Good news everyone!>the Poles started shipping their limited production run of FM1st Remake physical copies they tricked you into pre-ordering before the announcement of a regular publisher publishing a regular run regularly Bad news everyone!>FM2 remake is getting delayed
They are so retarded, baffles me anyone would let them remake FM.
>>21749284Front Mission is now a eurojank franchise. Prepare for FM6 to run like shit and somehow have the most thought provoking story about war ever.
So Poland can't into space but it can into giant robots?
>>21749309wódka is a gateway to abilities many would consider... unnatural.
>>21749284FM died with 5 when the team disbanded. Real niggas know this to be true.
FM anime series when
>>21749273>FM2 remake is getting delayedI'd rather they fix their shit. FM1R is rather jank so if that means they're polishing their work then I really can't complain.
>>217493171000% truth. This is cannot be refuted. Front Mission games ended at 5However, the new tiny model kits are incredible. Perfect hand sized Mecha
>>21749273>>FM2 remake is getting delayedNot surprised.
>>21749342>From the creator of Gundam Thunderbolt:
I fucking love mech designs and setting, but how do I not die from boredom while actually playing these?I tried both SNES with fanpatch and Switch remake, and they're putting me to sleep. It's not just Front Mission, I can't into TRPG at all.
>>21749949>I tried both SNES with fanpatch and Switch remake, and they're putting me to sleep.try 3 it's a lot bette->It's not just Front Mission, I can't into TRPG at all.give up?or play the platformer
>>21749957I played FM3 like 15 years ago on emulator, I remember save scumming like a bitch, but I also didn't understand mechanics and what's what. Should I wait for the inevitable remake? Will miss out on the story without playing 1 and 2?I also played Gun Hazard and Evolved. I liked them enough to finish, but not enough to replay on harder difficulties. I know FME has shit reputation, but I didn't hate it.I also can play and finish Super Robot Wars games, but they are super easy with spirits and mid-mission quicksaves, so that doesn't really translate to TRPGs where I can die and have to redo the entire mission from the beginning.
Any idea if a physical copy of FM2 is in the works? Skipped 1 for now since I bought it for DS long ago, and grabbed a loose copy of FM3 earlier in the year that someone was selling for a pittance.
>Outsource to poles>Can't even finish a game
>>21749284mainline FM games have actually always kind of been the janky redheaded stepchild of the SRPG/TBS genre mechanically, we just pretended they were good because customizable mecha, basically. The franchise ended up handled by 'tards is entirely because they're convinced that the fanbase will eat up any garbage from FM so long as it's an SRPG and will refuse anything else anyway so why even try.
>>21749961Sanest TRPG player right here
>>21749925But Yasuo Ohtagaki already did the Front Mission manga almost 20 years ago? Not sure what you are saying here unless you think his drawing skill has gotten worse post self destruct.
>>21749342Hideyuki Matsumoto should be the default mechanical designer for all Front Mission work forever.
>>21750372I'm saying it would be an adaptation of that instead of the games
Gotcha, and yeah, I agree. Front Mission should feel like a Tom Clancy/Project Itoh novel, not a blood, rape, and shit guro novel like every modern fantasy. Military suspense with complex geopolitics and mecha fights is good.
>>21750955Exactly what I've felt about Front Mission as of recent: Square Enix should have made a new continuity with different supernational unions that would have been more relevant for modern-day gamers (writing a supernational union where Japan, the Philippines, and Australia are buddied up against another supernational union consisting of the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and other Latin American nation-states is something present-day gamers can't suspend their disbelief for).
Chasing you back from page 10
Hi i am new here, why Front Mission is really hard compared to SRW games?
>>21749273I'm so fucking sick of remakes, it's always worse than the original too. Just give us a proper translation of FM2
>>21756209Remakes bring things closer to present-day works in a long-running franchise. The DS version of FM1st didn't have Wanzers use their wheels whereas the Switch version does.
>>21749273>Bad news everyone!>>FM2 remake is getting delayedthe more time they have to make it less miserable mess at launch - the bettersounds more of a good news for me
>>21756216Except the remake looks worse than both the original, a fucking Super Famicom game, and the final, a Playstation 2 game from 18 years ago. And let's not talk about the lazy gameplay. Which neither improves on the original or builds from the base that Front Mission 5 left for 3D works.Bring things closer to present day mobage is a more correct way to phrase it. These devs are incompetent, and SE doubly so for farming it out. Remakes remain 99.9% shit. And the onus of "support your beloved franchise in an English release" is literal shit . I wont support these low effort turds.
>>21756312>And the onus of "support your beloved franchise in an English release" is literal shit . I wont support these low effort turds.other anon - it's less about support, more about "oh, I can play FM2 without reading guide side by side, neat".Remakes hardly better than original, that's old tale. But since no one could implement FM2 translation into the game, it's either remake or learning japanese.
>>21756542More importantly, the load times.FM2 is objectively miserable to play thanks to the constant need to load into battle sequences due to the higher production value of the game and not once considering just zooming into the map models like what would happen for 3.Sure you can ram through it in emulator, but that's a brute force solution to something intrinsically fucked about the original release. On that front, FM2Re is expected to be an objective, irrefutable improvement.
>>21749273>Bad news everyone!>>FM2 remake is getting delayedAs others have said, I see that as a good thing.I might also buy that shit for a dollar or two, even after finishing FM2 with the partial English patch.Cheap remake? Cheap customer. Seems fair enough to me.

>>21751282And how do you see the geopolitical alignment in your proposed restart?
>>21759856Nta, but>that moment you realize it's Super ASEAN vs Ultra NAFTA, as stoked by the CIS
>>21759856Not him but honestly given modern politics, there's been a lot of tension with the EU and Japan/S.Korea have been cozying up to Daddy USA again, while China's been pushing into parasitizing a lot of African states. Russia's been making friends in S.America as well. This is all vastly simplified but things like this are always vastly simplified and based off of abstractions of real politics anyway. So I guess a N.American bloc fattened up by the Philippines, the British Empire, S.Korea, and Japan, a Chinese/African Slave State bloc, and a Russian/S.American one, and the EU can beg India and the Middle East for help, ensuring that all powerblocs have similar structural problems they'll all be targeting in the form of having oceanic bodies between them rather than the contiguous blocs of the current timeline.Which of course is a good excuse for Amphibious Wanzers and Wanzer Operation Overlord.
The first switch remake of FM1 is finally coming on PC (officially) https://store.steampowered.com/app/2399730/FRONT_MISSION_1st_Remake/
>>21749273Don't you think it's strange that in the 2090s-120s, Wanzers still don't have mass-produced railguns and laser guns?
>>21756216>The DS version of FM1st didn't have Wanzers use their wheelsThat's wrong.
>>21763873When you have a Wanzer move on flat ground before making it do anything, it hops from one square to another as it was in the SFC/SNES. The Switch version has the Wanzer use its wheels to move from one square to another, which came from Front Mission 5.
>>21763896they use their roller wheels in their melee attack animations
>>21763896They've been skating since day 1 and continued to in FM2.>but map skating!Introduced in FM3.
>>21763901Nice to know. Though I must wonder why FM3 and FM4 did away with that?
>>21763944Battle animations were static in 3 and they'd still use wheels in some cutscenes in 4.
>>21763896Fun fact, in classic mode it reverts to the walking movement in map.
>>21759778TEAM FROST
>>21750069>and will refuse anything else anyway so why even tryI enjoyed Gun Hazard greatly and Evolved moderately. The latter would've been vastly improved if the devs didn't force player to use specific leg type every few missions and completely cut the character action parts. Less of an rpg part progression with more sidegrades accomodating different approaches (like in Armoured Core) would've also been better. Still, the gameplay wasn't bad although the mobility backpack movement should have been the default instead of being tied to that specific part. Free mission kind of thing would've also been nice, why am I dropped into the full campaign if I just want to replay some specific segment of the game?
>>21763769surprising no onehonestly would be nice if they just bundled emulated OG together but oh well
>>21751282>writing a supernational union where Japan, the Philippines, and Australia are buddied up against another supernational union consisting of the United States of America, Canada, Mexico, and other Latin American nation-states is something present-day gamers can't suspend their disbelief forI don't know anything about world politic. Mostly because I try to ignore everything that has anything to do with politics in general. Why would the suspension of disbelief here be any different from any other strangereal setting?
>>21764099that's a most healthy stance you have and I wish world followed your example>Why would the suspension of disbelief here be any different from any other strangereal setting?I'm other anon and I think there never was any difference. Until internet happened with social media. People will scream bloody murder if something will be off (so - they will always do that), hence real settings of that type mostly disappeared. No one wants to deal with internet mob of idiots.
>>21763801Well, lasers will always be garbage in atmosphere and at being magical SF cutting beams, that's just reality. And the U.S. Navy came to the hard realization that a massively expensive railgun that shoots itself to death from the first shot is not a viable weapon system. Sure, metamaterials will probably save railguns sometime in the future, but there is no getting around how shit lasers are as weapons.
>>21763801Not really, I mean have you seen how jank Wanzers can be? An armored car with arms and legs slapped on, that's pretty much what they are.
>>21749949Play Left Alive, then EvolvedThis will make you value the rest of the entries
>>21764327Check >>21749961I did play FME and liked it.I'm not gonna play LA because it's not even mecha game. I
>>21756216>Remakes bring things closer to present-day worksWhen the present-day works are >>21764327>Left Alive>Evolvedthen no one needs this approach
>>21759856>>21760035>>21764099>>21764108What part of "should have" did you not understand? The idea of a new continuity with different supernational unions would have worked a decade ago but not now. It's best suited that a new continuity made in this day and age avoid supernational unions like Gun Hazard did.
>>21764424Well, today we are watching live the revival of the Cold War tendencies and the new division of the world. If it has become possible again, then why do supranational blocs seem so unrealistic to you?
>>21764424>avoid supernational unionsHey look someone who hasn't been paying attention for the past two years.
Kindest JP opinion I have found on the remakes so far:コインランドリーThough it is nice to see that even the ever subservient "I'll support it" JP attitude has is limits. No one like shit mechanical design.
>>21764683>>21764716It's one thing to have a supernational union but it's another if it's two nations separated by large bodies of water. While realistic, I can't suspend my disbelief over the idea by >>21760035. Take the suggestions of Russia + South America and China + Africa: how would Russia be able to send troops to South America without alerting US forces? Same with China sending troops to Africa? In short, what kind of supernational unions can make gamers suspend disbelief?
>>21764848>playing FM for the mechanical designThere's only one good design and I'll let you guess what it is
>>21764936>how would Russia be able to send troops to South America without alerting US forces?Russia and China already are building military bases in South America. Alerting the US isn't a problem at all, all they can do is seethe.
>>21765163Shit, wasn't that just literally what the Cuban Missile Crisis amounted to anyway?
>>21764936Well I mean we live in the post-Cold War era where it's largely assymmetric warfare and small scope "Bleed myself to cause chaos" warfare where actual full scale warfare for a direct geopolitical goal rather than just fucking around for politics outright baffles and confuses most of the public so people not being able to fully mobilize undetected makes sense and would easily tie into a plot where everyone is caught off guard when somebody actually does instead of just posturing and sending some dudes as a advisors/disposable bodies maybe.
i'm checking Forever Entertainment's other games and goddamn it's like a Kusoge Factory
>>21765330Yet another person who still thinks it's 2005.
>>21765350Is it still slavjank when the Poles do it?Honestly though at the end of the day FM1st is still dumb silly fun.
>>21765357>anon makes blatant references to how Russia actually launching a real invasion with an actual goal rather than fucking around without any followthrough like everyone has been since like the 90s caught everyone so off guard that it took them like 5+ years to realize Russia was actually at War with Ukraine because they didn't understand what the fuck they were seeing.>Lol 2005Retard.
>>21765133You have achieved maximum shit taste, ironic greentextman. Congratulations.
