***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!

>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post images whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting images.

>Why are my pictures sideways?
4chan strips EXIF data from images when they're uploaded to the website from your phone, including the orientation display tag. To solve this, save your images out separately, or use an app that will rotate and save the image itself for you.
One commonly used app that works well on Android:

--MECHA MUSUME GROUPBUILD--
Build and customize a mecha musume/female mecha kit to your stylings. Examples of mecha musume kits/lines include:
>Build Fighters Super Fuminas/Mobile Dolls/Figure-rise Standards/etc
>Frame Arms Girls
>Megami Devices
>A.T.K.Girls
>Aoshima's V.F.G.
Examples of female mechas include:
>Feminine mobile suits (Nobel Gundam, GN Archer, Farsia, Woundwort, etc)
>Female SDs (IE: Diao-chan Qubeley)
>Feminine LBXs (IE: Kunoichi, Pandora)
>Fei Yen
>Valsione
>Strelizia
You're free to do whatever else with your entry so long as you use any of those kits (or something similar) as a basis. If you're feeling ballsy, you can try kitbashing a MS with a female figure out of your own parts as well.

Send a description along with both WIP and Finished images of your build to gunplaplamo@gmail.com

Anybody who has built the Alex 2.0 tell me what I did wrong? The wrists just twisted off after a simple turn or two. I know I assembled the part correct. Circled is the assembly step in question. I've glued them because it's all i can do for now but is there a way to repair them without out using a proxy to order new parts from bandai because I looked and it's kinda expensive to do so.

Balljoints for the hands are fucking tight on the 2.0. Best advice? Pop them out, pin them with a brass rod and superglue back on the hand, sand the balljoint so it's less tight, and put it back in.
>>
>>19394128
The joins on the 2.0 is fucking tight. I got scared putting them in on mine because i thought I built it wrong. Plus the 2.0 uses a much thinner plastic

>Gyanko Full Knight ver

>Handscale Commando

Yeah, i've had one of the ball joints pop off as well. It's a great kit but christ I do not know what they were thinking with those joints. After popping out and re-attaching the hand to the ball, I used a model file to sand the inside of the connection.

clusterfucky looking mechs are criminally underrated with a few exceptions. It is a fuckin crime that most of the AoZ kits are P-bandai only
>>
>>19394344
Sometimes I think AoZ goes too far. But or a line that everyone bragged about being cheap and with so many possibilities of customization, the results of the group build were kinda underwhelming, definitely expected more builds like yours.
>>
>>19394337
By "female figure" I was referring to the proportional type of figure, not the toy type of figure. As in you make the female figure using plamo parts you have lying around, not just slapping plamo parts onto a Barbie.
>>
>>19394350
I think a lot of the issue is how many parts packs you need to get cause each is so small, and the limited stock many places only had of them. plus i think most of the entries in there look like they put the main emphasis on quality of the build as opposed to "how many fucking parts can I stick together onto one mech without it getting to heavy and falling apart" which is what I have been doing

>>
>>19394471
You won't be alone. I'm intending on bashing this and a unicorn together but the proportions are going to be sketchy. So I'm probably going to mix in SD parts to accomodate the chest/headgear. But the challenge will be worth it. I think everyone who participates will probably learn a lot if they dont do the bare minimum.
>>
>>19394505
My biggest issue is that I want to make an MS have more feminine proportions, but I don't have a lot of parts on me.
>>
>>19394508
I see, well depending on where you want your proportions I would follow the old ms girls as a guide. In this case rounding out the flouros legs and using the seperation as stockings, the chest piece can be cut into halves that can be positioned above and under the bust. There are ways you can emphasize parts you already have, but its def something I would suggest sketching out if you have the time or will to do so.

Why didn't you recreate this for the last group build anons?

Ah ok, that is a tough one then. I looked at it on dalong and got a couple ideas of where to start. I would probably shorten the knee covers by half or maybe take it completely off and leave the rest of the thigh piece, and then smooth out the edges on the whole leg for a little more roundness. You got a good midsection on the kit, and the skirt/binders can be cut/sanded to make it more visible. It also looks like the parts in pic related can be removed which will help slim the figure here too, and the chest binders can be widened to maybe cover some space if too much is exposed. These are just what I would do though.

Well, today was fun in sorting out bullshit I shouldn't have to.

So back in December, I pre-ordered the GM Sniper Custom with the missile pods, I found it for around 60-70 AUD including shipping and like... yeah sure I think that's fine. Little did I fucking know the shit I'd be dealing with.

Turns out the Seller listed a shipping method that isn't available due to the Coof, and didn't bother to update their pricing structure to reflect that, or bring it up when I first purchased it. So I get a message telling me I need to pay extra for shipping, after I paid already. 15 USD or around $18 or $35 UD for FedEx, which is no. So I go to Ebay, ensure I don't have to pay anything, and tell this guy no.

Now starts a quest, where I ask if they can do Air Small Packet, because Amiami does it, HLJ does it, but they're convinced they can't do it through Japanpost, which says "Yeah you can."

This goes on for a couple hours, until I just fucking start looking for a place I can get it cheap, found TheHangerBay Found it for cheap, decided to throw in some other kits I wanted to get some decent value from this, told the fucker to give me my money back.

So don't buy from KuramaToys on Ebay, they are shit. Don't know about their actual store. Actually checking their actual store the 'great price' I got, was $10 more than what it was on their store. Which is still offering shipping they can't fulfill.

So yeah, fuck these guys.

I need a model kit with BIG wheels
Was thinking about getting one of these but the proportions are weird. I need the wheel to be big in comparison to the girl so it looks like she can actually ride the mecha with the wheel feet

Are the hand scale models still compatible with regular 3mm pegs/holes or are they too small?

If you want bigger wheels Gigantic Arms Rapid Raider or the Frame Arms Second Jive/Wilbur Nine. And Hand scales use 2mm joints.

Oh, so I guess he wouldn't like, for example, Marchosias or Gusion Rebake because they require lots of detail painting to shine?

Honestly, I don't understand how any kit would get high "tier" in such case - they are all plastic models, of course they require delicate handling. And nearly all kits benefits from detailing or panel lining, except maybe selected MG or PG.

Well got a confirmation from Mandarake on a Jinrai this morning, so I'll be building a FAG for the first time for this groupbuild. Got a bit ass-fucked with DHL costing like $10 more than the kit itself, but I think it sorta evens out since I managed to snag the version that comes with the flesh append limbs, and that's going for like $90-100 on ebay right now. Plus I managed to snag some Magic cards for roughly $6 that would've cost me like $25-30 to get english copies of them, so I suppose that evens out the price enough for my tastes.

Also anyone know a good place to get blank FAG faces?

I've never joined a groupbuild before and it seems like I'll probably not join this one as well. But if I were to do so, I'd probably just get a figure rise bust (available here for 7usd) and do something with one just for kicks.
>>
>>19396207
Check dalong or other sits with gunpla reviews. Look for cool design. check review to see if it's shit or not. acquire design you like.

Did a big complex overengineered nightmare last time? Grab a more simple grunt suit to have a relaxed build.

Hell if you're gonna work on some skills you've never used before? Snag a SD/CS kit cheap and do your experimenting on that. Maybe you'll make something neat to put on the thread
>>
>>19394100
So if I have a mobile doll already built (not for a groupbuild) how much of that can I reuse? It would be the torso only, with new parts for the limbs and head, with armor added around the chest, shoulders, and hips. I'd say about 2/3 to 3/4 of the finished product would be "new".

I could always repaint the torso, but I got it so nice the first time it'd be annoying to just re-paint and re-shade it the same colors.

I don't got any red eyes decals and I do not want to order something from Japan as it will take a long ass time to reach here, nothing else I want to get currently, so ordering a single sheet of eye decals with the cheapest shipping will probably take 3 months to get here. It's going to be very challenging but learning to hand paint eyes like this is good practice

>>19396287
I wish you the best of luck then. My only advice would be to invest in a tiny brush and look up tutorials on how to paint them as there are a surprising amount out there.
>>
>>19396288
Use a MS with naturally outward jutting upper torso. The unified boob is valid. Worked for Dot Matrix, can work for your gunpla.
>>
>>
>>19396207
I always liked the Jinrai the most out of all the FAGs released so far, so that was an easy choice as to what to do. The idea I'm currently running with is to paint it greyscale similar to the Frame Arms Jinrai so I can use some Digi-Camo waterslides I bought a while back on it, then build a custom rifle and maybe a scarf.

>>19396253
You can use any kit that you've got already so long as it hasn't been part of a prior groupbuild.

goddamn i've wanted one for a while. theme/colour coding plamo shelves, and there is a pink shelf, which is a surprisingly fun shelf to build. would love a farsia to go on it. also a concert zaku, but i doubt that will EVER see a rerelease. maybe, MAYBE it could see a new version but be p-bandai or something. but i could see farsia reissues, especially with it being the AGE 10th anniversary.

Thank you. We have similar taste. I can't stand the spindly looking fuckers, they look like shit. What's the name of the one in the middle that's white and red, behind the tanks? The green and yellow one with the eagle shield on the right? And then the bottom center one?
I think I actually have and painted the green one with the hazard paint too but can't place the name, same with the big missle pod fella.

Armored Komodo amaranth and chrome+ pigments over Vallejo black primer. Anyone have any experience using these kinds of pigments? Any advice to improve the finish, make it smoother? I don’t have their gloss black primer, and I didn’t get good pigment coverage when I used Vallejo’s gloss black model color or gloss varnish. Anyway, I rubbed the pigments in using my finger (black nitrile glove) about 10 minutes after priming and buffed with a 100% cotton cloth.
>>
>>19398172
the thing is, if you want chrome look you have to make sure the base is smooth as fuck.

I fear that might be my biggest problem right now. I'm new to airbrushing and still trying to find ideal thinning ratios, PSI, etc. I probably layered the primer too thick.

To be honest, not every package gets taxed. It's both random and related to size and type (plastic models are not prime material for customs as opposed to electronics).

However, Polish government plans to tax EVERY PACKAGE since June, so God knows what will happen. In worst case scenario, it will completely paralyze shipping (since everything will require being opened and checked and calculated) or require using "middle men" importing to Germany or Czech Rep and shipping from here.

The lid shouldn't affect your consistency, you're probably not thinning your paint enough, not using the right thinner, or need to adjust your psi. without knowing what your blowing i cant make a clear call.
>>
>>19400209
ok as long as the lid should not be a factor I will play with the other stuff. Thanks.

lacquers spray nicely at 15-20 psi and milky thin.
acrylics depends on the brand. vallejo cant be sprayed in a brush that has had lacquer thinner in it without a thorough wash with water as it reacts poorly and will clog your brush. Tamyia acrylics on the other hand thins nicely with mr color lacquer thinner.

Nice man. Do you have a tight poop cutter?
>>

Whenever I prime I just add a few spoons into the mix. And I've been on a real light, saturated colors kick, but will need to mix things up soon.

actually probably one of the few people who could own it without raising too many eyebrows. "it's ironic, haha!"

okay, i just built the RG johnny ridden zaku II. I like it, but it is a little too bulky for my liking. i see the RG char's zaku II on hobbylink for like 30 bucks. do i take the plunge and do another RG zaku so close together?

Maybe it's CA glue?
>>

>>19400482
its madworks CA black, it has a rubber based filler additive so it fills in things better. I noticed alot of those trendy highly skilled jap youtubers use cyananon which is CA with filler so I thought id start using it too in conjunction with ca accelerator, its great for scratch building, why wait hours to let putty or regular cement dry when you can do it in seconds afterall
>>
>>19400500
That's what I figured - what CA accelerator do you use?
>>
>>19400503
the BSI stuff, its common where I am but to my understanding all CA accelerator is more or less the same, I know tamiya sells it
