Does it get better? Also who tf eats an unripe tomato on its own
>>21748260they look ripe
>>21748260I used to think tomatoes on their own were disgustingI tried one from my grandpa's garden and I tell you, I could eat them like they were apples, that shit has so much flavour is insane. I love gazpacho too. Also those are red, I tasted some with still green spots, delicious anyway
No, Brain Powered is one of Tomino's weakest full series. There's like two good moments, when the rival reveals he's been fucking the MCs mom and then there's like a single well animated fight scene. The rest is just Tomino failing to cope with the times changing and a bunch of bitchy characters that make Kamille seem level headed in comparison.
>>21748274i've never tried a raw tomato that wasn't store bought so i'll just take your word for it>>21748279okay, thanks for saving my timei'll watch some gunsmith cats instead
>>21748260>>21748279Filtered.
>>21748260It ends up as one of Tomino’s best shows alongside DunbineAnd Japanese tomatoes are different
It's forgotten for a reason.
That doesn't look unripe. You've never seen someone just eat a tomato?
Top 5 Tomino series. Maybe top 3.
>>21748260Slice up the tomato and add a bit of vinaigrette and maybe some parmesan.
>>21748274yeah real tomatoes are a totally different thingI'm still not very keen on them, but tomato-appreciators aren't just being elitist pricks about itas for Brain Powerd?ehh, sorta?over the course of the show they do generally explain what the fuck is going on (and finding it all out as it goes is sorta the point like a lot of Tomino), there's a few spots here and there where they really animate them and it's not just ZWEE fightingthere's some good "lolUSA" to keep things fun too, but yeah it's very Tomino
>>21748317>And Japanese tomatoes are differentThey're not inherently different any more than various non-Japanese varieties are different from each other. What they are as shown in the show is actually fucking ripe and not watery, mealy, flavourless garbage. The show itself isn't something I'd say 'gets better' (though it does present more interesting things). It's pretty similar quality wise throughout, other than animation. What can get better is your ability to parse Tomino's rapid fire and high density style and the expectation that you're supposed to infer certain things or read implications and not just have everything told to you outright. If you can get that to click, it's a pretty cool show. If you can't, you're just going to be confused, like a gibbon replacing a high voltage line.
>>21748274Store bought tomatoes are bred for color, they're picked while they're firm and unripe, and sometimes they get refrigerated. all of that makes them easier to sell but also makes them taste like nothing
>>21748274Tomatoes and any nightshade plant are bad for youliterally low grade poison
>>21748260IN MY DREAM
>>21749187I want to strangle every ‘tomatoes are nightshade’ retard. Actually kill yourself. You know nothing about botanics.
>>21749205Woah, woah, woah, let's not sell him short. He doesn't know anything about toxicology or biology in general, either.
>>21748317okay weebi live in japan and tomatoes aren't different at all
>>21748263>>21748321If a giant fell out of the sky and knocks the vine over, but somehow the tomatoes haven't fallen off the vine, it's probably unripe.
>>21749205Is there some new meme about people discovering for the first time how many major crops are part of the nightshade family? If so, I can't wait to see what happens to them when they find out about tobacco...
>>21748260It stays excellent through the whole run save an off scene here and there. Really excellent cast and very therapeutic.
It's my favorite non-Gundam Tomino show. It's great. The setting is cool, the drama is intense and oftentimes petty in a very real way. I wonder why so many Sunrise shows feature tomatoes so heavily. Did someone at the studio have a tomato plant or something in the office?
>>21749187Do you cry about being gassed with chlorine whenever you consume table salt? Silly man.
Very strange show, and I usually like my tominoisms and the pacing of his shows. The show just kind of plods along without much frame of reference for what the characters are actually doing to accomplish their goals until the very end. Almost every character seems hostile with one another (besides that one girl who just seems to exist to die and hand the MC a power-up) which is odd because most Tomino shows do a good job of showing characters when they down time and letting their guards down. The mech designs are great but that just kind of highlights how frustrating most of the animation in the series is to me. It seems like a lot of the features of the mecha were chosen just to make animation most cost effective. There are a lot of characters and very few of them feel fully realized. The closest thing to a big climactic battle is fighting the rival guy's... mom? Who seems way too emotionally distraught to have that kind of role in the story. I guess that's kind of what Tomino was going for though, showing that women cannot thrive properly outside of their intended roles.
If you’re not down with it now you won’t be down with it later. It’s probably the most aggressively Tomino anime Tomino ever made. It’s not really a show worth watching for the mecha (mainly because the fights suck ass and are basically still images crashing into each other) or the politics. The drama is where it’s at. If you think Zeta is like a soap opera then Brain Powerd is full on Bold and the Beautiful. There’s a load of interesting characters but 90% of them get pushed into the background to focus on Yuu, Jonathan and Quincy which isn’t a bad thing because they’re the best part of the show (plus Kanan). It’s pretty funny at times too. Jonathan is an absolute menace and all the show’s best scenes are dominated by him. Final arc is absolute chaos but the episode where Quincy gets absorbed by her Anti-Body and goes on a bizarre psychedelic journey where she imagines being married to her brother is one of Tomino’s best directing jobs.
>>21750841Can't wait to watch it. Since I love zeta's cast.
A tomato isn't a hand fruit!
It's shitPeople used to praise it as a joke then retards took it seriously
>>21748674Can you express yourself in a less insufferable manner?
>>21749187Most of the issues with tomatoes came from when people use to eat them off of pewter and their acidity would cause lead to leach out.
>>21749318You don’t live in Japan.
>>21751188Yeah, sure fag. Next you'll be telling me that scorpion peppers aren't meant to go under my foreskin.
>>21750841>mainly because the fights suck ass and are basically still images crashing into each otherRewatching this, I was surprised at how often this just wasn't true after hearing it so much on /m/ over the years, definitely too much of it, but lots of good stuff as well, and Tomino's action boarding is still as top tier as ever with all the creative cut ins and sense of realistic space and depth being generated through staging and the trajectories of motion, even if its not being realized as well as in his other shows. Character animation is also often excellent, especially in terms of draftsmanship.
>>21751463I think the fights are better than people expect. The whole "They don't move, they just teleport!" thing is true to an extent, but the direction of the action is good and you get a clear-cut sense of what's going on. And especially towards the half way mark and beyond, the fights and action get a bit more dynamic. There's obviously some weird budgetary shit going on, but you can tell the staff tired their best to work around it. I'll say, I think the show could've benefited from a few more episodes. Not even much more. Like five. I think like 1999-2005 Sunrise shows had a weird tendency of being either too long (Argento Soma) or too short like BP's case.
>>21748260>Does it get better?Yes.
>>21751509That and often when they teleport they do so via smears on the mecha, and they do it in a logical way where the drawing deconstructs as it leaves one space and reconstructs as it enters the other, so it's not just like static cels being moved to dislocated connections all the time ( I'm sure that happens some of the time).https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/215413https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/228435Effect shapes are often very unique, like little pillars of light moving together as a loose column with a band of translucent energy kind of dancing around it, or the really colorful highlights in the explosions with weird contours, Shigeta does a decent amount of animation and his idiosyncratic effects style works well with how alien the mecha are.I think the Mecha designs would be hard to animate as well personally, every mecha animator has sketched out a Gundam or Zaku at some point. but learning to draw those weird Nagano alien babies, let alone move them, is more challenging than normal.Yeah, I think either trim the side cast of add on a few episodes - some characters ended up not being that well realized, same thing happened in G-Reco. 3 cours could have worked fine even.
>>21751448here’s your special japanese tomatoes, dweeb
>>21751640>hates tomatoesI bet you never ate your green peppers and onions either, you psychotic faggot!
>>21751676no, i don't eat green peppers and onions raw and on their ownwhat are you, a psycho?
are you a brain powerd man or an l-gaim man
is dunbine happy tomino or sad tomino? I've been meaning to get around to it it but I just finished off rewatching xabungle and I want something I bit more melancholic
>>21755480sad tomino, it's similar to zeta
>>21755480It's definitely more melancholic than Xabungle, but it isn't devoid of humour.
>>21755467Brain Powerd because it has better music.
>>21751760I also live in japan and 肉詰めピーマン are the best with raw, in-season green peppers. Get out casual. You're right about the tomatoes though, in fact they're more watery and dull than the ones I used to get in Europe.
>>21755908>肉詰めピーマンso not on their own, then
>>21751760sliced green peppers is a very common snack where I live, just like baby carrots.
