>>21454514
This anon does have a point though, building in that pre-render is smaller than it should be. Or rather AC is bigger. It's a production image though, so I'd rather follow final product sizes, which do align most of the time.
>>
>>21454517
>>21454524
I concede defeat, you proved me wrong. It fits the scavenger aesthetic too, although it's weird that the shop description lists it as if it were a mass production model. Also, I imagine the lower window was added on by whoever rigged it together too.
There's also the possibility that standardized production and the AC's high modularity means this was an intentional use for the door, the same factory that makes APCs can offload those parts to spruce up AC cores as well

>>21454535
Well we can either take it at face value, or devs or even in-game providers can just be cheeky with their "mass produced" moniker, essentially hoarding leftover scrap and putting shit together to sell it to whoever is willing to buy.
I mean it's even in the opening, kinda.
>>
I mean ACV in general has a lot of quips, jokes and character shit-talking each other, which is kinda uncharacteristic for the series, but with that in mind, why wouldn't everyone in the game's world, including shop owners, be any different?
>>
>>21454567

Should've updated the OP to account for the February game show changes.
>>
>>21454462
>The game itself seems to run a lot better too
If you're emulating it then be aware it'll crash still, there's guaranteed crashes in a lot of story mission cutscenes but you can just skip those and watch them on Youtube, then there's occasional mid-mission crashes but those aren't guaranteed, I think it has something to do with sounds playing over eachother.
>the energy economy is so much better in VD it's unreal
I kind of liked V's slower place honestly, VD retreats back more toward 4th gen.
>>
>>21454628
Oh, so that's what happened. I had a crash during mission 2's cutscene and wondered what was going on. Your'e right, it's definitely sound-related. Wonder if there's a fix
>>
I'm pretty stupid, that's a given. But is it direct3d 11 or software mode that makes the game run better? I'm on a potato and I realized that software actually fixes the darkness issue a few threads ago but I'd rather see a slightly blacker world (EW!) than run sub 60fps.
>>
>>21454649
software mode will always run worse unless you've got no GPU. If you're having issues with darkness, fuck with skipdraw settings (assumign you're playing the ps2 games)

Wait, is this tuning? Is tuning determined when you buy a weapon?
>>
>>21454729
Yes, ACV had unique tuning per weapon too but it was random and determined when you bought it and you couldn't see its final stats until you fully leveled the weapon. Here you can just set it from the start. You want 2 power 1 acc on most weapons.
>>
>>21454733
why ACC, does it change lockon time? Most fights are close enough that weapon spread is a non-issue
>>
>>21454736
That and muzzle velocity. There's not really any point going full spec into power as 2 points into pow is well over the breakpoint of most PVE enemy and hurts the other stats too much.
>>
Fuck Oswald, fuck Zodiac, fuck Cordelia and fuck this mission.
>>
>>21454740
I see. I went 2 pow 1 RoF since I assumed more dps would be good, but the game crashed when I confirmed it so who knows if it saved
>>
>>21454733
>fully leveled the weapon
Excuse me what? How do you level weapons in ACV?
>>
>>21454745
What's wrong with ir? It's easy as shit. You can faceroll most AC fights with dual shotguns
>>
>>21454748
You just grind out missions using them. Most people just spam the Flame Fly kill AC mission to grind out weapons, that's why he became a meme in the Japanese community and why he (sort of) makes a return in VD.
>>21454749
Well yeah, you can max out pow on weapons like pulse guns and shotguns since you just shoot those point blank anyway.
>>
>>21454753
Oh, pulse guns are shotguns? I assumed they were pistols. Then again, I never used them. Thinking about it, I nevwr reslly used any EN weapons in V aside from laser rifles for specific enemies. Maybe with VD's energy economy I can give them a try, any recs?
>>
>>21454753
Anywhere I can check the progress or stats change? Or it's all hidden?
>>
>>21454761
Seconding this, never noticed any stat changes during my playthrough. Is it a MP only thing?
>>
>>21454749
I never actually even tried shotguns.
I will now.
>>
>>21454757
Pulse guns shred enemies (and your EN bank) in seconds, plasma rifles have phenomenally high attack power that can't be blocked out unless you're a fully TE-kitted tank but have roughly the range of your AC's dick, laser rifles are much easier to use this time around due to being able to hold the charge instead of automatically firing at full charge, PMGs actually don't completely suck dick this time. That said they're basically strictly PVP only weapons because KE/CE gets the job done better in PVE anyway.
>>
>>21454761
>>21454766
There's a bar called Performance in the weapons tab in the garage, your weapon isn't at full stats until that bar is fully maxed out and green.
>>
Holy shit, you weren't lying about dual shotguns.
>>
wait what is going on? can Xenia run VD now?
>>
>>21454769
Laser rifles could hold the charge in V too, but they kept draining while you held it. I don't know how much charging the hsot affects the damage though, especially isnce a lot of the rifles say "rapid fire model" or "capable of rapid fire" in the description, which makes me think they want you to spam them without charge
>>21454807
now go forth and brat-correct every AC fight. I'm fond of the big damage ones (second in the list I think) and the ones that look like sawed off double barrels, those fire fast but can have ammo issues
>>21454808
yes, it takes some doing but it runs V pretty well and VD less so but still playable

I hope 6 gives us more cores that put the heads in weird positions like how that one has it way out the front and really low
And head parts that don't look like heads, such as a RCWS head or tank cupola, and of course the good 'ol radar.
Also more weapon-arms that don't look like normal arms with a gun instead of a forearm
I just want more non-humanoid parts to build a metal gear or a spider tank, or tank ACs that don't look like a goofy crippled robot

Abe Marshe is Emil? Where is this stated?
>>
>>21455125
Emill gives you the Line Ark briefings in 4A which implies he's in some position of leadership there.
White Glint (both versions) were designed by Abu Marshe who never appears onscreen and is never voiced but was purportedly one of the designers under Dr. Jarnefeldt that fucked off to Aspina when the doctor passed. Line Ark is formed from the remnants of Anatolia and the members of Aspina that managed to escape Omer's takeover
>>
>>21455199
Line Ark's liaison is definitely not Emil in FA. He doesn't say 'good luck' once to the player.

The joke is that if you step back and take a level headed enough look at things, you're already describing things that Armored Core has already done.

Well, except for the 30 dollar DLC. We usually just end up with full retail price standalone expansions that nearly invalidate the prior version and can be argued to be a waste of money the way fighting games used to be lousy with rereleases before they too discovered how to use DLC to digitally circulate the content independent of the game.

>>
>>21455530
I'm not talking retry buttons. You are just done and the game autosaves as it sends you back to mission select. Whether you are allowed to retry at all depends on the mission. I guess there's an added nuance of failing forward like nexus where the game remembers that you failed and adjusts the mission accordingly. Of course, depending on the mission, some might let you take it like nothing happened. Either way, repairs and ammo are paid for as normal after the failure.
>>
>>21455540
We'll have to see what approach they go with, but I personally prefer keeping the retry button since it's too easy to get blindsided by a mission demanding a different loadout than what you have, and then it's gone.
>>
>>21455518
Nah it'll probably still let you manually save, but you'll have a one save per account/profile limit so if you want to do a new game without wiping data you gotta set up a new login/profile/archive your save and start all over.

I agree with you man, I found AA to be a bit of a slog especially as it went on, lacked some of the better elements like arena and mail which totally could've been included without putting a story overarching into things and breaking that mercenary sim vibe. But SL went from like, fun initially to just boring and/or a ballache as it went on, and when I started looking into the parts unlocks beyond the ones gotten for fulfilling in mission requirements and completing the arena I just stopped going for 100%. I think most of the mission ones are a pain and I'm not even keen on a ranked system to begin with but fuck going for every mission S-ranked, I just wanna play the way I wanna play with the mechs I make. All this stuff turns the series into a replay focused arcade-like experience instead of just a cool, short mech story with a small but healthy amount of replayability

I think theres good replayability and bad replayability. Even with all the time in the world I wouldn't really be interested in what SL is offering in that department, in general I find early 3rd gen to be pretty mediocre and just to not have the hook the previous games had.

I think thats a bit unfair to say, if his preference is just to get as much out of a game as possible no matter what theres nothing wrong with that, and his point kinda IS that playing everything 'at once' will give an unintended, unnatural experience compared to when they released with at least a whole year between most entries if not more

>so SL has bad replayability because [dumb shit nobody said and you pulled out your ass]
I refuse to be baited.
>>
>>21455728
The problem with that "replayability" is that there's a shitload of parts hidden behind 3-4 dumb, hidden, sometimes mutually exclusive requirements per mission. Without looking up a complete list you'd have absolutely no idea what you can get and where, and either way you have limited customization for most of the game.
I don't think many would complain if every mission just had something 2 extra layouts with different objectives unlocked after clearing the game.
>>
I just did the secret requirements for the parts that I wanted
>>
>>21455754
Limited customization? SL has a lot of parts, even from the start.
You sound capricious, you want everything with minimum efforts.
>>21455762
no bro, no no no. You HAVE TO get everything in one run bro. An AC game needs to deliver 95% of its content in one run, otherwise it's bad replayability.

Jumping from SL to NX with its crazy heat management but without the easing in from having to build your AC from the ground up would've been pretty harsh whiplash
>>
Heat management needs to come back.
>>
>>21455811
>>21455804
I'm willing to err on the side of major balance changes everyone start from zero, but that wouldn't have prevented writing up conversion tools that take SL builds, invalidate anything that wouldn't yield a valid NX build and otherwise unlock what carries over and such. It would be some overnight work for sure but nothing impossible.

So that leaves the alternative, that something broke compatibility under the hood. I've had a gut suspicion NX had some engine overhauls since as far as I know that's when From discovered the blur effect for PS2 games, and if the format for anything player alterable was changed between SL and NX that could make a clusterfuck of a time reformatting and validity checking all the save data from SL into an NX compliant state.

This is all baseless speculation mind you. Sometimes weird dev choices that look stupid to us outsiders have a rationale for them that we aren't privy to.
>>
>>21455860
yes.
But heat management doesn't necessarily mean retarded booster heat, or forced cooling eating EN
>>
>>21455860
AC never had heat management. Only heat debuff.
>>
>>21455880
Fine by me but what would you replace it with? Booster and generator heat both sound rational enough to me even if it's annoying in gameplay. Then again generator heat would make more sense if generators had a continuously variable output.
>>
>>21455880
>Heat management shouldn't include these two things that actually logically fit into heat management

Now what's actually stupid is the idea Output Down is a !Poisoned! damage over time. Really if you want a poison status in AC there should be corrosive weapons.

Wait actually I think DXM did that with acid guns come to think of it.
>>
>>21455918
Output down never bothered me as much as overheat status. So you're telling me my AC is fine anywhere from room temperature to 1000°C but as soon as it gets to 1001°C it'll start to continuously take damage until it goes back to room temp? That's just fucking retarded.
>>
>>21455911
I'm okay with generator heat.
I just hate the annoying feedback loop of heat in late third gen.
>boost
>overheat, EN drained, stop boosting, take more hits, more heat
I love heat weapons and missions where heat is a factor. Output down alarm and AP continuously dropping is enough imo
>>
>>21455791
Yes, they are. >>21455799 is wrong. You just have to save your emblem in Silent Line specifically.
>>
The problem with heat in Armored Core is it's doubling up something already abstracted. Like what the fuck do you think is limiting EN output or weapon RoF or TE defense to begin with? Thermal management is already accounted for in a basic sense. A heat system only makes sense in that framework if you have an emphasis on widely varying environments and you particularly want ACs to perform differently based on those locations, and it wouldn't work much like it does in the PS2 games.

Heat works in Battletech because the game directly represents energy usage and firing rates through it and it does self damage in an actual logical way instead of somehow ablating your armor. In general AC terms basically the engine is your booster and your heat sinks are your generator.
>>
can anyone give a newfag some good weapon suggestions for LR? i've been able to figure out good stuff in every other AC game, and when i couldn't make stuff work, at worst i'd consult a guide on GameFAQS. but both guides there are either mostly focus on mission walkthroughs or giving you full builds without explaining why those are actually good or not. i already have a good body build and dammit i'll make it fit for the rest of the damn game, i just want to know which weps are ass or not

also, would prefer if i didn't have to use missiles, but otherwise anything goes

CETUS arms against an annoying target
Shade EN rifle + energy blade for basic missions against MTs (consider using a radar or even 2 radars if there are ECMs)
kinnara + relation missiles for big burst DPS
Selena EO core is handy for its unlimited ammo and nice range and damage
dingo2 legs, loris arms
you can also go for mobile tank legs + cannon (linear gun in particular)
linear rifles

Heat would make sense if the systems in your AC were explicit and not abstract. Like you say, energy is just a broad abstract statement that encompasses may systems instead of just the electricals.

Nah its fucking cyprus this should be a joke but I'm hard stuck on this cunt cause I don't normally play bipeds [tank/quad user] and I'm intentionally avoiding using any rapid fire weapons like machine guns or chainguns, and I just can't deal with the guy as he's flying around with HIS chainguns [two of the things] at mach 7 with perfect tracking and a handgun that staggers me every single shot so much so that even with the optional part to improve turn speed [fucking scam that thing does piss all] I can't keep up with him let alone even try to evade once he's closed distance because i'm being stunlocked like a lil bitch
I am currently attempting pelting him with the highest strength rockets in the game as he approaches since he always does it in a straight line and that gets him down to like 4-3k AP, but I literally just can't fucking land the rest of the damage whatever weapons I try, handguns to try and stun him back, shotguns which seem to be the best at actually landing any hits, handheld grenade launcher that can't fucking track the guy, whatever.
I'm enjoying the experience honestly, I found ac3's arena almost disgusting easy as a tank, the whole game felt like it was either way too easy or just a big fucking pain in the ass as a tank with no inbetween so it was never really fun, getting a good challenge like this is much more interesting. ah cypress.
Guess what, he comes back in Silent Line. In a mission where you fight 2 other ACs as well (don't worry they suck).
Maybe playing as a tank didn't force you to boost hop and maneuver correctly? Tank legs are pretty good for a DPS race but there is always a point where you will need to dodge shit instead of face-tanking while using powerful weapons.
>>
>>21456164
I can boost hop and stuff, I have played biped a little before, but you certainly dont need to as a tank in 3rd gen. It's actually still pretty important in 1st gen and 2nd somewhat too, its obviously different as its only single taps as opposed to double taps and theres no big breaking animation to avoid though. In ac3 and SL, especially with OPI making energy shields free, its just about effective enough to slip into an eventually very boring strategy of energy shield up and rapid fire weapon on a tanky as fuck tank and that'll melt arena and get you through most missions, though obviously with less and less ap to spare towards the end and not fulfilling many of the werider trickier shittier requirements in SL. I didn't even know he came back in SL cause ACs were a non-issue with a tank in 3rd gen for the most part, I like tanky playstyles being good in any game as I enjoy them but in ac3/SL they're good in a very boring way for how they mesh with everything else and how enemies fight you

1HP excellent as a hangar option in singleplayer last raven though if you have a lower DPS higher capacity weapon as your actual weapon.
Just does so much damage and WS lockbox helps it immensely in killing the speedier enemy ACs. You can equip a more rounded loadout as your regular and pop out the handguns once you need to deal with a 2nd or 3rd enemy AC.
A lot of the top tier weapons just have good all-round characteristics and LR, like nexus, has ammo cost only a tiny amount of the mission reward anyway.

LR has really balanced weapons
Even shit that seems bad on first glance at its stats like the 98L minisawa usually has hidden positive features like high velocity shots and the ability to load extension ammo.

They say AC6 is gonna be more like Dark Souls, but really, I think "the Dark Souls of mecha" would have to be made by a western developer. Dark Souls' obscure style of storytelling was made to recapture the feeling Hidetaka Miyazaki had trying to read Lord of the Rings in the original English as a kid despite the fact that he barely knew any English. /m/ Souls should recapture the feeling of trying to play Gundam/SRW games untranslated on an emulator. Or reading the weird engrish text on model kit packages at a hobby store.

Crawling through the final 15 or so arena opponents in Project Phantasma and I'm not feeling good about it. I don't feel like I'm improving and every opponent frustrates me now. Even when I win it feels like I got lucky and the AI broke or something.
How do I improve? I keep trying to strafe and boost to dodge shots but it rarely works and the opponents that stunlock me are infuriating because I simply can't boost out of their fire once it starts hitting me.
>>
>>21457160
The Evas were actually alive, though. ACs are still completely artificial and controlled. Which makes it even cooler.

Don't bother, PP's arena is BS on purpose, especially number 3. They all have giga DPS arm weapons and abuse the awkward camera, and I'm pretty sure the AI gets better tracking too. You're supposed to cheese them, it's not a fair fight

Gen 3 > Gen 5 > Gen 4
Gen 4 is like some amateur was trying to ape Kawamori, while not being sued for ripping him off.
Gen 5 is unique and fitting world's aesthetic, I fucking love it, and would still be happy if 6 looked like 5.
But since it looks like 3, I'm still happy. We don't know if Kawamori is in on it, but at least it looks like whoever is aping him this time, does better job than on Gen 4.
>>
>>21457418
VD part unlocks are based on 'rank' which increases as you complete missions, score S-ranks and finish optional objectives. It caps at A, at which point you've unlocked everything.
I finished the game with 90% of the missions S-ranked and was still only mid-B. I think A requires 100% completion.

It's a recurring thing in these threads that people get buttblasted around Gepard (a tank build with two grenade launchers) in the PP arena, then you beat him and the rest of the arena is more downhill
I think a skill you can consciously work on is keeping aware of your radar, if you get hit and stunned by a grenade blast or an enemy tries to cross you up by high jumping over you, you have much better info based on your radar for a couple of seconds than you do visually

You barely use the walk function in V/VD but it's cool that KE legs and TE legs move differently despite both being bipeds.
KE legs turn to whatever side you move the stick and run in that direction, TE legs are too fat to turn so they step sideways instead.

>>21457441
Just tested it on the latest Xenia build from yesterday also, doesn't work there either, so mission 6 is it for now I guess unless someone else wants to try various older builds.
>>
"I felt that with the previous game, Armored Core: for Answer, we had gone as far as we could with the "speed" concept. Being able to present a new kind of mech hero in for Answer was a rewarding experience, but if we kept on pursuing speed, then the gameplay would start to falter in spots -- most players simply wouldn't be able to keep up with mach-5 combat. So this time we want to retain the core aspects of what makes the series interesting -- and that includes speed -- and also present some new concepts that diverge from the past.

We're going for the sort of violent action that only mechs can deliver. I want to see the sort of hero that could be born from these powerful, violent machines.

Up to now, the battles were centered around how well you could dodge your opponent's attacks while firing away and gradually whittling down his AP. That's fun, of course, but once one side has an AP advantage over the other, it became difficult to come back from that. This system dramatically changes that battle balance.

The stages are going to be a lot more complex and less flat and there will be a great deal more detail applied to them. We want players to experience a you-are-there feel that wasn't around before." - Toshifumi Nabeshima

I don’t mind it, mainly because it allows for more unique design, but i definitely see your point with the lack of consistency.
Maybe they could’ve gone the way of the phys-blade and gatling, having a handle that the AC grips onto (so carousel animations can be reused), but the majority of the mechanism (battery, emitter, ect) being offset above the forearm like a energy based version of Bloodborne’s Beast’s Claw (there’s a specific name for that weapon design, but it’s escaping me, something indian I think)

Taking a look at the crash log, it says maybe setting "gpu_allow_invalid_fetch_constants " to true might fix it. Do you think that extra large "2-handed" weapons would be possible? Like an extra fuckhuge cannon or machine gun.
I guess they'd be hard to balance since they would probably not have enough ammo to be mission viable and if they were too strong then they might just dominate in the arena.

I don't see how, you are sacrificing another weapon to get it so you might as well get the other ammo space.
The hardest will be making it fit as a 3D model.

As for game balance, making it require a spool up time or to remain standing would be more than enough.

iirc you can play ps2 games on the PS3 if its jailbroken. There's a bunch of steps that I personally wasn't willing to do myself, but people say it works. If you have a ps4 that you don't play online, you could also jailbreak that one and you can play AA, SL, NB and LR with zero issues, AC2 and NX with minor issues while AC3 is fucked after a point. Again I was unwilling to do any fiddling so it might run better if you like pushing buttons on your keyboard.

I wonder if weapon arms were viable for MP. They sacrifice a lot (Can't use shoulder units, can't have a second set of weapons, shit armor) and the benefit is just being a bit lighter I guess? Maybe they were good on light ACs that wanted to cover multiple damage types
>>
>>21458308
>can't have a second set of weapons
???
>>
>>21458308
From what I recall, the cannon type ones uniquely don't require going into kneel stance, and all weapon arms are able to be paired with cannon handhelds and not have to ditch the cannons just to use the weapon arm unlike with carousel weapons where cannons have to be purged since they won't fit onto the carousel.

When I last was able to boot up VD I had fallen in love with the blade arms on aesthetics even if I didn't really enjoy how blading felt in 5th gen at the time. The weapon arms overall go hard on the cool factor.

One of the things that I noticed after a little bit in PP's arena is that if I had a 4 shot launcher and a 4 shot FCS, then I damn well better fire at least 3 if I want any to get through the missile intercept guns. Although it turns out two of the cores have intercept coordinates that make them basically useless, but then later gens not all cores have them period.

Instead of the old radar system you have recon pods. It works in conjunction with other gameplay systems to fill the radar role but its deliberately more "blind" and forces you to evaluate the situation with incomplete information, a detected enemy could be anywhere within the coverage of a recon unit after all.
>>
>>21458667
It's way more useful than old school radar.

I almost found a use case for the Dragon. I think it can pair decently with the Fenrir as a way to finish off a target that's surely almost dead thanks to the Fenrir being absurd while also increasing the lockbox. But then I popped in a handgun and that seemed to do the job just as well. So close.

I like it as an extension of the radar system, but that’s really about it.

That's what I did and yes I got a savestate before the final nigger room.
Also I always save at the start of the mission because AC LOVES to waste you time with tons of shitty menues, loading screens, cutscenes and animations. I can't even imagine what kind of nightmare it was to play on original hardware without savestates and fast-forwarding. 10% missions, 10% garage, 80% waiting.
>>
>>21459652
I liked platforming in every souls games, it gave us the most memorable areas like Blighttown and the Anor Londo rafters + archers. ER also does some really cool stuff with platforming like the Raya Lucaria and Stormveil Castle rooftops
>>
>>21459654
The menus are a part of the vibe and experience of AC so that feels a bit unfair to say as a generalisation, though I have to say I find 3rd gen to be paced extremely slowly even outside the game, especially with putting the shop in the garage menu and not being able to select anything in the garage menu until all three ACs load in.
I've been replaying 3rd gen on psp and it is an INFINITELY better experience, menus are instant and snappy and also just have more and better information and don't look as ugly, and loading times feel noticeably shorter.
>>
>>21459654
gen1 is really bad about this but it gets better with each gen. Gen V is really good about this, the menu preloads all the assets so you don't even get loading screens when you go into missions

>>
>>21459722
It's 100%, and SL really is the first game that MAKES the process unenjoyable, though again I stand by 3rd gen overall having kinda weak pacing and presentation on the ps2 releases
>>
>>21459729
you can't say that when LR exists
>>
>>21459734
I said first, SL came out before LR, but it isn't the only one
>>
>>21459734
The only annoying part of LR was getting the petryon. Can't remember which hand it goes but it was the kisaragi datawipe mission with super unclear S rank parameters. I think I spent hours running it endlessly until I knew where everything spawned and could do everything perfectly down to dropping straight down into the gates, no look jumping back up the grates, killing every single amidah as they spawned and murdering the MTs that show up. Like jesus I think you had to grab all dataterms, kill everyone and walk out in record time while taking minimal damage. All for a weapon I have zero intention of using. I really should have just downloaded a save file.
>>
>>21459745
>>21459750
I meant that you can't say 3rd gen has weak pacing and presentation due to LR, not that it's unenjoyable. quite the opposite in fact
>>
>>21459751
I see, my mistake. I would disagree though, I haven't gotten to LR yet but I found early 3rd gen quite mediocre to boring and occasionally [SL like the 20% of the time it was also being those two other things] a big pain in the ass, compared to the previous games

I dunno man have you ever held a classic Saturn pad? Not the 3d analog proto-Dreamcast controller but the one that's just a refined version of the Genesis 6 button?

It's a God tier pad, not that the classic Sony pad was bad or anything it's just that Sega had mind boggling good ergonomics with those curved puck controllers back then.

That said, they lack the second set of shoulders needed for AC at bare minimum. But they're amazing in any other context!

That wasn't too bad, the dual fight right beforehand was much harder. Gee Raven, how come Fromsoft lets you fight FOUR Nineballs in one mission? Badass cutscene though.
So the plot was literally just AC1 but arena fightan instead if Chrome/Murakumo? Meh, do they say anywhere why you wanted revenge on 9ball anyways?

Moving onto 2 next, do I get the Europe or USA version? are there any changes at all?
>>
>>21459855
Everyone says you wanted revenge cause nineball killed your parents in some grand war between chrome/murakumo.
I'm not sure on the source, probably game manuals. Some people generally look at MoA as a reboot of AC1, and while its true they can't both have happaned due to nineball getting killed twice, I think MoA isn't a reboot so much as an alternate timeline. Chrome and Murakumo also happened and existed in MoAs timeline but are seemingly long out the picture, which implies to me perhaps MoA is the story if the AC1 protag fails or didn't exist, letting nineball control that entire debacle just fine

I know this is going to piss people but classic Armored Core is very similar to the My Player Career in older NCAA/Madden football games (2004 - 2008). Like, 90% of it is checking mail, getting shit post mail from rivals, you being the new kid on the block, spec into your mech(or in Maddens case your player).

Now I don't know what modern football play or look like but holyshit was it similar to the presentation structure of an Armored Core back then. Weird comparison I know.

i generally don't like energy weapons in AC games since boosting is so omnipresent and important, so i always play with shell weapons. the prospect of them being free use is nice but it's also not balanced imo. energy weapons are efficient and have no ammo cost, but to me they're also much harder to use most of the time. projectiles are usually slower and less likely to hit than boolet. whereas muh 1k-MG can spit out so much pure unadulterated DPS that it only feels fair they have to fuck my bank account over for it

not my fault if SL filters newcomers. They can't stop complaining about parts unlocks
>>
>>21460251
Its not much of a filter if it comes after beating the game, though. Its just actually fairly fun endeavour to 100% the games prior to it, but SL has both diablo loot tier parts with tweaked stats, on occasionally kinda shitty requirements, en masse, plus the S ranking everything part meaning that's gotta be done for 100%.
The real filter is just realising you don't have to 100% it and it doesn't really matter if you don't. But it obviously says something about the game if it starts putting off people that were enjoying 100%ing the series prior to it.

Just hosing shit down with rifle and MGs is the easiest and safest way to play most of the games because it doesn't require any EN management or shot timing.

This mission is ACTUAL cancer. What the fuck were they thinking??

>>
>>21460296
Waste your time with it if you want. I didn't when I first played SL and I won't now. Wasting your time doesn't make you cooler, just older with less things done.
>>
>>21460387
why do you even play video games if it wastes your precious time? Do you know where you are? You can't enjoy Armored Core if it has more to offer than easy 100% after a few hours, your problem, don't complain.
More things to do is better, especially when it's fun and diversified like in SL. You don't like replaying missions in different ways and let players with particular playstyles get unique rewards, we got it. Hidden parts bad, optional paths bad, optional objectives bad, ranks bad, difficulty setting bad, multiplayer bad, replayability bad. Video games aren't for you.
>>
>>21460455
Shut the fuck up, you obnoxious nigger. Stop spouting nonsense.
>>
>>21460455
My guy what is your damage? He just doesn't like the Silent Line postgame and you're acting like he's some kind of personal burden on your mind. If you can't handle people having different opinions than you on the things you like, you might be more at home on that other site.
>>
>>21459415
My headcanon is that they gave it the triple shot functionality but then thought it was too extreme and removed that. Then forgot to buff the gun in other areas to make up for it.

Man I feel lige V really needed some sort of enemy database what with the different damage types. Like, when you destroy a unit for the first time, you get all the stats and defenses so you can be better prepared for future missions, you know what I mean? It just sucks to encounter that one enemy where your bullets bounce off, because it has high KE defence for instance
>>
>>21460455
Man, this one really hurt some feelings, eh?
>>

It's not Evangel, it's No. 2448. He stunlocks my ass even with the optional part. I figured out a good strategy that involved micro missiles except my fucking emulator crashes every time I launch them.

About to start picrel, anything I should know? What's the mission structure like, is it like gen1 where you just pick whatever and unlock everything after you beat it? Or is it LR style "pick a path then replay the other path"?

Also, what does hardmode do? Do I get exclusive rewards? Can it be changed later?
>>21460541
He's running Evangel's build from Nexus IIRC, down to the colorscheme. It's nearly the same build as Evangel's LR build except the core is different or some minor shit like that
>Micromissiles crash
That' shouldn't happen, post settings. I've never heard of that bug before, maybe your ISO is corrupted? I feel like it would've crashed before when enemies fired them at you
>>
>>21460544
It's like gen 1, beating it unlocks free mission mode
Hard mode just makes the lockbox smaller, you get nothing out of it and it's not particularly fun or interesting

my personal tip for AC2 is try to be smart with your money early on. for some people, 2 is a really hard game for whatever reason? i THOUGHT it was hard for the first few hours because i just didn't have enough money for a good build yet. maybe try and stick with the starter build for a while or go with energy weapons, because you need that dosh. once you hit midgame though you should be fine, i was able to scrounge out enough for a permabuild that i trashed the rest of the game with

I mean it took them 12 games to give humanoid, highly articulated robots the ability to kick each other without use of external weaponry.
Going back to even FA after V is like having one of your hands tied behind your back.
Why can't I just fucking ram into this motherfucking thing? I have 30k AP AND magic particle shield, sure as fuck I'm not made of paper!
>>
>>21460784
>sure as fuck I'm not made of paper!
You might as well be, NEXTs without their PA get shredded so easily that I wouldn't be surprised if they were canonically weak to small arms fire.
>>
>>21460821
Because their weapons are absurdly powerful and destructive in the first place?
I mean black glint doesn't exactly fold down without it's shield from gen 5 conventional weapons.
>>
>>21460842
>its
>>
>>21460842
No. I'm saying in general. I don't know how the balance is in FA since you'll never lose your PA to an MT unless you're trying to be stupid but in the PA restricted missions in 4 you took a ton of damage from MTs and even tanks. Everything was out to kill you.
>>
>>21460842
Black Glint has nothing in comon with White Glint except for having primal armor and a vaguely similar silhouette. It's built from the ground up using Foundation tech, which is more advanced than 4th gen tech

I was never a fan of Gen 5 aesthetics either, AC's felt like short stack mechs instead of god powered flying death machines.
