Bought it on a whim. What I am for, /m/?Also G-saviour thread
a gundam game you fucking retard
Do you have a jap PS2?
A great action game, really well designed although obscure, Late UC suits, insane music, god tier atmosphere, more Late UC lore, cool main pilot, a great time indeed.
>>21557337Some Grand Turismo soundtrackI say that in a good way https://youtu.be/vqAPGeBquto
UNF designmuch superior to the original
you can't strafe nor lead shots and automatically switches to melee within a certain range even if you can't actually hit the enemies.
i've seeing concept art of the g-saviour medias in the past. From what are they? the game guidebook? or another one?
>>21557438There's was a Newtype 100 special for G-Saviour, full scans including a load of linearts at the end can be had at: https://e-hentai.org/g/1959897/f478d33518/?p=1
>>215573375/10 game at best. The final boss filtered me so hard I dropped the game without finishing it
>>21557734>got filtered>thinks he has a right to an opinion
>>21557388>automatically switches to melee within a certain range even if you can't actually hit the enemies.that sounds like Zone of the Enders
an alright 3rd person action game that has a soundtrack that wouldn't be out of place in an arcade racer.
>>21557337pretty good, especially if you handicap that it was, I forget, either a launch title or near-launch title for the PS2much less one connected to an IP that has a questionable track recordI recall enjoying messing around with it for a bit on a burnt disc but never felt compelled to really go nuts on itdefinitely worth trying at least

ROLLER BLADES
the last UC protagonist
There's this bit in DW Gundam Reborn where you help Diana learn about the "Dark History" and the during the UC era they have you go up to around Victory/F91 and then make a very pointed statement at how what we know about the Universal Century stops there and then. I don't know if that was an intentional dig at savior, but I laughed when I thought about it.
>>21558549Poor G-Saviour. If the plot was a little better, you could forgive the silly acting and still enjoy the surprisingly nice-looking CGI. A nice little B-movie.
>>21557753People can have opinions from watching a game trailer or a gameplay footage.>>21558631I would forgive the movie if it didn't spam interracial kiss scenes very often. That was fucking gross.
>>21558631The plot of the game (post movie) and the audio drama (pre movie) are argually much better. though the novel does add more information. The game itself don't even really need the story and is more it's own thing while around the same time period.>>21558645She was cute in the novel.
Thread needs more Christmas spirit.
BUMP
The GM of the IlluminatiI wonder how they find their saving to make those and the G-saviours.
I wonder how the Earth managed to heal post g-saviour considering by the time of the video game it's almost a wasteland.
>>21563469They apparently are all made from re-used parts, even the Saviour suits, which is what made them special and cheap. A genius guy named John Saviour figured out a way to overclock them basically. G-Saviour is probably what would have happened if Amuro actually installed the Tem Ray module
>>21558543such an ominous title, he truly was the last saviour of a dying world
>>21558549Might have been a shot at Gaia Gear, more likely.
>>21558470There’s a manga? Now even if we don’t get the novels translated and my reflexes suck for the game this sounds more interesting desu
>>21557379Dunno why but I'm getting major phoenix gundam vibes from this.
Anyone know if the novels are translated
>>21568686They are.In italian.
>>21568876Mamma mia I pilot the gundam >>21568876
G-Saviour Space Mode is a pretty solid design once you get over the exposed frame on the arms and legs. You get the impression that it's designed for minimum weight and maximum thrust and it has a sort of "we built this with limited resources" look.
>>21569007It's more or less canon that all factions in G-savior have limited ressources and overall knowledge in mobile suit. Testing shit to see if it works. Almost all of them are made out of scrap, especially the Illuminati suits since the Illuminati is a small group that defected CONSENT.And even CONSENT ends up splitting in the PS2 game.
>>21569162>>21569007Honestly I like the free-for-all future of G-Saviour. Seems like it's getting closer to the kind of world X was
>>21569007>high speed low drag
>>21569167With how the earth seems fuck. It looks even more gloomy than X.Honestly I can't see how the world got better in G-reco or even Turn A with how fucked the things look in G-saviour. Unless G-saviour split from the canon into an alternate future. Some part of the earth looks like compelte wasteland.
>>21569470Don't forget that in the movie they found the magic solution to the food shortage, so there is hope
>>21569472Yeah but then Kuntala
>>21569470>Some part of the earth looks like compelte wasteland.Earth already, currently is like 36% uninhabitable wastelands, so that really does not mean much
It’s cool that the whole catapult articulates
In term of power, are the G-saviour and G3 savior stronger than most Gundam or actually weaker?
>>21573595If we're being realistic, they would probably be about Z Gundam tier with G1 Saviour being on par with stuff from post OYW cutting edge projects, with the added quirk of some more advanced tech like F91 era shelf thrusters and beam shields that managed to be preserved/rediscovered
anyone had any luck ripping models from this? i wanted to rip the g3 but ninja ripper 1.x is just spitting out random exploded vertexes and i can't find anything that can even read the .nr files that 2.x spits out
>>21573595"Stronger" is always very subjective when it comes to machines, completely depends on what you're measuring. Is F91 stronger than Zeta? It is definitely faster and smaller, but beam weapons are pretty much ohko no matter what their wattage so the weapon power doesn't really matter, and Zeta has more survivability against physical weapons.
>reject the girl>embrace Coffee
UC 0224154 years after the one year war, The remains of Operation British still exist
>>21574200sovl
I wish the consent soldiers had different faces but the game probably had a shoestring budget.
>>21574184there's small variations. But I feels like it's mostly not noticeable due to the characters all having helmet beside the Lightning crew + the characters all having some "pudgy" faces for some reasons???
>>21573919>It is definitely faster and smaller, but beam weapons are pretty much ohko no matter what their wattage so the weapon power doesn't really matter, and Zeta has more survivability against physical weapons.F91 also has beam shields though, which are good for pretty much anything, beam or physical. Except its own VSBR weapons, which can penetrate even those.
does the game play like ass? tried Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam the other day and the gameplay was awful
>>21574480It's clunky since it's a 2000 PS2 game so the console had just released and the dev team likely used PS1 hardware. But it's short and there's worse.I like old clunky things
blue eyed Gundam
>The game ends with "this is only the beginning of G-saviours"They really wanted to do more and instead it failed so bad they will never directly acknowledge it again.
>>21574482I guess it doesn't hurt did you try that Gundam OYW game for the PS2? plays surprisingly well but doesn't take kindly to emulation
>>21574488They learned nothing from F91.
>>21574489I did. It aged very well graphically too>>21574494at least F91 got a shitload of side content.G-saviour will either stay ignored or will gets retconned. there's absolutely no way they explore it again. it became a mark of "shake" with both bamco and fans.
>>21574497shame, not shake, kek
>>21574488it might have done well if it wasnt so low budget. please look forward to the hollywood live action gundam movie
>>21574480Plays surprisingly smooth. Don't know where "clunky" comes from at all. It's a rail shooter like Star Fox, but without pushing you forward... so maybe more like a corridor shooter. There's auto-aim so you only need to position yourself to get a lock on and dodge enemy bullets, but you're rated based on accuracy as well so you shouldn't just go blasting like a shmup
>>21574497G-Saviour was pretty much doomed from the moment they decided the main installment of the whole initiative would be a late 90's, live action, CG-heavy, made-for-tv movie, filmed in Canada, starring Canadians, that would only air in Japan. It was just a bad fucking idea that the budget, tech, and culture weren't there yet to support.
>>21575750Try reading the production history before you start spouting bullshit nonsense.
>>21575768I have and none of that changes what I just said about it being a bad idea from the start, other than it having a theatrical release too, and an English release that came three years later.
>>21575787Clearly you didn't because the film never had a theatrical release.
>>21576681It was released theatrically in Japan on June 18, 1999. Over a full year before the film's first television airing on December 29, 2000. Take your own advice you stupid fuck.
>>21576811That was a CHARITY EVENT SCREENING you fucktard, not a national theatrical release. The same went for the US screening. Christ, do some basic ass research.
>>21577163You still haven't answered what any of this has to do with my point that G-Saviour being a live-action TV film starring Canadians wasan all around bad idea.
Was it ever explained why the game never got a japanese dub?
>>21577166Don't change the subject just because you're wrong. If you read the production background that's been talked about by oh, idk three podcasts now, you'd see it was chosen for a reason and even learn that it was praised.
>>21577186Answer the question you fuckwit. The entire venture was offputting and ended in failure, to the point that now Sunrise will barely acknowledge it beyond a single cameo in Build Fighters almost a decade ago. It was a bad idea.
>>21577196In your mind, maybe but overall, hard no. The film was received quite well on both sides. Just because Sunrise doesn't acknowledge it means squat. There's lots of shit they don't acknowledge as years go by. When's the last time a huge game release like Cross Dimension was mentioned again? Super popular Green Divers? Mega popular Gundam the Ride?
Bugu 2 and G3 savior were supposed to get gunplas but they never released
>>21557337>What I am forfuck your shit thread, faggot. just play it and find out. FUCK you faggot
>>21578187Wow, way to totally make shit up, dude. The text says:"Certain stores distributed a first-time bonus with the game, and there are also various other types available, all of which are crafted with exquisite attention to detail."
>>21578508NTA Did those figures EVER released though?
>>21557337People all talk about the BUGUs, but opinion on the Spearheads?
>>21578521nayrt either, but I'll jump in too since I've seen these things posted before. The gist is that they were 1/220 resin kits produced by Atelier Sai, which had a very, very, VERY limited distribution as a pre-order bonus. They do occassionally pop-up on the secondhand market (in fact there's someone selling them on Mercari right now if you've got 70,000 JPY burning a hole in your pocket), but that narrow release was all they were ever meant to get, so they remain very rare
>>21578585Damn, was hoping to take the bugu, but it's way too pricey.I guess my G-saviour space mode HG will do.
I like how the bugu 1 didn't even get a true render so it's just the in-game model.
>>21578543Nice, but G-Saviour has nothing but good designs imo
Opinion on the Raid? Also, anyone knows the font used for the G-saviour logo? the one on the box.
>F-Saviour>G-Saviour -> G2 Saviour -> G3 Saviour>I-Saviour>J-Saviour Where is H-Saviour?
So what was their goals anyway? They just seem to be in constant in-fighting.
One of my favourite games, still plays so smoothly to this day.
>>21557837This scratch build is so impressive.
>>21574488I think that line was written exclusively for Japanese consumers who played the game when it was new; the game was the first commercially released part of G-Saviour, the film, audio drama and novels came out after.
>>21577171Stays in keeping with theme of it being the "North American Gundam" which was in English since the promotional trailer.https://youtu.be/zD0olKfasQQ
I wish the dub was better. Especially Rhysis, dude sounds like a fucking dweeb scientist when he's supposed to be a very talented ace pilot.Reed sounds very laid back but still pretty good at least.and god the audio mixing with the soundtrack is trash.
>>21558470where can I read this manga?
>>21558785who drew these covers again?
>>21594677Suzuki Masahisa
>>21578187They were released as resin kits in very limited numbers, you tard.
Is G- Saviour actually canon
>>21594212It's fine as it is, it's more charming if anything. The quality is what you would expect from something dubbed into English in Japan.>>21594867It's more than canon.
>>21594674Japan. :)
>>21586362The in-fighting only really occurred during the events of the game with hardliners like Bais funding Project Raven in secret and the Gremley Sheep declaring a coup d'etat against the regular Congressional Armed Force.
>>21594867To what? There's no UC stuff set after it, and it doesn't reference any earlier UC stuff as having happened, so there's not anywhere for canon to actually factor in
>>21594867It's in a strange position where the era never was explored or referenced again. So for now, it's defacto canon, but if they ever go post Victory, they might retcon it, either by reusing Gaia Gear (with the Zorin Soul teased in F90 Fastest Formula) or with something else entirely, because I can't see them re-exploring the G-saviour era again.
>>21596482>and it doesn't reference any earlier UC stuff as having happenedThe game has a stage inside the dropped colony on Sydney, a stage at Kilimanjaro where Psyco Gundam was battled in Zeta, and a stage in the crashed Angel Halo (where the crew says they feel a creepy presence)
Does the game deal with the food shortage at all? I wanna see how they get from here to Kuntala
>>21597292No, it's all to do with the Illuminati fighting the hard right of the CONSENT.
