more or less the same length
>Attach them to each other at one end aligned
>Put the attached metal rods into boiling water and wait for both to extend
>Mark the length difference
>Put them into icy water or melting ice
>Wait for them to shrink
>Mark the length difference again
>Divide the distance between the two markings into 100 equal units
>You got celsius scale
You just need to put the rods into any liquid and it can measure the temperature in celsius within the error margin of 1-2 degrees. This is why eurofags are so proud of their metric system. Should the world come to an end, even cavemen can practically reproduce the same measurement units.
>>
>>39573738
>defining 0F requires freezing brine made out of water, ice, and ammonium chloride
>defining the rest of the scale requires eyeballing human body temperature (horsenheit temperatures will thus be different)
>defining celsius just takes ability to smelt metals
kek
Wonder how hard it is to make a more conventional liquid-based thermometer with caveman-tier tech (i.e. no industry, at most hand tools and bellows-driven forge for glassblowing).
>>
>>39573747
>eyeballing human body temperature
That's the easier part. Just shove it up into someone's ass...
Lichen comes first to mind.

It's just that with metal bars that are handy (hoofy?) lengths difference will be so minimal that you need advanced measuring tools to get any meaningful readings of temperature.

If you want to get technical yes it's true but you are a step away from attaching a lever pointer mechanism to the rods to amplify the difference. Optionally you can go for a coil setup. The idea is the same
>>
>>39576481
Sounds to me like it means you're going to need to repeat the experiment many times to get reliable results.
Let's hope Lichen's body is ready.

Shamares handle a lot of snowponies' medical needs, but do they also have doctors and nurses?

It would make sense to have snowpones who learn medical arts without the attached mystical aspect that Shamares have layered ontop. Not every snowpone can be a shamare, but healthcare should be in the capacity of any willing to learn.

Something as sophisticated as full on doctors and nurses might be a bit modern (?) but I don't see why medicine mares/stallions shouldn't be a thing. If anything, ones who focus purely on medical aspects would be a major boon for any tribe who had them.

The annual meeting at Snowpitt would allow for them to exchange discoveries and knowledge too. And maybe during the long cold winter train up potentials in their collected understanding.

Pine Needle, who might or might not be Pine Ponder's brother, I think was created as an apothecary, for example.
