Omg I just realized something. I didn't see it before as a kid but now I see.

Kimberly breaks up Tommy during Zeo with a letter. She claims she found someone else. And she specifically says it's a person that Tommy would like and respect.

Then during the Turbo movie, Kimberly happens to be with Jason and they are taking a vacation together...just the two of them on a tropical island. And they are doing activities together.

It's clear now. Kimberly broke up with Tommy to be Jason. It makes perfect sense. Both of them are former Rangers and fought together. Jason and Kimberly can relate to eachother. And since Jason isn't a Ranger anymore he can also travel the world with Kimberly and support her at her gymnast competitions. And Jason is definitely someone Tommy would respect and like. It makes perfect sense.

One of the best Sixth Rangers too. In terms of “team player” he was definitely one of the best at it. He always knew when to step up and when to support. Him talking to Tommy about leadership in Zeo was top tier.

Another thing about Jason is that he did not desire leadership or the spotlight. He simply did what needed to be done.

I always got the feeling that Tommy was more about himself. Not in a bad way but he didn't help the team as much. I was honestly surprised how weak the 5 Rangers (Rocky, Aisha, Adam, etc) became when Tommy was the White Ranger. I don't think they beat a single monster without his help. They were always asking for Tommy or asking where was Tommy. That was a huge problem when your team can't fight without you there to lead them.

Meanwhile Jason took the time to teach Martial arts classes to everyone. And trained with Zack and helped Billy become a better fighter too. He wanted his team to succeed. It wasn't about him. Jason was definitely more considerate of the bigger picture. If Jason wasn't there, then Zack would step up. Or even Trini or Billy.

I always thought the Dragonzord was based on the Dokosaurus or Spinosaurus. These were Dinosaurs that could swim. The creators needed at least one Dinosaur that was water themed. The Spinosaurus swam and hunted around coastal waters. Just like Dragonzord.

Why are they trying to push Trini X Zack so hard lately? It never happened in the TV show. I mean if anything a Trini X Billy relationship was far more likely going by on screen hints.

After watching Once & Always I realized that fans had it wrong for so many years. Trying to make Power Rangers dark and gritty was the wrong way to go. Power Rangers needs to remain colorful and light. That's how the whole thing works. The story can be serious at times but it should never become grim. There should always be hopefulness at the core

I think Once and Always should have taken the "Fast and Furious" approach to handling a deceased cast member. Basically do to Trini what they did to Brian. Trini gets sent off screen to live raise her kids and is only referenced off screen. Then give some throwaway line like "You know Trini is busy raising her family. She doesn't know, but We all promised to eachother give her space."

Or just say like "Trini can't help us with our investigation, but she will meet us during the battle" then use old sound clips of Trini's voice. Or use AI to generate to new clips. Or bring in Aisha or make up a new character like Trini's sister as a replacement. Having "Trini's daughter" as a replacement feels weird because of the MASSIVE age difference between the cast. Plus the actress isn't very good despite what social media says. Preferably They should have made Aisha do it.

I am surprised they never did a legacy ranger returning full time after Dino Thunder.

It's an okay suit design even if some elements like the abs are overdesigned, but the helmet having no changes to match it makes it stick out like a sore thumb. The arms in particular are also much too dark. The color gradient on the thighs is fine, it adds just enough darker red for a bit of extra detail, but on the arms the dark red is the dominant color to where it completely throws off the color balance of the suit and almost looks villainous.

The actress was fine and she was supposed to represent a new generation teaming up with the old original rangers. She acted like a lot of teens I know sure she wasn't fully fleshed out but I think they made her one dimensional because of the time restraints.
Having the character Trini Die wasn't the issue. Originally this was a final send off to Trini but then the actor for Tommy also passed away. It would be tacky if they killed off every ranger who dies in real life but if they switch it up like having Tommy or Kim retire off screen id be okay with it

It would have been fitting for her to end up as Zack's bitter ex-wife. Could have been a funny line in O&A which also gave us some insight into his personal life after MMPR. Instead, Zack is just some sad, single, childless 50 year old who adopts his dead teammate's kid. I don't know why the people making this show are so against giving the old characters families. Trini only got a daughter to serve as her replacement, yet no husband, or hint of Minh even knowing her father. Tommy only got a wife and kid because JDF mandated it for the 25th. Yeah I know there was the Zeo Xmas episode, but after Forever Red, Dino Thunder, and Legendary Battle came and went without any mention of him having a relationship with Kat, it was looking like it was gonna be retconned out of existence until Dimensions in Danger. Series with robot cast is likely not to get adapted( then again, I might be biased, since I wasn't a fan of it).

Don Brothers would be interesting to see adapted. People in previous threads have said that its reliance on CGI and plot would be difficult to adapt even under good circumstances.

It's a bit different when it's a comic book character who is forever young versus human beings who are aging in real time. JDF was right to insist on Tommy having a family in Dimensions in Danger. Jason should have gotten a similar treatment in Grid Connection. Instead he just appears out of nowhere from a portal and we have no idea what he's doing with his life. He's not wearing a wedding ring, so it could be assumed he's not married. A simple detail like that would at least convey something. Why not at least let the cast members wear their real life wedding rings to show they actually have personal lives outside of rare instances of being a Ranger?

It makes me want to question the personal lives of the writers and producers. They are unable to write about stable families. It was cringe when they retroactively made Captain Sulu gay in Star Trek because the actor George Takei in real life was gay. The writers were trying to make a tribute to him. That he played Captain Sulu as a straight man, and they shouldn't mess with the lore just because the actors gay in real life.

Serpentera probably could wipe out primitive planets. But not planets with advanced space civilizations. The Machine Empire probably has defenses set up that would protect them from Serpentera's first attack. They might take some damage but not be defeated. Then Serpentera has to take time to recharge for another shot since it's a huge energy hog. During that time the Machine Empire launches all their weapons in big counterattack.
So Serpentera couldn't take their base out in one blow which is the only way Zedd could win.

The Machine Empire weren't sitting ducks like Rita and Zedd. They may have parked their base on the moon, but it was called the Machine Skybase for a reason. It was mobile. I'm pretty sure Mondo sent in Quadrafighters initially to force Rita and Zedd to flee before settling on the moon. Serpentera would have been overwhelmed by Quadrafighters and Gear Ships if it had actually tried to fight, and quickly run out of power. Serpentera would have needed a single stationary target to have a chance.

I wonder if the Gold Ranger is disappointed that the Zeo Rangers are retired now. They were only active as a team for 1 year before retiring.

Maybe it's time for Power Rangers to play the idea of the old Rangers selecting replacements for the next generation of Zeo Rangers.

Whenever multiple monsters were made at once they always seemed to be weaker than a singular monster. I've always head canoned that Rita and Zedd only had so much energy they could imbue their monsters with at once, so if they made multiple monsters at the same time that energy would need to be divided between them.

Think how easily the Tigerzord and Thunder Megazord took out 6 giant monsters in "The Wedding" compared to getting their shit pushed in versus 5 in "Ninja Quest". What was the difference? Rito. He wasn't a monster created by Rita or Zedd, he was the son of a powerful entity with his own energy. Also, while Zedd previously made the monsters grow himself, this was the first time Rita and Zedd combined their powers to make their monsters grow, so it's possible those 4 monsters were twice as strong as they would have been if they were solely Zedd creations made large by growth bombs.

Here’s exactly why Lord Zedd and Rita were the best Power Rangers villains: They were cockroaches. Evil, scheming, magical cockroaches.
Until Turbo, they out lasted every other big bad. They out lasted Master Vile, Hydro Hog, King Mondo, Louie Kaboom, and Gasket. They outlasted 4 different sets of Zords.
The thing is that no matter how played up the new threat is, Rita and Zedd don’t quit. Vile did half the work they did and ragequit. Mondo overstepped his hand they saw he could lose. Gasket ran off when Mondo returned and didn’t ever try to come back. Zedd and Rita could lose a hundred times but they’ll scheme and find a way to become a threat again. They can be on the moon in a castle or in an RV with nothing to their name and still be a pain in everyone’s ass. Then when they were completely counted out, they come back and make a monster that tanked a fucking Ultrazord and another than took over an empire. And even counting the Z Wave, somehow they even fucking survived THAT.
It’s exactly why I doubt that Astronema eventually wouldn’t have had to deal with them. Those fuckers don’t stay quiet for long and always manage to pop up by the end of things. My hope is that Zedd in Cosmic Fury keeps even an ounce of that tenacity.

I would have liked to see more magic from Rita and Zedd. I never understood as a child why they didn't just cast more spells instead of just one evil spell per episode for the Rangers to deal with. Or why Rita didn't send more than one monster to Earth.

Looking back on it I think it would have been a nice little lore add on to see Rita working above a giant cauldron like a witch. And saying something like "casting spells takes time. And I've prepared a very special evil spell the Rangers won't be able to deal with!" or have another scene where Rita says she only sends one monster at a time because she can only control one major monster with her binding magic and make them grow.

Then have Lord Zedd show up later on and call Rita an amateur. Zedd is able to control multiple monsters, give a power boost to the putties, and general up the stakes the Rangers have to deal with eachother. Suddenly the Rangers can't deal with Lord Zedd's attacks without a 6th Ranger constantly present. Maybe show us that Lord Zedd was the one that taught Rita some of her spells. But she wouldn't listen and obey him. So Zedd casts her out of his Palace just like in the show. Basically show Zedd as stronger. Then you can have Rita's family show up just like in the show. Etc etc. Zedd can control multiple monsters.

Then the Machine Empire shows up and they laugh at the idea of magic. They manufacture their monsters and control big parts of the Galaxy. They laugh at Zedd's efforts and force him off the Moon because they have far more resources than Zedd and Rita at their disposal. But of course have Zedd and Rita in the background sabotaging the Machine Empire's efforts. Soon the Galaxy laughs at the Machine Empire because they can't conquer a single backwater planet. So their reputation takes a hit. Basically I'd like some extra lore about the Alliance of Evil and get bigger hints of how it works before we see them a lot in Power Rangers in Space.

I always took it that Zedd was more tenacious, psychological, and probably more powerful, but Vile was wiser and more experienced.

So in this very specific tier of "Zordon Era villains that are presented as stronger than Lord Zedd" - which is basically just Master Vile and King Mondo - where would Ivan Ooze rank? I've always considered him and Master Vile roughly equal in power, more or less. Would Vile have been able to laugh off a murder beam from Zedd? Would Ooze have bowed to Dark Specter? How well would Ooze have dealt with the TV show Ninja MegaFalconzord?

Zeo is one of my favorite seasons and I re-watched it a couple of years ago when they dropped it on YouTube and the first half is kind of hit-and-miss. It has some good episodes, but it also feels super slow for some reason. It picks up tremendously and becomes really fucking good after the Gold Ranger saga/Jason comes back... and then it ends out of nowhere.

Nowadays we know production was difficult and they were running out of Ohranger's footage and wanted to shift into Turbo and the movie, but as good as Zeo is it feels like it could have been even better.

It would not surprise me if Ivan Ooze was helped sealed away by Dark Specter himself. Ivan Ooze has too much of an ego to obey Dark Specter and probably would be a problem. I also question Ivan Ooze's power level. I'm not sure if he's that strong or if his body just had a special resistance to magic and energy attacks (because he's just semi-solidified Liquid Ooze). So it might be that not that he's powerful, but his body is just anime levels of absurd.

Tanya replacing Aisha was weird. Weird African girl from the past somehow becomes modernized in 2 episodes? Wtf. They kept giving Tommy more and more special toys like having his own personal Zord. That privelege belongs to the 6th Ranger. And that rolling giant hamster ball weapon that Tommy had where he Yolo'd into monsters.

When Jason came back is when I started watching regularly again. It was awesome. Although Billy got shafted by not getting the Gold Ranger Powers. They should have at least had him morph into his old Blue Ranger outfit with some special American footage. Like they did with Tommy and his Green Ranger powers.

Zeo ended weird too. Just randomly ended one day. Poof. Done. I think it would have seriously benefitted from a Zeo movie, or at least a 2 part Zeo TV special to give Zeo a proper send off.

It’s hard to gage Ivan since, while he did shrug off his Zedd, we really know nothing about that Zedd and Ooze himself never really did an awful lot that came off as impressive, and didn’t even seem to be able to grow his own monsters (or even himself, he had to fuse with a robot). Rita, Zedd, Vile, and Mondo all had feats at some point that outdid anything we saw Ivan do.
He seems like he would’ve probably tried to overtake Specter, given his general attitude.

Tommy had all the cool toys because that's how Ohranger worked where Red was the most experienced and strongest of the group and not King Ranger. Billy wasn't Gold because the staff were giving him hell because he was gay, which was always why he wasn't gettnig any special footage of his own.

Zeo ended because they decided not to drag out the suits for more than a year anymore and it was time to switch to Turbo. And Ohrangers final battle wasn't really suited for PR (it involved the Machine Empire invading enmass and them spending most of it out of costume fighting them because they lost their powers) so they couldn't use the actual flashy finale.

Master Vile would be a really interesting character to tackle in a reboot, granted if there were sequels. I would really emphasize how Zedd is a powerhouse and a wrecking ball, but Vile is essentially an evil scholar. He has spent centuries learning the ways of evil, gathering ancient tools, and finding out about spells so old that they aren’t even translated in this century. His disdain for Zedd could come from Zedd’s refusal to acknowledge powers beyond his own, whereas Zedd considers Vile’s methods to be a crutch. Vile could also hate Zedd for turning Rita against him.
If I plotted it out (and if I was allowed sequels), Rita would be the villain in 1 and 2, Scorpina would arrive in 2 as an emissary of Zedd and would adapt Green With Evil, Zedd would arrive in 3 with Serpentera, 4 would be Vile, Rito, and Rita and potentially lead to Zeo.

And on top of half the team being morons and not using their Armor, overall the grand final battle for the MMPR feels kinda... meh? They should've gone all out for it and really make it feel epic. Instead of just fighting Goldar, Rito, and the Tengas, they should've pulled out some old Kaku and Zyu2 monster suits, maybe even have Zedd and Rita show up. Maybe include that brief scene from the Kakuranger finale of Master Vile tussling with the Megazords. And on the Rangers' side they definitely should've had Ninjor show up.

And the big final tense moment before Rito successfully plants the Orb of Doom is the Orb gets knocked out of his hands and goes rolling along and there's a big madcap dash as multiple characters (maybe even include Alpha, Finster, Squatt, and Baboo in this sequence) chase after the rolling Orb and try to grab it before Rito finally gets it and plants it.
