>>22114932Meiya looks ugly as sin there, I wouldn't keep playing even if the game was good. How did nobody in charge figure that out?
So question for you Anons what got you into Muv Luv and why are you still a fan?
>>22116753I was one of the many anons watching Madoka in 2011, and after the episode 3 twist I remember a repeated comment that Mami got Marimo'd. Next thing I new there was a Muv Luv Anime on the horizon and a considerable degree of hype for it. So I downloaded the fansub version, sat down and read it. And here I am today. Where the fuck did all the time go?
>>22115521I wonder what happened to this Meiya design.
>>22116929Isn't that from Mikhail?
>>22116954You mean this one?
the really fucked up thing about dimensions dying is that it has all the visual novels in it for free, its the ultimate "this IP is worthless" message
History repeats itself with nextninja...
>>22117390actually, it only has chunks of them. you can't even read past the coup in alt. also the jp crowd already read the vns, this is not new content. if anyone knows what tf dimensions story is about, how does it compare? is it okayish or like TE?
>>22118015Well, I'm enjoying the story so far. I am MTLing most of it since i don't know that much moon but it's still interesting as a story arc. MLT kind of sucks the subtleties and character interactions out. The beach event story was fun too.
>>22118073>but it's still interesting as a story arc.Ok, but what is it about?
>>22116753Got in because of my waifus. Stayed because of my waifus and the story was pretty good too.
>>22116753More or less the same as this guy >>22118182. Plus I like the look of 1st/2nd gen TSFs..
>>22116753Some guy in /tmg/ posted the drawing of Meiya sitting on Takeru's lap from the LN.
I just finished the trilogy and have a few autistic questions. Do you guys remember the scene in Muv-Luv when Takeru takes Sumika to the amusement park and there are a bunch of shady dudes watching them behind a potted plant or some shit? Who were they? In Takeru's early flashbacks the girl that gets taken away was actually Kasumi, no? She always said bye-bye to Takeru but he never corrected her or connected the dots. Was Mikoto's dad kill?Yuuko really wasn't a baddie all along? Why did they do that spooky scene where what is assumed to be a mind controlled Sakaki call Takeru but give no pay off to that? Was Alternate's ending a troll and am I missing something?
>>22118268>Who were they? The other girls, I think. See the scene where Meiya bursts onto the stage to vanquish the evildoers. >Kasumi, MikotoNo, and Kasumi doesn't exist in Extra. Read the other routes in Extra.>Yuuko really wasn't a baddie all along? Why do you think she is? Yuuko was just doing what she felt that she had to, just like everyone else in that part of society.>SakakiSeriously, man, did you erase Meiya from your mind? I'm pretty sure she even admits they had Yuuko prepare a voice changer.>EndingWhat about it is troll?
Is Muv-Luv Dimension worth a try?Last time I tried it, it was bugged as hell and was taken down.
I'm gonna be real with you bros. Sumika returning Takeru's gift and that entire stretch where she told him she didn't want to be with him was APEX shit testing and honestly incredibly well written. Only someone who truly understands female psychology could have wrote that.
>>22118804no its still shit
>>22118268>>22118304Wait a second, whose route in Extra did you even read? It certainly wasn't Sumika's or Meiya's.
>>22118268lol
>>22119481I only did Sumika and Meya in extra. I was talking about pic related. Anon said these people are apparently the girls in disguise? >>22119535Don't laugh at me pls.
>>22119542How did you miss that Meiya is the girl that gets taken away? What the fuck?
>>22119586I know that was "what was said" But I couldn't get over the fact that that Kasumi always said bye-bye to Takeru and there was a scene in Alternate after Takeru fled back to his old timeline because he was traumatized by Marimo's death where Meiya woke Takeru up on the roof of the school and acted strangely like Kasumi for a moment. Forgive me, I'm one of those schizos who hyper analyzes random small things. One of my early theories about the series was that the original time line was a fake and that Yuuko and Kasumi worked together to groom and pull Takeru into their timeline to help them save the world. So I thought that there was a possibility that Kasumi WAS Meiya in the original timeline. Obviously that was refuted in the last scene in Alternate when Kasumi says Sumika was the one who caused the timelines to get fucked up. Oh yeah on a completely unrelated note what the fuck was up with Meiya talking about how "she wasn't human" in extra? Was that some kind of joke?
>>22119620Kasumi's "bye-bye" is a quirk she picked up from Sumika.Meiya was raised with the idea that she is a tool for the Mitsurugi zaibatsu; the idea that she had to cast her individualism aside.
>>22118268>Do you guys remember the scene in Muv-Luv when Takeru takes Sumika to the amusement park and there are a bunch of shady dudes watching them behind a potted plant or some shit? Who were they? The three stooges and Meiya or Tsukuyomi. They appear in several of the dates.>In Takeru's early flashbacks the girl that gets taken away was actually Kasumi, no?No, it's Meiya. >Was Mikoto's dad kill?Maybe.>Yuuko really wasn't a baddie all along? It's up to you to decide. She does terrible things and knows it, but what cost is too great when the survival of humanity is on the line? >Why did they do that spooky scene where what is assumed to be a mind controlled Sakaki call Takeru but give no pay off to that?I don't remember that at all...>Was Alternate's ending a troll and am I missing something?Define "troll."
>>22116753>what got you into Muv Luv/vn/'s beginner rec>and why are you still here?is there anything else out there like it? the closest I've seen is blue gender annnnnd that is it (and even then the series is much more grounded than ml).there's barely any (good) isekai vn's available in the first place and even less that also comes with the other themes of ml.So, no competition whatsoever in vn's and even in anime/manga is there anything that could compete directly atm?>>22119620meds
Why did avex not bring back the ero for muvluv when the entire reason the Kickstarter was such a huge success was because ero was promised behind age's back?
>>22120822>when the entire reason the Kickstarter was such a huge success was because ero was promised behind age's back?>implying it wasn't destroyer-chan that single-handedly made the kickstarter succeed.
>>22120822because ero means you can never get type-moon moneythey don't want a decently succesful eroge franchise, they want Fate. If they can't get that they would rather have nothing
>>22121189But Fate never had to stoop to a kickstarter for a translation of the original story. Fate even got its eroge version emphasized over the all ages adaptation with Fate Zero and the HF movie.
>>22121189>because ero means you can never get type-moon moneywhy is there so much FGO porn though
>>22121301because artists are hacks who just want to make a quick buck so they jump onto anything popular. Blue archive has more porn now
>>22121254Muv-Luv already had a translation and I'm pretty sure the Sakura h-scenes exist in some capacity in Realta Nua, more so than in UBW.
Are the patches for TDA00 and 01 still available anywhere? I thought they got deleted when the archive got deleted.>>22116753>what got you into Muv LuvI thought the mecha designs were cool. I was originally turned off by the galge aspect of the series but I ended up really enjoying Extra once I stopped being a faggot. >why are you still a fan? There's a lot to love. Great worldbuilding, interesting plot elements, the geopolitical intrigue, a few good characters, and the mecha designs are also still cool. The Shiranui is probably my favourite mecha design ever, or at least in my top three. The Raptor is probably in my top five as well.
>>22116753>So question for you Anons what got you into Muv LuvCool robots and gore>and why are you still a fan?Authors' autism over geopolitics, politics, strategy, tactics, R&D, designs, properly done characters, romansu, cool robots and gore
I wonder if Reddit appreciates my sense of humor.
>>22122238Stay there.
>>22116753Got because someone posted Sylwia during SM anime and she was beautiful enough to get me interested in Schwarzesmarken and later Muv Luv as a whole.

>>22116753Someone on /v/ made a thread about BETA unit composition and how it was bullshit Jap autism. Then they started posting parallels to Starship Troopers and referencing random bits of Alternative. I clicked whatever wikia links were posted and since I like aviation I enjoyed the fact IRL jets got turned into mecha (I wasn't that into the genre by then) and the link with the full timeline got me hooked on this shit.
>>22128168That sounds like a cool thread. Post a link if you got it.
>>22126758>>22126794the duality of mlg
>>22118891You referring to the 00 unit rejecting Takeru before the twizzler scene?
>>22116753Saw it on a visual novel thread on /v/ I think. Was around july last year. Had three weeks of vacation and just binged the shit out of it. It has been years since I've been this enthralled with a franchise and I try to shill it to everyone that is even remotely open to it. I've shared quite a bit of my playthrough with mlg and it was an awesome experience.I'm quite fresh in the franchise and not as jaded as many other which is why I'm still looking forward to new things and don't want the franchise to die.
>>22116753I first heard about mub rub before it was translated when it would get brought up in threads about cool mecha series. the total eclipse illustrations would get posted in anime girl threads too. I ended up reading the first game some time after it got translated because someone lied to me and said the whole thing was translated. I was real confused when I got to the end without ever seeing the aliens. fortunately for me the alternative translation leak was only a few months later. funnily I had been spoiled about chomp but by the time I actually got to the scene I had forgotten all the specifics so I was completely surprised.
>>22128285Yep, that's exactly what I was talking about. I would have 100% failed that shit test and to be fair Takeru nearly did too if not for his pal Meiya.
>>22128387Understandably so. Her absolutely devastating cruelty in alienating and isolating him would've for sure thrown most people completely off. Meiya came through just in time.
>>22127999Serene Haze's real name is likely just a reference to the Sumika that assists the Raven in Project Phantasma, and is probably unrelated to our #1 dork childhood friendDoesn't stop me from imagining her as an older Sumika, but still
>>22128164>DO WHAT I WANT DO WHAT I NEED
>>22128289You're a little late to not want that. The fate of the franchise rested on the gacha's performance and it's now in freefall.
>>22128928the true redpill is realizing that the gacha doesn't even matter, even if it beat FGO avex wouldn't greenlight VN development. It's been like 7 years since they bought âge, they're just looking for excuses
final age stream: "I can't breathe"
>>22128957It's kinda sad to think Mikhail and the Muv Luv Gacha are the only two games they have produced in those years.
>>22128198Man that was years ago, no way I can find it.
>>22129075Mikhail was supposed to be a gacha too...
I just don't get it. Why would you not just make VNs? That's what this is a series of, that's what it's good at.
is it true?
>>22129818the fanbase is full of cocksuckers for sure, both overseas and Japan. It's almost like a cult, way more than what is normal for franchises. There's still people who won't admit S3 of the anime got canned for example
>>22129818Nah.
>>22129823That says something about Muv Luv's writing that it has created a fanbase so devout that they've been whaling on a shitty Gacha in an attempt to keep the franchise alive even when it might be better off dead.
>>22129823The anime apologia needs to stop.
>>22129888You'll find a lot of people like that for a bunch of franchises. It's not that unusual.
>>22129793God as a Kei/Sumikafag I do not like Kei’s face Dimensions
>>22129818How the fuck did he take that away from the political side of MLA? I got America = The Great Satan which is factually correct. They literally helped stage that coup to try to stop Alternate 4 from happening as well as expand their influence over Japan. Also throughout all the Yuuko info dumping she was constantly talking about how America was more focused on making sure that they maintained their global hegemony in the post-BETA world than they were on fighting the BETA themselves.
>>22130325Read the manga. It's peak globohomo.
>>22129888>whalingWith that ranking?
>>22129804Either they don't think they can make a profit or, and this is more likely considering their behavior, it wouldn't be profitable enough for them. These numbers are just to make a point but why make a good VN and get 100 bucks in profit when you could try your luck with gambling addict's and possibly make 1000?Still, I'd argue it would be wise to invest into one or two VN's first to revive the IP and bring attention to it. Then again talent is necessary for this and we are clearly surrounded by idiots.
>>22130325If you manage to ignore Yuuko talking about how the US is a democracy that doesn't consist entirely of Alt V supporters and her remark that US combat doctrine is pragmatic as a whole even though the Japanese fucking hate them for it or how absolutely batshit insane Alt IV is then sure. Many would also be quick to point to TE but this feels very post hoc so I'll avoid it.

How much of the VN does the Total Eclipse anime not cover?
>>22131075>vatnik>deleted postMeds, now.
>>22131138The last fifth or so. Which is arguably the part where the VN's story starts to come apart. It's fair to say the further the VN gets from the Anime, the worse its storytelling becomes as it becomes strangely unfinished and half baked, like Kouki had to throw the ending together on the fly.

>>22134175I kinda lumped it in with Dimensions to be honest with youmeiya can't stop losing
I feel like I should be a Meiyafag but the game is really really good at psyoping you into being a Sumikafag. They should study the Muv-luv trilogy for how to make propaganda.
>>22134544>Regenerativemore like degenerative am I right bros?
>>22134996One of the reasons SM bellyflopped is that they couldn't decide who was the Sumika. Sometimes it was Katia, other times it was Lise. They eventually settled on the latter but it was way too late for the series by then. Ironically, Iris bombed with people who liked Theo.
>>22134996I don't know that feel at all, anon. How? She's not even there for most of it.
>>22135018Kouki told me the next issue will just take longer bro he would never lie to except all the times that are on record where he lied
>>22135176>Introduce fun, bubbly childhood friend who loves you unconditionally and who gets jealous at silly little things. Also has an extremely striking character design.>take her away for a long time and tease her over and over conditioning you to miss her more>chomp happens, Takeru running away arc happens. Super sentimental Sumika section. Her fighting to remember Takeru with her diary entries, etc etc. She gets in the brutal accident. >You miss her more>she comes back in extremely damaged state>bond with her and gradually help her regain her sanity>rejection scene>twizzler scene>reconciliation + sex sceneIt's over you've been conditioned to love Sumika at this point. I think the main thing to learn from a propaganda perspective here is: give someone something very nice, take it away, and then give it back is extremely powerful.
>>22135223>It's over you've been conditioned to love Sumika at this point.Sounds like a (You) problem, anon. She was good in Extra and the PTSD arc, that's it. S00mika sucked. All the stuff about helping he regain her sanity was repetitive as shit, and the rejection/twizzlers/sex scene sequence was ridiculous. And then she just kind of exists for the rest of the VN before she dies off-screen.
>>22135237>S00mika sucked.I agree, there should have been more Extraverse Sumika in there, the way there's a lot of Extraverse Takeru in Shirogane-kun. As-is there's only the ominous implication that she died offscreen to mirror how S00mika destroyed Alternative Sumika's brain. Wouldn't object to more scenes of her in her suit, she had the sexiest one of them all.
>>22135255>I agreeI'm not sure you do. By that I mean she sucks in Alternative outside of Extraverse Sumika. Considering Alternative is ostensibly the Sumika route, that's a pretty big problem. >Wouldn't object to more scenes of her in her suit, she had the sexiest one of them all. That's another thing. If Alternative was really Sumika propaganda or whatever, why does she stop being a character when she's hooked up to the Susanoo? Why not keep her conscious during that and make her a member of the squad?
>>22135276>By that I mean she sucks in Alternative outside of Extraverse SumikaYes. I do not like how Alternative treats Sumika, and that gets some people very angry for whatever reason. Extraverse Sumika gets a dramatic twist that she didn't have in her original route, a sweet reconciliation with Takeru and tragedy as she loses everything in her life, and then that's about it. If you're already predisposed to liking Sumika then you'll latch onto this part, but for a story that originally started as the Sumika route for Unlimited, Kouki dropped the ball.>why does she stop being a character when she's hooked up to the Susanoo? Sumika arguably stops being a character long before that. When you first meet S00mika, she's a vegetable. There's a few scenes to try to humanize her but she never interacts with the others afterwards. This isn't even a case of things being implied, we have moments like the Meiya getting cuckqueaned scene to SHOW that Sumika is a loner. In the big finale against the Superior, she's effectively a vegetable again, and then she's dead.>Why not keep her conscious during that and make her a member of the squad?Because she turned into a plot device instead of a heroine. In the middle of ranting about nationalism and Americans, Kouki just couldn't find the time to write about love in a story about saving in the name of true love.
>>22135237Sound like you have shit taste against the 00 unit.>repetitiveThose scenes are not even that many, and there is a good enough progression for the traumatized girl that make them worth it.>scene sequenceI played the steam version and there is nothing ridiculous about them, the sex scene right after is fine giving that they are in the a world where they can die in battle anytime.>die off-sceenYou just don't know that she is giving her last energy to make sure they eliminated the Superordinate and Takeru and Kasumi can get out alive but you get to know that after, she then was able to say some word of thank to Takeru in his mind and get a peaceful death knowing she saved and free Takeru from that world and helped the Betaverse.
>>22135302I never said your dislike of Alternative's treatment of Sumika was a problem, moron.
>>22135340I said some, not all. I wasn't including you in the some, anon. Chin up! (:>>22135318>Those scenes are not even that many, That's the problem, S00mika barely gets screentime in the first place, and what scenes she does get are repetitive with her being a seething vegetable. She eventually stops seething and then she's nothing.>there is a good enough progression To what?>there is nothing ridiculous about themAnon, about the only major screentime S00mika gets is a cuckshit scene where she gets tentacle raped. That's ridiculous. It's especially egregious when the game doesn't equate Extraverse Sumika with S00mika, so it's this new character who kinda resembles the original one but has none of her personality. >You just don't know that Anon, narrative justifications after the fact don't change that as far as the story is written, Sumika dies off screen. That's a pathetic fate for a main heroine who didn't end up doing much.
>>22135302>Yes. I do not like how Alternative treats Sumika>If you're already predisposed to liking Sumika then you'll latch onto this part, but for a story that originally started as the Sumika route for Unlimited, Kouki dropped the ball.>Because she turned into a plot device instead of a heroine. In the middle of ranting about nationalism and Americans, Kouki just couldn't find the time to write about love in a story about saving in the name of true love.Ah. Then nevermind. In the big finale against the Superior, she's effectively a vegetable again, and then she's dead. There's a difference between being underutilized and not being a character. She might as well not exist for the finale, and there's no reason she couldn't have been one then.I kinda wonder if it's on purpose. Are we really supposed to like Sumika as much as Takeru does? It's always sorta felt like you're meant to keep on liking Meiya or, to a lesser extent, your favorite other girl despite the Sumika focus. Compare Meiya's death to Sumika's, it's night and day. >>22135340What the hell do you think you're doing?
>>22135361To add to it, S00mika being as divorced from the rest of the cast means we're robbed of what should be one of the best moments: the gang back together. Chizuru, Miki, Kei and Mikoto were her friends as well, and there should have been more then just that one scene where S00mika's introduced to them that goes nowhere. That should have been more of a cathartic moment where Takeru has all of his friends together that instead is just missed potential. Still better than Total Eclipse dumping 80% of its cast at the end though.
>>22135361>Ah. Then nevermind. It's fine, there are a few people around who, having just finished Alternative, are hyped because they played it for the overall story instead of Sumika herself so they have a rosier impression. Guess who was in the latter camp.>There's a difference between being underutilized and not being a character. She might as well not exist for the finale, and there's no reason she couldn't have been one then. There is, actually...>I kinda wonder if it's on purpose. Are we really supposed to like Sumika as much as Takeru does? It's always sorta felt like you're meant to keep on liking Meiya or, to a lesser extent, your favorite other girl despite the Sumika focus. Compare Meiya's death to Sumika's, it's night and day. Yes. There's a clear bias against people who actually prefer Sumika. My guess is it's partly because Sumika already had the fandisc(not AF, the one before it), so it would be "excessive" to favor her in the continuation of the main story. Another might simply be because kouki liked Meiya more. The coup arc, the final arc where she finally gets to use the mecha she's been hyped up to use since Unlimited, there's a lot of focus on Meiya in Alternative to the detriment of Sumika, who ends up a glorified battery for the Susanoo instead of getting to have her own cool robot.>What the hell do you think you're doing? There's a few anons around here who aren't interested in discussing so much as they're interested in flaming.>>22135414>the gang back togetherHere's the problem: S00mika is as disconnected from them as Takeru was at the beginning of Unlimited. She's ironically the hot new transfer student that Meiya was in Extra, only without any of the charisma.
>>22135354You are just spewing so much bullshit it sound like bait, you are a troll, I'm pretty sure your are not even a sumikafag. If such an important and essential part of the story, the main heroine, wasn't good at all like you and the other anon are delusionally saying, Alternative would not still be one of the most well rated and popular visual novel. Of course it may not be perfect at handling the characters and some others aspects but it's great at the many primary things it does, one of those being the main heroine.>to what? From her traumatized psyche, she progress to be able to speak to Takeru in a natural way and have a normal talk. Is your brain even working? I'm not gonna waste more of my time to respond to troll like you.
>>22134996for me it was the opposite. I started out going for sumika because I was mad about all the other childhood friends that lost in anime adaptations but by the time I got to the cave scene I realized I had made a mistake. it was too late for me to change routes at that point but I immediately started a replay and only picked meiya from that point on.
>>22135544Sorry anon, I've heard worse vitriol than that!>If such an important and essential part of the story, the main heroine, wasn't good at all like you and the other anon are delusionally sayingNobody said that Sumika isn't a good heroine. She was horribly utilized post-PTSD arc and turned into nothing but a plot device who barely gets screentime, but that's not the same thing.>Alternative would not still be one of the most well rated and popular visual novelLook at what most people say about Alternative. It's plotfags who rate it highly and constantly post screenshots of characters like the sailors saluting. If they happen to mention any girl, it's Meiya, not Sumika. The latter is only begrudgingly acknowledged.>it's great at the many primary things it doesFirst of all, how many things can be primary before they stop being primary?>she progress to be able to speak to Takeru in a natural way and have a normal talkAnd what happens? She blabs about getting tentacle raped for cuckshit that did not need to be there, gets fucked by Takeru, and that's about it as far as her screentime goes before she dies quietly. Meiya gets to be blown to smithereens in a grand sendoff to her arc in Unlimited and Alternative and gets away with only getting groped by tentacles, which is still bad but nowhere near as awful comparatively.>Is your brain even working? Why are you so vitriolic? You are an example of the kind of person I called out before, getting angry for no good reason.
>>22118163Nobody is talking about the story in detail anywhere so it's very likely mediocre.
>>22118163It's about doing what you want and doing what you need.
>>22135589You're wasting your time with this guy
>>22135598Eh, I thought I'd say something to him before he flees for good.
Why is Meiya in Alternative a nationalistic mary sue? Her only suppose and actual flaw is her extreme selfless but is not portrait as much as a flaw at it should be giving that she doesn't change in the end. In her final scene she get to sacrifices herself like she was always ready to, for humanity. Feels kinda dull, she is more a plot device than a well-written character.

I was just thinking about something that we never see talked aboutWith the fact that fighter jets don't exist anymore, and that TSFs are all under the US Army, that means that the US Air Force is mainly bombersWouldn't that mean that Air Combat Combat never becomes a thing, and Strategic Air Command never goes away? Then they just switch from nukes to G-bombsTo me that is super cool, as I love the SAC and cold war aestheticI do wonder though if SAC would all be for Alternative 5, as they would get to bomb the fuck out of everything, or if certain generals are split on it, like how different airplane manufacturers are
Wouldn't Sumika be immune to the Christmas retcon, being that she was already in the Yokohama hive while the water supply was getting spiked?
>>22137071I don't understand why he didn't just smudge history a bit and say Christmas didn't get popular
>>22136905Would they be the ones bombing everything? Do we know how g bombs are delivered?
>>22137071>They must have spiked the water for a long ass fucking time to get everyone>The trilogy literally has a grandma refusing to leave her mountain in it. Did they spike natural water sources too? Does she know what Christmas is?>What about any gaijins that were in Japan when the water got spiked, do they now have brain damage and don't understand Christmas and convenience stores as well? What if they went back to America afterwards? Is the USA not mad Japan drugged military personnel?>Does it only work on Japanese people? Takeru still knows what Christmas is so the water no longer has to be spiked. Was Yokohama base never affected and all the girls got drugged before getting there? Yuuko clearly has a general idea what Christmas is. Where did she even get the stupid outfit?>If you owned a convenience store, what do you do with it after you get drugged? Does your CV now have a 10 year gap in it? Do government agents show up over night and steal all your wares so people no longer wish to purchase the goods you are offering? How do they time it?>Does the rest of the world never bully Japanese people for having government induced brain damage? Only Japan was spiked. Are the insults blocked out too?>What about all the Japanese people outside of Japan? TE doesn't take place in Japan. Nobody ever sends a letter home only to find their loved one now has brain damage? Yui doesn't find it weird that "Christmas never caught on" in Japan? Nobody tells her the truth? It happened like 5 years ago.>What about all the recordings about Christmas and convenience stores, even things as simple as books? Do government agents get rid of those too? How do they get access to private collections? Can your brain no longer consume them?
>>22137208In trying to 'fix' a plot hole that was bigger in his head than reality (seriously, why is convenience stores a big issue? How did Japanese people buy their groceries before the BETA invasion if they weren't supposed to exist? There were convenience stores in Japan before WWII for fuck's sake) Kouki made the most ridiculous plot hole that Muv Luv has ever had. Does he watch Alex Jones unironically?
>>22137369
>>22131058Fucking sexy beast machine
>>22137071>>22137208Was it really about christmas? With Japan not losing as hard in WWII I would assume that it not getting popular would be easily explained because no occupation and resulting far less US influence. I wonder if he really did just asspull for no reason other than it being something he was recently asked.
>>22137418It wasn't "Christmas", it was the fact that alternative clearly shows that Japan is a dystopian military society of nationalistic poorfags who don't even know what fucking Christmas is, but then Years later he writes Teito Moyu which is set in 1997 or some shit and Japan is doing so well Yui and her friends can literally walk into a convenience store to buy entire bags of limited edition Jojo reference flavor ice-cream. So a random guy asks him how its possible that in just a few years Japan underwent a cultural change that hardcore (said guy doesn't even brings owarinaki where they play baseball, have underage maid restaurants, and big music concerts)And instead of going "It just happened, shut up" Kouki goes on a talk about how Chizuru's dad fucking drugged the national water supply after the BETA invaded the mainland to suppress any memories that would result in the civilian population bitching about things being shit
>>22137464And it's still addressing a plothole that doesn't exist. Of course by the time of Alternative Japan is a dystopian military society of nationalistic poorfags. They got absolutely skullfucked by the BETA Invasion. Half of Japan was reduced to rubble, at least thirty million died. No country survives that kind of event without being driven to the bare essentials. It's a pointless change that adds nothing and takes a ton away.

I've been wanting to get into VNs as a genre for a long time, going through recommendation charts from /vn/ or going through vndb, things like that. I started Extra literally March this year and it took me this long to finish the trilogy, but I'm glad I did. The best VN I've played so far, but I haven't played a lot. I especially liked the ending of Unlimited, humanities' last hope is to flee to the stars, looking up at humanities' lost homeworld, is pretty cool. Alternative is cool as well, made me rethink the notion that humanity would actually unify to fight some common enemy, and I really liked how Takeru's brief insanity and development into a soldier afterward was presented.I'll go back to lurking now.alternative V really isn't that bad, considering IV didn't work without parallel world autism

How can one become so cringe? I gave this retard another chance since there's no active fics and I want more muvluv so bad but it's so fucking bad. Hating on TDA, dunking on Meiya, ruining Takeru. They're fucking soldiers, one is a time looping veteran, they're not gonna bitch about a few bodies or act like actual retards. This has to be the most high effort troll I've ever seen, the schizo literally hates everything that makes ML great. Why can't we have a Luxin?
>>22148199...he's been trying to write his magnum opus three or four times now. That takes a level of autism that even this general can't quite approach. Note that the previous one hit nearly a million words where almost nothing happened. Story didn't even reach Sadogashima. Maybe try the AO3 stories, surely there's something better there.
>>22148199It takes a certain nuance to write for Muv-Luv, sadly not many anons will have it. Making a direct sequel for Takeru is quite pointless, his journey is over. There's so much more to explore that it's a crying shame few fics focus on the universe. Reversal's author was at his best imo when he ditched the rehashed Alternative plot and began to play with the background lore of the IRG. I didn't knew he had restarted again, and on the chapter your image is in the guy pretty much admits he's not alright in the head. Just let the guy play in the sandbox, writing a compelling ML story is hard. We should be thankful to have had Luxin, I'd pay for a quality TL of his fanworks.
>>22148297All his fanworks are scanned and I have copies of the lot. All you'd need is a translator.

>>22150151Before the gacha launched a japanese fan leaked part of an Avex online meeting by literally buying stocks of the company and asking them what their plan for muv luv is.The answer he got was is "if there are more PC games will depend on the success of Dimension(the gacha)"And because Kouki is a fucking retard he didn't let this just be a random rumor some guy tweeted, he actually confirmed it was legit and made a tweet himself. So in short, even months ago Avex didn't feel like investing any more money into the IP and they're just sitting around right now watching Dimension sales. I don't think there will be any translations either because their new dogshit engine means a translation means doing a full port.If you trust the yen values from https://game-i.daa.jp/ (you really shouldn't they are highly inaccurate and just generated from the sales rankings) Dimensions went from making about 1.5 million usd(98 average rank) in its first month, to 1.1(189 average rank) the next, and this month with only 4 days left it is sitting at at 325k (362 average rank). The sales have absolutely collapsed. You can only hope Avex was satisfied enough with the first 2 months, because if the sales keep going down this hard things are looking real bad
>>22150498So muv Luv gacha made 1.5 million in the first month, and somehow Avex still doesn't hire the old VAs. Also, most of the new VA are basically nobody.
>>22148247>nearly a million words>almost nothing happenedhow the fuck is this possible?>>22150545at this point Avex is probably more concerned with cashing back as much of what they invested. that's the problem with the buyout or companies going public, shareholders care only about numbers and it's clear they bought the IP to milk it for Fate-like returns. That doesn't happen? No more muvluv
>>221505451.5 sounds like a lot until you consider that Dimensions was in development for like 4 fucking years, which also included an entire failed launch which they spend months advertising, including on television. Who knows how much money they really gained at the end of the day
>>22150545the va change is not about money, it's about shilling new vas. it's the same thing with the tsukihime demake.
>>22150758it's not though, tsukihime remake has aniplex all over it shilling people including the op and ed singers. The dimension change is literally about money, they had several old VAs for immortals and then threw all those recordings out the window.

What are /mlg/'s thoughts on the manga? Just finished it and I kinda think it's an improvement on the VN in a few ways. It weaves together more of the details of the KimiNozo girls in a way that doesn't feel forced and makes them feel less like an afterthought/distraction than they do in the VN. I also think a lot of the big dramatic moments (Chomp[/spoiler] and its follow-up plotline, the conclusion of Operation 21st, Sumika's twizzler reminiscence) are enhanced by the way they're paced and illustrated. Art's breddy gud too, especially when you consider how bad the anime was.
>>22152773>spoilers>me
>>22152773I appreciate that it was the last official thing to have nipples in it. I wish it had a less shitty translation.
>>22152606Why would you buy a series of VNs if you don't intend to make VNs?
>>22152779Is it that bad? I can't into moonrunes so I can't tell, but the version I'm reading seems pretty solid.
>>22144365not that I watched the anime but I skipped around parts of ptsd and sadogashima and her ahoge never emotes and I think that should be grounds for public execution for everyone involved
>>22136905if mirroring what happened in the real world SAC/USAF would be all for it since LeMay basically made SAC into what it was for most of the Cold War and he was constantly begging to nuke everyone
>>22152786I'm not sure if it got a better translator later on but at first it was everyone's least favorite h manga translator doing it
>>22116753I got into it because someone posted Asu e no Houkou during /a/'s 25 days of autism and everyone was praising it in the chat so I decided to read it. I'm still a fan because it is easily one the three best fictional stories I've ever read. To this day I'm not sure why I like it so much, I've just accepted that I do.
>>22152781Because FGO happened and ruined the VN industry by extension.
>>22153024How?
>>22130932I'm not really passionate on this matter, many people are factually incorrect when it comes to how foreign countries that hate the American system view the people of America. Even military leaders in countries as adversarial as Iran speak of Americans as an occupied people living under a tyrannical and poisonous government and financial system. Many are unironically falling for American propaganda when they think the countries who criticize America all have some sort of ISIS worldview regarding the citizens.
>>22153030FGO generating so much money even though the origin of the franchise was an adult VN gave two kinds of people the idea that the success can be replicated:>1. VN devs who are sick of being poor and want big cash>2. Big investor companies who have no fucking idea about either industry and are just trying to follow an alchemy recipe that says Eroge + gacha = endless moneySome the first group runs their whole circle/company into the ground using what little money they have to make a gacha that quickly burns to the ground, sometimes both groups meet up and shit is sold. Going by KEY there's actually a secret third group, where you succeed and then sell out to tencent anyway.very few VN devs are content with just making VNs anymore. Anyone in it for the money will try making a gacha. Frontwing made like 3 fucking grisaia gachas or some shit
>>22153068I don't understand how that kills VNs. VNs don't turn the profit they used too, I get that, but they do still make some, right? Meanwhile FGO was lightning in a bottle, that's blatantly obvious to anyone with even the slightest bit of knowledge of this, and that's been proven again and again and again.

>>22153009>I'm not sure if it got a better translator later on but at first it was everyone's least favorite h manga translator doing itiirc they announced an official translation not long after he finished the last chapter
>>22152773I liked how it added side stories and other details. It also tries to cram in as much information as possible from the VN but as a result I think that it ends up being a little too wordy for a manga.
>>22151467it's time to move on bro muvluv had its chances

>>22156515That's just one of the many concepts Kouki stole from mainstream scifi authors, shit is so common it has a whole tvtropes page
>>22156230would like to but where do we go? I don't know anything like it that could replacekinda amazing that these retards managed to fuck it up this bad despite the lack of direct competition
>>22156622if you like the dystopian world and mechas, there's armored core. Actually, most FromSoft stuff has that same dread against imposible odds the BETA originally have for the story. AC has nice lore of humans and tech struggling to simply survive that, to me, is what Integrate could have been about in a post-beta world.
>>22150997Remember that avex did not have anyone overseeing immortals. They handed a fat stack of cash over to a random shitposter. They're clearly not the most competent when it comes to making money off of this series. For fuck's sake, lantis had their fingers all over the adaptation with two of their big names doing the ending and two of the openings, and avex is supposed to be a huge multimedia corporation themselves! You're telling me that they have NOBODY they could contribute besides a rando up-and-comer?
>>22150498Remember that those "earnings" include nextninja whaling their own product to inflate the rankings to try and catch interest. What you're starting to see now is what it's truly worth, i.e. nothing
>>22157535I am actually very confused about Immortals because there's stream recordings of various people involved saying there were regular progress update meetings with the avex gaming department or whatever the fuck, at the very least they must have had them when the game got delayed multiple times. Guess they must have been fine with PowerPoints and empty statements or something.
Is that loli Yuuko's daughter OC from one of the failed gachas the closest we get to see to a non-ancient hag Yuuko?
Why aren't there any story set in the Moon War yet?
>>22153107Fgo had the dubious distinction that few eroge to gacha games have had since: the original company, type-moon, was almost totally insulated from the consequences of it flopping because they still own Fate. Sony was left holding the bag to make it work.
>>22150545That's not even enough to cover the cost of making the anime.
So Operation Ouka never? This is like a rehash of Total Eclipse. Nobody seems to want to adapt it for whatever reason.
>>22159660Watch Schwarzesmarken. There you have a complete adaptation of a Muvluv related work, from the beginning all the way to the ending.
>>22159660>Nobody seems to want to adapt it for whatever reason.Have you seen the sales numbers? They literally had Takeru's new VA beg people to buy the BDs on an official livestream that aired before the final episode
>>22148199>Why can't we have a LuxinThe last, best time to have that was back during the TE anime days, when there was not only Muvluv but a bunch of mecha anime coming out the following year. Nobody took up the mantle seriously, or if they did, they only pulled an Isayama and took inspiration from Muvluv for their own stories. Why?Well, why not? Age wasn't interested, and frankly neither was the west. The military element is very alienating regardless of whether that's your thing. See: the endless posts over the years criticizing not only how the beta were handled, but the geopolitics and geography. What was so bad was how well it could have worked with only a little more research. Have the beta land near St Lawrence River so America nukes the shit out of Quebec right around the height of Quebecois nationalism. Just like that, you have a huge chunk of Canada becoming uninhabitable and America being a pariah. Not nuking a land in the middle of nowhere.
Today I will remind them that the Youjo Senki author literally had an entire fucking "fanfiction" about fighting BETA
>>22159734Wait, that's a thing?
