Proto Twilight is a lonely, antisocial girl interested only about learning magic and using it to help out everyone else, in fact she has already developed a few new spells that can make a pony's everyday a lot easier by purifying polluted water, repelling crop plagues and accurately predicting weather changes. However, prodigy or not, nothing can ever break her self imposed loneliness shell as Twilight feels that every moment she isn't busy researching and developing new spells is a wasted moment she will never get back and so, her parents can't help but feel worried about their daugther- they know she means well, but the way as she disconnected herself from interacting with real people for her research's sake is simply not a healthy thing to do.Everything changed that fateful day when Queen Celestia and Princess Selena were visited by their old friend Scorpan, who brought a young dragon with him. As Scorpan explains to his surprised friends, he found a lost baby dragon a few years ago and while he did his best to raise him to be a kind and polite person (despite of his innate violent dragon nature) he knows that the boy needs friends around his age to bond with and learn from, something he can't provide fo him but knows that his old friends can by allowing him to live among ponies.Twilight meets this young dragon who goes by the name of "Spike" and both quickly get along pretty well, as Spike is a pure soul and has a million questions about the land and it's inhabitants, while Twilight is initially fascinated by this strange little dragon and feels like it's her duty to help him out to fit in among ponies.The first episodes of this beta series are about Twilight awkwardly trying to teach Spike the "proper" way to be a kind neighbor, initially not being aware of how little she knows about dealing with real people in real life and how she slowly breaks her walls as she slowly becomes aware about her lack of social skills and how she understand that she cannot help out other people if she really has no idea about how real people are in the first place.Beta Spike also carries a few issues as his own, as his lack of experience about interacting with other people often leads to him causing problems for others, while his abnormal strength and violent behavior can pop out at the worst moments despite of how well he was raised and taught by Scorpan.Eventually, Twilight and Spike create a strong bond as both of them support each other through their journey to learn not just what friendship really means, but also to learn about themselves, their own flaws and how they can master themselves to bring out their true potential. Some episdes can play this for comedy sake, other episodes can have a more serious tone by making them screw things up big time, etc.
