No love for powered armor? All the coolness of a mecha but without the size and cost issue.
fuck off
>>20817175power armor's cool. anybody know how long it's been since our last power armored series?
>world became cyberpunk>cyberpunk genre is deadfitting
>>20817191Ultraman S2 came out some weeks ago.
>>20817175That's what 4 meter tall mini-mecha like AT's are for.
>>20817210Sick season until the titty alien died, really petered out after that
>>20817191Does Shikizakura count?
>>20817210i did like season 1, something to watch before i cancel my netflix sub
Waiting for the epic retard to come in and say none of these are powered armour but are instead power armour.
>>20817605Will that get you off?
>>20817175>No love for powered armor? If you want to make a thread just make a thread, stop this new fag bullshit right here though. Just because you don't see a thread up 24/7 general style doesn't mean THERE'S NO LOVE or /M/ HATES THIS... It just means there's a thread up. You're an idiot.
>>20817705At least they didn't say something about how the dust has now settled.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug2BK0MQe1QAgito had it all.
>>20817622You weren't there man.
>>20817175We literally have several toku general you retard
>>20817239You don't wear an AT, so it can't be armor.>>20817605> It's not powered armor, it's power armorIs there a difference?
Power Armor sounds betterBut Powered Armor makes more sense
>>20819796>Grammar Nazis proving themselves to be pointlessLove to see it.
>>20817175>All the coolness>buy without the size and costso, none of the coolness???
>>20819396>You don't wear an ATNot physically, maybe, you definitely wear it spiritually.
>>20818799Isn't that more of a /v/ thing?
>>20820253And who do you think makes these threads?
>>20820253Mostly. There's been swathes of it washing over here on occasion, along with similar situations with /tv/ garbage among others.
Symphoshit killed power armor discussion on /m/.
>>20821527> Symphogear killed power armor discussion on /m/> Constant Kamer Rider threads> Super Sentai too, depending on how you define power armor> Regular threads for anime like Tekkaman, Guyver, Bubblegum Crisis, Starship Troopers etc> Occasional threads even for less popular shows like Active Raid, Garo etc.Power armor as it's own concept, with no ties to any particular franchise, has never been a particularly popular topic on /m/, and honestly, complaining about that would just be weird, when most mecha threads tie to specific shows, movies, manga etc. and not just "let's discuss giant robots". You still do get the occasional thread discussing the concept of power armor, but it was never more than occasional in the first place.
>>20821636Henshin isn't "power armor".
Maximum bait
>>20821964Yep. It's more like a magical suit of armor powered by human spirit/guts/what ever.
>>20827143If you know where to look.
>>20827170>That one pile of police brutality propaganda from 2016 we don't talk aboutI’m intrigued now
>>20827170>-TV Rayfail kinda sorta (does magic knight armor count?)I don't remember any indication of mechanical elements at all.
>>20821964>>20823871Eh, I would still count some toku as power armor, even if its henshin.
>>20827215You shouldn't even have given him a (you), and you quoted the exact bit that proved it's someone who doesn't deserve (you)s.
>>20817199It's escapist entertainment, what do you expect. It's why everything dystopian has been post apocalyptic for decades. No one wants to think about the type of dystopia we already live in.
>>20819327The amount of autists on this board is insane but it makes sense
>>20827242>and then one day, for no reason at all, isekai became the most popular genre
>>20817199Cyberpunk isn't dead. It's just vastly harder to make.Back in 2000 all you had to do is add implant, robot and hack everything on the internet.Nowadays people have higher expectation. The hacker can't look like a 90s punk anymore, we know implant wouldn't give superpower, that it's silly to be able hack everything and robots must at least look like the ones from Elysium.
>>20827626This is retarded.
>>20827626Spoken like a truly retarded zoomer.
>>20817175>but without the sizeBut that's literally part of the fun. I want vehicles, not suits.
>>20817605>But nobody came.
>>20817175Eh, I've yet to find a cheap power armor in fiction.
>>20817175
>>20835591I wonder what Heinlein's take on the anime was. He died the year it came out.
>>20827245It really is a mystery. The world may never know why that happened.
>>20835927What's to get? Once one makes a million billion yenbucks that's all anyone ever wants to put out so of course it's all we see. Because heaven forbid we don't make ALL THE MONEY EVER. Once something else makes the most money that will be the new fad.
>>20836080Isekai is at the peak of popularity right now because no one has any hope for this shit world and rebirthing in another one is the only satisfying escapist fantasy now
>>20827170You could maybe count Red Spark Zillion for its transforming bike armor although Its probably been 20 years since Ive seen it.
>>20836326Zillion was pretty alright
>>20836647Time to revisit, I just flipped my shit because I found the Lensman tv show subbed which is something I'd never thought I would get to see, just the shitty Harmony Gold movie compilation of it. Need to give Dorvack a shot too.
>>20827173
>>20835927Have you seen the absolute state of the world lately?
>>20843345Escapist fantasy is hardly a new concept and just because the world is shitty doesn't mean our escape needs to be either.
>>20827245>>20835927You can deduce the reasons, it's the easiest stuff to write. The easiest way to make a character is a self-insert of yourself or the targeted publicThe easiest way to sent it to adventure is a easy trope that's accepted by the public (medieval fantasy mean you don't need to think about technology)For publisher/editor that's easy profit. It's cheap easy to make and it cater to their cores audience: otaku who want easy escapism + some sex.Plus they aren't expected to finish those and can replace them by another isekai meme as soon it get stale.
>>20843368No, school romcom harem is the easiest stuff to write. Fuck off retard.
>>20817175Cute priss
>>20843539They're both pretty much exactly the same except the expectation for a shitty romcom is just rom and com. Even a bad one will deliver that much. A shitty isekai however is all the worse because now the heroes have so little attachment to their home life that finding a way back is not only not so much an option it's not even a consideration. Instead we get more and more watered down flavors of Dragon Quest bootlegs, set in a, and it makes me retch every time I say it, "adventurers guild" where the so called heroes don't even have to stumble into quests or actually have a proper adventurer that's not a level 1 dungeon dive complete with game mechanics because heaven forbid we actually develop a functioning and interesting world when we can just point a template RPG MODEL and never so much as threaten the lazy fucking readers with the idea of working to achieve greatness by struggling against adversity for the greater good. So while a bad romcom will at least get bad rom and bad com, a bad isekai adventure won't even get fucking adventure with all the annoying parts of the bad romcom tossed in there onto of things.
>>20846232>They're both pretty much exactly the same Stop posting
>>20846663Why? They are correct
>>20821964If they have the Iron Man inside the helmet looking at the face shots, then it's power armor. OOO's Birth and all the Build Riders are power armor, along with any type of Rider that does the broken helmet showing human face scene.Hibiki's helmet removal is probably some biological nightmare. And that's all ignoring the G3/G4/G5/V1 power armors from Agito which are undeniable power armor>>20827227Kabuto's are power armor, and Faiz's is likely power armor but Orphonoch's DNA might make it biological merging or whatever.
Iron Man Sentai Rogue Employee
>>20827626>that it's silly to be able hack everythingit was silly in the 90s but now that everything is Internet of Things infested it's the all too common reality. One unnamed university had their gosh darn lightbulbs hacked and used for botnet shit.
>>20854944You chose a good example but in a cyberpunk setting the punk would take control of the light just entering the room, then plug his portable AI buddy into any USB plugs to hack the shut-down computer, immediately extracting the access codes that will let him freely access the completely isolated defense network. It's still a retarded idea to buy a chinese coffee-machine with wifi feature and set it up in your top secret base.
>>20855107Doesn't sound too far fetch than Accel World honestly.
Luv me powerarmor. Simple as.
>>20855107>It's still a retarded idea to buy a chinese coffee-machine with wifi feature and set it up in your top secret base. It's almost as if you're not familiar with the idea of the villain having hubris.Besides, with the struggle to find internetless appliances somedays, the future might not even offer wifiless coffee makers. I don't think you can get a car without a bunch of useless computers getting in the way of the basic ability to fix them.
>>20855311I don't really follow you because the villain would be the one aware of the wifi-coffee hacking software since he developed them. You can have a market for Internetless-notspying-coffee-machine. It's just that you'll be paying more for that extra feature.
>>20855323>You can have a market for Internetless-notspying-coffee-machine.there being a market for something and there being products available for that market are two different things.there is a market for internetless notspying farm equipment that doesn't brick itself for two months if you replace a tail light, but good luck getting John Deere to sell you any.
>>20855342You just need to look at the right shop Jhon Galt.
>>20827173holy shit this is the first time I've been on /m/ in years and one of the first threads I've been still has same anon who has the weird irrational personal vendetta against Active Raid lmaothis place never changes, it's nice in a way
>>20855691There's lots of lifers on /m/, posting the same shit opinions and shit bait in any possible thread it won't get deleted by a janny.
>>20836178Isekai's popularity peak, at least in Japan, was a good few years ago. Now people are just making Dragon Quest inspired fantasy works. Western weebs are catching the end of the wave as Crunchyroll et.al. try to squeeze a few more eggs out of that golden goose. The financial reason there was so much isekai, Narou being a webnovel to franchise pipeline, stopped because Narou asked people to stop submitting isekai to them.
>>20858038Nah. Wrong. Many isekai anime/manga productions are still at the forefront. It'll wane, but not right now.
>>20817246>until the titty alien diedAre you retarded or simply pretending?
>>20855970they gotten tired of it
>>20865663>part 2 neverIt hurts so much
>>20865663>>20865820>Can't find shit about the mecha onlineOh Wikia Anon we got an assignment for (You)!
Halo Power Suits
>>20817175Love power armor
>>20817175Found some more
>>20886819imagine wearing a suit that makes you fat
>>20886863Why would you give a shit about an armored suit makes you look fat when it adds armor, weapons and support systems that will not only help you traverse, navigate, affect and survive a battle? I'm having a harder time imagining caring about it; or even noticing it, honestly. How much of a prissy bitch do you have to be to refuse to wear something that will be so helpful for your actual job because "this'll make me LOOK fat"?
my one pet peeve about powered armour is that a lot of designs just don't work with a human in themfor example too wide shoulders like >>20856632 or fucked up legs like >>20872992limbs don't work like that bro
>>20865663why was this deleted
>>20879852She is actually a giant robot.
>>20854588Ah so actual historical samurai armor is power armor, then, because movies have used shots showing the face inside the helmet half a century before any Iron Man movies existed.
>>20817175They're cool.
I'm making my own power armor design and I'm stuck on the boots and what to get an opinion is it better to have boots that look like normal boots with some armor or have the leg armor extend more and becoming a mechanical foot? I know rule of cool is more important but I can't think of a good design or direction.
>>20906562Looks incredibly uncomfortable
Picrel is a power armor, but I'm not sure that the series in question (Infinite Stratos) ever explained whether Chifuyu's suit actually amplifies her physical abilities, or she's already that athletic in the first place.
>>20914085Big stompy boots based on older ski boot designs and have built in hovering capabilities.
>>20918402it's like a retarded Appleseed mech, and what is it with GW and face sculpts that bitch doesn't look human she looks like a a fucking reptilian
>>20918419if i remember right it's not the sculpt, it's that GW deliberately paints them to look like that
>>20918398I prefered Belltower's Armor in Human Revolution, though the big Exosuits where cool I wish there where more of them.
The grunt cops in Silent Mobius wore their own kind of armored suits. They don't really ever do much against the major threats. Later on they do get an upgrade to be coated with pure silver to offer some magical protection but they fair predictably even then.
>>20918078I'm of the unpopular opinion that SI has somewhat lovely designs.
>>20922558I'm of the somewhat popular opinion that you're wrong.
one of the few things Fallout 4 did rightfuck the battery life though
Realistic in artwork, anime in behavior.
>>20930787>realistic???????????????
>>20930787>RealisticShut up.
>>20925331>when the power armor gets power armor
>>20861587Kenneth Rocafort is an amazing artist.
>>20854588The only Rider that I would consider fully power armor by that description was G3/X, which actually had to be put on. All the other still use transformation technomagic of somesort. G3-X even moved like how you expect from a bulky ass power armor that it was slow and clunky, with most of his attacks from his weapons. The suits from 555 is also possible cause that series was the most sci-fi of all the KR series. No magic, just pure science of a sort outside of the way the suit forms I guess.
>>20846663Isekai fan triggered.
>>20817175>No love for powered armor?on contrary , a Lot of love .specially if it's a model to build and paint ...
>>20885538damn, im still mad that Hybrid Insector got C&D´d
>>20817175Tony Stark coming thru, don't mind him...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjJofEuSA78&t=80shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F01UTYg79KY
>>20938716Speaking of which...
>>20960422I wish this show was better
HybridxHeart is the best power armor LN series IMO.It features an nee-san that really supports her MC younger brother.
