Post real life mech suits and concepts
>>19843946i dont know why i find this thing so intimidating, maybe its the almost human like torso combined with the fact that its the size of an elephant but im getting strong t1 terminator vibes
>>19842073For anybody who is curious, the pitman mech is probably the most realistic mech design ever created>Resistant to 50bmg armor piercing rounds all around>Can mount typically crew served weaponry, standard armament was an arm mounted m2 heavy machinegun but it could logically mount anything else in the same size class such as AGL's or miniguns >Got several million in millitary funding, working prototypes were built but power issues were never solved, could probably be done successfully today if built with a micro gas turbine generator to supply powerI bet light mechas like this will see actual combat use if megacity warfare ever becomes a thing, modern infantry are just too damn squishy in a world of IED's and explosive laden drones.http://cyberneticzoo.com/man-amplifiers/1991-%E2%80%93-pitman-%E2%80%93-jeff-moore-american/ This page has a very interesting excerpt on the pitman
>>19844227realistic combat mech design*Its a shame no army has ever gotten the inkling to test out what a walking tank could do in an urban combat environment.
>>19844227>I bet light mechas like this will see actual combat use if megacity warfare ever becomes a thing, modern infantry are just too damn squishy in a world of IED's and explosive laden drones.More likely people would just use other drones and humans just served to hold territory, which is defensible and absolves the need for the armor in the first place. Also is power armor mecha? You dont pilot it, you wear it.
>>19845501It has mechanized muscle fibers, the suit armament and all probably weighs damn near a thousand pounds, I guess j don't understand where the line is drawn between mechs and suits of power armor
T52 enyu rescue robot
>>19845644User interface, if it requires an artifical interface (ie a cock pit, throttle ect) than its a mech, if its motivated by the body its powered armor.Neural interfaces not withstanding, typically if you are sitting down, you're in a mech.
>>19845680Makes sense, but you could have some BIG very mecha looking suits that are still controlled via natural body movements
>>19845685Which would make them powered armor (if the user is internal) or drone (external)
>>19845687Artwork by Kunio Okawara.
>>19845685I think a certain size requires a cockpit and the type of controls there in are irrelevant to its classification.
>>19845703Elaborating further, if a it was specifically designed to have a cockpit, that makes them a pilot and the machine is a mech. Power armor has the user distributed over the system (literally wearing it). Typically you can blow off components in mechs without direct risk to the pilot unless it hits the cockpit (excluding explosions, concussive force, shrapnel etc), but blowing off select components of power armor literally cripples the user as well as the machine.
>>19842073something about this is so awesome
>>19842070the Kuratas always remind me of the earlier Labors from Patlabor
>>19842073bro that's the living bullet from Dexter's lab
>>19873612I wonder if this is what the SAINT robots in short circuit were based off of.
>>19842073Irl arms race to build best urban combat mecha armor when?
There was a guy on /diy/ building a mech last year, with videos on youtube. Can't remember the name, though.
>>19873601god that remains the sickest irl mech imo>perfect size>cool multi-leg + wheel config>cool cockpit
>>19878182>that last onejesus fucking christimagine you time travel into the past and a shrimp with that shape and size walks into you
The Bob Semple was a prototype mobile armor.
>>19881297if this counts than so does the Killdozer
>>19845501powerarmor is the smallest form of mecha. having the haptic controlers bepart of the suits limbs does not change that.there are corridors and situations where "more people" does not work. throwing more bodies at something is also wastefull, not to mention cruel. drones have limited payload by needing to fly. ground drones would be very usefull.but having drones fully remote controled makes them easy to jam, and fully autonomous drones scream for skynet scenarios. so having rather dumb drones and power armor/mech robotard wranglersto point them at the enemy makes sense.
>>19845680>>19845685>>19845691i think pedal, button and joystick controls are awefully limiting for humanoid mechs, as it ignores natural movement in favour of preprogramed motions or ai (which can be an issue of itself). haptic controls are far more efficient for humanoid design, as natural movement of humans is the most situationaly aware option on the ground. spider tanks can be joystick controlled, as less awareness (only insect level) is needed from the machine.>>19845703>>19845742the control methode is indeed irrelevant. scale is what distinguishes a power armor from a mech:- power armor: human scale, maybe stilted limbs.- landmate: one pair of limbs no longer in the mechs, legs still stilted.- mini mech: pilot capsule makes up majority of the torso- mech: pilot capsule makes up less than half of the torso, or only the head- titan: pilot capsule is negligable compared to the rest.
>>19878182Has anyone tried to make an electrically powered strandbeest yet?
>>19923756There’s this one
>>19842073Why is the display vibrating?
>>19926117now we just need him to be carrying a tank turret instead of some heavy boxes
>>19878812when there's a power sorce small enough to fit but powerful enough to get it to be combat efficient probably like 72hrs +
>>19935260Doesn't look healthy
>>19923998>the killdozer had to be dismantled and its parts scattered across the country to stop people from attempting to rebuild it
>>19952269>They can't fight those who abandon reason and play life like an anime, so they made a country-wide scavenger-hunt.>they also can't comprehend that people can just take the mere concept and UPGRADE the motherfuckerWho wants to build a new killdozer?

>>19923989probably a laser-raytraced disply, with a fixed laser and "vibrating" mirrors on high-speed magnetic servomotors called galvos

>>19845662>Fat boy>Maximum joy
>>20042549>somebody other than me posts Johnson Sea Link IIwoah
>>19911187Thats a nice way to overcomplicate classification. The more common (and arguable better) distinguishing factor is that: If the operator has to 'wear' it, it's a power armor/suit, if they have to ride the damned thing, it's a mech.
>>20045296undersea duel to the death, lets fuckin goooooooooooooo
>>20047022you don't need dueling for undersea deaths in a Johnson Sea Link lol
>>20045797Then, what about a "mechsuit"?
>>19963993>PermanentlyOn the one hand it's kind of a shitty tourist trap attraction, on the other I'm kind of glad I went when I was there in 2019 now.
>>19926117The graphics overhaul in the Death Stranding Director's Cut looks incredible. Bravo Kojima.
>>20048145What about it? Do you wear it or ride it? Generic names in an attempt to make a 'different' machine for IP serves no purpose other than to confuse people from classification.
>>20101683I'm going to have to lay off my rubber pony girls
