Alright listen. I'm not here looking for shitposts and arguments. I'm here, /m/an to /m/an with a simple question: what's your absolute number 1 /m/ show you love rewatching?
>>
I've never rewatched a show
>>
I'm gonna get fucking raped for this, but either Gundam SEED or Unicorn.
>>
>>19763811
>Dododododododo.
BAAAAAAAAAA BABABAAAAAAAAAAAA BABABAAAAA BABABA BARRARARARRA!
>>

Samurai Flamenco. It's just such a love letter to toku while also being batshit insane.
>>
>>19763811
Patlabor is my go to sit back and relax comfy rewatch show.

That said Dai Gaurd is also up there.

The fights in SSSS.Gridman and maybe some cool moments like the dream episodes in Gridman and Dynazenon.
I never sat down and rewatch any show from start to finish. Except for SSSS.Gridman since there was like a 4-hour compilation of the episodes and I had a long-ass flight There's always something new to watch whether it's seasonal or already aired. I usually watch clips and or individual episodes of shows I like.

I love it more each time I rewatch it, once a year every year.

Seed has a lot of great dramatic moments that pop one after another in the second half. It's a great rewatch.

The world is sort of thinly conceived and Destiny is... yeah. But Seed itself is a good time and to hell with the people who act like it's the same as Destiny.
>>
Season one of The Big O.
I cannot get enough of it, it just oozes style and the animation is goddamn gorgeous.
>>
S1 of 00. The way the second half of the season raises the stakes always gets me and episodes 21-25 are some of my all time favorite episodes to rewatch in general.
>>
>>19763811
MST3k

I've watched both of these many times, and the end aways make me cry.

The one I enjoy rewatching from start to finish is Eureka Seven.
I can literally watch the series once and want to return to episode 1 as soon as I'm done.
But the series I find myself rewatching random episodes from the most is probably Gundam SEED or 00.
sometimes I'll just rewatch their season finales because they were so good.

>>19763955
00 might be the gundam series I've rewatched the most.
It's really easy to get into especially because there's such a clear cut between both seasons so when I rewatch it I start off going "Oh I'll just revisit season 1", but by the time that ends I'm already hooked in and go "fuck it, I'll watch season 2 too".

>>19763865
Nah SEED is actually an amazing show to rewatch.
It may not be good from a qualitative standpoint, but it's filled with tons of really entertaining moments that were incredibly well directed.
The Strike's first launch, Battle of Orb, Kira vs Athrun, The entire final arc are some of the best moments in Gundam.
The problem with SEED is everything around that.
Same goes for unicorn.
>>
I've watched Gun X Sword at least once a year every year for over a decade now, and I show it to everyone who will listen. I will watch this show any time.
>>
>>19763811
I don't do it very often, but FMP and Fumoffu.
>>
>>19763851
>>19764001
How very boring of you. Why do you watch anything. Do you honestly need something new? You're never gonna appreciate shit if you're constantly just shoving new and shiny down your gob.
>>
>>19763936
this.
>>
>>19764330
More like you want to try everything and see it all, can't do that if you have things on repeat.
>>
>>19764339
There's no point in watching something if you're not going to retain any of it. You're just distracting yourself at this point.
>>
While not shows, I cannot get enough of Mazinger Z VS The Great General of Darkness, M.D Geist and the Gekiganger 3 OVA. They're all short, sweet and great fun, and if I'm feeling down it's nice to put my legs up, get a warm mug of milk and watch one. Geist's dub is a barrel of laughs, and the ending and soundtrack never get old, Gekiganger 3 and VS The Great General of Darkness feel like near perfect Super Robot packages and seeing Gekiganger V/Great Mazinger help save the day always puts a smile on my face.
>>
>>19764051
I've rewatched Gunbuster a lot though only watched Diebuster twice cus i don't care for it as much
>>
>>
>>19763811
Macross F.
>>
>>19763811
Eureka Seven. It's also my favorite show in general. I normally have issues watching longer series, but E7 captivated me from episode 1, and I had no trouble watching the whole thing over again a few months later. Gotta rewatch it again soon, I think it's a great summer show.
>>
>>19763811
Its dumb but I can rewatch G1 Transformers, especially Seasons 1 & 2, over and over again. When it was on Netflix a while back, I would just have it on in the house while I did housework or homework.
For eastern mecha, its probably Zoids (Both Chaotic Century & Zero). I know /a/ shits on animes when they hit their tournement arc, but I love shit like that so have Zero premise of ranking up for the final tourney got me hype'd.
>>
original gundam
>>
>>19763811
Super Robot Red Baron. It's simple and fun enough that I can casually pop in an episode when I feel like it.

Just a shame that its distribution is limited (even in circles like this one).
>>
>>19763811
Giant Robo. I watch it every year, always makes me tear up.
>>
>>19764283
Taniguchi shows are always fun to rewatch. There's all sorts of things you notice again that pay off later. Planetes is also great for that.

Ya know Planetes is one of my most absolute favorite pieces of narrative ever and yet I never looked into anything else Taniguchi ever did.

Maybe I should change that a bit.

Any Gundam series, from 0079 to Narrative.
There's just something that just clicks with the whole franchise that gets me to rewatch shows and movies, somehow they always end up being more fun than the last watch.
>>
>>19767358
Yeah you should.
>>
I've been rewatching Turn A lately and honestly it is so good, definitely later (happy) Tomino's opus. It's a studio Ghibli movie turned into a Gundam series not just from the charming Victorian aesthetic, but also in its creativity. No other show has the mobile suit used as a washing machine and livestock transport.

Turn A also has the most naturalistic Tomino dialogue out of all his shows. It turns out the Victorian costumes also make his often peculiar dialogue pass as antiquated speak.
>>
Shin Getter Robo: Armageddon.

Easily the most rewatchable.

Full metal panic is something of a guilty pleasure of mine. Between its more modern take on it's mechs, good mix of serious and humor, and its /k/ommando protagonist, it immediately became one of my all time favorites and is not only one of the few series I've rewatched more than once but it also got me to sit down and read the LNs just to find out how it ends. Here's hoping we get that final season one day.
>>
>>19767769
Nah, I'd give that to Shin vs Neo for keeping all of Ishikawa's chaotic fun.
>>
>>19767895
>guilty pleasure of mine.
You fuck faces really need to stop misusing words. For something to be a GUILTY pleasure it has to be SHIT.

>>19767897
I'd give it to VS just for it's brevity. You can watch the whole thing in about the same time it takes to watch a movie.
>>
Code Geass.

Yeah I'm not very original but nothing else comes close.
>>
>>19763811
It's very rare that I rewatch anything. But when I do, it's only the absolute craziest shows like Goldran or Shin Mazinger. The kinda thing that has so much insanity that lesser moments of crazy kind of get forgotten but are no less entertaining to see again
>>
>>19763811
Probably Dai-Guard. There was a point where I was rewatching it once every year, but I actually haven't gotten around to it in a while. Need to get on that.

Gundam X and Votoms are my other favorites to rewatch, but they're not as short and easy to digest as Dai-Guard.
>>
G-Reco, unironically. I love the adventure feel. Makes me feel like a kid again.
>>
>>19764330
>Do you honestly need something new?
Need? No.
Want? Yes.
I'll rewatch fondly-remembered episodes, but that's about it.

I have to have rewatched 0080 the most, just by virtue of it being a Christmas tradition. I'll also rewatch any and all Patlabor content as frequently as I can stomach, definitely either yearly or every other year.

Let's see now
>0080 is a yearly rewatch during the Christmas season
>G Gundam is great to rewatch too, though I don't do it as much as 0080
>Gaogaigar is a great rewatch too, but I haven't done it in a few years admittedly (Gimme that western BD release already)
>I rewatched each previous season of Symphogear prior to the release of whatever the newest season was coming out (IE: for XV I rewatched S1, G, GX, and AXZ), I'll probably do a whole sitdown of the entire series next January for the 10th anniversary
>Any movie that I really enjoyed (IE: GiTS, Redline, F91, Promare, etc) I'll pop in and just relax on the couch to rewatch on a whim

Overall I'd say 0080 and GGG are my favorites to rewatch
>>
>>19767358
I mean Planetes is hands down the best thing he's ever done, but the rest of his oevure is definitely worth a watch.

>what's your absolute number 1 /m/ show you love rewatching?
Honestly? I go back every six months or so to rewatch one of the Bubblegum Crisis and/or Gall Force OVAs (including Scramble Wars/Ten Little Gall Force, fite me). They're fucking gorgeous and nowhere near the massive time sink that rewatching one of the supers shows, Gundam or Macross series represents. I've gotten to speak to SonoKen more than once in person and it's been great every time, which adds to my general enjoyment of his work.

My wife is 150% an Evangelionfag, so in terms of sheer rewatches it's #2 on the list. #3 is probably Macross Plus. Yes, I'm old enough to be your Dad, shut up..

Maze. No, I'm not kidding. And I'd kill to get my hands on the movie, but alas it seems to be completely lost at this point.
Seikimatsu doing the OP. Constant and very silly borderline porn. The cast is like a tankless, marginally more-competent version of Those Who Hunt Elves. The villain is just straight-up Cher. Yoh Yoshinari kicking ass on critter and mecha design. Plus it's just genuinely fucking weird.
>>
>>19763811
Outlaw Star. Any other answer I'd give would be wrong.
>>
>>19767358
Gun X Sword is great, and I normally don't watch super robot stuff. It's episodic enough you can ease into it, but then it picks up and you just want to keep going.

Ya don't fucking say.
>>
Gundam Wing is the only show I've watched multiple times over the years. Heero's impatience with annoying women, willingness to do what's necessary to accomplish his goals and patrician penchant for piloting more than just his Gundam are all endearing qualities that make the protagonist and by extension the rest of the show interesting. If only more protagonists could be focused, goal oriented, and have the backbone to stand up to women. Those are incredibly rare traits in modern anime, likely because it's tailored to appeal to more than just young boys. That paradigm shift was a huge mistake.
>>
>>19787157
Then you don't like rewatching it (the whole thing).

I like rewatching it fine, but you don't have to binge watch every goddamn thing like a retard.
