A rewrite or just bolting on a few more episodes (supposedly they planned for 13) could easily have saved it, but as it stands the storytelling's pretty flaccid. How much better would the series realistically have been if it kept going after episode 3?The staff also worked on stuff like Iczer-1, Bubblegum Crisis and Genocyber (may be kind of a mess in certain aspects, but there are definitely things to non-ironically enjoy about it), so they could probably have made something pretty good with it's cast and setting if they didn't have to leave it as essentially a 2-hour pilot episode.

They had the opportunity to either continue the OVAs storyline or remake it with the same characters (while extending the storyline), but we got neither of that, and what's even more frustrating about it is that somehow it's still linked and considered as a sequel to the original Dangaiou.
