All the parts just look coldly efficient in purpose. Genesic fits as a final form because now all the parts are animal themed, and not just Gar. The entire profile is really bestial and beefy too. This slims everything down, makes Gar the only animal part and again and just feels out of place because of it. I kind of like the design as maybe a side-grade from Gaogaigar like Gaofighgar was or something, but it doesn't feel like a successor to Genesic at all.

Because these are actually revealed at the very tail end of Betterman I think Hakaioh introduced the Patria and Root of Evil stuff to give Lamia a similar air of mystery about him. I can actually understand this because I do think the mystery angle is core to Lamia's characterization. The alternative to introducing new infuriatingly cryptic mysteries would be to move Lamia's character in a direction that would be very different to the original series. Basically Lamia is handled the way he is to preserve the tone of the original show. I can see why it was done to prevent Lamia from turning into just another Gaogaigar side character.

I think the main issue is that they're trying to have some kind of reason for the two to eventually fight (justifying the VS part of the title) but it doesn't seem particularly necessary. The final battle with Ruin Genesic is plenty climactic enough, and would have been moreso if they didn't have the specter of a Gai/Lamia confrontation to deal with down the road. As for preserving Lamia's mysterious intentions, that could have been tied up with the Deus subplot. Maybe he could have been acting cagey specifically to keep Deus from realizing that Lamia was on to him?Anyway, the point I'm getting at is that the conflict between the Somniums and GGG seems somewhat contrived and artificial, and probably should have either been in greater focus earlier, or just not included in the story at all.
