You can buy one in Ponyville. One might consider getting a little stool for him to stand on too.
As usual, here's the current rendition of Anon's house, for your benefit.Still planning on updating this soon.
>that OP picPretty damn excellent.>>37100943Since eventually you two will share that bed, no problem on letting him get used to it.
>>37100943"Any chance you can get, huh?"I see no problem with that request, though dinner won't be long.Let him know the coast is clear though, he can turn back into himself.
>>37100943Well, how could I say no to that cute face?
>>37100943Let him enjoy your finest silk for a bit longer.
>>37101928Bridal carry, like the big strong man we are.So it looks like changelings can stay disguised while asleep. I wonder if anything can knock him out of his disguise. Hell, let's ask, might be handy to know if we need to cover for him.
>>37100980>file deletedI saw that!
>>37101928Wait until the meal is ready, then bring it to the bed to wake him up with the smell of good food and some more scritching, maybe on the neck this time?
>>37102128>Eating in bedAbsolutely subhuman. How about no?
>>37101928By gently booping him on the nose until he wakes.
Deposit love directly into the changeling.
>>37101928Try to carry notaulix to the table without waking them, imagine their surprise when they wake up with food already there.
>>37103534I don't know my men, that just feels like some Hannibal Lecter shit
>>37103561Nah man trust me, they will be all like "Whoa, I am currently sitting at a table with a fine meal in front of me. However did I get in this situation, as last I recall I was sleeping in a bed."
>>37100947What kind of Psycho has a window in the bathroom?
>>37103835It could be one of these to let in the light.
>>37102481It's not like they will eat in bed, it's just a way to wake him up (with another opportunity for scritches). Once he's awake, Anon should ask him to come to the living room for dinner.
Remember to love bugs responsibly.
>>37103835What third world country are you living in where there aren't any windows in the bathroom?Excluding businesses/commercial places, almost every home that I've ever been in or seen has had at least one window in the bathroom. The exception to this are little half baths, or basement bathrooms.
>>37105092Maybe he was thinking about a regular window like the ones you'd see in a living room or in a bedroom. >>37103534Notaulix' griffon form is notoriously larger and considerably heavier than his normal form. I'm not sure Anon could bride-carry him...
>>37105137Not with that attitude featherfag. Need a bug fonzie pic.
>>37105137I mean, succeed or fail anon could try all the same. I imagine it would be like picking up a big dog compared to a medium sized one so I think its doable.
If you found a lost changeling of your own to take in, and it didn't have a name of its own, what would you name him/her?
>>37106794Ian, as an reference to the dog in SS13 since it also contains changelings.
>>37106794Dart, after the creator of the species.
What was a greater point of contention, how to wake up birbalix or that old one about fuckin' shopping or dinner or whatever the hell had a huge tie several threads ago?
>>37101928>>37102603Sweetcorn Strugglehttps://ponepaste.org/4086#2994You guys have some weird suggestions this time around.>>37106794If male: BugIf female: BugetteBug names are hard. It took me longer than I care to admit to choose Notaulix's name.Anyone remember the little Tymbal incident?
>>37107539>You guys have some weird suggestions this time around. We're fucking gay for bug.Darn, those cute little fangs are his enemy today. I'm actually not sure what he could really do to bypass that problem without help, short of transforming into something without fangs. Slicing the corn off for him might be our best bet, unless some Anon has a stroke of brilliance.
>>37107539I have eaten an entire cob of corn before, it is chewy and has no particular flavor. The kernels are sweet, the cob not so much.
>>371075392. Maybe his magic is dexterous enough to pick off each corn one by one?
>>37107615kernels*that's the word I was thinking
>>371075392. maybe he can only transform his beak away while keeping the body of a griffon to conserve energy.
>>37107667>transform his beak awayHe's back to his original form
>>37108039huh, somehow I read prominent fangs as beak.
>>37106794They're a sentient being, if you give them as much time as they need to pick their own name, I'm sure it will make them happy.
>>37107539Tell him you're sorry for not thinking about the fangs and offer to slice off the kernels.

>>37107539>>37107568>>37108635Sweetcorn Satisfactionhttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3033So, it's not like this CYOA is constantly on my mind or anything, but I had a lucid dream involving Notaulix last night.
>>37109955Now seems like a good time to start thinking about that old castle the princesses mentioned. You now have a travel partner who can watch your back and imagine the herbs and fungus that can grown in a magical deserted castle.
>>37109955>spoilerI wish I had more friendly bug dreams.Anyway, time for pleasant evening conversation! We should probably start briefing Notaulix on potential dangers in the Everfree so he's not caught unawares, although it sounds like we have plans tomorrow so we won't be going on another expedition right away (unless it's a short one).Maybe also do more bug research? Both what the ponies think of them and the real deal.
>>37109955Remember you have a meeting tomorrow with Gilda. Now might be a good time to mention it to Notaulix.
>>37109955Since it's not even evening yet, we have a lot of time. First we should work a bit more on his backstory, and we could chain this talk with addressing Gilda and your meeting with her tomorrow. Then, get back to the books about changelings, and ask if Notaulix would like to join you in the reading in order to spot what's wrong.>>37107539I hope my suggestion of waking him up with the smell of food and neck scritches wasn't the weirdest one...
>>37109955If we're going to go through books about changelings together, maybe now is the time to suggest eventually correcting the misinformation that the ponies do have. It's quite obvious that what the ponies do have is mostly guesses.I wonder if feeding off of a pony's love does have negative effects for ponies. Doesn't seem to do anything to Anon.
>>37110862I'm gonna guess it's mostly force-feeding that fucks things up. I'd cite Thorax as an example but he exists outside the continuity of this CYOA. Still, it's a logical step even if you never saw S6. (Hell I did it in S5-continuity.)
>>37110862If the target genuinely likes and cares about the bug (or the creature the bug is disguised into), it doesn't have any side-effects. Changelings can drain love by force (as shown in the comics) and this hurts the target.
>>37110813>>37110862What if the pony books aren't actually misinformation?
>>37112705Changeling's can alter their physical body, since if Notaulix loses the feather the feather remains. they would be capable of straight up pulling a thing
>>37112705They are at least partially.
>>37112705The old book Anon was reading last night wasn't objectively wrong.>Changelings are magical transforming fiends of the earth that prey on the life force of poniesIndeed they can drain love by force and this harms the target.>Changelings are known for abducting family members and replacing them with one of their ownIt would require some sensible info (gotten by torture maybe?) and knowing the habits of the replacement target, but it's possible.>Changelings attacks are carried out by crafty magic and other trickery, ending in them sinking their fangs into their prey to drain their life forces from themThis is probably a guess, but well, the fangs must be there for a reason.>Changelings make their home in the dark bowels of the earth, where they are lead by a great evil one; The QueenThey do live underground and have a Queen.I mean, maybe Notaulix is actually evil, but at least this will lead us to the ending where he vores Anon.
>>37109955>>37110018>>37110068>>37110813Background Brainstorminghttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3044>>37109994We'll get to this in the future. What's up with the huge drop in IPs and activity compared to the previous threads?Have we passed the threshold where the masses have grown tired of my shitty writing? Are we all of the remaining changeling lovers left on this board?
>>37116616They always seem to trickle in very slowly. I'm sure the board isn't exactly gaining members though.I feel like his age could just be his real age (unless it's weird for bugs), and I could swear we already determined why he's staying with us. Maybe start with why he went into the Everfree then? I actually wasn't sure on that myself. Maybe treasure-hunting or a desire to be a hermit like Zecora? Hopefully other Anons have some good ideas.
>>37116651A very brief and simple explanation was chosen, but this is an opportunity to fine tune those things.Read a dozen or two lines into this for reference: https://ponepaste.org/4086#2569
>>37116820Right, interest in our profession. Guess we oughta determine what he did beforehand yeah. Hell, what'd he do back at the hive? Must have some skills, beyond the newly acquainted cooking and herbalism.
>>37116616In order:1. His origin. That's obviously the most important question. Ask him if he got any instructions when he was one of the candidates to the assassination mission at the Griffon settlement back then. Maybe they came up with a story for him, and if that's the case, he could use that one.If he didn't get any, my suggestion is: he grew in a griffon settlement, his mother died in an accident and only had his father, who wasn't very proud of his interests and his shyness, so eventually he left to pursue his desire to become...2. His profession: he wants to become an herborist. Ties with what he was doing in the Everfree: he wanted to see what kinds of herbs and shrooms he could find there and got trapped in Devil's Snare. You saved him, and that's...3. The reason he's with you - he's recovering from the starvation and exhaustion, and since you two are herbalists, it was easy to form a friendship.>what's up with the huge drop in IPs and activity compared to the previous threadsI dunno, but I wouldn't rule out that people got impatient. The writing quality is excellent IMHO, but some, if not most, people prefer CYOAs that are updated faster and have less fluff.
Every day brings us closer to cuddling Notaulix in bed.
>>37118415Is that the endgame? What is there to do after that?
>>37116616This is my first time interacting in this thread, so let it be known your "shitty writing" attracted someone new. Can't say anything about the previous threads, was not there.
>>371166166 seems to be the most pertinent out of all of them, mix in a little of the truth because the best lies have truth in them.Claim that the reason why he is now staying with you is that you are now partners and venture into the forest together. It would make sense, a flying creature can see more from above then you can and two is better then one when faces the dangers of the forest. Who knows since Gilda seems to think that anon's job is cool we can get a three man party in the forest which would allow Notaulix to confirm Griffon body shapes and the like.
>>37116616>>37117413Origin Storyhttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3060In hindsight, I think I went too open ended on that last question. Need to break this down one thing at a time.>>37118870Thanks for the words of encouragement Anon. Have you been reading through the paste?
>>37124169Well you may be right on it being particularly dead this week, I couldn't hazard a guess though.Seems Notaulix is very loyal to his hive despite being deserted by it. Something to delve into later.Personally I still suggest he not actually be FROM the gryphon lands, to help explain away his lack of knowledge on gryphon stuff. Born and raised abroad somewhere, but the actual where is the question. We should ask Notaulix where he's been besides here and the hive, or even if he was just told about anywhere else. Best solution would be to work with something he's actually familiar with.
>>37124231Prolly has something to do with that con thing.
>>37124169Better get the book or come up with a different origin from abroad. StillI think we shouldn't delve on these details too muck or the story will come to a glacial pace
>>371241692. Maybe you could swing by the library tomorrow after your meeting with Gilda. Heck, you can kill two birds with one stone by asking her during the meeting.
>>37124169I think we shoud consult a book. I imagine one of the ones we already have might have a map or something.
>>37124376>>37124389Maybe these? Temporarily go with Talonsburg until tomorrow when you can hopefully find a good book after meeting up with Gilda. Also +1 >>37124260 for speeding up the finer details
>>37124169yeah, actually how I found out that these threads existed. read thru the story and when I refreshed the page there were more words added so I waltz on over here did a ctrl+f for "Buggy" and here it is.
>>37124796That's cool to hear. Out of curiosity, how is the story and its tone flowing from start to finish thus far?I've tried hard to keep things consistent, but in the back of my mind I wonder if I'm actually succeeding at all in doing that or not.The problem is that for myself and other Anons, we've experienced the initial few days of the CYOA over the last few months, and are more mentally familiar with Anon and Notaulix, for example, than they are with themselves. Basically what I'm trying to get at is I'm trying to not have it read like Anon and Notaulix are best buds after only knowing each other for a few days, if that makes sense. So, the perspective of someone picking this up for the first time and reading through it is very interesting to me.
>>37124169Book, just to be safe, so Gerson knows the basic story of wherever he came from.
>>37125779The tone has remained the sane throughout the story as far as I can tell and the relationship between Anon and Notaulix makes sense to me.Notaulix was and still is clearly desperate for food and love considering the state he was found in the forest, Anon was able to provide that he stayed with Anon. Anon being a generally stand up dude didn't want to leave another sentient being to die is now providing for Notaulix while also giving him someone to talk to. Since I imagine before this they were alone most of the time venturing into the forest. They are not the best of buds but they both provide something to the other so it only makes sense that they stick around.
>>37125779One little thing I will note is it sometimes gets a little awkward with how often Notaulix says Anon's name in the middle of sentences. It's generally pretty obvious who he's talking to given he's never been around any other ponies, and you can probably count on no hands how often you say a person's name while talking to them directly.Unless you just wanted him to sound like a social recluse, which granted I suppose he is.
>>37126504I'll agree to that, but I also think that there's at least some reasoning behind it: in a Changeling colony they live in a military regimen with every unit having their function and rank, and they probably always refer to their peers (especially superiors) by addressing their ranks. The "sir, yes, sir!" thing. Maybe that's why Notaulix speaks like that.If this was a bad habit of the writer, Anon would do the same thing and call Noaulix by his name whenever talking to him. Like "oh, that would be good, Notaulix. But please, could I take a good look at your maw, Notaulix? It looks so inviting... do you think I can fit in there, Notaulix?"
>>37126875Nigga go back to aryion
Remember to give praise to our Strong Black Queens
>>37126454Good to hear. Thanks for the input.>>37126504That's intentional. As >>37126875 touches on, it's a quirk of changeling hive life. There's more to it than that, but it digs into potential spoiler material if you guys want to somehow coax the answers out of Notaulix yourself, though I honestly can't think of how you could go about doing that which wouldn't come off as overly pushy/nosey. Because of that, I can just explain some of it to you guys in spoilers if you're really interested.Although, perhaps you will meet someone in the future who may be able to tell you...
>>37127284On one hand, I'm curious. On another, we already know Notaulix way better than Anon and getting even more info would kind of feel like cheating. Like, making Anon act based on a knowledge that he himself lacks.
>>37127026I want to smooch her snoot.
>>37127690That's a good point, wonder if we'll learn more about Anon. How he got to Equestria, what he did beforehand, how fucking gay he is (probably very to go around calling himself Anon and wearing a green ski mask).
>>37127805He summoned a portal with the unholy idol.
>>37126504We need more ponk with bugs.
>>37127284Oh yeah CYOAman, can you remind me if the attack on Canterlot happened in this continuity? S1.5+changelings would seem to imply it diidn't, wondering if you kept that in. If yes, it should be pretty easy to figure out why ponies don't like bugs. If no, it raises a few questions on why they don't.
>>37128423>If no, it raises a few questions on why they don't.Chrysalis and Celestia's breakup was rough, and ponies have never forgiven bugs for it.
>>37127805Huh, upon looking at that picture a kissing both with a changeling would be a very profitable idea. They can charge more since they can transform into anyone the customer wants to kiss.
>>37124169>>37116835>>37117413>>37118876>>37124231>>37124260>>37124376>>37124389>>37124478>>37125813Gerson's Storyhttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3078>>37128423There's no Cadence, so there's no royal wedding. That particular attack did not happen.
>>37129622Looks good to me
>>37129622Darn, shouldn't have slept in! That seems like a good start for now, how much time do we have left in the day?
>>37129622Best case scenario the sticks would be used to generate fire and warmth since they live in the cold bowels of earth with their evil queen. Worst case scenario, he was pretty much a "special" drone and they assigned him to meaningless tasks just to keep him occcupied. Either way, he seems to be a fast learner and eager to help so he won't be a burden. The backstory is good. Maybe not enough to fool Gilda, but good enough for the Ponyville residents besides the Purple Overlord.
>>371296221. Seems like everything clicks.
>>37129622Acceptable. Maybe iron out some of the details with book info later, but I think that's the best possible take on it for now.
>>37131185Shower with Notaulix.I jest, would now be a good time to talk about either more changeling facts or briefing him on Everfree dangers? Either one would involve opening a book. Also tell him we'll be out for a little while tomorrow if we haven't already.
>>37131185It's shower time! Ask him if he wants to go first, though. After that, you'll still have some time, I'd think the best course is to brief him on your meeting with Gilda by tomorrow.
>>371296221. Sounds fine. Anon and Nota just need to be confident now.>>37130149Campfire sticks also require an actual amount of effort, even if it's still a "low level" job.

>>37131185>>37131291Shower Time!https://ponepaste.org/4086#3118>>37131204Notaulix is already aware that Anon's meeting with Gilda tomorrow.
>>371323521. is probably the most productive way to wrap up the day. Gather up the dirty laundry and grab/prepare what you need for a trip into the Everfree
>>37132352How do you pick your results anyway? Majority vote every time?I'll share the other guy's sentiment in gathering up our laundry ahead of time, but we have an appointment tomorrow so I don't think we're headed to the Everfree. When laundry duty is done I'd say get into the changeling info reading again, and Notaulix can join us for it when he's done in the shower until bed time. Regardless of how not-nice the pony's view of buggos is, we need to learn what they think before we can learn why they think it.
>>37132370I am banking on Gilda possibly bugging us to go into the Everfree. As such I figured it might be best to be prepared incase that happens.
>>37132381I somehow doubt that'll happen, but then again I had no idea why everyone assumed Gilda would come to our door and then she did. Still, sticking to my guns. I'd like to make progress towards the goals we've set, and I also don't think Notaulix should go back into the Everfree until he's had some safety training.
>>37132381If she does want us to take her into the Everfree it'd be the day after tomorrow not tomorrow.
I think, Bug.
>>37132370The results that are chosen depends on the situation. Usually there's an obvious group majority, but I try to incorporate as many ideas as possible, if appropriate. But sometimes when there's nobody posting, I have to just pick and choose what feels like will flow the best between two or three responses given. In other news, I'm feeling very demoralized today. I'm not going to bore you with my blogpost, but I don't know if I'm going to make another thread after this one.Don't worry about the CYOA though. I've been thinking real hard about moving it off of this board.

>>37133352I'd guess more the lack of activity. He was right in this being our lowest UIP since it started.
>>37133838Yeah, that is odd... I expected it to attract more interest since OP has been posting updates faster than usual, but instead we've got less than a fourth of the usual crowd interacting with it.

>>37133838I still blame the con
>>37135132Wouldn't know, didn't watch. But I guess it's either that, Anons got sick of how gay we are, or some other outside source. Did a disaster kill/injure bunch of people in the last two weeks?

>>37132352>>37132358>>37132370Evening Thoughtshttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3140The dirty laundry/clothes basket is in the bathroom, unfortunately. You'd have to go in the bathroom while Notaulix is doing his thing in order to gather those things, assuming the door was unlocked. You guys would like seeing Notaulix in the shower, wouldn't you? ^:)Also, I'm not ignoring the other questions. It's just been a long day and I don't feel like answering them at this hour.
>>37135939>Everypony: The Ancestral Tribes and Their HistoryHistory eyy? Seems like a good read to figure out why the pony's hate changlings so much.
>>37135939Don't know if there's anything relevant to be learned from the book on pony tribes, nor something we've already read once before. Let's be lazy and just relax.
>>37135939...Maybe, more for the silliness than lewdity though. sfw romance fag that I am.Any chance we'd actually learn anything changeling-related from the history book? If we haven't covered all of what Silver Quill's guide said on them I'd delve back into that one.
>>37135939It's not like he normally wears clothes.Wonder if he's softer after showering though.History might be useful, if it even mentions changelings.
>>37100942What's the sauce for the OP pic?
>>37135959>>37135961Just to clarify what it means by previously read:Silver Quill's guide was one of the early books that Twilight loaned Anon to help him learn about the world and adjust better not long after his initial arrival in Equestria. There's changeling information in there, which is what Anon based a lot of things off of on his initial encounter with Notaulix in the Everfree, but since that was a long time ago there may be things that he's forgotten, or simply wasn't interested enough to carefully read everything on the subject back then.>>37136255>That light switch cover>Bugs can't into glass when scaredWhat would you do in Anon's situation?
>>37136810Grab the one that got left behind, go back to bed and snuggle it to sleep.
Do changelings ever mate with each other? How does that work?
>>37137543That I'm curious about. Notaulix mentioned that a female changeling got pregnant from a stallion, but I wonder what the offspring would be, or what would happen if a male Changeling impregnated a female from another species.I suppose only the Queen can lay Changeling eggs, though.
>>37137608Maybe it comes out as a natural born pony, I imagine giving birth to a changling would very quickly ruin the ruse.
>>37137646This sounds right, and it makes sense if you assume that changing into another species also includes the balls. You could probably only have a changeling foal if you slept with a changeling that was still a changeling.
>>37137608>>37137702It raises a lot of questions how changelings work in this 'verse, they almost seem more OP than the later seasons of the show with regards to their shapeshifting ability. Literally turning into things instead of just as disguises, with shit like persistent feathers and increased physical ability. And especially the pregnancy thing, yes.
>>37135939>>37135954>>37136467>>37136518History Bookhttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3152>>37137719That's not a good sign for me if they're coming off as overpowered.
Anyone else feel they Chryssi dirty? she literally had the most understandable motivation out of any MLP antagonist.
>>37139415Well, more overpowered compared to what I would do (I slap a ton of limitations on stuff because I think it makes it easier to use in a plot), it just seemed a little like while digging into Notaulix's limitations we've yet to discover if he has any. Hell, Star Trek changelings can't maintain anything separated from their body. Pregnancy thing is definitely the most outlandish though, no idea how that'd work biologically. Still, more curious what your plan is than put off. I imagine shapeshifting complications will be a future happening. Also just realized we're on our bed and not in the living room, must've missed that last time.Anyway, unless other Anons really want to get into pony history I'd still like to go back to Silver Quill's guide. if I'm drastically outvoted I guess I'd look at alicorns? Might be something to hint at Celestia's reaction to us.Thestrals, I've always hated that the fandom tried to adopt that term for bat ponies. It literally doesn't exist outside Harry Potter.
>>371394152.1 even if we don't learn anything more about changelings I'll take reading about monsters and exotic creatures over reading about pony races.
>>37139415>Nothing about changling'sAw dang guy's, looks like we are going to have to go back to the other book!Actually though, if >>37139453 didn't include that spoiler about Therstrals I wouldn't think this book had changlings in it, so I doubt Anon would either. So it would make sense for him to go back to the Silver Quill's guide instead.
>>37139433That's only true if you take the common-sense perspective that Chrysalis is mother to her drones as well as Queen, and that disguising and feeding on love is part of the changelings' nature that could be reformed but never stopped. The Haberverse destroyed both these assumptions by reducing Chrysalis' motivations to "she's evil", never definitively stating that she's a mom, and allowing every changeling to undergo a bullshit transformation into a "good" gaydeer.
At a glance, it almost looks like they're making eye contact.
>>37139415Regarding Changelings being overpowered, that's a difficult matter to work with since the canon doesn't really delve in details about their physiology and powers. All we get is that they need to absorb energy from their targets (if they actually trick the target into "loving" them there's no penalty, but they can drain it by force and this harms the target), and can morph into a copy of another being. However, they -are- gifted in that they are pretty much Pegasi that can use limited magic and morph.Their rendition in your story isn't bad. Some fanfics do go way too overboard with them being as strong as a regular alicorn (as in, besides Celestia, Luna and Twilight), being able to morph and their emotion sensing power is almost mind reading (they know what the others are feeling and if they're lying).
>>37139415Read Silver Quill's book again.I suggest that Anon should look not for books about races, but books about monsters and beasts. It feels like the other races see Changelings as either cunning monsters or mindless beasts hellbent on causing chaos and preying the other races and creatures of the world.
I just spent the last few hours reading through the cyoa, and I love it so far. Cannot wait for more. Also, does Gilda possibly have a thing for anon, or did I misinterpret that?
>>37140983If I remember Notaulix said stuff removed from takes a massive toll on their magic, cause it has to make up the difference.
>>37139415>>37139453>>37139476>>37139518>>37141163>>37141805A Familiar Guidehttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3163>>37141558I'm glad that you like it. What exactly do you enjoy from this story? I'm always interested in the perspective of people who have quickly caught up from the start with a fresh mind.
>>37143270More likely the differences in the depiction are just differences you'd see on every changeling, since metawise we already know a lot of changelings can be told apart by stuff like their ear stalks for instance.I would honestly take the book and go read it with Notaulix, making sure to assuage him if it says anything particularly mean. Again, need to understand what ponies know about changelings, what they think of them and why they don't like them, so we can start building bridges from there.
>>37143270Might be a mare, or younger.Ask Notaulix if he'd like to go through it with you after you shower.
>>37143270Keep reading please
>>37143270Keep reading, we can ask our questions with our boy Notaulix once we get all info from the book. No reason to read a page, go to Notaulix and then go back to reading. Hell, Anon is just looking at a picture right now!
Few Anons possess the fortitude or endurance to master bug-riding. However, those that do have become the fiercest raiders of pony traffic in all Equestria.
>>37145717>It's Akira but with Bug Bikers
>>37143270>I'm always interested in the perspective of people who have quickly caught up from the start with a fresh mind.I caught up with this a little after the Canterlot trip. Part of me wishes it could go faster so I get more content but I know that's being greedy, and I like being able to participate this time. Although I haven't posted for a few updates just from not having anything new to add to the conversation.
>>37145717Reminds me of the mulefa from His Dark Materials.
>>37143270>>37143410>>37143421Further Readinghttps://ponepaste.org/4086#3181Did a small round of typo hunting, which has been updated on the paste. The first one that I noticed was on line 31. How did nobody notice that after all these months? If you see a typo or other weirdness, please let me know.>>37146646For what it's worth, I wish I could write faster. I'm usually a slow writer.
>>37147023Abductions and attacks would certainly be 'why' ponies dislike them, but of course our friendship with Notaulix seems directly counter to it so far. Feeding on love being a lie is interesting but that likely just goes with the distrust. So far it really doesn't seem like he means any harm to us and has been fairly genuine. The fangs actually remain the most interesting point I think, because so far Notaulix has seemed very squeamish about the prospect of eating meat, and we know he sure eats... not-meat.As for what to do with this information, that's a tough one. The sensible deduction would be that changelings are individuals and any evil they've done is due to evil leadership.I suppose we could go discuss this with Notaulix but it may just get him depressed, maybe do that another time when it's not just before bed time. Maybe go over his first time out, since we never actually got the chance to yet?
>>37147023It keeps insisting changelings bite ponies, Notaulix hasn't attempted to do so, which means the biting is probably unrelated to the feeding process. Ponies wouldn't just make stuff up and try to pass it off as fact would they? If they aren't making it up it is possible changelings are venomous and are using the bites to subdue/incapacitate ponies, maybe a soporific or paralytic, maybe it messes with short term memory a little? What if the scenario is: Pony/other creature notices a disguised changeling is acting weird and decides to confront them, the changeling does the bite thing and flees, pony wakes up or is discovered, medical examination reveals they were bitten and they remember thinking that they were going after a changeling. Therefore "They were attacked by a changeling." and "They were unconscious therefore the changeling took their life force." are not unreasonable conclusions from the evidence of that encounter. How do they know if Changeling homes are filthy, have they ever visited one or is it hearsay? Same with their queen being "evil."We really need to ask Notaulix about his fangs, huh?
>>37147023>- If their disguise happens to fail, changelings may try and claim that they simply feed from "Love" in an attempt to garner sympathy, in order to deceive and hide their true intentions>- Changeling attacks are almost always carried out on isolated individuals, where the act won't be seen by others>mfwThis is a tricky situation. I don't want to disregard the book completely but what the previous two anon says also makes sense. Given where this CYOA is taking place, I know there's an inherent bias in changelings' favor, but maybe we should entertain for a moment that the book is correct and that Notaulix had been an incredibly good actor all along? Like a said, tricky, and I couldn't think of any way to verify or discredit either side's claims.
>>37147023That's enough for the day, but maybe you could ask Empress Twilight about this Iron Bit fellow tomorrow.
>>37147023If it is in a book then clearly it must be right, contact the Royal Guard or the Princess and report Notaulix.
>>37147363its bull shit
Anyone notice that these older books mention just a single princess? Nice little nod to being produced during Luna's banishment when Celestia was the only one ruling.
>>37150400I can't actually think of anything off the top of my head to talk about. Maybe we should ask Notaulix if there's anything on his mind before we settle in for the night. Maybe something to do tomorrow when we're done meeting Gilda?
>>371504002. It is time to slumber
>>37150400I think now would be a good time to start our own book on changelings to challenge the other writings. Doesn't have to be too much since we're going to bed soon, just make a title page and an introduction about why we're writing it.
>>371504003. Sit there and chillax for a while longer
>>37150400Wish him a good night and go back to bed.
>>37153938Loved it so much I tried to turn it into a tf2 spray
>>37155274It will be downsized to 256x256.You want to shave off as much transparency as possible, while maintaining 1:1 ratio if you want to maintain as much quality as possible.
>>37155501https://rafradek.github.io/Mishcatt/Actually apparently spray sizes of up to 1024p is possible is you're willing to go with 1bit alpha, according to this tool that I used. I didn't want to sacrifice the semi transparency, so knocking it down to 720p seems to do the trick.
>>37155597It refuses to load other sizes for me when I tested them, or rather only the top left corner of them anyways.
>>37155602Huh odd. Though I should probably mention that although I call it TF2 spray, I've been using them primarily in l4d2 since that's what I primarily play, though I don't think it should make any difference.Question: did you download VMT and VTF file and put them in the tf/materials/vgui/logos folder, or did you use the in-game import?
>>37155713Use a .vtf and .vtm fabricator meant for modding and map creation. l4d2 handles them differently than tf2 though if I remember correctly. I'm gonna test that site, see if it makes em different enough that hi-res sprays actually work, not hopeful for it though.
>>37155747>>37155713Have confirmed: doesn't work.
