so, it seems like I have found a nasty little rabbithole with korean mecha shit, or mecha like stuff, anything else some anons here know about it, nobody outside of korea really talks about itStarting out with one of the only ones that has a wiki but will post more obscure in thread itself
>>20900152
>>20900152>>20900153
>>20900152>>20900153>>20900155Hopefully this will be enough to start, others can supply their own stuff while I will occasionally drop other not posted ones here
This stuff is pretty well documented and there was a long thread on it recently.
>>20900225Yeah, it’s rather hard to fully get into without one or more guys extremely into vintage Korean cinema or home media stuff, I have a very good one but it’s extremely hard to go through stuff via just google, there’s this one very good Korean site for this stuff, it’s still not fully effective unfortunately>>20900229Link? Just curious how much has been currently found
>>20900236Check the archive? This board is so slow it's probably still there, someone even posted a couple of translations from a Korean book.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOIJSiMyp9MAccording to Wikipedia Harmony Gold of all companies had the rights to it at some point, but just never did anything with it.
>>20901237>26Of course>>20900472Going to search Korea or something through there then
good way to find a bunch of lolROK that you haven't seen yet is to find the hangul for something easy to grab like Space Gundam V and then go through suggested youtube linksI don't recall that it has robots at any point but it has nuclear explosions and Master Roshi so who the fuck knows, but ROK Street Fighter II live action is amazingOur Friend Power 5 even has Eng subs, that's got that Machine Robo/Gobots powered suits you'd stick the 3.5"ers into and gattai them, and some TMNT content.there used to be a good Japanese site "nanda korea" but they've been dead for a while last I checked
>>20900225I want to see wikia anon attempt deep analytical articles on the robots.
>korean anything
>>20901579I'm about to make a Danguard Ace page and there is a backlog, that said I'm not against the idea. I just need an extra pair of hands or two.
>>20901598May I ask what the backlog consists of, please?
I kinda don't want to see Korean stuff for a while After what they did to the Breaker but i feel like this thread would have interesting stuffs
>>20901579Nothing is on any wikia is analytical.
>>20901692ID-0, Vandread, Nobunaga The Fool, Mospeada, the two Tetsujin shows without English translations, E7 Hi-Evolution, those Code Geass movies, just head to my talk page for the in depth stuff, for now let's talk about robots from the half of Korea not rules over by a big cheese ball.
https://archive.org/details/koranime-filmVarious movies + extras Mostly webrips with some dvdrips in varying quality and languages. Not mine just posting a link
If you want to have night terrors there’s a short series where a kid uses stock footage from Tokusatsu and morphs into an unsettling rubber Gundam F91. There’s several episodes. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jUhX4hpwC20
Bump with Korean Ultraman
>>20900236I saw this when an Italian mecha fan uploaded the whole thing on youtube, it was fucking awful. It’s better off just watching the original show
>>20900472Typing "mmecha Korean list" into Google got me results.
>>20910264Is it one of those ones where it's live action footage with Filmation-tier animation spliced in in place of practical effects?
>>20901590At least Korean humor is good.https://youtu.be/7mT5x8kt3Gs>>20900153And now I know what this video was a parody of https://youtu.be/_Q9zha5Ebtw
Graveyard bump
>nasty rabbit holeThere is a lot of intricate history to SK anime in general, especially the fact that they made a lot of these shows during a nationwide ban on JP media. Lots of Korean animators in the mid to late 1980s worked at AIC and tons of other studios. I could go on all day, I'm autistic about it
Original poster for Space Black Knight (우주 흑기사 / Uju Heukgisa) which used real settei from 0079 to animate from, its pretty faithful at times and reminds me a lot of what Gunboy could have been.
Original poster for Super Mazinga 7, or Super Teukgeup Mazinger 7 (슈퍼특급 마징가 7), aka Protectors of Universe when Joseph Lai bought the distribution rights for these TV films. Some of them were shown in theaters, but many were TV programs. This one borrows from a lot of sources, but mainly has some unique Tatsunoko themed design choices. It was animated in 83' by one of the animators who worked on the Transformers TV show in 84' and then the film in 86'.
Space Black Knight also had a long running manhua and even Roman-like settei booklets just like what Tokuma Shoten produced in the late 70s - 1990s. This is a page from the manhua; I have seen it sold on websites, but import taxes make it hard to get where I am.
>>20913128>space black knight comics hahaha holy shit
A lot of these TV specials and films were made to promote plamo mainly. The only film I can think of from this era that was made before this was an option had to have been Taekwon V, which eventually got plamo etc. Its still such a major cornerstone of SK media til this day and there's giant statues of the robot in major parts of Seoul. Go Nagai even loves it and found it unique in how it re-imagined aspects of Mazinger.
>>20913134Its real and was a pretty big deal when it debuted and is still famous culturally til this day. On a side note, most of these films I'd like to note were produced, funded, and animated by Seung-cheol Park (Transformers animator) who adored anime. He is also a major fan of Yas' work and Three Iron Musketeers (Iron Trio/철인삼총사) is a direct homage to Crusher Joe in so many ways. You can watch the print here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3WG9tm1Tzqw
4K scan of Phoenix Bot Phoenix King's poster
>>20913141neat
I grabbed this from a SK blogger ages ago (not my photo), but an example of the plamo produced. Each TV special and film had its own plamo, uniquely made by a brand called Academy usually. Academy would make some 0079 figures too, but I have only ever seen one of Matilda Ajan floating about. This one is made by another company, but they are extremely rare to come across.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6MyH7QPzt4Some "important" highlights of Korean animation and the years it was released, many of which are SF and mecha titles.
>>20913149so does the kit inside actually look like the particular Daiclone or is it just some random robot?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-LgArAZdbEThis LP goes for at least $200 these days on Discogs. Many of these series also had their own LPs just like any other JP media of the era.
>>20913164
>>20913167interesting if even for antsis that just the Diaclone toy on trees? original mold? maybe there was some plamo Daiclone to lift?
>>20913172Looks just like the figure on the box.
More Space Black Knight materials. I have more and am sourcing books to scan in these days, but this is all I got on my PC. In other news, I'll be scanning the Cucuruz settei books when they arrive - stay p0asted.
>>20913108Actually Korea had access to anime before they even had color TV, they just had to exploit loopholes to get it through. If I recall correctly, they were able to get Mazinger Z through by lying about it being an American cartoon.
>>20911070No it’s fully animated, very cheaply though. What makes this one especially bad is that they aren’t even hiding the fact that it’s just grendizer but weaker and ends up jobbing (the support aircraft save the day and are present at the end screen). Also it’s outright plagiarism for using an unaltered grendizer COMPLETE with its double harkan technique
>>20913180Nice work, Kankoku-no-aikousha.
>>20913135Being TV specials would help to explain the palpably low production values, I certainly would be pissed off to pay full ticket price to see something like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMBzUwO2WeI or other Joseph Lai schlock. Now I'm interested to know what time of day these specials aired and how they were promoted before airing. >>20913754A lot of Nintendo and Sega stuff there used American localizations as a base because they already had the Japanese influence scrubbed off.
>>20916779Don't say it again.
>>20913754I feel like there are quite a huge numbers of mechafags in Korea, Veritas kinda implied this
>>20910124I went to look it up on jewtube and seems its more of a Mirrorman ripoff
>>20901590Agreed
>>20919126Wish we had more Korean subbers for stuff like it, also VHS needs to get a cleaner and more pixel having rip than current 360/240p version, we have had a 480p intro section but that’s about all
Another Korean Bump
>>20918667Mecha is popular in Asia as a whole. I swear half the cartoons on Chinese TV are some flavor of Transformers copycat.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTK2u3SaaYwThese movies aren't so bad when they're not being dubbed by cheapest studios in Hong Kong.
>>20924862Just it’s hard to find subs for em
>>20927953Any release date?
Bump
>>20913165pretty catchy song
I know the dub was lost, but does Soul Frame Lazenca have any subs available?
>>20930032It’s been 5 years, either it’s been put on ice or outright canceled which is a shame

Bump from the dead
>>20908053So Kamen Rider Ex-Aid was Korean all along.
>>20908053I feel like they must have imported that costume from a convention and painted over it.
>>20945083The show is full of other blatant copies of known properties like the two DBZ soldiers he fights so they probably made that Gundam themselves. I doubt even Sunrise or Bandai made an SD F91 for promotion.
>>20908053/m/asterpiece.
>>20913754There were a few that got in but the majority of it was from the 60s and early 70s so there was no statute of limitation for them to show it. Most of the mid 70s til the 90s stuff is original.
>>20953065Amuro was Char this whole time?
What mech that he would pilot ?
>>20900152K-Pop /m/ when?

>>20994572They are bootlegs but good bootlegs as if hasbro had the rights to other mech rights than diaclone and made them into transformers , prety good redesigns and recolors i guess
>>20939897Dumb his kinda THICC though :-O :-O :-O
>>20901449Is that Mazinbungle?
>>20900152A bunch of rare Korean model kits

>>21016731
>>21016688What site is this on?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu3jFv_jt9o The K-Decker situation is even funnier nowadays after a bunch of Solo Levelling faggots whine about localization
>>21016798You mean K-Cup.
>>21045366King Squasher Gundam, did not expect NG Knight Lamune to get a bootleg toy.
Is this the full list of pre-media ban bootleg mecha anime movies to come out of South Korea? If not then what's missing?
>>21045494Are any of these decent?
