Tempted to buy VR equipment just so I can pet the snowpon.I think I added all the new written things from the last thread that were binned. Lichen's stuff remains unsaved. I guess I can toss those onto the unified Lichen archive, if no one claims them.
>>39274843Is a Snowpony as special breed of Pony, or is it something that happens to all Ponies if they live in colder climates?
>>39274870Regional kind of thing, much the same way Crystal ponies are only found in the Crystal Empire.
>>39274864>Lichen's stuff remains unsaved. I guess I can toss those onto the unified Lichen archive, if no one claims them. That's probably for the best, if anyone does come forward, its easily amended.
>>39274843>>39274864How long until deep dive VR?
>>39274864As much as I like VR there isn't that much to do in Ramage, and the petting is fun for like, 2 minutes before it start to only emphasize how far technology still need to go before it can actually fill the void in our hearts.>>39275884I so hope I won't die of old age / civilization won't collapse before deep dive finally become possible and affordable. It's not looking good now tho, Neuralink still hasn't even started human trials despite technically not doing anything that hasn't been done decades ago with more intrusive electrodes - and even then, it's only to send commands to the computer, its compact design make it by definition incapable to allow the computer to send much stuff back. Even the researches about grafting camera's output directly on blind people's visual area have petered out iirc, due to underwhelming results compared to how invasive the techniques were.Realistically, we will probably have to settle for just better headset, with decent haptic gloves (the current ones are 5k$ a pair, and only transmit hard touch, not texture, from what I can see).Machine-learning AIs might also soon come to the rescue with content, they recently started getting out of their "only static pics" phase and can make some actual movies from prompts. Wouldn't be interactive, but at least you could prompt "cute snowpony family playing in the snow" and watch them for hours in VR. Which remind me, did anyone try to output snowponies with the current pony-trained AIs?
the snowtranny's desire to shit up the catalog is insatiable
>>39275943>Which remind me, did anyone try to output snowponies with the current pony-trained AIs?Current, no. I did try making some snowpons some... Three, four months ago, I think? Got some funny splotches and vaguely interesting stuff that could be interpreted as abstract snowponies, but nothing realistic.
>>39274843awww she's so cute with her little snoot
>>39275943>the petting is fun for like, 2 minutesYeah, I figured. Still fun to muse, though.
>>39274864If you don't have interest in VR games already, I wouldn't take the plunge just to pet the poner. However, if there's a couple games that interest you I would highly recommend it.
>>39274843Am I missing something? This just looks like the SFM stuff with a shader on it
If money isnt an issue whats the best headset to buy right now? (usa)
>>39277824I'd say the Valve Index. The headset is very good and the controllers do add something to the experience, being able to actually grab things instead of pressing a button.
>>39277439It's in Unity so you can actually pick your view/horse/scene/anim, but yeah that's still the usual SFM models.
VR tourist hereHow the fuck can I get my hands on snowponer in VR?
>>39278140Ask the anon that made it if he's willing to share, I guess.By the looks of it though, there's not much more besides what's in this little clip there.>>39274864
>>39278157Im something of a game dev myself. heh It's hard to make an interaction simulator work. Requires good coding ability to keep the simulation straight and a shit ton of animations. Most people are only good at one of these things. Even with AAA budget at most you could create something like the Sims, but with ponies. And I personally find the Sims boring. How would you anons tackle the problem of creating a fun mare game experience with focus on the relationship part?Visual novel?Stardew valley-like?Interactive fiction rpg?Simple chat bot?
>>39278157Yeah, there ain't much going on in this game. You can't really customize their appearance much out of a few outfit swaps. It's like a tiny tiny tech demo. Even the anthrofag stuff is mostly just poses and 1 anim. They need to go look at porn and copy some of the poses.
More pics of VR pony?
>>39275943>Which remind me, did anyone try to output snowponies with the current pony-trained AIs?Closest I've seen is this, which inspired the ice-golem lore discussion. Actual floofy snowpones, no sign.
>>39278242Animal crossing, but with ponies.

There is already so much 3D anthro porn produced daily that when I have some free time to work on Ramage I tend to prioritize classic pony stuff instead.I do plan to make some basic anim loops with them, but at this point my ToDo list is already long enough that I should be done around G7's finale.>>39278475Pic related.I made an alternate skin for Whitetail Wood's nightly campsite. Half tempted to dust off an old dynamic snow system to leave hoofprints, but that will probably be for another time. Also you can make them sit/sleep now.
>>39280054Oh, bloody hell. Sometimes, less really is more. Even with how basic/crude that picture is, it's goddamn comfy and adorable.
>>39280054I will probably just stick with SL for now. That looks like fun but I already had my fill making gmod ponies in garry's mod.Cool little thing though.
>>39279208Isn't ponytown exactly that?>>39279156No opinion. Haven't played.>>39279520>chatbotAgreed, Chatbot is pretty lame. It works for some people though, not sure why. It's novel and fun for a bit and then it quickly becomes boring. I prefer reading greens from humans, over chatbot produced sludge.>interactive fictionMost reasonable to execute. I wonder though how much one gains by introducing options and puzzles to a story, over just having a linear well written story.
>>39274843playing with ponies in vr??? wow this is something i couldn't have even imagined as a kid, but. i guess that's cool.

>Reposting from NHNBApparently scribus has a built-in template for Lulu and Createspace 6x9 paper book.Tried to apply it to the Snowpone Book. The downside is that the pages got taller so to not distort the pics I had to add blank areas. To make it stand out less I made some bullshit northern-ish ornaments based on Inuit art. What do you think anons? Is it better that way or is it better to leave it as is?
>>39280054Thanks bro I really do like Ramage. But I dont have any VR tools. Can you do anything different with the VR in Ramage?
>>39281023Play with some really shitty toys that often fall out of your hand or get stuck on the ground with no way to use the force to pull them back to you like in every vr game ever. This is a hint to the dev
>>39280688>Isn't ponytown exactly that?no...theres's no economy, no minigames/jobs no clothes/furniture/cosmetic market. there's really no gameplay at allit's all roleplay and chat
>>39280987>>39280994I think it looks nice, the blank areas don't detract from it especially. The 2 page spread's added borders really make it work. Similar such snowpone-themed image borders for images instead of empty would make it brilliant!
>>39281023Honestly not much. Half because I try to have stuff work even without VR, half because it's been purely an animation viewer for most of its existence so interactivity in general is still low.>>39281394>This is a hint to the devWas working on revamping their wonky-as-hell insertion system, but guess I will look into that too while I'm at it.

Magic is happening. 7k words. Fingers crossed, I'll have the fastest update I ever did to Agate ever tomorrow. Heh.I don't see how some of the (very few) authors manage to make regular updates every 2-3 days. Do they just write the entire story out beforehand, and then release it gradually? Or do they have that much free time?Granted, their chapters tend to be a bit shorter than mine... Ah well, that's their secret.
>>39288077Supposedly, an experienced author can pen 1k words an hour. That's about 2 posts of content. Probably need to add 1h for proof reading though.

>>39293795Now I'm imagining that Equestria gets in contact with Snowponies because of a direct dragon-pony crossbreed Kirin who ended up something of a devil figure from CENTURIES of Nirik-fueled "a little trolling" building up into mythologized ill repute ecstatic about home being back and dragging Cirrus off to see where him and Agate used to live.So the first contact looks like a March Of The Damned, terrified Snowpony elders bullied by Abominables who are gleeful about Grampa cooling off a bit, the only foals on the trip being long-dead ghosts, led by an Old Monster literally too angry at Sombra to die who's called in favors from a full-blooded dragon niece of his that looks half-dead from poor dietary choices the last couple decades.

>>39316939I'm seeing agriculture in the arctic, something stupid ponies can't figure out without an oversized space heater
>>39316756I am rather curious now though, IF Snowponies were actually canon in FiM, since around Season 3 at earliest, would've they had Sandbar been Snowpony instead of regular Earth Pony?
>>39317162I think having snowponies would change the entire timeline completely. I don't think we'd even have the school, or a lot of other things.
I would love a snowpony tv show
>>39317754If it was about 60% slice of life and 40 adventure/spookiness, it would be perfect.
>>39316939Nah, Sandbar was supposed to the 'control' member of the Young Six as the pony representative (funny how he also was the most boring of the lot as a result), he was going to be a normal Earthie regardless.I have said it before but honestly Yaks are the closest to Snowponies the show ever got, the real differences being the Yaks are far larger, innately narcissistic, and of course the obsession with breaking literally everything in sight. Then again, reindeer are also canon AND a known species since Pinkie isn't asking *what* the gift givers are when she finally reaches their house, but merely who they are (and also that one comic issue where RD, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon were reindeer in an imagine spot story). I could see Reindeer having been developed into canon expys of snowponies just with more of a reliance on telekinesis and flight....the reindeer were literally alicorn tier, I just realized.
Has Puffins' foal ever got a name?
>>39318110Seems to be Totem.
>>39318062I didn’t really like the reindeer designs but I’m sure if there were more of them there would have been some better ones. Aurora and Alice have absolutely wild divination abilities and I assume they’re very much abnormal. The weird thing about them is that they seem like they’ve been there for a long long time that their ages don’t line up with. The yaks don’t just destroy anything they see, they hate things that aren’t genuine, and they appreciate things that are genuine even if it sucks on the merits that it is. Their smash holiday is about celebrating the impermanence of things, and they appreciate and value mutual understanding, like the not having to askThey’re proud and stubborn but it is largely superficial and they’re pretty easy to get along with when you understand their mindset.
>>39317638>I think having snowponies would change the entire timeline completely. Not necessarily, if sticking to Crystal Empire Refugees as the "founding population", as they'd be on the far side of a huge stretch of frozen wasteland that likely only has a rail line because Celestia actually planned some things out....Which brings up the amusing thought of "Anon and Frosty Flakes" concluding with the Crystal Empire popping back in place within arm's reach of the station as they wait for the train to come back, Snowmare tagalong having some folklore about it.
>>39317638No that's just retarded.
>>39318357>Crystal Empire Refugees as the "founding population"Last I knew they were a part of chancellor puddingheads group that either broke off or were sent north, got stuck, but survived and adapted.
>>39318357Maybe, maybe not. My thought was more of an implication of "well, if the we had writers that wrote something as cool as snowponies, they'd likely write out a completely different story for FIM altogether.">>39318646That's the most widely accepted headcanon, yeah. It's actually the first time someone even brought up snowponies being descendants of crystal ponies. There were a few prompts with there being a tribe that intermingled with crystal refugees, creating either "ice ponies" or just extra-shiny snowponies, but no one ever mentioned all snowponies being descended from escaped crystal ones.Excellent snowpon, by the way. It's new, right? I don't recall seeing that one before.
>>39318646>Last I knew they were a part of chancellor puddingheads group that either broke off or were sent north, got stuck, but survived and adapted.>>39319036>It's actually the first time someone even brought up snowponies being descendants of crystal ponies. To be fair, I missed the last 23 threads or so, poking my head in when they first popped up on Derpi and only now coming back. Checking back over some stuff, it's probably crossing wires with Agate's Vigil. The bit about the route being a pre-emptive Crystal Empire Station still works, at least, for filling a slight plot-hole with a sequel hook, and the same explanation of "wrong direction" still holds.>>39319036>My thought was more of an implication of "well, if the we had writers that wrote something as cool as snowponies, they'd likely write out a completely different story for FIM altogether."Not really, the "core" is a rather minor difference of degree from Saddle Arabians. Definitely different breed of domestic equine with a culture mostly templated from the society that has them.

Do snowponers get enough sun at winter? Do winter solstice and polar night exist in pony world?

I've been thinking. Floewolves are just timberwolves made of ice rather than wood. Are there any other monsters with analogues in the temperate environment we see in the show? Is there a cockatrice-like amalgamation that turns ponies into ice sculptures?

>>39337864I've been thinking about maybe adding some creatures from Subnautica to my story. >>39339051>A decent if not amazing nuisance critter. You know what? That actually sounds pretty great. Not everything strange automatically has to be a dangerous monster, it would be just as dumb if *everything* out there was to kill you. You need prey animals, too.And it's pretty fascinating to think about an alternate ecosystem of magical creatures that might feed on each other. What do skitter-spiders do? Weave icicles? Icicle webs? Or is it just camouflage, and they're more like the hunter spiders that chase their prey? Are they made of ice too, or is it a trick?

Are they made of ice too, or is it a trick?I think after seeing>>39339184I've got say they weave icicle webs, or maybe webs that are wet(?) and freeze easily? I don't think they should be made of ice, if everything was it would feel a little over the top. A decent trick, translucent chitin, the general shape?Maybe they could roam from their webs if they think an easy target presents itself.>a unsuspecting snowpone sees a strang looking icicle formation on a tree>the skitter-spiders are handing from a branch, their legs and bodies arranged to look merely like icicles
Perhaps instead of being made of ice or "directly" using it, have them be biologically-implausibly uncaring about it. Maybe a river species that winters as a web-using hunting spider and summers as a diving-bell, with the web-snorkel providing airflow through the layer of ice over the body and simple re-freezing slowly turning "stereotypical" webs into solid sheets, then a somewhat ridiculous strength-to-weight ratio has them pressure-melting the ice on their bodies and webs as needed. The behaviors work perfectly fine without any ice at all, but the things learn a few little tricks specific to the extra rigidity and mass that crops up, based on the area's re-freezing rates. Diving-bell behavior also means acceptance of fish, allowing for the retention of giant examples as "friends".
I'm voting for these ice-spiders to look like deep sea spiders. Most normal arthropods don't really live in the arctic circle, but there is this one that lives on the sea floor of the arctic ocean, although not technically a spider and it doesn't shoot web- it looks dope as fuck, and def seems way different than normal spiders
>>39339828>>39339266>webs that are wet(?) and freeze easily?I was thinking of sticky icicles/webs. The spider coats them in some kind of sticky fluid that's laced with something like antifreeze, which doesn't completely freeze even in the cold, making them appear "wet" from a close examination. Only question is, what kind of prey would such a hunting method catch?
>>39336343They always end up stealing her scarf and burying it in a tunnel though, and then her mom scolds her when she gets home.
>>39340135And immediately after I posted that, I thought "Squirrels, maybe?"
>>39340140squirrels or lemmings maybe
>>39340135I'm thinking it would attract just about anything looking for an easy source of water, but it depends on the size of the spider what it's aiming to catch. If we're talking normal large spider size, probably some tree dwelling insects. Arctic wolf spiders, though they're hunting predators rather than ambush predators, feed on small insects that eat roots. If we're talking "as large as a snowpone's head" size, maybe very young rodents and birds.
I like the idea that the pone arctic is pretty sparse with terrestrial life, and because of that, weird benthic animals come out of the ocean and populate the land somewhat
>>39328180The dorsal stripe looks good on snowponies. It's cute and fitting for the design.
>>39340135>Ice-spitting spiders are cunning, ambush/pursue predators>They are slow, but relentless and sneaky.>Their silk is not very sticky, but comes out a bit wet and freezes solid within seconds.>Their iced webs are very strong, and in some cases even akin to sheets of ice. >They cover their own bodies in it, for protection and camouflage.>Ice spiders hang near their webs pretending to be icicles, ready to drop behind any unsuspecting prey and encase it in frozen webbing.>If ambush fails, prey is chased into web, which may be very extensive and labyrinth-like.>Due to their slowness they don't stray too far from their webs, so as long as anything unfortunate to gather their attention manages to leave web and make a distance, they don't pursue.>That being said, Ice-spitting spiders break down old and make new webs in different locations on a semi-regular basis to rise the odds of surprising prey.>Their silk, after being carefully thawed, is priced for its strength and slickness to touch.A giant spider chasing you through its web labyrinth, while you can see its shadow through walls, slowly creeping about, not knowing whether its going to cut you off or not or already did, while coming face-to-face with it is certain doom.
>>39341152That is nice, but once again, it's a pony-eating monster. Where's all the prey species that all these things eat, or smaller predators?
>>39342058They could normally go after polar bears.Or foxes, birds, and rodents. If they build labyrinths that only have only one or two exits, they could wait in a pseudo torpor until they are certain something's entered it. If they give the illusion their prey could escape they'd be more willing to enter.Polar bears, foxes and rodents in that area all like to hide in burrows in the snow, if they disguise them as such depending they could catch any of those.
>>39340123That was the kind of look I had in mind actually, skittery and spooky as hell.>>39340135My initial thoughts on size were about the same as a>>39340182>"as large as a snowpone's head" sizealthough maybe a little smaller, they are meant to be a nuisance. Snowfoal's head size (from leg tip to tips, not the body) or so, maybe a little smaller, but they work in groups.

>>39345329show the fictional map? sounds interesting
>>39345358Here. Alas, it is immensely basic. In my mind, south is the "canon" Equestria map (it's on the map too, marked "Mt. Everhoof range), west is more mountains (past where forests are marked), and where the igloos are, instead of just having a huge-ass glacier right in front of them, there's a sea/ocean with a whole lot of islands, like the ones between Canada/Greenland in the RL map, with the glaciers/crystal forest and other weird stuff being either somewhere around where Greenland is, or a bit more west, deeper in the arctic circle.
>>39345372seems good, I like it!Do you imagine snowpones are the most-north civilization on pone world? like, would they be the sole occupants of the arctic circle, or would they share it with yaks or something?

>>39345780yeah the penguins/bears are pretty lame, at least the ice worm is a terrestrial animal.I don't think the game mechanics are anything good, just like a scavenger hunt for resources while you just kinda awkwardly skirt around hostile mobs, but the game is visually great and the art design is the main draw for meso ye, since it's half-off right now I might buy it just to take screenshots of the environment and mobs pretty much

I've been lurking for a couple of threads now. Are there any nice or small things that I should know about snowponies? Excuse me asking to be spoonfed, but I'm making something snowpony related and want to make sure I'm getting the essence of it all as best as I can. >>39347602>Small thingsMm. I can't think of anything that's not in the lore dump that's about general knowledge. There were a number of discussions about specific characters and a few tidbits about the snowpony territories, but that's about it. Far as I remember anyway.

>>39351808>I had the idea for a Whaler pony but idk on that one, I had the idea of them eating blubber in terms when the feesh were rare but idk if that'd be an actual thingEh, I'm in the camp of not making them too predatory/carnivorous. Everyone eats fish - seals, birds, bears, even other fish. So eating fish is fine. But going for big prey like that seems too much for me.
>>39355569yeah that's fair
>>39355515>story>not even a full post worth of greenpick one, but that sums up the content this zombie general produces.
>>39356421The lack of writing is partially a snowpone thing. From the very first day, snowpones attracted far more artists than writers. I lurk several other generals, and they get bumps with old pictures and new greens here and there. New art gets made once every few months, at most. Here, it's the opposite. Very few writers, but someone or other tends to make a new phone every few weeks, at least.
>>39356657Because people were only interested in adding their own OCs to ride a trend as evident by the giant chart of literally whos. Complaining about a lack of content, then saying that we should actively dump on people making content? No. (Yes, I'm aware you're probably not the anon that complained.) Pictures can be highly inspiring for writers, too. A good chunk of my worldbuilding came from inspiration from all the art. I was merely making an observation, not suggesting we try to do something as nuts as trying to drive drawfags away.

>>39356709>people were only interested in adding their own OCsHow are you supposed to flesh out a species and do the worldbuilding without also creating characters?>giant chart of literally whosThe chart was a convenient way to keep track of the recurring characters and it hasn't been updated for a year.>Everything outside of Marbo has been extremely lackluster that never goes anywhereMarbo died a year ago and there were a ton of developments since then. If you didn't follow, it's a (You) problem.>the vast majority of discussion completely pointlessUnlike your quality post that brings so much value to the thread and is not at all vapid.
>>39280054Keep up the great work, Ramage has had me busting the deepest nuts.Really really hoping for proper interactivity soon though, something like HEAT has where you can have the fun not just watch it.
>>39274843cute crocodile you got there anon, really nails down that G5 look
>>39356821>>39356992A pile of OCs are 'content' in the most barebone way, a pretty picture, and lack actual content it's a detriment with nothing to grab onto with no development of the OCs, just move from one shiney thing to the next. Everyone making OCs has always just wanted to get on the bandwagon of having a snowpony, and little else.
>>39357770>>proper interactivity soon thoughGood news: Heat is literally what has been in my sight for those past months.Bad news: I don't think I will ever be able to even vaguely catch-up alone on my meager free time VS the work a 5-man pro team can do.Feel free to tell me is there is some interactions you have a priority on tho.Right now I'm focusing on getting VR toys "insertion" right (to not much success, that's what delayed the last update for so long), and also exploring if I can find a way to make interactions with hair/tail less weird (so you can actually pet the fluffy tail or headpat - right now it only work if you are colliding right with the hair's "articulation") ... but I'm never really sure what people actually desire.Which remind me I need to code an exception for the food toy, so it turn into a mango for batponies and a fish for snowponies. Or maybe had them all separately with different level reaction to each per character, dunno if worth it.
>>39358059>with nothing to grab ontothat depends entirely on the picture. There can be plenty of tiny details that people grab on to.
>>39355258>Snow boner pump.Oh my.
>>39360213You've passed the test for sure! A++++
>>39360213Oh gosh how beautiful!
>>39307580I remember you woodwork anon
>>39321577I find this shitpost extremely hilarious for the simple reason that the entire snowpony craze started from the 100% exact same kind of "laziest" ponification of the three yakutian horses that Marbo did, and everyone fucking loved it.
>>39360213Beautiful. The background strongly reminds me of the usual Christmas aesthetic when I was a kid. Any chance you have the background by itself? It would make for a nice stealth wallpaper. Also, do I see Niveous over there beside Cirrus or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
>>39360213Black mane, gray coat, purple eyes...Snowtavia? Snowtavia.
>>39361599Snowtavia even sort of works as an actual name. Also, funny you should mention that.
What instrument does Snowtavia play?
>>39361849Her cutie mark looks windy, so perhaps a hoofcrafted wood flute?
>>39360882The original ponification attempted to actually give them a base personality type at bare minimum, unlike the new ponification which doesnt. The fact you cant tell the difference just shows you're like a junkie.
>>39360213It took me way too long to realize Meadow Frost, Snowfall, and Tundra Tracker are the three in front.
>>39322405Autistically delightful, Anon. Or maybe delightfully autistic. Either way.
>>39364127What's wrong Anon you haven't touche your fish
>>39360213PAINTERS ARE WITCHCRAFT.WIIIIIITCHCRAAAAFT.Those igloos look more like furnaces to me.
the chronicles of the snowponer
I have shaven the snow pony
What are some cool ideas for fictional creatures that could live among the snowpones in the Arctic?
>>39362205Brainlet moment now for myself not noticing that. That's even better honestly.>>39365784Perhaps a more fantasy based creature, like a woolly bug with a long promiscuous that drinks heat?A nuisance most of the time, but a real danger at others.
>>39365929that could be good, like a temperature parasite
>>39366054Tempest Shadow the snowpony?
>>39366093She's not realShe will never be real
