>>20845425So what are the initial reviews like for Shin Ultraman?
>>20845556Just scroll up jap twitter for general consensus.
>>20845556Positive, but don’t expect Shin Godzilla. Anno respects Ultraman as a cultural icon too much to make it his own. It’s a tribute, not a reinterpretation.

Shin Ultra Fight today too right?
>>20845666The first one, no. But the second one is exactly the scenario they used in the movie.

>>20845897"*Shin* Ultraseven". Typo.
>>20845897So we should probably expect Shin Ultraman 2 in 2024 once he's done with Shin Kamen Rider then Shin Ultraseven (extremely based btw) in 2025
I'm glad the movie is out but it just makes me all the more impatient about home media/English-subbed release.
>>20845911So Zarab, Mefilas, and Zoffy + Zetton are all happening in this one movie, that seems like a lot
>>20845914I hope that they do a subbed theatrical release like they did with Shin Godzilla
>>20845915Shin Mefilas looks so damn slick and sexy. I want them to make SHF of him.
>>20845897So if Zetton is in the first movie and Ultraseven is the final movie in the trilogy, what the heck are they going to do for the second movie? Baltans?

>>20845966Dark Blue because he's EVIL!
Probably a bad time to ask, but I am looking for a specific version of the Ultraman 80 theme and was wondering if anybody knows this version. It was in a MAD back in 2007 back during his guest star appearance on Ultraman Mebius and this version had the singer in a more melancholy or slower tone and no echos. I thought it was in the 21st Century remakes, but it's not.

>>20846111I will take it as hint. Shin 3 is Man and Seven vs Godzilla
Also finished watching the Shin movie.I really enjoyed it, but agree that its more fanservice heavy and aimed at older fans. I loved zarab, he appears in a trenchcoat and hat and looks small and non threatening at first. But when he captures shin, hes tall and menacing. Mefilas is introudced when Asami becomes giant, a throwback to the original episode. Mefilas fight was great too, cgi was a little bit cheesy at times but the music was very epic. Zoffy appears in the background of mefilas fight and mefilas gives up and leaves. He nearly beat shin too. Zoffy releasing the zetton protocol fucked me up, I was wondering why he was being a complete dick. Zetton is basically a giant orbital cannon. It destroys shin, sending him into the ocean but he survives. The SSSP figure out a method to use the beta box to increase Ultramans size by double. He uses the red ball to smash the cannons energy ball, creating a massive black hole that sucks Ultraman in.The Zoffy and Man scene from the original show is recreated here, You really loved humans didnt you ultraman.Kaminaga is brought back to earth.I liked it but yeah I would say Shin Godzilla felt a bit more solid.0/10 no baltan cameo

>>20846122Sounds really fun. Is Kaminaga loses his memory too like Hayata or nah? Also is ShinMan dead or no by the end of movie?

From what I read on twitter, there are lot of old people watching Shin Ultraman
>>20846493deepl translationMy impression of Shin UltramanUnlike "Shin Godzilla," this film pursues entertainment and fantasy rather than message and reality (although it does contain some reality).Unlike Shin Godzilla, which the type that would be well received by critics, this film is the type that should be well received by the masses. The CG is pretty bad (especially the last boss), but it's fun to watch, so I don't mind it.The tempo is so fast that it feels like a digest, but it is packed with a lot of elements, and the story is more about enjoying the festive atmosphere than the story itself. The film has many scenes where you can feel Anno-ism in the visuals (but I felt it was not as strong as in Shin Godzilla).A movie by fans for fans. But you don't have to know Ultraman to enjoy it.I think it should have been released during GW, because it is not a "watch and grow wiser" type of movie, but a "watch and have fun" type of movie.Anyway, it was a fun movie.
>>20846447>Beth's letter formed with her tits
Did they say ShinMan being a veteran or some profession in the movie?
Gathered some details info about Shin Ultraman from the nips.-The movie starts with similar style to the OG intro. "Ultra Q" title logo bursts into "Ultraman" title logo. But here, its "Shin Godzilla" into "Shin Ultraman". There are also bunch of Ultra Q kaijus at the start of the movie, and SSSP is pretty proficient at handling them. -Shin Ultraman didn't have color when he showed up for the first time. Its only become red once he fused with the MC. The color pattern is also functioned as the color timer here. It turns green when Ultraman weakened. Ultraman face also changes over time. From A type, to B type, and finally C type. Some people might've missed this details.-The plot about Shin Zoffy & Zetton was inspired by the misinformation about Evil Zoffy who controlled Zetton back then. The confusion was created after a company trying to publish an Ultra Monster Encyclopedia earlier than everyone else. In this book there's an illustration of Zoffy, but with description of Alien Zetton (not normal Zetton). Zoffy Japanese name was also different in here. Instead of "ゾフィー", its "ゾーフィ" and Shin Zoffy name now is actually used the latter spelling. The color black on Shin Zoffy was taken directly from the one-color illustration from that book, and the Gold is from the color of its paper which is pretty yellow-ish.
>>20846561-However Shin Zoffy is not truly evil, and actually really caring of Shin Ultraman. He just doesn't understand human. -Shin Ultraman's original mission is actually to just monitor Earth, not directly protecting it from Kaijus attack. He, however, have a growing affection for the planet and feels more attached as the time goes. As the Kaiju become too strong over times for the SSSP to handle, Shin Ultraman finally decided to helps them.-This put worries to Shin Zoffy and as he believes that the reason all the chaos that happened in the planet is deeply rooted in humanity and will become a bigger threat if leave alone, he unleashed Zetton to deals with them. -With how Shin Zoffy, who at first, really despises human slowly began to realize, after seeing them fights with and even directly powering up Shin Ultraman, that they might be not all bad, that there's a genuine hope among them, and that he finally understand as to why Shin Ultraman loves them so much. Anno picked this storyline to put more emphasize on the line "そんなに人間が好きになったのか、ウルトラマン" / "Ultraman, you truly have grown to love earthling" from the final episode, which also become the tagline in the initial poster.-The main tagline in the final poster which is "空想と浪漫. そして、友情." / "Fantasy, romance, & friendship" represent the main themes of this movie. "Fantasy" for what Ultraman truly is, " 空想特撮シリーズ" / "A Special-Effect Fantasy Series". "Romance" for Ultraman's feelings toward human. And "Friendship" for Human's trust to Ultraman.

>>20846561Anno is such a nerd holy fuck
>>20846645Anno LOVES tokusatsu. He has unparalleled levels of passion and respect for the genre.
>>20846291Yup, thank you anon!
>>20846603>>20846655Anno is referencing how the anime industry, much like his characters, have been left in a state of prepubescence and not allowed to grow up, due to the fanbase not getting over it's own issues, or developing past a certain point. Anno understands the Japanese national attraction to characters like Rei as the product of a stunted imaginative landscape borne of Japan's defeat in the Second World War. Japan lost the war to the Americans. Since that time, the education we received is not one that creates adults. Even for us, people in their 40s, and for the generation older than me, in their 50s and 60s, there's no reasonable model of what an adult should be like. That's the whole message of Eva, to turn off your TV and go outside, meet new people, it's better to risk getting hurt than to be locked up inside yourself. Thinking about it, subtly introducing your critique against Otaku into a giant robot show seems bizarre when you could express directly by writing a book about the subject. But there is also the fact that Anno has shown to be an eccentric man with a history of depression-which almost led him to end his life-but in the end managed to triumph over it. It is clear this man values anime, but deeply disapproves of the "otaku" culture that comes with; mainly in the aspects of shunning the harshness reality and people in favor of the comfort zone provided by anime. It's understandable that the man would try to approach the otaku through the medium they most relate to, but you have to wonder if the possibility of being misunderstood by the public ever went through his mind. The issue is that Eva has always wanted to be 2deep4nips, so the addition of a blatantly shitty, shallow character solely there for merchandising is quite jarring. The fact that some people claim that because Anno hates otaku she's automatically a satire is just dumbfuck icing on the retard cake.
>>20846561>>20846563The fact that people liked rebuild 2 is why he made them scrap everything and make 3 a huge fucking mess. Anno hates Otaku culture. Evangelion was supposed to show how fucked up it is, but it just created one of the biggest flagships for Otakus ever. He wrote Rei and Asuka to deconstruct the shy cute girl and the rude flirty girl(moe and tsundere). Then the fans made them their waifus. So now he's going to deconstruct Rei and Asuka to keep the upper hand against Japan's grass-eating otaku generation. Everyone who thinks they're hot shit tries to act like Evangelion is some kind of meta story about how Anno hates Otaku culture and how evil escapist media is, and they've always been wrong. The dude is an otaku himself, and unabashedly so. Just because he put fan mail stills in EoE (It wasn't a bunch of hatemail, it was mostly fan mail saying they were excited for EoE and ONE picture of vandal spraypaint on their office), everyone who tries to look big brained thinks Evangelion is a series meant to talk shit to Otaku. Shinji's masturbation gets interpreted as calling Otaku trash for jerking off to Asuka doujin, then when the Rebuilds lean hard into fanservice that panders to Otaku in spite of that take, fuckers like that have to twist and twist their takes to make Mari and Asuka panty shots into a multi-layered metacommentary on how disgusting Otaku don't like women. It's insanity, has no real supporting evidence in the work itself, and all people do to justify these theories since EoE was released is act like Anno is acting like a Miyazaki shitpost made manifest. He went from doing godzilla to ultraman. He's living out his childhood fantasies. This dude is crazy and obsessed. He doesn't have an anti Otaku message, he's encouraging Otaku and showing them they don't need to be lonely and isolated. That's all.
Ultra Eva Unit
>>20846561Anno got handed Ultraman and Kamen Rider on a golden platter after mostly everyone enjoyed Shin Godzilla. Anno is a big Ultraman fanboy, and Ultraman uses a lot of Christian imagery because the creator of the franchise Eiji Tsuburaya was a very devout Catholic and saw the original Ultraman and Ultraseven as "Christ-like" figures. Anno got handed Ultraman and Kamen Rider on a golden platter after mostly everyone enjoyed Shin Godzilla. But, the 2nd half of Eva is Anno being depressed because people talked shit about his Ultraman rip-off on the internet. just because he wanted to redraw some Ultraman images is such a laughable reasoning that you can't take it seriously unless you intentionally choose such explanations to pretend you "get it", and there is nothing more to get. That is what Anno does best: look at systems and play around with them nd their function. ANd in general, his work often takes the core of concepts from the old Godzilla, Ultraman, Rider, etc. and makes them affect us now how the old properties would ideally affect us back them. Shin Godzilla was to make a movie that felt as big and loaded as the 54 film must have. Ultraman, dealing with a patrol team that investigates surreal and trippy phenomena and the truly alien, would be expanded upon thusly. I wouldn't be surprised if Anno makes the SSSP more like NERV and the SCP shit (but less tropey I'd hope lmao). For all we know, his Ultraman isn't from our plane of existence. Ultraman, could be from another dimension, or space between universes, or something else that's high concept. As someone who has met Higuchi, however, and seeing as he's the film's director, I'd wager it will be more close to the brand of Ultraman, but still play to Anno's strengths from his screenplay.
>>20846561https://trendnews.yahoo.co.jp/archives/445177/>I: Is there anywhere that you reference "Ultraman" in your work? There is a school of thought that points out the influence of Ultraman on Evangelion.>A: I have never consciously cited it. However, because Ultraman is perfect as a format, when you try to make something interesting there are things that happen regardless of whether you are conscious or not. Even if you say "a huge thing that acts like a person, not a robot" when ordering to an animator, you will be asked "What is that?" As a common language, "like Ultraman" I have always said that. I didn't even notice myself until my friend who saw the story of Eva told me, "Is that Ultraman dressed as a robot?" Eva makes a lot more sense when you look at it as just Anno's homage to old mecha/Ultraman that has some good messages about how escapism can be unhealthy, don't run away from your problems, etc. Doesn't take away from it being a great show though mind you. For Anno this is the difference between the fake world of anime with which he had become obsessed and the real world of actual women/real life that he actually lived with. Eva in general is about that fear of reaching out, of getting close to others, of getting your hands dirty, which is written out explicitly with the Hedgehog Dilemma. Asuka in that sense is not just a stand-in for real women but also a stand-in for real life, which usually does not go smoothly and clearly like a movie, but has unexpected problems and viciousness. Like many classic stories, the woman is not just a woman but also an idea. Is the Tokusatsu segment Anno's way to flex for his Shin Ultraman?
What's the date for Shin Ultra Fight anyway? I actually really got curious about this one.

>>20846672>Eva makes a lot more sense when you look at it as just Anno's homage to old mecha/UltramanEspecially when you watch the old Ultraman-themed interview he did with Akiko Fuji, where he states that, if he were to make an Ultraman-show, he'd center it around the EDF handling different problems.>"Yeah, I want to run the organization through all kind of different situations."I realized at that point, that Nerv is literally just Anno doing exactly that.
>>20846688That's kinda what I was expecting out of ShinMan but it seems he got most of that put his system in Eva, at least from what we've heard
>>20846687pretty nice repaint. but i wish we could see this one again. especially now since there's melos in ugf.
>>20846111It's definitely a homage to how Ultra Q changes into Ultraman
>>20846561>>20846563Anno really went wild with Shin Ultraman, the Zoffy stuff in particular sounds absolutely kino
>>20845902Huh, they literally reused Neronga's spine and Gabora's head to make Pagos. I mean, I get the whole Baragon shared body reference, but it looks like an afterthought, to be honest.
>>20846750It's definitely on purpose, I mean just look at Gomess
>>20846111>the first kaiju to appear is shin godzilla with hornsIt's a reference to how Gomess' suit was just a reused Godzilla suit with horns.Shin Gomess is just a reused Shin Godzilla with horns
>>20846751Wait, so is he saying he wants to make a Shin ultraman sequel right away but Eva dragged him back?
>>20846755Curse of Eva
>>20846755No. Okada Toshio ruined his mood and the plan for a sequel is now up in the air.
>>20846764Who's he and what's the problem? Qrd pureasu.
>>20846768I still don't see his beef with Anno
>>20846768Don’t see anything, and he hasn’t been part of khara either or even gain a in ages so I don’t see why old blood would do that, don’t look back at Eva and keep going with ultraman
You know, with a new challenge for episode 4 of TDC, I got a feeling the Ultra that will die based on the theme of the series is not gonna be Regulos... It's gonna be Reiga, as in all of the New Gen Heroes before Z will die by Tartaros's hands, and just end there with the female Absolutian revealing herself at the very end. Worse, all the New Gen Heroes will remain dead throughout the entire next sequel until after New Gen Gaia.

>>20846766Sine the other anon is being vague and lazy:Okada is one of the founders of Gainax alongside Anno. After Gainax fell to shit and many people broke off (initially to form Khara, then later we got Trigger - both of whom are friendly with each other and dislike Gainax), they were entering financial woes. Okada wrote an "expose" claiming it was all Anno's fault despite Okada notoriously wasting a lot of money and failing to fund projects. Caused a huge snafu that got Anno in a lot of unnecessary trouble while he was Tomino-ing his way through three (Possibly four) different major film projects.
>>20846683The first two are out tomorrow, supposedly. Hoping they get ripped.
>>20846790Damn that's real sucks.

>>20846805archive anon posted it earlier. just scroll up a little bit.
>>20846561>>20846563This sounds like a fantastic Ultraman remake/movie. I'm glad Anno didn't write a complicated spin on these same themes because he already did that with Evangelion.
>>20846790Shin ultraman is still gonna be a success and shin kamen rider is coming out next year which is also guaranteed to be a major hit, sounds like okada is jealous that anno is actually succeeding in his dream projects and is attempting to undermine that confidence away from him
>>20846866I agree, when I say Tomino-ing I mean putting an unhealthy amount of passionate work into all of the projects. Last thing he needed was to be slandered in the middle of all that and get caught up in a retarded media campaign.
>>20846870Don’t think it’ll work though, we’ll probably still get the sequel regardless that is when it’ll happen

>>20846877>ripsI hope so. This is the closest thing we'll get to the movie itself for awhile.

>>20847326No, he literally did a black and gold Ultraman for Ultraman Great concept art.>>20847293This looks OK, but not great, sorry. I just can't get behind this pure CGI, at least there is practicality to Shin Kamen Rider.
>>20847326>>20847367A concept design for Ultraman Great
>>20847367I think CG was the right call, but they probably should've focused on a few choice assets instead of making the film so busy. I worry about Shin Kamen Rider trying to do too much too, but not in the same way.I think I'm still going to love the film, but I'm a little disappointed with the lack of restraint.
>>20847372>for Ultraman GreatIs there a source for that? The title of the collection of pieces in the artbook is Next (ネクスト), and only one of them have the Ultraman-like pattern
>>20847293Really dig green Ultraman.
>>20847293Ultraman turning green to show low energy as opposed to having a traditional color timer is a weird choice.
>>20847329You guys weren't kidding when saying Zetton is angel from Eva
>>20847406It's a cool as fuck choice.
>>20847406its genius actually. i don't think there ever was an ultra with a color changing suit that acted like its color timer, they would only reserve suit color changing for form changes.
the color change as the color timer is cool, it doesnt add to the tension much in that fight because by the time it happens, he deals the final blow. but im sure the rest of the movie sets up the context better
>>20847293>>20847398>>20847406>>20847419>>20847422I honestly thought Shin not having a color timer would mean that after Kaminaga transforms, he wouldn't be able to turn back, so Ultraman would only be an absolute last resort, and who knows, that may well have been an idea early in development, but Tsuburaya might have said "No, he has to have a time limit"

Shin Ultraman opened at the top of the box office with 293 million yen on its debut day, exceeding about 130% of Shin Godzilla box office. The movie receiving a rave review and is off a good start, aiming to eventually surpass a billion yen.

>>20847386I want to know at what point in the mythos did TsuPro decide Ultras should wear clothes
>>20847503>293 million yen on its debut dayUltrabros what the fuck is happening?
>>20847503"*5* billion yen", ftfy anon. Its beating Shin Godzilla box office, but the final forecast is lower than Shin Godzilla. Mainly due to the fact Godzilla as a franchise have a bigger fame, it was also because Shin Godzilla was released during the summer vacation season, so they had a more ambitious expectation with it. Here's hoping Shin Ultraman to breaks the expectation bar even further, so they could possibly get a budget upgrade for the sequel.
>>20847523Anno bucks baby.Get ready for 2 Ultra sequels, Shin Rider Trilogy and Shin Godzilla 2.

>>20847613Patience, m'boy. I can't hold on much longer.
>>20847613sent. check your mail.
>>20847524Don't forget how it's riding on Shin Godzilla's coattails. Go look up the threads we had on /m/ when the movie first opened, we had people uploading photos of cinemas that were empty. The movie only caught on after a few days via word of mouth. Shin Ultraman has full theatres from day one because of Shin Godzilla's reputation.
>>20847593He never wanted to save Eva. The ending to Rebuild was literally him going "move the fuck on with your lives already."
>>20847682Then why did people instantly forget Shin Godzilla and flock to Shin Ultraman instantly?
>>20847682Its all under Anno's Shin coattails. I don't get why you feel the need to post such obvious fact like that.
>>20847719How are people forgetting Shin Godzilla?
>>20847724Cause I forgot it existed until you brought it up.
>>20847722>I don't get why you feel the need to post such obvious fact like that.Doesn't seem obvious to people like >>20847719
>>20847722Before Shin Godzilla came out Eva had been practically dead due 3.0 and then a decade of nothing. Only otaku were interested in Shin Godzilla and Anno. But critics loved it and word of mouth turned it into a social and cultural phenomenon. Shin Ultraman is only doing this well because of that foundation, but retards like >>20847719are acting like it's doing better than Godzilla because Ultraman is better than Godzilla. And it's not because of Anno himself either, because Shin Godzilla is what made the general public interested in him in the first place given how dead Eva was at that point.
You say it's riding Shin Godzilla's coat tails. But it's Ultraman. It's fucking Ultraman. He's gonna fight shit. You know he's gonna fight other aliens and monsters, and there's gonna be a slew of monsters crammed into and hour and a half of movie. People go in expecting him to fight. Yeah, the political shit from Shin Godzilla is interesting and world building, but kids, a majority of Ultraman's audience, go for the fights. >>20847735Ultraman IS better then Godzilla.
>>20847682>>20847735Gee i wonder why TsuPro and Toei let Anno to do Shinfication of their popular toku property now??

>>20847682Wow. Its as if successful thing brings more successful thing.
>>20847758Aw, poor tohokingdom baby can't accept that, possibly, Ultraman is a more beloved series then Godzilla!
>>20847593He already did.
>>20847768The improvement is really fucking insane. I don't know if Decker is able to top that or not.
>>20847768what the fuck happened
>godzilla fans are upset that this movie, is riding on the coat tails of shin godzilla, which released 7 years ago>not because ultraman is open to all it's fans, kids included.
>>20847782China money happened.
>>20847768Ultra bros… WERE BACK BABY
>>20847735Bro Japan hasn't given a shit about Godzilla since the 90s. Anno and 3/11 commentary was legit the main thing driving butts to seats and Shin Godzilla's success didn't really translate to better sales of Toho's anime offerings or the Legendary movies within the current era. I'm a lifelong Godzilla fan that's a relative newcomer to Ultraman and even I can admit this.
>>20847293Is it blue or green?
>>20847768Its a real challenge for Decker sales for sure
>>20847792Godzilla's movie box office was still much higher than Ultraman even during its low popularity phase. Even Final Wars, which was considered as doing so badly it killed Godzilla movies for years, hit a box office of ¥1.2 billion yen which is above Super 8 Brothers (800 million yen), the best performing Ultraman movie.
>>20847812>Decker had to contend with Shinman's massive success AND having to live up to DynaFucked over just like Trigger.
>>20847309this seems to be something only pushed around in english circles as searching in japanese twitter and such seems to bring in no results. lots of users who've seen the film don't bring anything like that up, only the actual things in the film. then you got idiotic godzilla-only kaijutards going around celebrating victory about something they have no proof of, it's very odd... almost as if it were a PSYOP of some sort?
>>20847807The term you want is "Midori"
>>20847768Based Trigger making that bank>>20847775It'll probably do less than Trigger, than rebound back once they do the new gen Gaia show
>>20845918UmGomess, Peguila, Neronga, Juran, Gabora, Mefilas, Zarab, Zetton, Alien Zetton, Goga, Larugeus, Pagos
Why do people in these threads keep saying Trigger and Decker were "fucked over" because they get compared to Tiga and Dyna? If Tsuburaya was actually worried about the comparisons, why would they even bother with these reimagined series?
>>20847859They're essentially the same thing design wise. One was the finalized name and concept while the other was scrapped.
>>20847862Just some people overhating a show, even though in the end people in Japan clearly liked it
>>20847862Person not people, probably the same asshole trying to start Ultra vs Godzilla shit in here despite them both being Eiji's creations.
>>20847738>there's gonna be a slew of monsters crammed into and hour and a half of movie. With the obvious caveat of not having seen the film yet, I think that was a mistake.
>>20847817You forgot the most crucial part. With comparison like this, you also need to count into account the budget. The reason why its almost killed Godzilla movie for years was because its the most expensive Godzilla movie at the time using a total budget of 1.9 billion yen and it massively flopped. There's no exact number for Superior 8 budget, but using Saga budget which is 143 million yen as reference. Or The Next, which is just 6 fucking million. I highly doubt Superior 8 had budget bigger than 200 million.
Shin Ultraman also have something Shin Godzilla didn't, which is star power to attract the fangirls. It was a pleasant surprise to see they also enjoyed the movie, besides able to see their idols.
>>20847933Its literally attracts everyone. Turbo Ultra nerd, insane Hey! Say! JUMP! fangirl, horny Masami Nagasawa otaku, OG generation oldfag, Anno follower, and even Kids who just want to see the punch punch pow. A total win-win situation.
i cant undestart shit, english release when?
>>20847952when im done banging ur mom.there's still no information about it.
trailershin ultra fight
>>20847980Is there an actual rip of the Ultra Fight yet?
>>20847862It's probably the anti-NewGen fags. Those fuckers acted like NewGen is blasphemy wgej NewGen is responsible for the franchise bringining in money nowadays.
The sequel will probably be about Baltan, but just saying, the Jamila episode could easily be its own entire movie.
>>20848039My Home Is Earth would only work well as a movie if the Ide of ShinMan is good. Otherwise I don't want it.
>>20848044Funny that you said that, the Ide equivalent of Shin Ultraman has receive nothing but praises so far. His character and acting seems to be really good in the eyes of the Japanese viewers.
>>20848052Is he an actually funnyman like Ide?
>>20847496>>20847496Dream Sequence looks appropriately trippy.>>20847503So sequels are definitely happening. Hoping Anno gets to actually direct at least one of them.
>Shin Ultraman 2 is Baltan, probably Jamila, or include other stragglers from the original series>Shin Ultraman 3 is Gomora and Lawless Monster Zone centric, with kaiju like Red King and Magular.
>>20848133ShinMan 3 is SHin Ultraseven. So it'll likely be a Seven monster. If Anno's really fucking ballsy, the major monster will be Alien Spell to call back to how ShinGoji's design was based off of nuclear bomb victims.
>>20848133Wouldn't surprise me if we get Mates in one of these moviesIt's easy tearjerker material
>>20848136Then at that point, he should just make Shin Ultraseven.
>>20848144>Then at that point, he should just make Shin Ultraseven.Well. It's called Shin Ultraseven.
>>20847367>I just can't get behind this pure CGII feel like suitmation is dead for the foreseeable future for big budget kaiju movies.
I can't wait for Shin Man and the Shin Kaiju to appear in Stage Shows.

>>20848175I actually love this
>>20847980is the design different in the film?
>>20848203Yes. ShinMan face gradually changes from A, to B, and C type. Just like the TV series.
>>20847735Of course ultraman is better than godzilla
>>20848155We can still get a cinematic ultra movie from tsuburaya like the zero movies but tsuburaya seems to only be interested in shitty regular episodes but longer type movies. Can't blame them they have a 3 part shin series can't really have them compete against each other
Any rips of shin ultra fight yet?

>>20848300>>20848267>JOIN MY DISCORD FOR REAL INFO I PROMISE THIS IS TOTALLY LEGIT PLEEAASE JOIINNNhow about fuck off
>>20848269The Zero movies have like significantly less budget than both ShinG and ShinU though. A better comparison for ShinU would be anime adaptations like Bleach and the Rurouni Kenshin.Suitmation will probably be relegated to TV or the lower-to-mid end of kaiju movies. Shin Godzilla has opened the floodgates for mocap CGI in Kaiju cinema.
>>20847850Other Ultra lines (the metric fuckton of Shin Ultraman merch, Figurise/Threezero Ultraman suit toys) probably also helped too.
>meanwhile in china
>>20848369I'm talking in comparison to the new gen movies that releases in/around march. The zero movies are still cinematic
>>20847768How do we know for sure that these sales are based on the Trigger IP and not just a cumulation of all the Ultra IP sold in the fiscal year? There were an insane amount of Ultra merch sold in that time shinkocchou seihou Tiga, Sparklence Ultra Replicas, Ultraman Z memorial stuff, expensive as fuck tiga statues, Z figuarts, and other toys. I'm pretty sure these sales are under the general label of Ultraman and not Trigger specifically so assuming that Trigger alone is contributing to these sales are kinda misleading
>>20848437Because it's made by this guy>https://youtu.be/-6SVNml7c30He included both domestic and international sales when making the chart.
>>20848469This still doesn't answer the question. The description says he got the numbers from bamco which doesn't list sales made from specific Ultraman IP. The fiscal year earnings are all under the label ultraman and doesn't show how much trigger, or Z, or Zero, made in the same fiscal year. I'd Tiga had a large part of the toy sales, which is why the earnings doubled in a year, not necessarily just Trigger's toys
>>20848192Shin Spell would take design inspiration from Hisashi Ouchi and Freddy Kreuger
>>20848419They always knew
The fact that Haruki is returning for this Ultra Chronicle D episode kinda disproves the whole "his schedule's too filled" thing because TDC was filmed months before this
>>20848686I wonder if he just can't make it to UGF specifically. Kind of weird to write him out
Just watched the movie. Where is funny tea table flipping alien man, that's all I wanted out of the movie and they failed me.
>>20848774Retardanon he isn't from Ultraman, wait for Shin Sebun in 2027
>>20848773None of the other hosts make a physical appearance. Why is this even weird to begin with??
>>20848780Alien Metron would be a good villain for shin seven. He starts a conspiracy to take down humanity and we get a more investigative approach to the movie and maybe even conspiracy theorists type shit going on. Maybe the alien metron is a billionaire who sells a basic need device like a phone that secretly makes the user violent
>>20848339That mod barely talks about ultraman and only really soys out over rider shit in the general chat. information about shin is rare there too.
>>20848805Because they all come back to voice???? Even Daichi who has already have X????
>>20848840Z was significantly more fleshed out as a character compared to X though, it's not like hiroyuki's actor comes back to voice Taiga either
>>20848846Yeah, but his chemistry with Haruki is one of their charms. Not bringing them back together can only mean that Kohshu just did not have the time for UGF then
>>20848840It might be like the Max episode where X has become more like Daichi because of his bond with him
>>20845666>>20845628According to this, yeah.https://dic.pixiv.net/a/%E3%82%BE%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A3Basically, a child magazine published a mistaken spoiler about Zoffy (with the enlongated Zo like the Shin version rather than the correct name) controlling Zetton. And considering the name reference, the Zoffy plot in Shin Ultraman is directly taken from that mistake.
>>20848911X, Taiga, and Z have a weird relationship with their hosts because they actively interact with each other constantly. It's not like days past where the Ultra and host were clearly established as separate entities but rarely, if ever, spoke directly to each other. It eventually got to the point with some (e.g. Dyna, Cosmos) being completely indistinguishable.
Day 2, Shin Ultraman has made an estimate of 400 million yen (693 million with combining yesterday number). With this ravenue so far, Shin Ultraman become the #1 Japanese live action movie of the year. It is expected the number will breaks 1 billion yen by tomorrow.https://twitter.com/eigarankingnews/status/1525467148096704513?s=19
>>20849010For day 1 here >>20847503
>>20848369>Suitmation will probably be relegated to TV or the lower-to-mid end of kaiju movies. You're incredibly naive. There are no lower-to-mid tier kaiju movies. Unless you mean ultra-low budget crowd sourced films. The reality is suitmation costs more than CGI now, even in Japan. Also requires more technical/practical experience despite being perceived as cheaper. Various companies assisted Khara in doing the effects for Shin Ultraman at bargain bin wages. The unionized artists who worked on Toho films in the 00s are gone, Norman England mentioned that some work in car manufacturing. It's a gift that Tsuburaya still has a small team for it's television shows.
>>20848855They want to establish Z as his own character outside of his friendship with Haruki, it's not that hard to get.
>>20848339The Discord is real, they get Ultra actors to pop in and do AmAs. Sean Nichols tends to be the liaison for English TsubuPro news tho.
>>20849016>Also requires more technical/practical experience despite being perceived as cheaper. It was cheaper because there used to be way more people proficient in suitmation. A lot of people who knew how to do it and thus were willing to go for cheap just to compete in a saturated field. Now it's a niche skill not a lot of people in tokusatsu have anymore, and they're mostly gobbled up by Tsuburaya and Toei.
>>20848913Not "a" child magazine, but multiple
>>20848840Yeah and you want Z to just talk to himself for physical scenes??? Or are you saying Z's character should be deleted completely?? Weirdest thing to get insist on fr
>>20849010That's impressive as hell. In the Design Works book it is mentioned that Anno need a huge budget, bigger than the first one, to fully realize his plan for ShinMan sequel. With this great track in box office (and hopefully it stays strong til the end) im optimist TsuPro would grant him the budget upgrade.
>>20849040The fact that the writer and tsubu didn't have a proper setting for the story at the time, and someone who handled promo has provided wrong info to the publishers
>>20849032Having an explosion animation is cheaper than a real life explosion. Destroying CG building is cheaper than destroying real miniature buildings. There's 0 suit maintenance. Just accept that practical effects aren't as cheap as you think
>>20849066I wonder what this sequel even would be, considering how it seems separate from UltraSeven in the original plans, since this seems to basically adapt all of the original series already.
>>20849010Im happy for them. Tsupro deserves all of this.
>>20849079Its likely to be an adaptation of RoU. Safe to assume it because Anno have a huge bias for it.
>>20849010a great news near the end of thread. cool!
>>20849065As of you with me fr. I'm just saying i
>>20849010this is like 30k dollars
>>20849121For reference Avengers Endgame made 7 bill in Japan
>>20847280How are the japs taking the fact that Zetton, the final boss of ultraman, is actually a doomsday-tier living weapon used by the people of the land of light itself apparently sent by Zoffy?
>>20849145Shocked for those who don't know. Laughed for those who know. The whole idea about Evil Zoffy was taken from a misinformation accident, its become a meme among the jap Ultra nerd.
>>20849141I meant the Avengers comparison as a positive, Ultraman making 1/7th of the Avengers as is is still absoloutely nuts
>>20849071I literally was agreeing with you and explaining why they aren't cheap anymore, they only USED to be.
>>20849145Look at Ultraman Justice. At the end nobody cares.
>>20849159this fact is still really funny to me. sasuga anno with his ultra autism kek. can't wait for the sequel.
>>20849159So not only this is a thing, but its a thing due to a misinformed news spoiler that ended up being wrong back then, but Anno wanted to make it happen?Goddammit that asshole, does he actually hate otaku or not?
>>20846152Too creepy for kids. That laughs also somehow able to make grown man like me shivers.
>>20849193He hates otaku because he himself is gigantic turbo super ultra otaku lol.
>>20849171That wasn't me, but even then I have to disagree with you. Toho Godzilla films were consistently the most expensive domestic films when the were released. Also, Tiga-Dyna-Gaia were astronomically popular but never made money because of how many suits and sets they'd make specifically for one episode use.Modern Tsuburaya survives because they make like one or two new monster suits a year and have found creative ways to not destroy miniatures (i.e. that weird perpendicular slide thing they do with buildings).
>>20849193It's either that, or some kind of adolescent kinda imagination finally realized, at least from my point of view. I figure it's not out of malice for the old fan but more of a "Yeah it wasn't a thing back then, but after all this years i wonder, what would happen if its actually true." kind of thinking. Only this time, he's writing this and he can fulfill that nagging imagination from his youth into a thing, at least that's what i'd do honestly.
>>20849193More like a long time fan who finally has powers to make his wildest fanfiction reality and canon.
>>20849239Ok, its just a bit hard to understand this as something that came from the guy behind EVA, EoE and the Rebuild movies. The latter 2 projects being open letters against anime fans and otakus. Punishing them for their likes.Even if this is a case of 'you should separate an artist from his work' it feels a bit hypocritical.
>>20849040It's interesting how they consistently miswrote Zoffy's name. Closed captions weren't a thing back then, but was the name just mispronounced in the episode and my gaijin brain just didn't notice?
>>20848922>am I right?
>>20849193My take is that is no misinformation, but one of the dropped ideas from Kinjo or Okada back in the times. There was several plans like Ultraman being defeated by Zetton and human uses their super weapon to defeat it, and Ultraman refused to accept the help from "Zoffy" to revive himself, etc."Misinformed" is just a way to hide the truth about the production being messy in handling their works.See pic. Even Zoffy's name flip-flops over the course of time.
>>20849264Also the same guy who made Ultraman fan film and that dorky Cutie Honey LA. Anno is just a funny guy. He's been an otaku since day one.
>>20849193His opinion on otaku isn't a detached hatred like Miyazaki. He's tired of otaku culture because he was one of the originals, he was immersed in it, he knows their flaws in and out because he has them as well. His "letters" to otaku are more meant to be a conversational "Hey, we're kinda fucked up and we should acknowledge that" thing instead of a scathing vitriolic dressing down people interpret it as. Evangelion is fucking named after Tomino's speech that was considered one of the first open acceptances of otaku in Japan. And Anno is still an otaku and general nerd, he's going to indulge when he has the opportunity just like the rest of us would when we're not lamenting how we're surrounded by weird nerds.
>>20849283Interesting, tho apparently those are still consistent to a degree, since none of these pronunciations have the elongated ゾー that 'evil zoffy' has, all of those are ゾフィ or ゾフィー.>>20849289>Anno's just a funny guy Thats putting it mildly... Then again, im ready to admit this might be a 'me' problem, never liked those kind of 4th wall breaking 'punish the fans' stories. didnt liked the MGS2 story, didnt liked EoE and the rebuilds message, and to this date i want to kick kojima and anno in the balls for that.
>>20849264I mean, during the same time as EoE, Anno got personally involved to get Eva into SRW F/FF in spite of the Sega partnership Eva had.Even when while criticizing Otaku, Anno was never outright hostile in his actions.
>>20849305>>20849324What does it say
>>20849305>The overall worldview of the film may be somewhat connected to that of "Shin Godzilla. Due to copyright management, it was difficult to make a clear connection, so I used the title "Shin," the word "giant unknown creature," and cast Yutaka Takenouchi as the government man. You're saying Shin Godzilla and Shin Ultraman are indeed connected? Although *loosely*?
>>20849339>Yutaka TakenouchiHe was the guy that was "friends" with the MC in Shin Godzilla right? I always thought that'd be the simplest way to connect them, just bring back the PM-to-be or another government official to establish the SSSP after the events of Shin Godzilla considering the characters in that film are essentially a proto-SSSP.Wonder if Goji's awakening was what brought Man there in the first place and if the other kaiju are a result of Goji/the mysterious scientist
>>20849355I honestly didn't really remember anything about Shin Godzilla characters, aside the one office chick. But yeah he was part of the main cast in Shin Godzilla.
>>20849141lmao yen value is ridiculous, these days I was watching kaiji and when I converted he was betting his fingers for 250K
>We will soon see Rider killing Ultra aliens while dealing with Shocker at the other end
>>20849305At this point I thoroughly expect Shin KR and the cyborgs do be developed using samples of Goji.
Has anyone here actually seen the movie? or are they speculating everything?
>>20849377>Zoffy sees Shocker turning humans into Kaiju>"Sort this shit out or I'm bringing Zetton back"
I do find it odd how being close to Narita's original Ultraman design was a selling point for Shin but Zetton is actually closer to his Powered version and I remember reading that Narita didn't care for the Powered redesigns.
>>20849377Dont forget the godzilla xenomorph spawn.I can imagine that would be the endgame for this universe: shocker managing to get ahold of godzillas dna or the corpse and then revive it to allow godzilla to spawn the xenomorphs. Leaving ultraman and the riders to fighting them.Remember that going by the 'godzilla is an ever-evolving lifeform' thing, the xenomorphs not only are many but all of them are just as powerful as godzilla. So yeah... End of the world right there...
>>20849382The spoilers are all over the place and bunch of production pic and information from the official design work book already spread online. Even here there's some nip anon who already watched the movie and directly dumping the info.
During the shooting, Takumi Saito practiced the henshin pose using a spoon.https://twitter.com/shin_ultraman/status/1525355227230003200?s=09
>>20849378Also aliens sharing knowledge and tech with the government, ended up building a super computer to run the country.>>20849384Using Zetton to clean up the place before Earth has the tech to go into space with super weapons is probably the best solution made by the Star of Light in that universe.
>>20849450They really did it.. Madman..
>>20849450I know classic ultras do weird shit when flying, but seeing that, i cant help but hearing POWDERED! TOOAST! MAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!! in my head.
>>20849473That seems overkill for a single planet...
>>20849478Well there are aliens on Earth already so might be a good idea to burn the area clean in case if there are some of those hiding on other rocks in the neighborhood.
>>20849478With Kaiju running around like termites, Zoffy probably initially thought best to just clean house
>>20849376That's still a lot of money.
>>20849450The filter put on this makes me feel like I'm watching a PS2 cutscene.
I wonder how many casualties there will be caused extrictly by ultra
>>20849553>>20849550Oh hey he does have the Type A face. Wonder why they didn't have him fight Bemular first tho?
>>20849599We don't know what's Lipia original mission in the first place. In the original series he was taking Bemular to the Kaiju graveyard of Kaiju (not Kaiju Graveyard). In this movie he just sort of appeared while the Neronga event happens. Some people are suspecting Lipia was there to retrieve Zetton for Zoofy after being used to wipe out another system.
>>20849599Neronga got a spot in Anno's heart.
>>20849599Gotta have kaiju for the sequel.>Bemular>Gomora>Red King>Baltan
The Star of Light spread the seeds to different place in the universe.Zoofy and Zetton are there to determine and destroy the bad seeds.Ultraman thinks human are redeemable so he fight against Zetton. He sacrifices his life and give up his body to save MC. It defeats Zetton and closes the gate to home. After some chit-chat between the 2 alien Zoofy granted Ultraman's wish to saves MC.During the process of saving MC Zoofy lost his Beta Capsule. He lost the ability to become giant, and also his way to go home. The gate is close. No more alien will come by until it's being opened again.MC returns his team to work on defense system against alien invasion.Zoofy ends up living among human and monitor their progress.
>>20848840But Z was his own character separate from Haruki
>>20849809Is that the actual rise sequence? That is so fucking cool.
>>20847980Ultraman The First did something similar, though I don't know if it gives any narrative justification for it since it's not translated. It's a neat manga to just flip through, though.
>>20849377I hope not. I'd rather all this be kept separate.
>>20849659>The Star of Light spread the seeds to different place in the universe.>Zoofy and Zetton are there to determine and destroy the bad seeds.Seems to evoke Eva a little.
>>20849478What's it specify?
Apparently you can get this movie on QQ Tencent
>>20846665>>20846664>it's hecking deconstructionorino!
>>20849624>to retrieve Zetton for Zoofy after being used to wipe out another system.thats such an excuse for their zetton weapon to be taken by another alien race...
>>20850448I'm not that interested in camrips, but a full quality rip of the Ultra Fights would be nice to have.
Damn with the Shin universe being connected, we'll be getting the SHIN Ultraman vs Kamen Rider. They even have human turn giant plot already in Ultraman.
>>20850678Well I doubt we'll see anything like that anytime soon, maybe when home release comes
When should new thread be made?
>>20850763When we're on page 9, probably
>>20850798Already page 9 now
>>20850448What's the quality? Captcha: 4K2KN
>>20849057>Any movie beating the magnum opus of cinema, Morbius. At least make it believable.
>>20850978If they want infinite money they need to do a team up STAT
>>20850448is this where all those awful looking filtered 4:3 webms are coming from? definitely would not want to watch the whole movie like that
>>20851055The filtered one is from Shin Ultra Fight
>>20851055They're official uploads where they desat the shit out of it and lowered the quality. Not a cam rip
>>20851000Only if it's with Ultraman Mebius
Interesting thing about this movie that i learned after seeing live nip response from twitter since its debut day was that this movie actually got bunch of nip SJW, especially the feminist one, mad. Apparently Masami Nagasawa character in here was portrayed with high sexual drive & erotic value, which they think its a backward & old idea of "woman" representation lmao. But it seems the majority didn't give a damn about it and the movie still sells extremely well. It looks like to me just the usual case of SJW who always complaining on woman being anything sexy these days. Based Anno dabbing on them. Just put "長澤まさみ" on the search if you want to read about it.
>>20851097>Morbius screams at Mebius' blade which allows it to cut through a Matt Smith-modified Zetton.>Post-credits is of Spider-Man and Ultraman meeting up.Imagine the money they would make.
>>20849307>didn't like MGS2You have shit taste
>>20845425So when is this getting a digital release?
>>20849966and it very likely is. even that written article is implying that the attempt was made but due to copyright (very likely how stingy toho is with those) its not gonna happen in film. most people claiming that connections are name dropped or shit like that never back up their claims and spread it around anyways. as for the returning actors, i think it's just a passing visual reference like how in the showa era you'd have ultra series actors appear in godzilla movies and vice versa.
>>20851160honestly this and other discussions of the films quality further prove the supposed shin universe isn't connected at all lmao. you'd think people would make a bigger fuss and hype about that but no, reviews and critics and reception are more focused on the film itself and this situation from the actress.
>>20848419That's a lot of Getter Guts coming off of that.
>>20853236Better than anything from Felcher Gundam at least.
>>20853255When in doubt just watch high quality mecha anime like on this recommendation chart.
