The reason a lot of these designs don't work or look bland is because the AI is just mashing together a bunch of designs from existing artists. So none of the AI designs stand out. And in the case of unique design requests (such as "make me a mecha out organic materials with a cute anime girl sitting inside it" ) the anime has no idea what to do and makes a strange design with way too much details. The details themselves don't make sense either as it's just way too muxb greebling in strange areas.
