There might be some salvageable parts, like the character designs are cute or interesting lore that actually compliments the established FiM world. I don't think it's "Hasbro hates the fandom and wants nothing to do with us", it's more "Hasbro sees us as extra income and panders to us for money, but isn't down with the porn/bad press" because there was a time MLP was a plague on Hot Topic. They went out of their way to design brony targeted merchandise with it's own branding of black and white. They were just fine with milking the fandom for all it was worth in it's fad days, and if they really hated us I don't think Slice of Life (in all it's cringy glory) would exist. This is why I don't think they're ever going back to the days of mindless drivel being MLP's supplementary material, because they know that from G4 onwards MLP will always be inexplicably tied to media outside of the toy line. They can't do tea parties and cupcake parties anymore, because it will drive more buzz to their brand (and by extension their products) if it has an actual story to tell. Of course, the writing will probably end up shitty in the wrong hands, but they really can't go back to G3.

And the way they advanced the story to "more responsibilities!", "less comfy things!", and "change everything!" was pretty off-putting. I miss Twilight being just a casual nerdy unicorn who lives in a tree library and hangs out with her friends. Her being a god-like princess of most of the known world against her will is not very relatable to me.
