It's not mainstream popular and normalfags won't ever appreciate it, but it's a loving tribute to Getter Robo and super robot shows with a lot of passion in it by a staff who made some real classics, I think you guys would like it. It has underrated hidden /m/ gem written all over it.

It dragged a bit and had one two many underwhelming monster of the week episodes, but overall I thought it was a worthwhile watch.
It's one of those shows that came out after eva so it has that weird experimental approach to mecha, but what it ends up doing is so different from eva in many ways.
If you ever have the time check it out.
It also has some amazingly refreshing mecha deisgn.

Yeah, those things are so cool.
The show has a nice batch of starting episodes, but it drags a bit till the last 10 or so episodes.

It had a great OP and ED though.

I've never seen anybody talk about this before and for a few good reasons: The animation is complete shit even for the 70s and the story drags on for 40 episodes. Back in it's day it was always facing low ratings and cancellation, so I'm surprised it even lasted that many.

tbdesu Giant Robo live action seems pretty untouched despite being on hyperUHF

Flaming Ears is amazingly obscure but that's more cyberhyperfuture than /m/ per se
Kishin Corps remains remarkably unknown despite having a literal Nazi robot with a literal Swasticannon
Hiwou is similarly "semi-historical and pretty fun but completely forgotten despite official R1 dvds"

Argento Soma is not *that* obscure. Not here, at least.
The only gripe I have with it is the lack of diversity on the alien designs, considering the main giant is made out of different parts stitched together. It could have been great seeing different invaders and making out which part is which in Frank. A good show, nevertheless.

On the one hand, this outs me as a relentless pervert. On the other it's kind of adorable, like someone saw Escaflowne and said "Hold my fucking beer, I can do this shit with a happy ending AND still piss off the fans". Monster and mecha design is pretty good, characters are fun, not a lot of filler, and despite losing the movie it's still a good watch.
got trannies innit, though. Sort of. It's complicated and involves Richard O'Brien merging his consciousness with Cher for some fucking reason.

Good man. Second. As in, that was the second show I watched as an adult who knew what "mecha" were - fansubbed Macross, Ninja Scroll, Nuku Nuku, and then straight into F3. Which was a fucking RIDE.

Also, until the re-release I'd put "Roujin Z" down as pretty goddamned obscure. Aired twice on the SF channel and then sold something like 5k copies in the States in the first three years of the release. Shame really, its a nice little cyberpunk story.

It's a co-production with a Korean CG studio helmed by the guys responsible for Mars of Destruction. Despite being easily their most competent work, telling a rather generic sci-fi story about a boy coming of age to the backdrop of war between two morally gray factions, I'd give it a 4/10. With an OP from LEGOLGEL and an ED song from ani/m/e song legend Mizuki Nana you'll kind of look forward to at least three minutes of every episode.

The white whale flies, fires lasers, has telepathy, and at least one pocket-dimension inside of it's body.

I like how the subs gave the characters random new English names.

Just because you're newfags doesn't make something obscure

Nothing in this thread or the other two is particularly obscure.

ADV dub was better. Shame Netflix had to butcher it, as per usual.

Everything "aired" somewhere at some point, doesnt mean it cant become obscure even though it was on tv once like 20 years ago and thats it.

It's not the most obscure stuff but in decade spent here I've rarely heard about it.
>>

That's the thing. Add another and it was still relevant.
>>
>>20962768
I've been here at 15years, I can't imagine it was that relevant or it would still get occasional thread.

Here you go for something even more obscure. Schizo-Alien magical-girl in a futuristic world.
