Federation VS Zeon is what started my fascination with capturing enemy equipment and then using it against them flying your colors instead. I really wish more games did that. I want to get better at painting so I can get some kits of grunt suits and paint them in opposite faction colors

Done a few runs as Casval Neo Zeon and as "Reformist" EF. The build-up phase is really enjoyable on both sides with all the political stuff you can already do even with the Sides and Moon not having focus trees yet to add to it.


For Zeon
With 12 divisions of Mobile Suits (super easy as Zeon) You can grind the Sides and their EF garrisons into dust so hard that by the time you own space you have 5k casualties to about 250k EF casualties. You basically always have enough resources to build whatever you want with Fuel being your only real hurdle since you need to rush your first Space Ship research and start building them day 1 if you want space superiority in 79 with your space fleet draining all your fuel in about a year and a half making space a real rush to take it over. Conquering space is nice and fluid and feels good but Earth has the same hellscape feel to it vanilla Hoi4 has where you need to take over half the world in order to win and their capitals after Jaburo love to swap to Islands like Australia. The ai also ain't great at actually fighting back against 200 Zaku II divisions either. Really need the M'Queve like Earth nation formables so you don't have to focus on 6 different fronts.

For EFSF
Appears daunting at first but once you accept your going to lose all of space except Luna 2 you can start figuring out how you should build up. I've come up with putting as much industry in Islands Nations (UK, Japan), South America, India and China, since those areas are surrounded by Mountians, rivers and Siberia making them fairly easy to defend with the Earth drop points also being fairly small and easy to surround. You will generally finish the RX-78 halfway-late UC78 but will still have some production debuffs to get rid of by the time war starts so will still be low on GM's. Same problem as vanilla and Zeon, baby sitting multiple fronts gets frustrating fast but at least you have naval superiority so won't have to worry about islands after initial setup.

You’ll need three dlcs for the best experience, man the guns for proper ship customization. Whatever is the spy one so you can use Miller and actually get special events with that stuff and the victory one(can’t remember so AI can use MS. This one is most important and is actually on the mod page)

The latest update seems to improve the ai at least, I know I want the other factions entirely because it’ll add more political stuff which is actually really enjoyable and also leave me with a bit less to micro manage early on. Well I guess it doesn’t matter since they plan on splitting both Zeon between the zabis and EFSF between the regional zones
