That nerd eventually owned up to his faults and helped the gridman team defeat khan digifer...unlike his hoe from another mother who attempted suicide multiple times, stabbed yuta and nearly doomed the whole cyberworld as a result and got forcibly transformed into a fuckhuge monster by alexis only to saved by a kaiju she created and another version of herself which is ironically narcissistic . The last episode of SSSS.gridman should've been the whole cast taking turns in beating the bitch out of akane till she fucked off to the real world then gridman transforms into his true form and finishes alexis with the fixer beam
>>
>>21288618
I like Takeshi but don't act like he redeemed himself, he was supposed to in Sigma but since that didn't happen he's barley better then Akane.
>>
>>21288632
Akane didn't do much to redeem herself apart from cry and mope to her other self till she gave her a pep talk which made her wake up in the real world. Takeshi despite his fuckups, supported gridman into fighting khan digifer on his computer and helped to erased all of the programs on his computer to stop khan digifer from manifesting into the real world and destroying it which is more useful than anything Akane ever did. Akane is takeshi if he went further off the deep end, got more bitchy and had big tits

Both SSSS series had bad animation, slow pacing, awful music, lackluster characters, and even the action was not that impressive while the 90s classic was peak toku what Ultraman Tiga should have been more like. Also having SSSS in made SRW worse.

Why and how would Tiga have been more similar to Gridman? School kids? More inconsequential episodic stories? Fewer characters with arcs and agency of any kind? I have my doubts you've even seen both, to just arbitrarily connect the two with how different they are. Unless you're just aware Tiga has the consensus of an all time classic in toku, so you see it as some sort of obstacle to Gridman's reputation.

>>
>>21294065
Not that anon, but the original series is better.
What I love about the original is the beautiful backgrounds, great designs, dynamic action sequences, and how the setting itself is so countered by a small slice-of-life town. There’s no Science Patrol teams, no big government plots and connections, just a group of kids living in a small town filled with vibrant people trying to stop someone from destroying it.
An episode in particular I liked was the mid-point where we watch the townsfolk destroying their technology, acting paranoid over every little thing, and the kids questioning if Khan Digifer hadn’t already won just by the effects of his actions. We got to see this other dimension removed from ours effect everyday life simply because of how much the battle raged on. Even outside of the Computer World we got to see a fun and often fast-paced story full of stakes in the human world. Those type of things made it far more unique compared to the standard Not-Ultraman show because the angle was different. I love Ultraman to death, but Gridman is still among my favorite Tokus.

SSSS essentially took away all of that in favor of being a generic Ultraman clone but with vehicles. The school characters were generic shonen-tier kids, the interactions were painfully dull, and even the action just didn’t have the oomf you’d get from Gridman’s suitmation effects. It felt like a Gridman show that wasn’t Gridman until the last episode or two.

> SSSS essentially took away all of that in favor of being a generic Ultraman clone
What Ultraman show is like the SSSS shows? There’s no government plots or agencies there either. In fact they’re just like the shit you mention with kids trying to protect their towns and the focus largely being on their lives. Describing them as Ultraman clones makes no sense to me.

Saying it just a financial success and neglecting others opinion with "things bad because me said so" mentality are just a very hard cope. So why don't you post a things that you consider good here? Don't be insecure.

You never watched Ultraman if you said SSSS was Ultraman clone. The biggest similar aspect the show have to Ultraman was its Giant Hero vs Giant Kaiju concept, which the OG Gridman is no different in this aspect.

Nah, Satelight deserves any shit they get these days, and I say this as a big Macross/Symphogear fag. Outside of those two series everything they've put out over the last 5 or so years has either been really bland or just really bad
>Kuro no Shoukanshi
Isekai shit
>Sakugan
Bad
>Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!
More isekai shit
>Somali and the Forest Spirit
Kinda decent
>Cannon Busters
I really wanted to like this but it was just average.
>For Whom the Alchemist Exists

>Girly Air Force

>Juushinki Pandora
Kawamori wanking off China to please investors

I could go on, but they're a very mid-level studio among the world of anime studios. They're not a bad studio per-se, but they're not doing anything too amazing that makes them stand out like the studios normalfags lap up like Wit Studios or MAPPA. Trigger's shows may be divisive in quality, but at the very least they manage to stand out against the crowd visually due to Imaishi and Amemiya's directoral style/storyboarding. I honestly don't see Satelight ever making a big comeback with the general anime crowd like they had back in the early 2010s with shit like Fairy Tail or Log Horizon or even Mouretsu Pirates. All the good animators that were working on Symphogear left to go join Studio KAI after XV finished production, and everything they've done since then has been Light Novel/manga/game adaptations or contracted work to help out on bigger productions like the most recent Yamato movie. With the recent announcement of a new Symphogear project coming they might have something to look forward to in the next few years, but it's very realistic that they might just get Studio KAI to do it like they did for the phone game's 2nd OP.

Satelight used to be one of my favorite studios, but they're a shadow of their former self at this point.
>>
>>21294494
>and this is exactly what ssss gridman is
They’re full as dirt and not vibrant. They’re generic anime teens instead of feeling like actual people.
>>

And that immediately takes away a cool aspect of Gridman by turning the setting into a generic town just for a twist.

>Sakugan and Pandora were really well made
Honestly I was being a bit harsh on Sakugan before, but it did nothing special other than being about underground miners. Pandora is a fucking pile of trash however and I will repeat this until the heat death of the universe.
>All of them are bigger than most of Trigger's discography by astronomical units.
What do you mean bigger? More popular with anime fans? Because that's completely false. Just going by TV/Films the most recent Trigger productions currently have this many viewers on MAL
>SSSS.Gridman - 272K
>Promare - 252K
>BNA - 328K
>SSSS.Dynazenon - 113K
>Cyberpunk Edgrunners - 377K
And compared to Satelight's TV/Film productions in the same time as from Gridman to now
>Girly Air Force - 74K
>For Whom the Alchemist Exists - 10K
>Symphogear XV - 35K
>Cannon Busters - 37K
>Somali - 264K
>Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! - 201K
>Sakugan - 91K
>Macross Delta 2 Zettai Live - 6K
>Black Summoner - 137K
Asides from two shows the Satelight stuff fails to reach the 100K mark, whereas every Trigger Show there is above 200K asides from Dynazenon (Which is understandable since sequels almost always have lower viewership numbers than their first entries (IE: Symphogear S1 has 111K viewers whereas the season after it only has 56K)). Somali reached high numbers because it was a flash in the pan success due to the premise (Golem dad protecting the little girl) and despite its high viewership numbers a lot of the reviews trash 8th Son saying that the pacing is all over the place.

Again, Satelight's problem right now is that they're pretty much a "For Hire" company at the moment where companies go to them and say "Hey adapt our shitty Isekai LN so we can sell more of it". I know that's true for a bunch of companies, but if all they do is adapt mediocre Light Novels for the next few years they're going to hit rock bottom eventually.
>>
>>21295188
This reminds me of how I'm a little surprised that Trigger's been able to avoid doing anymore LN adaptations for the better part of a decade. Dungeon Meshi will be their first one since When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace in 2014.
>>
>>21295284
Oh shit, I forgot that Dungeon Meshi's not even a LN series, it's a manga. Damn, they really have been able to completely avoid doing any others since 2014.

And like I said earlier, Symphogear and Macross have been the only things keeping Satelight afloat while everything else they've been putting out has been completely forgettable schlock. And even then, Symphogear might make the jump to Studio KAI with the new project since most of the staff moved there. If you really want to go by Japanese disc sales we can do that too.
>SSSS.Gridman - 9363 average
>Promare - 59,433
>BNA - 436
>SSSS.Dynazenon - 3655 average

>Girly Airforce - 594 average
>For Whom the Alchemist Exists - 1115
>Symphogear XV - 18,704 average
>Cannon Busters - No data
>Somali to Mori no Kamisama - 215 average
>Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou! - 808 average
>Sakugan - No data
>Zettai Live - 43,137

I won't pretend that BNA didn't bomb hard, but the fact remains that Macross and Symphogear, two franchise that they don't even really own (Macross via Big West, Symphogear via King Records), are the only successful things keeping Satelight around while every other production they do barely goes above triple digits in disc sales.

M8 did you even read my post or the one I was replying to? The guy I'm replying to said "Satelight stuff is bigger than Trigger stuff" and I provided numbers to show he was wrong. I didn't go into any details saying "This is good this is bad" in that post (I did that in the first post, where I talk about how Satelight's actually good shows are the only thing that happen to do well). I don't think Brand New Animal isn't Trigger's worst show (Well, second worst. Kiznaiver still exists) just because 328,000 people on MyAnimeList said they watched it, same as how I also don't think Symphogear XV is godawful because only 35K people said they watched it.

I don't get why I have to keep repeating my point here, but outside of two big franchises that they don't even own Satelight's anime production has been garbage for at least the last 5 years and deserves to get any flak thrown their way. Trigger may be a mixed bag of quality but at least they put out more hits than misses, whereas Satelight is more misses than hits.

Symphogear is even more undeserving of its popularity than any Trigger anime. It literally only sold well because of concert ticket raffles, yet big number worshipper from /a/ thinks that equals quality.
Like, what's even so good about it? It stops syncing battle with music starting from the third season. Every character arc is just the previous arc recycled over and over, hell, even the main plot is literally the same every single time.

SSSS.Dynazenon takes place in May, 2020 while SSSS. Gridman takes place in 2018 (I don't remember if this was shown in the anime but Amemiya's web novel took place in 2017 and it happened before the show).
Although these are two different worlds so maybe it doesn't mean anything.
Then again, time travel exists in Denkou Choujin Gridman.

>>
>>21298189
I've only seen Gridman, what did you dislike about Dynaznon?
>>
>>21298455
Everything. I'll say this much though. Both shows had a bland main cast. But Gridman had actually interesting villains, a series long mystery, better fights with more varied kaiju designs, and an explosive finale. Dynazenon lacked those things, or did them worse. It's like eating a restaurant pizza (Gridman), and then eating a frozen pizza (Dynazenon) the next day. Sure both are similar, but one is worse in every aspect.
>>
>>21298455
Dynazenon actually had better characters and more interesting monster of the weeks. The writer from tsuburaya just can't handle writing a 12 episode anime. Hopefully this one is better paced because it's a movie.

>>

I'm not a sperg. I sincerely don't see how such a dull, nothing of a show like Dynazenon, got such a positive response. It doesn't make sense. It's literally a downgrade of a sequel.
>>
>>21299893
>Yume is that basic bitch archetype
A basic bitch would never voluntarily jump into the fucking robot to protect people, being more serious about piloting than her future boyfriend. A basic bitch won't find creative uses for her mecha unit on top of it, abusing the everliving shit out of it to fly around the city. The fact she's a massive standout and weirdo makes it physically impossible to classify her as one. She is a surprisingly unique female lead as far as /m/ stuff goes and literally an anti-Okada character in several regards.

If Gauma really has become Dynazenon, does he control all of the mechs individually? How can he do that when they aren't combined? What's the point of having a crew to pilot it if he can?
>>
>>21302202
I wouldn't think he'd be able to control his components once separated, but who's to say?

Though there's a stark difference between being able to do something, and doing it effectively. Remember, Gauma could already pilot Dynazenon by himself, but he still needed others for optimal performance.

If anything, it probably works like it did in Big O or any other series where the mecha has a will of its own: it happens, but it's much too taxing to be exerted under anything but the most dire circumstances.

I didn't see it. Where is the better writing? What was better written? Nothing happening? Sorry, but I just can't get over how big of a downgrade there is between the original and the sequel. Both series had bland good guys. I didn't really care about the good guys in either show, but at least the villain trio in Gridman was fun. The villains in Dyna are bland as all hell. The kaiju fights are less dynamic and kinda all the same. There was no overarching plot or mystery, and what little mystery there was, was left unanswered. Gridman just set the bar too high. The entire finale was absolutely amazing. The biggest "fuck yeah" moment of the year. I went into the sequel, expecting a good time like that, and instead I got a bland, uninteresting and cookie-cutter show, that failed to reach the high points of the previous season.
