Same, even though the show degraded over the years, S7 is a good place to stop. Either that or it has to end all the way back at season 2. Ending with 7, despite some of the bad episodes that comes with the territory, does a good enough job with exploring a lot of events (fall of Princess Luna, AJ's parents), characters (Starswirl), and places (griffon and dragon homelands) that get established early on. Plus, it gives all the M6 a proper ending:

As far as I remember from the one time I watched the finale, they acted somewhat close to each other but nothing to the effect that they are a couple. There seems to be more evidence against them being together than for, since later in the ending we see Applejack with her family and Rainbow isn't there, which sort of confirmed it for me.
