Wonder what the modding scene will be like for AC6. Souls mods can get pretty wild. Also, assuming this uses the same engine as ER, we could probably have shit like fighting the ER bosses on an AC
>>
>>21738431
FPS mod, old parts, anime robots, waifushit, difficulty mods
>>
hope they mod in a seamless multiplayer story mode, utilizing souls sign summons/invasions mechanics.

also more maps for multiplayer.
>>
>>21738479
Unless some absolute lunatic like InfernoPlus is going to tear the game apart like he did for DS, don't get your hopes up.
>>
>>21738479
>>21738510
Those games had infrastructure inside of them for that shit. I know jackshit about coding or modding, but I imagine modders had SOMETHING to work with.
If AC6 is like Gen3.5, where multiplayer is basically a separate game mode, adding it into SP story mode might sound too unrealistic.
>>
>>21738431
Going by the levels of autism fromsoft fans, mecha fans and /m/ has... If there's even a chance of something to be modded then theres a chance it will be done. I went out of my way to learn 2 different game engines and an editor plus all the tools required outside of that to rig, port, fix and customise models and animations from one game to another just because I wanted some mecha shit in something.

If the game is actually good then the modding scene will grow fast. If people make tools to expedite these processes and make it more accessible for others then you will see the modding scene explode in growth, a lot of people can edit values, some people can make textures and a few people can model+rig but if the path to importing any of this is a pain in the ass then most people just give up. Don't hold your breath for anything network related but everything else should be fair game (I expect custom/ported camera/models/textures/sound effects, edited particle effects and some physics work to appear at minimum).
>>
>>21738479
>>21738510
Games like Sekiro and Skyrim have online multiplayer mods, I'm sure it's possible for AC6 too, especially since it will already have some form of online play anyway (the PvP arena). A better question is whether the game's gonna be widely popular enough for talented modders to want to spend a lot of time and effort on it or attract those kinds of people in the first place.

I've been playing AC3, and man.
I think the guy piloting Grinder must be massively retarded given the tactic he employs, but that makes him hilarious to fight against. All he does is blind rush. And only blind rush. It's even funnier when you fight him on that special alloy escort mission, since he doesn't even bother to attack the truck, or have the basic mental capacity required to get off that fucking alley.
>>
>>21739237
Reminds me of that killdozer retard in 4A who you can actually fight in-story in hard mode, and he's a literal screaming retard who doesn't even amount to a speedbump
>>
>>21739338
He has a rocket launcher back unit and even then he just uses it when ramming you
Then again, if his autismo rams DO connect, you're fucking dead anyways, so there might be some method to his retardation
>>
I prefer AC1 to Master of Arena, but fighting a Gen 2 KLF while I'm sporting my same build from AC1 is the coolest shit.
>>
>>21739378
Yeah but he picked the wrong gen to try non-tracking melee.

Speaking of melee, AC swords deal damage per frame they're in contact withthe target, right? That HAS to be affected by FPS. I wonder if the reason blades seem so strong is because most anons play through emulators, leading to higher FPS and inflated sword damage numbers
>>
>>21739831
I dunno about 4th/5th gen but in the classic games nobody is getting more fps than they should, MAYBE some 60fps hacks exist but I've never seen or heard of them. At most, the game may be more stable at times it wouldn't have been, but we're talking about ps1 and ps2 emulation here so probably not
>>

the game checks the sword calculation once per frame, so having a higher fps is worse for the hit calculation but it's better to actually predict the other guy's position

Mucking around in my [ongoing] last raven save trying to see how fast an AC can get and the effect of tuning for weight and stuff.
Some basic numbers I gathered:
Default AC untuned:
138 walk, 257 boost
Default AC tuned for weight + boost speed:
139 walk, 306 boost
The fastest AC I have access to make, tuned for weight + boost speed with only the lightest handgun for a weapon:
205 walk, 502 boost.

I'm normally a tank guy so it's fun to see what the exact opposite of this looks like, and its actually surprisingly capable of sustained boosted movement, obviously not holding the button down for terribly long but you can feather it in the air and stay up a while and its totally efficient in hopping. This was all bipeds though, so the next step for speed experimentation is obviously hovers

Small followup + picture;
I was previously using Stinger's core because of its great weight but I tried with the lightest OB core available and got these results:
205 walk, 499 boost, 801 OB
the same walk speed, boost speed barely decreased by 3 km, and while the OB speed is crazy it does overheat if its not cancelled near immediately but the cooling process is pretty damn fast.
The picture is it as it currently stands painted some appropriate colours, I really like how this looks because the head is COMPLETELY buried in the collar, the AC appears headless which is a really cool visual and totally makes sense for the speed to be so streamlined.
>>
>>21740119
>>21740127
>502
Anon, I took the two MGs off the build I killed Final Pulveriser with and got 549, and that's pretty much all shop parts.
>>
>>21740155
I'm like halfway through my first playthrough so this was mostly just for fun. What parts were you using? if it was hover legs or quads [they're still fast right?] then that'd make sense
>>
>>21740167
Biped build actually. Hover takes me into 610+ range.
Drone for the head but you can use Queen and gain a bit of speed, C98E2 chest, Macaque arms, Lynx 2 Legs, TP Booster (Dunno if this is a secret part but it's the sauce for speed), generator is Magnolia but you can use whatever really, and Ananda radiator which is worth going out of the way to grab. I'll try and throw together a pure speed build later and see what numbers I can get.
>>
>>21740184
Ah the booster makes sense, I'm using a pretty basic boy booster because it was the absolute lightest and happened to be very efficient.
I tried the fastest hover legs and they're practically unwieldy, easily breaching past 700 for speed but overheating is almost guaranteed whatever i do for the radiator if i hold the boost down, it just keeps climbing lol
>>
>>21740206
TP/G91 or Magnolia/Ananada is my go to internals setup for basically most ACs I run in LR. They don't run perfectly cool but with b-hopping they run energy and heat efficient enough.

With a just frame swap I got to near 700 on a biped but cooling gradually climbs so it depends if you want topped out numbers or just consistent. I think you could probably get away with a sustainable 630+ but that's with no weapons. 550~ for a dedicated speedster probably is doable but I honestly never went past 500 since I'd rather more firepower after 450 since that's the Ultimate Zinaida speed check.
>>
>>21740226
>there's a speed check
Oh boy I'm gonna get fucked aren't I
t. standard core [best ap/def] tank
>>
>>21740127
>205 walk, 499 boost, 801 OB
Kinda slow for what's supposed to be a speed focused lightweight biped with no weapons, overheating that fast on OB is also not a good sign.
My favorite LR build is not even optimized for top speed (it's a CR-B83TP/FUDOH/ANANDA mix for optimal energy/cooling) and I can hit 540 top speed with just boost, and stay at 20 heat too with really good energy consumption too.
>>
>>21740247
Again this was mostly just about getting the lightest parts possible, booster included, and trimming them for weight. From the couple posts responding to this it's pretty clear that in the end just getting energy and heat efficient with a good booster is the best way to really get fast, though what I was doing is gonna get you probably the fastest biped walk speeds as hard as that stat is to seemingly influence
>>
My final mission in LR is survive a bombardment of suicide drones from Nexus and then fight a pulveriser with no AP refill
I get the game is meant to be hard but my nigga I am in a tank I cannot avoid these things consistently and when Jack opens a door on the other side of the room it is a full like 30+ second affair to get over there
Is there any tips or tricks for avoiding the drones like some spot they can barely hit or some faster way to end the segment, or an AP refill I missed hidden in that room with Jack or something?
>>
>>21740362

Swapping over to the hover style tank legs and feathering boost and running in a big circle like a looney tunes skit just barely works, ended up taking a tonne of hits on the way to the exit sadly but I can at least face the pulveriser with far far more energy defence [fully geared towards it currently, like 2500 en def] and like 4k AP, its uh, it's going. Ladies and gentlemen, we got him.
I spent the last stretch of the fight on sub 1k AP, pretty sure I finished around 100-200AP, didn't even realise I was holding my breath until I started breathing again when the cutscene started.
To the care of absolutely nobody but myself, I would like to confirm you can at least beat a full route of Last Raven as nothing but a retard tank. My mission choice was picking the highest paying mission every single time except for the one time Zinaida challenged me to a fight which was immediately interrupted anyway, I was intentionally trying to gun for what seemed to be the hardest missions by going for the biggest prize numbers. Also bested the whole arena like this, Daemon is easily the hardest arena opponent in the series and I basically only won through some trial and error luck with learning how to get him stuck on the environment.
I have to say LR is easily my favourite game of 3rd gen, 3/SL felt a bit boring to me, Nexus had some neat ideas but was just a mess, ninebreaker had some decent arena fun but I just couldn't be fucked to do the training shit, but LR really hits the spot and I'm looking forward to going for the other endings [as a tank]
>>
>>21740444
You would have had an easier time with a 'zooka than linear rifles, just sayin'.
If you're playing tanks you absolutely want to win the damage race and linear rifles aren't your best option, still, congrats, beating the games the way YOU want always feels nice.
>>
>>21740444

>>
>>21740475
I haven't really tried bazookas in this game yet, you may be right, I just fell in love with linear guns [I basically only used the shoulder mounted one all fight, its just better, the gun is there as a leftover from making this anti-EN tank for something else where faster fire rate was needed] at some point back in nexus and it only deepened in LR, satisfying visuals, sound, stagger value, and damn good enough damage to boot. brilliant lock on times for the damage too, that's probably what cinches it for me, tanks really suffer from the reduced lockbox size when turning and tracking exceptionally aerial targets is the biggest native weakness of them. I'll be sure to give the zooks a go though while checking out the EX arena I've unlocked so far, thanks anon
>>21740482
hell yeah brother
>>
>>21740516
>>21740475
Gave the bazooka a quick shot and for some reason it seems to really struggle with accuracy? nothing is abnormal with my arm weight or anything and I was keeping him locked on for a good while, he was jumping around a bit but even then it seemed to angle its shots off in all sorts of directions half the time compared to grenade rifles and linear rifles. Any idea what was up? Might've just been bad luck, it was Bolt after all and he's a mobile little bugger
>>
>>21740534
That's just standard dodging, the game tries to lead locked targets and bazookas have slow projectiles so a quick change in direction at a fast speed will cause the "projected trajectory" the FCS sees to be nowhere near. In LR it's very important to learn when to fire, red lockbox doesn't mean guaranteed hit. Wait for enemies to come down from a hop or similar low-speed situations
>>
>>21740578
Ahh projectile speed, for some reason the biggest downside of bazookas escaped my mind. No wonder then, lol. Yeah, I'm pretty familiar with the rest of what you mentioned, I don't think I could've beaten LR otherwise but I do appreciate the explanations nonetheless my man
>>
>>21740362
that’s weird, I remember being able to just keep walking with my tank and not get hot anyway, you will def get hit while trying to get on the door though.

As the other anons said, Revolution disc carries it hard despite being just old missions from other games recreated in AC3's engine.
Nexus suffers from the curse of having the best fucking OST of gen 3 by a long shot but being terrible in terms of gameplay and missions, and the prototype pulverizer/Nineball is pretty cool I guess?
>>
>>21742845
The ending is the most kino oldgen AC got but everything else on the main disc is pretty meh to shit to just plain messy. Its experimental, woe
Rth seeing through to the end for the finale and to see some of the settup for LR and a couple cool missions
>>
>>21742444
It's not nearly as good as it looks and is extremely buggy. There are a lot of hidden issues because they use a tonne of shortcuts in the backend and you have to trial and error to see what actually works and what doesn't instead of being able to work through things systematically and intuitively.
>>
>>21742845
The heat thing can be mitigated. After tinkering with the parts and tuning (! press square over a part in the assembly) I basically never had issues with it. For me what Nexus is missing is the Arena. The pilots/ACs in the missions seemed pretty cool (even though the english dub VA for Genobee phoned in his lines) and I would have liked to square off against them at will instead of just in a mission format. Evangel and Sight Hawk alone brought so much personality whereas 3/SL felt a bit more empty compared to 1st and 2nd gen in terms of AC pilots.
>>
I have the default classic controls beaten into my brain. They're second nature.
I haven't played any of the twin stick games in 14 years. I have two questions.
How much do the controls change from Nexus->Gen 4->Gen 5? Is it unavoidable that there will be subtle changes every generation?
Second question is which would be best to learn first? If I want to adapt to all of them ASAP?
>>
>load up aclr
>try to beat vr test ac in garage
>delete iso 5 minutes later
yep sticking to 2 and 3
>>
>>21743079
You can just use the old controls in the other ps2 games, as for the other gens those play pretty differently so I doubt you’ll feel like you even have to adapt to the sticks specifically.
>>
WTF actually affects your rating in AC3? How do I consistently get S ranks? Is it speed? Damage taken? The missions I actually get an S on seem to vary wildly in the results so it can't just be expenditures.
>>
>>21743097
Skill issue.
>>
The real AC scale https://youtu.be/YWgjjVlhm0g
>>
>>21743194
What you said but also your accuracy%, some missions value speed more than others, not sure but the amount of enemies killed might also affect it
>>
>>21743206
So how do I S rank the Magna Ruins mission? I destroyed both enemy ACs while barely missing and barely taking damage. Did it quickly and with no ammo costs.
>>
How did From make AC3 such a massive improvement over 2/AA in every single regard imaginable then fuck up so incredibly hard on Exile?
How do you design a game that's 99% kino and then 1% that is a bigger pile of dogshit than anything in the previous five games can even come close to?
>>
Is it possible to make an AC in LR that uses the highest power booster and the dual shoulder extra boosters that doesn't continually build heat until overheating? The moment you commit to Pegasus you lose any hope for your AC to not overheat unless you use bitch tier boosters.
That said, Pegasus in LR doesn't really give you much of a speed boost once you get the top tier boosters, you'd get maybe 10-20 more speed at the cost of much worse heat and more energy drain.

Gen 4 has pretty intuitive control as long as you choose the control scheme where you shoot with L1 and R1 and boost with the triggers.
>>
>>21743313
Boosting with triggers is going to be the part I struggle with the most going forward, I can already tell. It feels weird taking my finger off the X button for more than a few seconds.
>>
Same anon that's messing around with high speed/boost ACs still, does weight affect your energy consumption while boosting at all, or does it only affect speed?
>>
>>21743326
That's the beauty of that control scheme, by putting boosting and firing on the bumpers and triggers you can have your thumb kn the right analog stick 90% of the time allowing for the best possible aiming.
>>
I've made a biped AC that can move at 400+ kmp/h while still regenerating energy, booster button unpressed, with a pixie3 in hand and over 8k AP

I know its probably not news to anybody, but god damn do I enjoy experimenting around with builds in LR and just getting an idea and trial and erroring my way into eventually making it or something close
>>
>>21743326
don't give up, skeleton
you could make a frankenstein control setup like this: dpad and triggers for moving/looking as they were, extension L3, OB R3, boost X quickboost [], you can bind switching weapons to a direction on each stick and shooting on circle/triangle but you can't assault armor, it will be uncomfortable to use your thumb for 3 buttons at once(4 if you want to shoot both guns at once)
you could macro for assault armor if emulating or change the OB input, the guy that made it so it needs 3 separate inputs instead of being rebindable to 1 should get shot by a MADNESS/XA

What if From Software pulls a fast one and includes NFTs like that game Spider Tanks
>>
>>21744159
that's thecore precept the franchise is based on, so yes. Some games you can just brute force though, always depends on how gud you git
>>
>>21744159
Yes and no
Yes in that each new game does allow you to experiment or stick with the loadout that suits you best
No in that it's not always consistent between games to a very frustrating degree, some missions you can plan and figure out just fine while others you'll hit your head into a wall until you just win
They all still improve from each other to a degree regardless, although I think Phantasma feels more janky and numbered titles have a more consistent quality to them compared to the named titles
>>
>>21743652
>>21743708
Someone else playing LR for the first time at the same time as me and got the same ending, neat, congrats.
I agree with parts destruction, though for me I like it for a sense of randomness and luck it can kinda add to things, makes things feel less predictable and more frenetic in a fight. It can obviously be controlled, it is mostly affected by what side of you gets hit the most like a cube but even then it can be surprisingly precise and ypu end up damaging a head or arm or legs from straight on shots instead of a core
>>
>>21744165
From Software? No.
Scamco? Easily.
Good thins is bubble popped and nobody gives a shit, unless they're already knee-deep, like Square. Scamco was too slow and now it's too late to bother.

I only had one part ever beeak on me in that first route, my head in i think the dual AC fight at thr desert garage against gubbin whathisface and rim fire. Tanky build and always equipping a solid or en shield mitigates it pretty well

>god I suck at hopping/scooting/whatnot, I can't even consistently avoid the test AC's attacks, I'm not hard landing or anything my timing just sucks
Try relaxing and doing it mindlessly so you can feel out the natural timings within yourself that corresponds with congruence of "required" timings
>>
>>21743332
Only max speed iirc
>>
>>21744788
I experimented more and I found what I think was something of the problem, I'm making my turns too late after jumping [my practicing is attempting to scoot in place with alternating directions every jump, so a \_/ sorta pattern], if I flick the angle as I make the jump from boosting then my speed drops far less as I switch direction.
Also beat my second route just now, seems I've ended up doing pulveriser route 1 and 2 in that order so the seemingly easier ones despite trying to generally pick what seemed to be the harder missions the first time around lol. I like Evangel, he's a cool guy, the ending in pulveriser route 2 is kino even if I triggered the cutscene in less than 10 seconds of the mission starting by pumping him with a shoulder pulse canon and a left arm zook
>>
>>21744795
Oops, not pulveriser route 2, evangel route obviously. Dunno how I got that mixed up, the guide I'm looking at to check is a bit confusingly layed out maybe
>>
What the fuck is this? Valkyrie's gun always hits but you can barely keep her in your box. I've never repeated a mission this much.

2 isn't that hard it's just unintuitive. Half the missions you're better off zooming past everything for the objective.

Hello everyone! I'm a newcomer trying to play every(ish) game leading up to AC6's release, currently 25% of the way through Armored core 1, wanted to ask how well you can emulate the ps3/xbox360 era games? I realized that I have a copy of Armored core 5 Verdict Day I got for christmas many many years ago but how feasible is it to emulate them?
>>
>>21744829
I was fine with 2, it's another age that throws 2 flying H+ in a small arena that gives me problem, i've saw a mission where you get ganked by 3 dudes too, that game is brutal.
Shame though, i had fun with the mission where you assault the air base.
>>
>>21744847
I'ts not impossible but has its caveats, some cutscene crashes to avoid, some textures getting fucked mainly on ACs themselves, etc. I wouldn't worry about it until you've gotten through everything before then, you've got a long road ahead of you.
>>
>>21744848
Oh sorry I misread your post. Yea AA is tough. The challenge is part of the fun IMO.
>>
>>21744850
Yeah I bet, it took a while to get used to customizing so much but its fun so far.
Also I looked on some second hand websites for my country and everyone was either either 20 dollars above MSRP or this one guy that tried to sell it for 135 Euro.

Hello /acg/, I've been trying to rip whatever parts I can from the gen 1 titles, but for whatever reason the textures always end up getting cut at random places and at the bottom, I remember seeing another anon here dumping textures from these games so if anyone knows an easy way to rip those that'd be awesome.

For someone just starting out? Yeah it is. You don't just factor in the number of games, but the number of failed missions, Arena losses, load times, customization, etc etc
AC takes getting used to, and someone just starting out won't know how to optimize their build and fly through the missions in one sweep.

Other than that you could try Final Fantasy Tactics or Vagrant Story if you want something a bit less "anime" than the usual RPG favorites. If you have no reservations about edgy anime RPGs or quirky cartoony RPGs then FFVII and FFIX are good choices, respectively.

AC2 ranks among my favourite. The sound design and OST are perfect, the arena is great, the missions are memorable and the feel of the game is still kinda quick and snappy, nothing feels like a slog. The only thing that really hurts the game compared to 3 is the lack of good R arm weapons and still being limited to blade in L arm (although I think they overdid L arm weapons with some of the later games).
>>
>>21746753
I have no modern reference for Armored core games so I just kind of take it as it comes, just didn't want to waste my time if it was considered a bad game yknow?
>>
>>21746745
It's not a bad game, but the part variety is kinda small and movement feels a bit sluggish, most people write Gen 2 off because it was kind of a slow transition gen between first and third but there's really nothing wrong with either 2 or AA, at least in the sense that the flaws that those games have can be largely found in every other entry.
You should at least play 2 because it gives a closure to the Gen 1 timeline and what happens to Leos Klein after MoA, the music is also really fucking good.
>>
>>21746760
It's not considered bad lol. Nexus is considered bad (because it is). The main complaint I've heard of 2 is that it doesn't shake things up as much as 3 but if you liked the PS1 games I don't see why you wouldn't like AC2. AA I can understand skipping but not 2.
>>
>>21746745
Play master of arena first, and AC2 is plenty good and one of the better stories and settings in the series, but its missions can be tough/tedious and theres only a handful of weapons worth the time of day in the game [not like there isn't a small selection of op choices in every game but still]
>>

Nexus is good. Stop being filtered.
>>
>>21746765

>>
>>21746618
Just play the games that have tuning.

Missile spam is very effective against him. Otherwise just learning how to avoid him to start with, usually involving an OB at the start to one side to circle him as he starts his flyby run, and then figuring out how to best goad the sword beams out and avoid those. Since those are the moves he has to stand stillest for you can chunk the fuck outta him with the strongest shit you can carry in those moments. He'll stand still to fire at you other times too but usually not as long or easy to hit, but you can get some good ones in if you're clever.

Spent a while looking for this Armored Core music video. Dog shit video quality, but I still like it. Wanted to share it. Should download it before it gets scrubbed from the Internet or something. Japanese Fragile's death scream is best. Guttural scream sells that his brain is getting fried.

For biped builds:
Get best shoulder radar you can settle on (and best radarless head)

OB tap from bunnyhop when he gets behind you or transforms and starts sending missiles
Use anti-missile extensions
Bait the motherfucker into trying to blade you when you're way above him hopping
If you're cool: when he's behind you in AC form you can try the maneuvering behind him by boosting in a hook backward without relying on turning - if you pass through his blading then you'll get him into a nice position of you caving a burst of shots in
>>
>>21746658
I guess I can see why
AC-based wargames would be good only with playable units being not just ACs and 5 gen has the smallest size differences to make combined arms work
>>

>>
>>21748236
Ending of passionate sex with Nineball justified it all, though
>>
>>21748389
I didn't pay attention to any of the story, and I still had fun. As far as I'm concerned, the game is just you shooting stuff, and then you shoot a red guy, and then you shoot a computer, and then the end credits roll. Fun robot hijinks don't need much justification.
>>
im getting filtered hard by last raven... bunny hopping is way too difficult than nexus...
>>
>>21748389
I watched and read every cutscene and after a point things stop making sense because the backstory of the world they're setting up stops lining up, the timeline of who was around to do what in the leadup to the games events falls apart if you actually pay attention. And besides that its mostly just cheesy anime crap like that one dude having a 10 minute death monologue that serves no purpose whatsoever.
I actually like the game, mind, but story is far and away its biggest weakness bar none and I hope to see them improve on at least their storytelling in the sequel.

My most weird and probably unlikely hope for AC6 is that tuning [assuming it returns] now has visual representation of what you did.
Nothing crazy, but I wanna see like, stripping the part for weight actually takes a panel or two off by the time the bar is full, and boosting anti-ecm on a head gives you a little antenna or something you didn't have before, max weight on the legs might have some little visual supports/struts on the leg or around the joints show up.
Of course my more extreme desire is this is integrated into a system where tuning actually requires you sacrifice one thing for another instead of always being a net gain over default, so you'd end up with say more weight to improve things like max leg weight because of these struts or improving ecm response on a head nudged weight a fraction for the antenna and then worsens your actual built in radar as you're rerouting the systems to ECM instead
>>
>>21748711
Sexy thoughts but it wouldn't make nonsense for tuning to be done all inside without visual representation otherwise

With the budget FromSoft has they better've gone for this tho
>>
I hope there are optional extra booster parts again. I want to take up both the back slots and the shoulder slots with more boosters.
>>
>>21748751
covering yourself in boosters is fuckin funny i hope its in too.
Conversely I want the inverse, I wanna see some stuff like side shields but heavier and just add some extra AP and defenses on the back slots as well as the shoulder/extension/whatever slots

I agree but more importantly I want the weapons to be balanced. Having a ton of different weapons and having a variety of unique weapons are both good, but I'd take 20 weapons that are all super viable vs. 50 weapons but only 10 of them are worth using and 5 of those 10 are unmatched and break the game.
>>
>>21749297
agreed, quality over quantity

I sometimes think balancing should be completely separated between PvE and PvP modes, which would be possible in this game since the Arena is completely separate from the regular game
>>
>>21746851
I beat him with those little can-shaped missile weapon arms, the largest ammo storage back unit, and a light reverse joint AC with the fastest FCS+lock on speed option. Basically, I bunny hopped backwards around the edges of the arena and beaned him with missiles because he has no anti-missile defense. Try to stay a little close so he tries to blade: that's like a free 3 lock. This really does depend, though, on how many times he decides to spazz out and fly around shooting missiles. A good radar and the 20% ammo may gave been better in hindsight.

Here you go. Got this quickly because I've been playing the games very recently. Hard to get a good picture because the camera is zoomed in so close, but the black car comes up to about the knees. I don't think this is a definite indication of scale in AC1, though, because I'm pretty sure there are other environmental objects that suggest otherwise.

But speaking of which, one thing I hope for in AC6 is that there's plenty of environmental clues to indicate scale and that you are, in fact, playing as a giant robot. AC1&2 games are pretty bad at that, especially when it comes to hallway missions.

I hope not, I get people like hovers for looking cool but they forced quads to get altered and introduced annoying water missions. Plus in general the concept of hovers feels really weird for how generally important energy economy for boosting is to begin with, like, they're just doing it constantly at a sustained verticality which generally isn't something ACs do

The 061 used to be THE single most-used arm weapon in the game. It was literally the damage and velocity of the 051 with the RoF of an assault rifle and like 600 shots. They nerfed it because it was so good there was no reason to use anything else. It still has a niche in being one of the only rifles with enough ammo to fight multiple battles.
>>
>>21749305
>I sometimes think balancing should be completely separated between PvE and PvP modes

Fuck that shit I want to pilot my AC UNDER the water in 6. Give us missions with both above and below water environments. Maybe even go the extra mile and make it affect parts and performance. Instead of swapping to annoying hover legs, give us boosters that specialize in underwater movement, give us torpedos and physical melee weapons. Make the water slow down movement but reduce heat.

Download emulators. DuckStation seems to be the most popular for PS1 titles. I used Retroarch with Beetle PSX core. PCSX2 Nightly is the way to go for PS2 games. For later gen it's either Xenia for 360 versions or RPCS3 for PS3. Depends on the game.
Get the bios' for your PS1/PS2 emulators.
Download roms. Stay away from PAL versions.
Play.
Save files are transferrable within a gen, see pic related.
Make sure to save your progress and have some backups going a few missions back because some misison give you gameover if you fail or abort.

It's likely that you'll be thrown off by the archaic controls of Gen1-3. Use a mix of in-game and emulator remapping to have the left and right sticks simulate the corresponding face buttons for modern twin-stick controls. In the case of PCSX2 Nightly, I also found that emulator remapping couldn't do this without making the sticks sensitive to the point that they're always inputting, so I had to also use the remapping tool DS4Windows to get this scheme to work.

I've been thinking lately about an alternate control scheme nobody really talks about:
d-pad for looking up/down/left/right
bumpers for strafe left/right
triggers for reverse/forward
I feel like this would be more natural than look up/down on the triggers as that always fucked with me meanwhile this would have the triggers sorta mirror basic accelerate and break/reverse in like, racing games and shit. Also I believe theres some cases where either on emulation or maybe on real hardware where it naturally replicates the dpad to the left analogue stick, so you can get stick camera movement with 0 effort in emulator settings and maybe real hardware though I can't recall for sure

CAN ANYONE HERE READ KOREAN?
They gave some more details away here according to Google translate, but I don't like all that I'm hearing. Classic flight mechanics are confirmed in as we pretty much knew already from screenshots, but this "all four shoulder buttons are for your weapons" thing doesn't make sense. Fellas I do not know if shut down internecine is possible with a tank
The fuckin bizzaro pulveriser moves so much, linear guns seem to work well on it as it seems to force it to stay at a distance more which makes keeping aim on a lot easier, probably something to do with the stagger value of them, but that plus a left arm zook is never enough to do him in before he melts my slow ass though it seems even for fast builds some of the attacks like the rapid red beams are unavoidable. Also it has fucking phantasma beams which is great
>>
>>21751330
Micro missiles + extensions rape it, as do spread bazookas. That mission id actually easier on a tank because the boss has undodgeable hitscan beams that will delete any light AC

As a rule I do not use missiles cause I find them boring I like aiming at shit and shooting it with big fucking guns
Anyway after like half an hour or more of bashing my head against it unwilling to remake my AC for en resist because I'm stubborn I managed to do it in. I got a lucky run with a plasma rifle instead of the linear gun which surprised me, no idea what I did differenlt but probably got lucky with the AI.

That anon above mentioned the 4 back buttons. I too am curious about how boost is incorporated. Will L3 be boost? Sounds awkward as hell. Maybe something's lost in translation here.

>>
>>21751583
Certainly bunny hopping is out of the question in that case, or really just turning and boosting. I guess the normal speed you move at will be fast and dodging will be more about controlling directions and boosting will be something you do situationally. Then again I expect players might discover a better way to map the keys and break whatever gameplay From was expecting.

Let's not start another east vs west retarded thread here. Even MechWarrior uses jumpjets, 360 degree spinning torsos, fighting with damaged limbs etc. I think AC does it the best if anyone, but let's just...not be hostile for once?

to my understanding, not really
it was a Japanese meme making fun of how comp players would do ridiculous things for even tiny optimizations iirc

Before I opened your image I thought you'd screencapped the part about customization. From mashed up arcade style action with gran turismo with mechs. It's very satisfying to screw around switching back and forth between parts and getting your calculator to pick what has the best overall damage vs DPS with a weight/energy consumption/charge drain you find acceptable and to see it all in action.

You're either lazy enough to pay for convenience or motivated enough to get it for free, pick your lane.

The west already started it by huffing their own farts and the Titanfall devs pretending they invented fast mecha, with their Funkoslop-collecting fantards eating it up and crying to this very day about it's death.
The west deserves to be shit on. Don't dish out what you can't take.

Emulating the old games isn't even piracy. None of the money goes to the original companies in an aftermarket.

>spend hundreds, but also to jump through a bunch of hoops ordering physical piece of shit that might or might be too scratched to be usable.
Skill issue. You can find cheaper listings by putting in slight effort and having some patience, check images for quality, and grow a ballsack and demand returns/refunds when they send you something more scratched than the pictures instead of being a meek antisocial pussy. If all you care about is playing and not collecting you can also just buy the disc without case or manual and drop the price by 30-50%.

Well, it's still illicit reproduction and use of software without license... but there's no real money in being litigious over something that's more or less abandonware for the time being.

The interview does mention being able to rebind the controls so while Im not worried about the way the controls will handle, I am worried about what such a decision for the defaults means in regard to how boosting will work and the role it will play in the game. I hope it was some amount of mistranslation or there is something we simply dont know yet that paints a fuller better picture

It in fact does the opposite of annoy me. It announces your presence like a tripcode so you can get made fun of for being such a faggy little redditor.

You're a mind-coward and a total newfag lol
The backbone of this board for a decade was namefags dropping content there was no other way to easily get hold of
Discussion used to be the secondary purpose of this place until content distribution improved with torrent sites and scanlation groups having their own sites now
And now you can't even do discussion here anymore because of dumbasses like you lol
>>
>>21752060
You know that a) they backpedaled on that, b) they were talking about how slow and gay western mecha were, and c) this was well over five years ago, right?
