What makes a thread good for you, Anon? What makes you stop your catalog browsing and entices you to discuss the show?I've been browsing for a while now and I feel like I'm swathing through so much shit now that my hidden threads start to become more numerous than non-hidden threads.Perhaps maybe my definition of shit is too broad, so I want to know what it is (YOU) enjoy most about a thread, what you want to see more, what is an immediate turn off that makes you hide a thread, recurring threads in the past that no longer appear but you wish would make a resurgence, etc.tl;dr>ITT Define what a good thread is
Images of Rarity get a click.
>>36825081>What makes a thread good for you, Anon?A thread without autists is already a good enough thread.
>>36825081EqG prompt threads usually snag my attention for whatever reason. I guess they're not necessarily "good", but they grab me anyways. Also fetish keywords. If I spot it, maybe in a comment, or image or thread title, I may quickly scout the thread to see if it's worth staying in, and if warranted, posting or contributing in. Almost never care for E-drama, might check out some news threads if they're particularly relevant or juicy. I don't care for the vast majority of generals save my own waifu thread. There's probably more, but this is a good general start for me.
>>36825081I really enjoy threads that talk about the lore of the show, touch on characterizations or relationship dynamics, or have an interesting thread prompt (so many of them are shitty, the discord one up right now at least has some effort put into it).Art threads and new pony content threads are also right up my alley.Projects are good too, but theyre exhausting to read through. To go back to the top though, I absolutely love worldbuilding and talking about it. For example, pegasi can punch clouds and move them. But if an anon tried to punch a cloud, would he just go through it? Or not? Why are pegasi able to interact with them specifically? Hollow bones make sense in order to fly, but do they also offer them that power?>36722649 was an example of a great thread like this>>36825127The first paragraph I vehemently disagree with. The drama threads I'll usually skim if only to get a general idea of whats going on or whether its important or not, but its usually bullshit.
>>36825195>>36722649let me properly link that thread, it deserves it
A thread that is actually on-topic about ponies is good for me and I'll participate in it and create content readily.>>36825127Kill yourself offboarder.
>>36825195Once upon a time I used to love lore threads as well, the seemingly infinite potential and mystery and speculation. However all that was killed by the showrunners themselves knifing it to death, and somehow for some reason, the fandom followed suit, becoming less and less creative and interesting as time went on, either as a symptom or extension of the writers' murderkill of lore. As such, Equestria just became a much less interesting place to talk about with others and it just seems to be a general idea that floats around in my head as memories of seasons 1 and 2 now. That's kinda why it's just EqG which seems to snag me anymore. At least EqG isn't pretending to be more than it is, full of empty and hollow promises of grandeur. Less disappointment, I guess. Also I'm a hopeless coomer.
>>36825234This is part of the reason I love reading through the /co/ archives, so much life to them. Things that we honestly take for granted about the show are endlessly questioned and explored there. Would highly recommend reading there and watching earlier episodes. Also, if you straight up ignore other seasons existing, it really opens things back up to interpretation, and you csn start having fun again.>Also Im a hopeless coomer.Alas, Im stuck in that trench right now too. Trying to crawl out of it.
>>36825081Threads that look like they might actually be about ponies. No EQG or humanized bullshit.
>>36825081If it's not a recurring thread and OP seems to be written in good faith, then I'm likely to read and reply.
>>36825081Serious discussions like if ponies wear socks when sleeping.
>>36825373Well? Do they?
>>36825081That's too broad and esoteric question I feel. Good threads just happen, usually ones where anons are just busy funposting instead of endlessly flinging shit at eachother.I was going to list off what makes a thread instantly shit but that'd be used against the board by (You)-hungry interlopers guaranteed. I'm not going to compile a "how to shit up /mlp/" guide.Any retarded bait thread really is a no-go that only serves to clog the catalog. Problem is it's the same old tired bait and anons just can't keep themselves from showering them with attention every time. It's a real shame SOME of those threads never get pruned by our wonderful moderation team, I wonder why that is ^:)
>>36825234>Also I'm a hopeless coomer.>>36825253>Alas, Im stuck in that trench right now too. Trying to crawl out of it.You're kidding right? I will never understand people like this. Nothing wrong with rubbing one out.
>>36825234>At least EqG isn't pretending to be more than it isJust because it doesn't pretend to be more than a dumpster fire doesn't make it good or decent or hell even watchable.
>>36825394Socks are essential for a good night's sleep.
>>36825081A variety of ideas, fics, and a lack of trolling.
>>36825503>tfw didnt feel the need to fap for months after discovering poneit was wondrous and all I cared about were cute ponies being absolutely wonderfulnow, after sexualizing them, I fear I will never be able to see things that same way again
Well, I like threads that aren't autistic generals like 90% of this board is, personally.
>>36825081if it has a cute enough pony, I'll probably click to see what's upbut t b h, what really gets me is high drama shit. if I know it's gonna be a shitstorm, i gotta go in and see. you can usually tell which threads are high drama. they are the ones with 100+ posts.
>>36825554>he doesn't enjoy shitting up the site
>>36825234in the beginning, possibilities are endlesswe speculate, and theorizethen little by little writers close doorsuntil one day, we have nothing to talk aboutand if you try to think outside the box, some itscanonfag will pull you back into that crab bucketthe show killed the lore, which killed the stream of ideas. i blame the showbut i also blame bronies that religiously say X Y or Z can't happen because Vogel or Dubuc said it can't in some shitty episode.
>>36825589shitting up the site is like half the traffic these days
>>36825081I stop posting in threads when eqg shows up
>>36825081>no spoonfeeding>just ponies>telling unironic shipfags to fuck off>telling normalfags and tourists to fuck off>telling newfags to lurk moarthat about sums it up, mostly.
>>36825081I outright ignore threads with eqg in them and usually leave them if it gets spammed. I used to use filters more aggressively but now I mostly just hide or ignore garbage. It at least keeps you aware of the board trends. I usually avoid generals but sometimes I peak in to steal images and there's a few I lurk. Heavily fetish or porn threads I mostly ignore, they're usually stale or bad. Other than that if it has ponies I'll enter it. I'm pretty bad about keeping up with threads though. I really like character threads and browse a bunch of them. Themed image threads are usually what I go for I guess.
>>36825554This, a huge amount of the catalog is generals I don’t care about. For me, the prompt threads are usually the best, as much as people complain about them, they tend to either fall right off the board or trigger good discussion or green.
>>36825234EqG pretended to be everything it wasn't. It literally kept stringing along its fans with different directions and dumb bait. I can't even count how many different times someone told me eqg was going to get good because they had a direction. The last I remember was someone telling me it was going to be magic school girl anime thing and then they it turned out their element things were just gimmicks. Some said it was going to focus on Sunset. It did literally nothing. They didn't even graduate.
>>36825081Meta threads are the worst of them all, that is all I have to say.
Why is there not a thread, if not a whole subgenre of greentexts of anons getting /mared/?It just seems like the most obvious thing in the world right now that there'd be stories where POV anon starts dating a regular human girl and they're starting to get into each-other or something similar only through some miraculous means a pony shows up and works at stealing anon's heart. All of it eventually leading to anon's faithfulness to his old fiancee as the pony of his dreams snatches him away? It's like the perfect intersection of scandalous and wish fulfillment and people are always going on about how mares are superior to human women or whatever, like maybe it was a thing for a while and I just completely missed it.
>>36827897Sounds like shit
>>36825081Anything barbie and poochie gets either auto-filtered or hidden with extreme prejudice and disgustAnything pony life gets the same treatment, albeit with less disgustGenerals I don't like are all filtered. I don't hate them, but if I'm not interested they have no reason to stay on the catalog.Random shitty low effort threads are given a once-over and hidden.Normal threads I don't find interesting get the same treatment. They may linger on the catalog for a while if I think they have potential. What remains are neutral threads I check daily or every other day, and favorite threads I check several times a day, which are highlighted and pinned to the top of the catalog.>what makes a good threadWaifu/favorite ponies generals, greentexts and content creation, fandom drama if it's kept in one thread, quality shitposting.
>>368250812/3 discussion, 1/3 pic posting, 0 faggotry.
>>36828451based. i only have around 9-20 threads on the catalog and the rest are filtered.
>>36825593Reject "canon", embrace a world of wild possibilities.
>>36825582>but t b h, what really gets me is high drama shit. if I know it's gonna be a shitstorm, i gotta go in and see. you can usually tell which threads are high drama. they are the ones with 100+ posts. This is the exact opposite with me, if I notice a thread about some random shit I don't care about gets 100+ replies in an hour I don't even click on it.
