Genuine question. Why do so many people start frothing at the mouth by the mention of the Word of Blake? Is this something I'm too clanpilled to undersrand?
Besides Mechassault 2, I'm not too familiar with Blakists, but a few reasons as to why people don't like them are:-They're muslims-Blake sounds funny-Derived from Comstar-Started the Jihad and ruined everything-No redeeming qualities-Literally the devil-No memorable mechsSeriously, Star League and Steiner have the Atlas, Clanners got the Mad Cat, Kuritans have the Jenner, what the fuck do Blakists have? For all of the tech they stole, did anything interesting come out of it? It's not like the Spidermech or Ragnarok are canon.
>>21457293Go read the article at sarna.Basically, imagine that your ISP is run by religious nutjobs that praise their founder like a god, loaded with cash because they have a monopoly on interplanetary comms. One day you badmouth them because you lost your connection for a couple of minutes and instead of banning you or sending you a letter, they carpet-bomb your house at best, send a dropship to your backyard at worst. It's okay if you barely know about the Word of Blake if your exposition to the BT universe has been through the games, like in my case; those are mostly set at that timeframe where the Clans appear in full seing in the Inner Sphere and how they start battling for territories or meddling in the IS power struggles.
>>21457308>what the fuck to Blakists have? The Archangel, like in OP.
>>21457293/tg/ loves them. They are third most popular faction there after comstar and purple birb.
Wobbies kinda fucked up the tech curve which lead to lots of stuff that pretty much was pulled out of their ass making their kit just that much better and well kinda rolling over everyone at the start. Another reason for the hate is what happened AFTER they got beat. The Dark Age was an attempt to reset the tech level but really people didn't like it at all as in some cases it was going to preHelm Core era/Pre-Clan Invasion era. And now the current era is also to be blamed on the fallout from the Blakists. I still blame the Capellians for all these issues.
>>21457293The WoB itself isn't the whole problem. The Jihad and later dark age also did a lot of the lore pretty dirty. Lots of fan favorite characters reduced to footnotes via suicide bombing or author oversights, and the characters they were replaced by like Devlin Stone are frankly dogshit.

>>21457345What a cool name wasted on such a boring->100 tons with 3 jump jetsOkay, maybe Blakists had some good ideas.
>>21457293All of their designs look like shit
>>21458712Blakist CAD/CAM software were all based on an early release of Sketchup.
>>21457674This is your Khan.
>>21457293They genuinely did nothing wrong on their own, the entire writing around everything after the clan invasion is just dogshit
>>21460940Fedcom civil war was a lot of fun though
>>21457293To add and consolidate from >>21457308>>21457541>>21457546>>21460940Due to closing of FASA everything from the FedCom Civil War forward happened at a TURBO pace. So where the Clans functionally had decade to happen the Jihad certainly did not. Not to mention most of the plot in that time frame didn't seem to make a lot of sense for almost all happening within 30 in story years. We're talking UC levels of WAT and CRAM here. Some of their near exclusive mechanics, like C3i, are not fun to play against and some feel are significantly under valued for points cost. Especially if you aren't playing with the same tech level. On the tangent of design, the angular "stealth" look of their mechs meant that their minis could be a royal pain to assemble what with the top heavy design set on top of spindly thin whitemetal limbs. Finally, they were almost all universally evil nutters while desperately trying to be that edgelord from your freshman Western Civ class.
