I've even read that there's an original Lorelai arc and an extended Lorelai arc that appears in different collections of the manga. Japan originally used a Romanization form called Nihon-shiki. In that form, which you can still see in some older places, "ji" was Romanized as di or zi. Some people still use it, and it is occasionally used in stylized designs.

Speaking of different looking Mazingers, even the original SJ run had the design changed multiple times, especially as it appears on cover art. This one already differs from the first appearance in the manga that had rounded chest plates. The color choices are often pretty interesting.
