>finished Armageddon and Getter mangas, just Hien and then it's Arc manga and anime time>finished New in the mean time just nowI feel New is the most straightforward, what from borrowing and learning from the prior stories, but still what the fuck. I pray to Getter that eventually something may be explained.

>>21435760Weird amount of G-Witch/Getter crossovers
>>21477490what kind of deadbeat escapes so-and-so years into the future to avoid child support
>>21476284Shin vs Neo is the most straightforward, both Armageddon and New diverge greatly from the source material, which is a good thing since they are telling their own stories. SG vs NG is highly compressed but fewer deviations from the manga. It starts with the end of Getter, skips G, then does a stripped down version of Getter Robo Go. Mostly it just keeps the characters from Go as well as the Dinosaur empire revival. The SG vs MechaGore is far better in the manga though.
>>21476284Just finished Armageddon here. I enjoyed it, but at the same time shit felt all over the place. Like Invaders felt way stronger than the non-Getter robots, but then would just start exploding against them. Or how infectious the Invaders are, where sometimes you get them if their guts spill on you, but other times even if you get stabbed by them they don't infect.
>>21477051Trying to remember when this was played, I was very partial to the opening and the preview song, sadly the latter's only half a minute.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR-7BBvZ7wI>>21477158Probably the coolest moment he got in any incarnation, the poor guy..
>>21478111You're right, Shin vs Neo was even more straightforward, and was thankfully not very ambitious with the interesting/frustrating material about Getter Radiation, which Armageddon and New decently dealt with in their own ways. Less callbacks, but gave Texas Mack quite a bit of time to shine. I feel they had time to expand on lore or a true antagonist with the UFO, but glad they opted not to make things too confusing. It felt like a smooth continuation of Getter that gave a new cast a decent spotlight. Did not expect Shou to be that good, shame there's not that much art of this one.
>>21478148I was immensely confused and dissatisfied when I watched Armageddon as a kid, with no manga or context. But yeah, the original(?) antagonsts were a bit inconsistent, and I was and still remain very unsure to what extent someone's converted, or merely influenced by the Invaders (or not at fucking all??), not really sure where Saotome and Michiru's motivations end and the Invaders' begin. As for infections, maybe it differs depending on whether an Invader's trying to infect someone or merely kill them? Like, pre-timeskip, Musashi's dead-dead but Saotome was infected. Or maybe he already was. I don't know. I'm getting filtered by Getter on a daily basis, but it's still a very enjoyable experience. I'd recommend New and Shin vs Neo if you haven't watched those, although reading the manga beforehand might be a plus, to get those little references.
>>21478326Completely agree, and the Texas Mack redesign was great compared to its Toei incarnation. They included the UFO but not the Getter laser cannon from the same chapter, but I am grateful for Getter Go, er, Neo Getter they gave the Plasma Sword to Sho since she is the swordsman.>>21478335During the flashbacks its meant to show that Saotome would do whatever it takes to eradicate the invaders after what happened to Michiru, which led to him making Shin Getter and planning on creating pilots for it. Two of those pilots were corrupted and turned into Gore and Burai. The murky motivations are intentional since the directing staff wanted to keep you guessing on Saotome until nearly the end.Michiru is consistent the whole way through, the only time it's in question is when they are manipulating the OG getter team with an illusion of her.
>>21479223The Toei design was a bit of a head-scratcher, but the redesign was really amazing. Go/Neo was pretty good as well, didn't expect to like a Getter-1 mostly in blue. 3 was up to standard, and 2 is always great, especially with someone like Sho.I get and appreciate Saotome's motivations, it's just that for him and Michiru, I've been told interpretations along the lines of:>Michiru's heroic suicide was still fine because the Invaders could infect Saotome>him building Shin Dragon and Shin Getter was still allowed/good since the Invaders would want this anyway>Saotome's insane plan was influenced by grief/hate but also the InvadersI'd really like to just take them and their indomitable human spirits at face value, but it's a bit unclear how the Invaders operate

>>21478148The Invaders is such a cool antagonist in my opinion, feels like bug type enemies in media (Tyranid, zergs, etc) cranked up to max. But yeah Armageddon felt very all over the place. I heard that the original script was changed hence the confusing direction.
>>21479477Neo Getter being a fusion of Go + G makes it a really cool standout in my opinion.>>21479713Imagawa was the original director but left after the first few episodes. I still think "Getterites" would be a better translation than "Getter rays." The word used in Japanese for 'rays' is 'Sen,' which refers to a grain of rice or other tiny particle. And that's what cosmic rays are -- high-speed, high-energy particles. Putting '-ite' on the end of 'Getter' communicates the idea of ultra-tiny particles.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5elIQV56gM&t=2m38sAnyone have any idea what the English chanting is in the Arc opening? Afaik two websites have a translation in any language and it doesn't seem accurate.>Time for awakening>Days when we reunite>Passing days won′t lead by cause>Let's make a sound>Fight of your livesOne of the voices go "paa siiing daaaays wooon't leaadd byyy cauuuu seeee" in slow rhythm, but I have no idea what the second voice is saying, and it doesn't seem to be a repeat of anything here.
>>21501601I dunno, Anon- when I hear the word "Getterite", the image that comes to mind is something between Chogokin Z and the G-Stone.Getter *Rays*, on the other hand, obviously suggests radiation.
I did not like Armageddon.Coming from only reading the mangas (from original to arc), I got curious about the anime eventually and checked out armageddon since it was the one most people talk about.I didn't find in it the stuff that had me glued to the pages in Go and Arc. The character writing is overall fairly weak, and while it starts off strong with very exciting couple of episodes, the second act is kind of a slog of undercooked serial clichés (Kei gets her big origin reveal almost one episode after being introduced and before she was sufficiently characterized for it to matter) and events that are not as contextualized as they should be for the audience to care (Kei and Go inside the Shin Dragon). On a more thematic level, I did not care for the enemies. A lot of the enjoyment off reading getter to me was the tragic humanization of the enemy races, forced to fight a forever war against a monstruous humanity, fated to plunge the universe into hell. Humanity as both the protagonist and the villain has a delicious tension, that is also uniquely adressed by the characters who refuse to succumb to gloom and keep fighting for their survival, smiling like maniacs. The moon invaders in armageddon throw a wrench in that dynamic, humanity is not the getter's chosen ones anymore and is suddendly thrust into the role of fighting against a more extreme interpretation of evolution than even them. That's a fair bit more predictable and boring. Also Hayato is kind of a basic bitch in this, tho I appreciated Benkei getting a much bigger role, and a female pilot getting some amount of time to kick ass.The art can be fantastic at times tho, and the black getter is still fucking cool.
Initially I wasn't all for going into New Getter, but seeing how it got early getter Hayato on point and was actually the closest thing we would ever get to a Shin adaptation, I started to like it around the point that it reached Heian Onimusha
>>21505943I still think Ishikawa would've ended the manga series in a way similar to New Getter, with Getter entangled in an eternal battle against some Anti-Getter force.
>finished Arc, still immensely confusedCan I just assume that things would have ended in a Mazinger ZERO sort of way, where I should just enjoy it for what it is rather than trying to get the message?>Baku came back from Emperor, may or may not have helped while inside>Hayato waking up Dragon was good for some reason>all the depicted races are fighting for their survival and nobody actually really wants supremacy other than Emperor, which evolves at least 2-3 timesI hope I'm just retarded, which means I can eventually figure out what the fuck's going on
>>21507616What did (You) think of it?>Getter-1, almost certainly Emperor in some form (upper left)>but we saw the bot from the ships combining>and Dragon waking up (lower left)>and a weird bulky thing that's apparently God Getter (lower right)>Shin Getter black takes up the last corner for some reason>most of these are assuredly(?) forms of Emperor
>>21507649My assumption is that this is a juvenile Emperor that is still combined because it evolved from the Shin Getter that lay dormant on Mars. It probably leaves on its space trek with clones of past pilots inside and eventually becomes emperor, then returns to help hmanity and evetually becomes the Getter Army.I also assumed it might merge with Saint Dragon at some point, but there's nothing telling us it eventually left Earth.
>>21501601Because of wave-particle dualism, those particles are still rays so it doesn't matter. de Broglie waves, nigger.
>>21510716Shit, I completely forgot about the one that was on Mars, but you're correct, that'd be the thing that evolves into Emperor. So there's (Saint?) Dragon that wakes up, but that's unrelated to Emperor that'd wake up on Mars?>I also assumed it might merge with Saint Dragon at some point, but there's nothing telling us it eventually left Earth. What do we even know about Saint Dragon, other than that it was seen by Ryoma(?) and maybe talked to it?Should we assume that any/all recognizable pilots in the future were clones, even Ryoma himself? But the actual people still show up as ghosts, from Getter Radiation..
>>21503487I understand your point of view. I honestly prefer New and Shin Vs Neo from all the animated works.Armageddon is nice for it's OPs, Gunbuster-style fight at the end, and some damned good animation and art
>>21511458Saint Dragon was the evolved Dragon that woke up on Earth. Saint Dragon should still be at Earth going by that weird dream Ryouma had, but yeah, not enough to go of.>ClonesIts honestly hard to say what they are, but we know spirits can manifest via Getter Rays, it wouldn't surprise me if you could make clones using that, or bring back people feom the dead.
>>21511594>Saint Dragon should still be at Earth going by that weird dream Ryouma had, but yeah, not enough to go of.So what does it DO exactly.. other than being there for "scary Getters evolve watch out". It's been dormant and a building-up plotpoint longer than the Getter on Mars, shouldn't it be more powerful and relevant?> wouldn't surprise me if you could make clones using that, or bring back people feom the dead.I mean, from the read/watch of Arc, there's some memory of Musashi from the people on Mars, presumably Ryoma, and now there's an out-of-character/different version of Musashi that keeps showing up. Maybe every ship or flagship has this? And "clone based off of memory" isn't the same as the original person, I don't know if Musashi would condone this future... although everyone who merged or was a ghost seemed to have been fine with everything..Also, Shin Mazinger Zero came out way after arc, was the clone thing a homage/reference?
>>21511603My speculation is that Saint Dragon would've eventually evolve to become the core of an Anti-Getter force, led by Kamui. In one of the previous threads, some anon explained how Gurren Lagann's backstory is Ishikawa's Editor drawing from unused Getter material, with Lord Genome being an allusion to Kamui, a Getter/Spiral warrior turned Anti-Getter/Spiral. If that is so then Saint Dragon would probably be inspiration for Cathedral Terra, Lord Genome's flagship.
>>21511714Anti-Getter? I know "but he was about to fight/kill it during the cliffhanger" doesn't mean much, but how'd you figure that?>Gurren Lagann's backstory is Ishikawa's Editor drawing from unused Getter material, with Lord Genome being an allusion to Kamui, a Getter/Spiral warrior turned Anti-Getter/Spiral.Oh. Oh dear. Oh shit. And I suppose we should ignore the (small and meaningless??) post-credits addition for the anime, unless this is way after the "Kamui/Genome's the main antag" arc. Saint Dragon was scary and interesting as well, wonder what would have happened to it.. do you remember anything else about unused/unimplemented material? I know it's not equal to canon, but considering that's all we have left..
>>21511778I thought as a kid, going just from bits of the original show to Armageddon, that this Ryoma was very edgy and angry. But having gone through most of the available material, I'd have to say that this one was relatively reasonable.
>>21511757This goes back to another theory about how the entirety of the time-travel arc was Getter Emperor trying to plant the seeds for an Anti-Getter. During the time-trip, the Getter Legion were basically showcasing their all-consuming nature and atrocities to the Arc team, and to a brooding half-Dinosaur dude no less. This doesn't really make sense as propaganda, UNLESS they were deliberately trying to set up another opposing force, like how they drove the Hyakki, Andromeda and other factions to travel back in time to destroy Getter, only for Humanity to become even more dependent on Getter, sealing their fate as the future Getter Legion. However, the big difference this round is that the would-be foe they are sending back in time is Kamui, a Getter pilot himself. Add that to how Emperor is missing Saint Dragon's memories, i.e. they've never assimilated each other, it's likely that Kamui + Saint Dragon would become the Anti-Getter, utilizing Getter itself and thus capable of matching Emperor. The biggest mystery here would be "why" Getter Emperor would create a foe this powerful.>I suppose we should ignore the (small and meaningless??) post-credits addition for the animeI wouldn't dismiss it just yet, since 1. Kamui managed to flush Saint Dragon out of dormancy using the BUG 2. BUG probably got wrecked which means Kamui's sole option is to take over Saint Dragon. As for Takuma and Baku, they might have learned about Getter's grand plan and understood that they have to somehow fight against Getter to preserve Getter, hence why they were breaking Kamui out. >do you remember anything else about unused/unimplemented material?I don't, I'm not that deep into TTGL. I'm parroting what I read in the other thread, mostly.

I've one unconvincing theory that Getter Emperor's securing its existence (e.g. Saint Dragon fires a getter beam on Mars to destroy Getter Emperor but instead awakes it), but knowing "muh evolution" and "as it fought the bugs, it grew larger", and recalling some cues from ZERO... what if Getter Emperor was preparing its strongest foe, for the purpose of assimilating (as we saw Getter do before), or evolving by fighting against it? I'm a bit partial to this theory..>Kamui's sole option is to take over Saint Dragon.BUG got wrecked but Saint Dragon wasn't piloted by Takuma nor Baku, and presumably not destroyed by an awakened Emperor, that's a bit confusing>hence why they were breaking Kamui out.Despite a heavy hint about how Baku being inside Emperor would be of use? Your theories seem good for the most part, just unsure about the timeline in this unwritten story. And you should finish the TTGL show, it's good! Might watch the movies for a refresher on the concepts, and to get some of that neat movie-only content.

Not sure if this makes any sense, but this came to mind while reading the Manga concerning Emperor and Saint Dragon:-Getter Emperor isn't evil, however, its essentially being used by a corrupt humanity in the future, and Getter doesn't care as long as whatever it wants is achieved. The events in Arc were allowed by future humanity in order to recreate the events that lead to Emperor's creation.-Saint Dragon is its own thing. Unlike Emperor, its sense of self is mainly based on Benkei (Emperor being a huge merger of several beings probably left it without any functional pilots, and explains why the memories had gaps, the meld made them nearly incomprehensible or wiped them). So its mainly a force of good guided by one man. Meanwhile, Emperor's pilot merely looks like Ryouma, but its essentially a husk made from the melding of hundreds of creatures, so it just acts almost on instinct and has a warped morality.Assuming Arc kept going, I believe the direction later on would be on preventing the Emperor from becoming a monster, with the future Getter Army now sending their own troops into the past to ensure their future.

>>21449178I gotta be honest, I genuinely don't like the Getter Dragon's design. I don't know, everything about the design itself is fine but then we get to the head and it kinda just looks weird: like if Mazinger Z and Getter Robo decided to have a baby and then tried to abort it with alcohol but it still lived regardless. It's especially distracting when compared to the original, Shin, and Arc which all have distinct horned devil like heads.I think maybe that's it: how Getter Dragon looks more heroic face wise when compare to the others. The story direction is a bit odd, and the getter itself looks different to the typical devil robot that we know it for, but there's a reason for all that and although I'm only 33 chapters in, I'm quite happy with it. The art style grows on you too, and the getter team being young makes it easier to see why they look like kids, because they are. I will say that it's probably the most coherent I've seen a getter story be, although I'm not entirely finished yet.
>>21512307>Didn't know about Noir either.First you should read Arc ASAP.For Noir: it's an original storyline for Super Robot Wars DD.MPClones of the original Getter Team use black one-pilot Getters that can combine into a giant Getter Robot Noir G(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu8VrQzoeWQ )They fight Brahma, an "enemy" from a Branw World(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brane_cosmology ). The Invaders from Last Day\Armageddon are just its vanguard.>>21512307>Would the others be for Earth and Man?Earth and Sea would make more sense, given it's Getter we are talking about. We know absolutely nothing whatsoever about ONE, though. Only that it did appear on Mars and combined with the voice of Ryoma.Everything suggests it's an infant form of Emperor but, as I said, we know shit.>>21512307>(someone competent can tell you whether Go or Shin should be read first),Go.Shin is a prequel, makes sense only if you have already read Go.
>>21524361I'm sure it'll end in a confusing way, like how New and Shin/Neo were mostly straightforward. But I'll trust you, I really hope the designs are something I'll warm up to.>>21524377I read and watched Arc recently, but I didn't know about SRW DD- alright, three mech/jets that combine seems cool. I assumed Arc was just giving the black Getter from Armageddon a homage. I suppose this is too, if it's taking place after Armageddon.Sorry yeah, I was going with daoism, but Getter seems buddhism-only in hindsight.>but, as I said, we know shit.>he didn't keep notes or tell people things, not even family>nothing even planned for postmortemI'm seeing in >>20158095 quite a lot of arguments between "Arc was never going to have a conclusive ending, Getter never ended like that so it was surely intended to be like this forever" vs "conclusion please"..>Shin is a prequel, makes sense only if you have already read Go.Go said some things about the past that were false or misleading in light of Shin, which I either read first due to a recommendation or just tremendous confusion on my part. Shin was more enjoyable and comprehensible, so maybe I should have gone with the good old production order.

I want to get into getter robo but I know this shit has been running since the 1970s and probably has a dozen versions by now. Is there a fast track starting point where I'm not completely clueless without having to watch hundreds of episodes?
>>21525744Don't watch the anime. Read the manga starting from Getter Robo, then read Getter Robo G, Getter Robo Go, Shin Getter Robo, then finally Getter Robo Arc. Congrats, you've read it all.
>>21525753But the webms look so cool
>>21525756Those are from Armageddon which you only really appreciate once you have a basic understanding of the characters in their OG form. You can watch Armageddon after doing your Saga reps. Or ignore me and just watch Armageddon, I'm not your boss.
>>21525763Do the mangas/animes not have some sort of summarized OVA? I guess I can just read the manga if it comes to that but seeing mecha in motion always paints a better picture than speedlines on a black and white page.
>>21525767>Do the mangas/animes not have some sort of summarized OVA?Not to my knowledge, the closest you'll get is New Getter Robo but even that's not entirely accurate. There's never been a proper adaptation of the saga which is a shame. If it means anything, the manga does a fantastic job of conveying the motion of getter, particularly in Go.
>>21525808The original Getter Robo getting an anime would’ve been nice, especially after seeing the Getter 1 in Armageddon. That Getter 1 might just be my favorite super robot, they did a fantastic job animating him.
I actually prefer "Getter Emperor" being the Getter-1 starship or a collective term to the big 3 ships, with it never confirming or showing whether they combine into robots (although they probably do). Pic unrelated.
>>21527227...I thought that's exactly what it was? Unless there's some potential alternative that I'm not aware of
>>21527451In Armageddon, they were just three ships; forgot how it was in New; the manga and Arc anime showed it combining. If it was just "Getter has taken a new form for space exploration- no, conquest!" and looked so otherworldly, I feel that would be the scariest for Getter specifically. I like cosmic-sized mechs too, but I also like thinking about the terror that is Getter!

>>21530540>>21536395Yes. Ishikawa worked on Daikessen. Judging by the release dates of the Shin manga, Armageddon, and Daikessen, he'd likely been working on or with all of them at the same time. All three featured one of his Shin Dragon designs, and then all three would feature the Emperor 1 ship at the very least.

>>21544113Ishikawa's manga is one continuity. The Toei Getter and G TV shows are in another continuity. Everything else is standalone but the OVAs borrow a lot of elements from everywhere, including Ishikawa's non-Getter manga
>>21544113If you want light-hearted "three jets combine", then watch Getter Robo and Getter Robo G, if the latter's even subbed. If you want peak Getter where everyone feels psychotic and they're fighting frightening and confusing otherworldly forces and ideas (picrel to your questions: >>21476284) I'd say start with the manga. The general recommendation is to read them in production order (Getter Robo, Getter Robo G, Getter Robo Go, Shin Getter Robo), even though the 4th takes place before the third. There's a few anime that capture the spirit of Getter. People like >>21424290 asked this question in this thread, but I'm worried you might read spoilers, so:>New Getter Robo is self-contained>Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo is self-contained and short>New Getter is a good entry point that's kind of a heavily streamlined version of the entire manga continuity with some other Ishikawa media mixed in>Shin vs Neo is the most straightforward, both Armageddon and New diverge greatly from the source material, which is a good thing since they are telling their own stories.SG vs NG is highly compressed but fewer deviations from the manga. It starts with the end of Getter, skips G, then does a stripped down version of Getter Robo Go.There's also Getter Robo Armageddon that also does its own thing, but some people found it confusing as their introduction. Aside from what was mentioned about Shin vs Neo, New and Armageddon are both doing their own stories but taking a lot of cues and ideas from the manga. Personally I'd either recommend "watching New to get what I'm going into" or "going through the manga and then watching New, so I can catch all the neat references", possibly "Shin vs Neo, I don't mind it spoiling some characters or plotpoints, even though it's mostly doing its own thing, I really want to understand the spirit of Getter in 4 episodes".
>>21544113Manga is your best bet, you'll appreciate what the OVAs borrow and change. If you hate Manga then watch Shin vs Neo Getter, shortest entry and captures the spirit of Getter with only a few deviations. If you hate manga and have a lot of time on your hands watch Toei Getter.
Everybody wanna be a Getter StarFly around the cosmos, seein' Rays on Mars
Do you enjoy the invaders or dinosaur empire as the big bads?
>>21511714This thread is making me wonder if Saint Dragon IS the Anti-Getter. Considering it has seen first hand how hard the Andromeda's fought to destroy it as well as witnessing the destruction Bug brought upon the earth, it's possible it realizes just how dangerous Humanity and Getter's relationship can get and is trying to do something about it by keeping the Human-Getter's on Earth at all cost. I'm thinking it wants to protect humanity as much as Emperor did, but realizes that leaving humanity unchecked is a terrible idea.
>>21563809In TTGL, the suppression of humanity and Spiral to a near-zero state underground by the Anti-Spiral eventually caused an unstoppable rebound. So another, more morbid way to look at this might be that Saint Dragon or whatever Anti-Getter might also be IN on this grand plan themselves, or at least manipulated by Getter Emperor into doing that.
>>21552261Dinosaur empire was kino and a nice product of its time but the invaders led to a lot of the mindfuck content that really makes Getter stick out so I don't know really

>>21575939It was still a big cliffhanger which makes me curious if they intend to make a sequel series as the ending of it it’s just a cliffhanger out of respect to Ishikawa.
>>21575939They go past the new cliffhanger WITHOUT resolving it directly on screen. Just do a time skip and then do another NEW cliff hanger. I really don't get the idea behind it all. It's not really respecting the original work unless that new cliffhanger was from the author's notes or something. They still end the conflict of the original cliffhanger in order to set up the new cliff hanger, we just don't get to see how that was handled at all, just a timeskip past the whole conflict and then a new cliffhanger.
>>21576730>>21576758They probably just didn't know what to do with it and skipped it entirely and made the new cliffhanger in order to set up the potential for a sequel in order to not close the door on potential money
>>21576779Problem is I have no idea if that’s even something they want to do or not. On one hand I can see that they want to not step on Ishikawa’s shoes and make an original ending so they just stopped after the adaptation was finished. On the other hand, why the fuck would you make new anime original content after the manga’s cancellation and not intend to follow that up at some point? You’ve added on to the dead author’s story and then also pissed people off by not even finishing it.I’d love to find some interviews on if the Arc anime will be all there is or not.
>>21576730i believe toei getter and svn are the only non-cliffhanger getter works
Devolution and Armageddon imply a Getter multiverse so if they wanted to give Getter an ending without stepping on Ishikawa’s story then just make a multiverse story with all the Getter Emperor stuff. That way they leave Arc’s story alone and they can just give the franchise an ending.
>>21576823>That way they leave Arc’s story alone and they can just give the franchise an ending. You are like the Getter reactor if instead of Getter Rays it radiated good ideas
>>21576823The other advantage of pushing a multiverse is that SRW has more material to use and rearrange as they like.

The OG Getter manga is way too fast paced for its own good. Ryoma and Hayato change personalities in the blink of an eye, By the point Musashi officially joins the team, they’re already acting like their TV series counterparts, it’s really jarring. Musashi even sings their theme song.
>>21578657Also, did they ever explain who the hell Genki is? He just shows up out of nowhere. Like there was a demand to make it closer to the anime or something.
>>21578657>Ryoma and Hayato change personalities in the blink of an eye, By the point Musashi officially joins the team, they’re already acting like their TV series counterpartsThat isn't true.
>>21578470>the other Vs movie with Great Mazinger & Getter G?U-uh? I watched- ahh there were two. I watched "Great Mazinger vs. Getter Robo G: Kuchu Daigekitotsu", but I did not watch "Great Mazinger vs. Getter Robo" where there was actual rivalry. But Great vs Getter G was the one with the electric barrier kikaiju, presumably Great vs Just Getter didn't have this.
>>21578657Wow. Ryoma/Hayato OG manga has nothing to do with Anime counterparts. You didn't read the manga, didn't watch the anime or, I'm pretty sure, you didn't do any of both. But keep pretending.

>>21580370A common theme is that Musashi/Benkai/Getter 3 pilots face is a sort of need to prove themselves and it's somewhat thematic to have Devolution's "Musashi" fill the shoes of the real Musashi who dies prematurely (another running theme) and struggle with not feeling like he deserves his spot.
