In terms of standard 22-minute TV episodes how much can $200 get out of a freelance translator?
>>19223978More, if you are just getting it translated onto paper/text doc.Less, if you are getting it actually subbed onto the video.
>>19223978About 3 subbed episodes if there are no particularly difficullt terms.
>>19223978Depends on who you get to translate itBear in mind that just because some have big price tags doesn't mean they're actually accurate
>>19223985>>19224025>>19224060Welp, I can't get Silver Kamen subbed because my parents think blowing $200 for a few episodes of a show is an unwise investment.Yeah it is but it's either that or spending months to years learning Japanese, & I doubt most people have the patience for that.I was then told that if it's impossible to get something on satisfactory terms then it's preferable to not get it at all, which if you ask me is dumb.

>>19224140https://www.fiverr.com/faikhamzaThis guy's the TL that did the Kakuranger and Hurricaneger special videos that thefilmediary just put out. He'll do you 2 Silver Kamen episodes for about $75 (including timing), which is pretty much the best I've seen, and his work seems solid for the most part. I chatted to him when I was looking to get Shiro Jishi Kamen subbed (sadly never managed to acquire the raws) and he seems like a nice guy. If you're not into booze or weed, then it's not the worst way of spending your pocket money!
>>19226387I should add that I recently watched the first two episodes raw and couldn't help but notice the striking cinematography, reminiscient of Akio Jissouji.Looking it up, sure enough, Jissouji directed the first two, although it seems that he personally wasn't happy with them. Worth a watch if you're a fan of his work in toku.
>>19226379You are a bingewatcher. You deserve nothing.
Good news, I remembered I have this one Japanese acquaintance, I asked her if she could help me sub the series, she said she COULD, but it'd probably take a long while, which I'm fine with, no matter how slow it is it's at least getting somewhere.
Not sure if I'm feeling like Dogengers after first episode. I just don't know what to make of it but I didn't think it was particularly funny. Should I keep up with it?
>>19227182>Should I keep up with it?Is this a rerun of /krg/?What's with people watching things they don't like?
>>19227194I don't base my opinion on shows from the first episode alone and I love toku comedies like Carranger, Changerion or Akibaranger. I don't like Den-O, though, and it's what it reminded me the most so far.
>>19227240If the first episode doesn't have anything that interests me, I drop the show.>I don't base my opinion on shows from the first episode aloneSounds like you answered your own question then.Personally, I think Dogengers is great, and the best toku show that aired this year.
>>19227246Some shows take some time to figure out what they want to be. I don't quite get what this show is trying to do so far, feels very average as far as super hero parodies go.
>>19227182I'd give it until the second episode at least, I didn't feel the first episode either. Though, for what it's worth, I didn't find the show consistently funny - it got a few good laughs out of me like when Yamashiron laments not having money, but mainly I liked it because the characters and their interactions are very charming and the show has a lot of heart.
>>19222477It's been like 16 yrs since last time I watch Changerion, did they ever explain wtf Brader is?
>>19228439No.
>>19228460Thanks Inoue
>>19227182I think you might be watching it expecting a comedy - it lampoons some classic toku tropes, but it's not After V or Akibaranger.
>>19227240>ChangerionChangerion is light-hearted, but it's not a comedy/parody show
>>19228439That would require it being a good show instead of a meme people like because wow wacky

A revelation. So I mentioned that I contacted a Japanese acquaintance who can help me sub Silver Kamen by writing down all the Japanese lines for me to then translate. But it just occurred to me,The Barom-1 toku has 37 episodes. The first is subbed, and episodes 3-14, 17-28, & 31-37 have free Japanese scripts available. The only unaccounted for episodes are 2, 15, 16, 29, & 30.AND NOW I DON’T KNOW WHICH SHOW I WANNA DO MORE.
>>19229932>AND NOW I DON’T KNOW WHICH SHOW I WANNA DO MORE.I rather think you'd be more likely to get this acquaintance of yours to help with five episodes of a show than a full series. Also, don't forget DFF did 22-24 and HnT did the 'theatrical featurette', which is just a TV episode (14, I think) in widescreen.
>>19229975I just asked her opinion on the matter. So I’m sure we’ll see how this turns out when her time zone allows for it.
So I want to get back into Garo. Probably starting with rewatching the first series. Are there any series that I should out and out avoid?
>>19229467Early cancellation (cut short by ~10 episodes), so Inoue just doubled down and dialled shit up to WTFtown. I loved it.
>>19229990>when her time zone allows for itWhy would that matter? Shouldn't her translating work whenever? It's not as if she needs to live translate it.
>>19230160I've seen people say that Gold Storm is bad, but I didn't think it was that bad.
>>19230344I mean, when it’s daytime in her time zone so she can give her opinion on the matter.

It's all on this channel:https://www.dailymotion.com/SagaKai/playlistsBetween the characters sparring, transformed fights and giant fights, it's pretty action-heavy anyway, and the plots are easy to follow (I double check here https://blog.goo.ne.jp/kamekichi1964/c/2ae08c9c0623175d91cd80535ddc7039/2 after each ep just to make sure I've not gotten the wrong idea, but I've yet to misinterpret an episode with next-to-zero nihongo)It's a cute show, some familiar faces crop up as guests, the action is super fun (the team all put in a good show, with fight scenes often panning across multiple members fighting in one shot without cuts - even the kid, Ippei, is a great physical actor and they do some really fun fight choreography with him, along with chasing him with a fucking car at one point) and some of the monsters are just batshit crazy designs, look out for a monster I've nicknamed "Birddong" (You'll know the one) in an early episode. Also, the things I'd do to this space-milf...

>>19235869Yes.
>>19235263You should upload the Making Off disc too.
>>19235869I'm a fan of Amemiya's movies, and the episodes of Garo and Makai Senki I checked out had a mood and visual style I enjoyed, but it all felt a little distractingly edgy. It has a lot of fans here, though, to the point where I definitely recommend watching some and seeing what you think - I might give it another go myself at some point; it wouldn't be the first time I've turned around on a series/franchise.
>>19235410even as a kid watching star wars and it's chromas i always felt something was off

>>19238006yea meant the prequels, the classic chromas were well done, although iirc all the remasters made them look as bad as the prequel shit given how autistic lucas was
>>19239508Happy New Year you fellas. Hoping some good shit comes out way this year.
>>19239648I pray that for such a momentous occasion, somebody will finally rip the freaking DVDs &/or blu-rays! The only person who ever did, did so as a remaster of the French dub, which only used 35 of the series' 63 episodes, and even then, while it aired the first 20 episodes in order, several episodes were skipped after that, going straight from episode 20 to episode 25
I gave up my attempt at subbing Lion-Maru.But I recently decided to UN-give up.Now I have the first 3 episodes subbed, off of Brazilian dubtitles that is.Check them out here if you want.https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL9yHLQpR8xZ-Hy36pdCy9-qiF6l6yleNrMore should be on the way in the near future, so stay tuned if you're interested.
>>19240703>But I recently decided to UN-give up.Why's that?
>>19240763It's not unreasonable to say that having to type out every single line into a translator (said lines often containing letters that aren't on my keyboard & which I have to individually copy & paste from other sources) got pretty annoying pretty fast, on top of the fact that the show wasn't particularly grabbing me.But now, I've found a way to translate it way faster, so that's a massive load off of me.
>>19240810I appreciate the effort, but I just can't pretend to be okay with subs that have no passion behind them.
>>19240904What do you mean?
>>19240908You don't even like the show you're subbing that much and you're trying to get it out of the way as quickly as possible on top of that. That's what I mean.
>>19241023>doesn't complain about the fact that it's a translation of a translation>doesn't complain that it's a machine translation of a translation>instead complains about the copy/paste process being streamlinedTalk about a strange hill to die on.I'd personally have the problem with it being a machine translation of another translation, instead of a fresh Japanese to English translation done by a human translator.
>>19241086Would you believe that I actually do have a problem with those things and I didn't actually think to say it outright?
>>19241097Yes, I believe those things. I didn't want to be the jerk to tell the fandubber to stop wasting time on a machine translation either.
>>19241108I think I've become numb to the whole Portuguese to English machine translations problem thanks to the three times it happened to Goggle V and when it happened to Jiraiya.
>>19240703Glad to hear, dude - it'll likely be a long time before it gets any other fansubbing attention, so your work'll let more people check it out until that unspecified-or-never-to-arrive point.Did you ever hear back from your friend?
>>19241461Unfortunately not yet, but hopefully I will, & I’m really excited to work on Barom 1 because I have actual Japanese scripts for all but 3 of the series’ 35 episodes, and it’s a show I’m slightly more interested in.Now, I’m sorry for my phrasing earlier, I’m not completely apathetic to Lion-Maru, I think it’s a decent enough show, even if it’s subject matter isn’t especially my thing, and more importantly, I think it deserves to be enjoyed by English-speaking audiences.
>>19240703>>19241512For what this is, it's not bad. I'd prefer a fresh Japanese to English translation, but it's not anywhere close to the word diarrhea I've experienced in the past from some REALLY bad fansubs. My only suggestion might be to make one more proofreading pass to fix some minor spelling errors. On the topic of typesetting, I think the yellow with the super bold outline is a little bit on the ugly side. That's just my preference though and not necessarily something that needs changing. Also, do you have plans to release softsubbed mkvs or the subtitle files at some point? The latter would definitely be appreciated on my end, so I can use them with the BDrips I've got.
>>19241688Thank you, and I unfortunately have no idea how to make MKVs, and I prefer hardsubbed MP4s because they can easily be streamed on any platform, but for future projects I'll see what I can do,
Also, Solbrain has a complete English dub, produced in The Philippines in the 90's, it's now been preserved thanks to The Apollo Dub Archive, & as we speak I'm remastering the first episode to the DVDs.
>>19241775The problem is that, no one can fix your subs, or use the timing for their own subs. Because your subs are part of the video file now, instead of being something placed on top of the video file.
>>19241928Sincerest apologies.
>>19241512>I have actual Japanese scriptsI will warn that, in my experience, translating Japanese scripts as a non-Japanese speaker is an inherently tricky business. Even with the help of some baby-level tourist Nihongo, I was translating every line with the help of at least three machine translators, along with endlessly browsing language-learning forums. As Japanese is a bit vague and context-reliant I found that, particularly for exposition, it helped to write down a multitude of potential interpretations of lines I was unsure of, which I would then whittle down and revise to one I was confident in as the context became more apparent from the rest of the episode and my concurrent language research. I also found scouring the 'net for every scrap of relevant info on the media in question for cross-referencing purposes very useful. That's not to put you off - it's good fun, just challenging.>>19241775>I unfortunately have no idea how to make MKVsMKVToolNix can whip you up softsubbed mkv in seconds - you just drop in your video source and sub file and start multiplexing. If you share the sub files, >>19241688 might even be a star and mux some versions with the BD raws they have.

>>19243246Wait, how are you putting the subs together before hardsubbing? You should have scripts anon can use, unless you're using some software I've not encountered?
>>19243634Hmm, what's going on with those subs? I've just checked against the ones I have saved and they've clearly used the old TVN subs as a basis, but worded them worse *facepalm*, and just flat-out skipped a bunch of lines. They've also used the same raw source as the TVN version, but limited it to 360p, rather ironically making the TVN version look comparatively attractive....but yeah, Dogu-chan is a cute, light-hearted toku.

>>19243796The fandubber is retarded, and instead of learning the right way, he just bumbles his way through the halfassed way.

Well, my acquaintance is unfortunately too busy to help provide scripts for the 3 episodes of Barom-1 that don’t have them. But it’s fine, I’m sure other means will be made available in due time.
>>19244492What about the Lion Maru scripts, my dude? There's the potential to make nice, BD-quality versions of the first few eps - it'd be a shame not to.
>>19244531I don't use a script for my Lion-Maru subs, what I do is I convert the original DVD ripped episode to an MP4 because Sony Vegas 13 can't support anything that isn't a MP4, & I just put in the subs as I figure them out, I don't save them anywhere, it didn't occur to me until now that I would need to.& I make the subs in the first place, by making a text event, & copy/pasting & then editing it for each line. This is also a factor in why I don't do MKVs, if Vegas 13 can't support them, then clearly it can't make them either.
>>19244621Haha, you're definitely doing things a little differently to most! I have no experience with Sony Vegas but, from a quick search, do you have the option "Tools | Scripting | Export Closed Captioning for YouTube"?

So what does everybody think of Ambassador Magma?People who grew up with it can't get enough of it, & it's considered a classic wherever it aired. But I saw some of it, and didn't really get the hype, I like the premise and characters alot, but I found myself irked that they seemed use just about any means possible to stop the monsters OTHER THAN having Magma/Goldar fight them. Like, actual fights in this show to be very few and far between. But I do really want to like this show, so is there something there I'm missing, am I not looking at it with the right mindset?
>>19244912>Its not good if you compare it to mainstream bigger budget series. In what aspect? >>19235869I don’t like Garo, but it has a massive following so it’s worth a try.
>>19245486Yes
Finishing Juspion with around 10 episodes left.Somewhat disappointed in the series after all the hype. It's not a bad show, but not really on pair with the best Uehara-written series and certainly a step down after Sharivan and Shaider.
>>19244766Nothing to do with the Portuguese subtitles. I mean, can you try to use that option to export an srt file from YOUR subtitles. Apparently, that's something Vegas can do, and that's all we'd need to start making BD softsubs.
>>19245403It's cute and well-made but, beyond the novelty of a suit-acted idols, Geed's actor being in it and Sakamoto being attached, I wouldn't say there's much there to discuss for a toku fan.
>>19245441>don't look like they're baldWhy would robots need to look like they have have hair?
>>19246508Look at the blue one, there was an attempt at hair, it just that it's done in a way that keeps the head smooth in a single shape at the top, hence the "bald" look.
>>19246653They don't have mouths or nostrils, but your issue is that they don't have a hairline?
50th anniversaries this year.
>>19246760>>19246760>Mirrorman>Silver KamenI'd forgotten the OG series of both were '71. Definitely gives me a push to follow through with a long-term aim and sub REFLEX and Die Silbermaske this year. I just wish I could get https://nyaa.si/view/437745 to download past 53%, as I'd rather use those than Dailymotion rips and I want to include the special features.
>>19246760>Suki! Suki!! Majou SenseiI'd love to see more of this series, especially when it supposedly turns more henshin hero and MotW at ep14. Yoko Kikuchi was such a cutie pie, too - what happened to her was fucking tragic.
>>19246795Yeah I read about that too, RIP. Andro Mask was the inspiration of Poitrine or even most of magical girl anime if I'm not wrong, it predated Cutie Honey.
>>19246795I wish I hadn't looked it up. Makes my blood boil.
>>19246787I really hate having to ask free work of others, but since you seem to know Japanese well enough, could you not translate but simply make Japanese scripts for episodes 3, 15, & 16 of Barom-1? Because with that I would be translate the entire series! And if you’d like to be credited I will do so.
>>19246874I am very sorry if that was unread for me to ask of you.
>>19246880Unreasonable, I meant to say unreasonable.
>>19246874Also I misspoke I actually meant episodes 2, 15, & 16.
>>19246787Very late 1971 for that matter, most episodes came out in 72
>>19246874Very sorry, my friend; I'll be paying a translator - they're both short enough that, even with the interviews/making of (which are generally just as interesting to me as a fan of the medium), I can just about justify paying for it.>>19246851It's super sad - at least she'll be remembered for her part in such an influential series. I enjoyed the two subbed episodes released on TTW, I hope that someone decides to work on it in this anniversary year (that, or I stumble upon a source of unlimited money).
>>19244984I've only seen a few raw episodes, but I enjoyed the cinematography and effects, particularly the use of matte paintings. It just seemed to be a very well-made show.
>>19246333>certainly a step down after Sharivan and Shaider. The rest of it is. Watch Gavan.
>>19247025Alrighty, that's totally fine, thanks anyways.
does the Hakaider blue-ray have English subs or only an English dub.also is metalhed worth a watch I want to find more cyber punk toku but I think I have seen everything that has been made
>>19247134Already did. It was good, but Sharivan and Shaider were much better.
>>19247499The rest of Metal Heroes are a step down from those 3.
>>19247503I've heard Metalder and Rescue Trilogy are good?
>>19247683They are, but not as good.
>>19247499What did you like so much about Shaider? It aired in my country but it's the least popular MH by far.
>>19248066Not him but probably because it's more on the experimental side and contains a shit ton of out of context moments for those unfamiliar with toku
>>19248066>What did you like so much about Shaider?Great soundtrack.Great standalone plots.Great action.Great villains.Good storyline.Good protag.Great ending. What's not to like? Even right now I can sit down and watch any episode and I'll likely have a great time. Something I can't say about Juspion sadly. Also this >>19248120
>>19248149There is also Annie.
>>19248168And Blacked Annie.
>>19247683The first part of Metalder is peak Toku, but the second half is a step down.
>>19245403So I assume the "Characters Coordinate" will also be the suit actresses for the "androids".Honda Tsubasa and Adachi Hiromi.Honda is a member of the BOS-Entertainment stunt team.Adachi is Ultrawoman Grigio.
>>19247683Every MH show I’ve watched has been good.>Gavan>Juspion>Spielban>Jiraiya>Janperson 1-27>B-Fighter Kabuto 1-10It’s all been good so far.
>>19248212https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMKWQ2wrJpo
>>19248257I forgot Metalder.
>>19247683Winspector is meh, Ryoma being so loveable carried it hard
Is there any toku with android/cyborg MC outside from Ishinomori heroes/Metal heroes/Sentai
>>19247274Both. It's MB's dub iirc
>>19247683Metalder is great. But you might see the second half as a step down. Still regardless of the situation it was in nothing seems compromised that much.
>>19247274>>19248471Right Stuf has it listed as sub only. Wonder what happened. Also this means we have a reason to re-up the Bereke Subs version since that dub might not be legally available anymore as a result.
>>19248487Media Blasters' February calendar also makes no mention of having a dub. There's a slim chance it is there but they didn't deem it worth mentioning, but I doubt it.That said though, it's not actually out yet.
>>19244621>>19244737Have you had a go at exporting a script file from one of your episodes, Kiyan?
>>19248784Not yet, I’m a bit caught up in stuff, specifically synching Solbrain’s recently discovered dub to DVD quality.
How's the Inazuman toku? I've only read the manga
>>19248986It shares some concepts with the manga, but is more or less it's own thing. The main characters aren't even the same. The first half of the show is kinda rough, but the rest is pretty good. Inazuman Flash is also really good. Subs never.
>>19247274Is the first Hakaider bluray?
>>19248792No worries, just let me know if you have any success - subbed, BD-quality Lion Maru would be an excellent thing for getting people interested in not just the series but the '72-'73 'feudal Japan' mini-boom in tokusatsu.
>>19249334I would’ve used blu-ray rips to begin with if I could find them. Either way, the DVDs still look really good, P-Pro’s DVD quality was always running circles around Toei’s.
>>19248986It bothers me how the Shonen Domei never really use psychic powers. The writers don't seem to get what espers are. Sometimes there's barely any difference between New Humanity "mutants" and Kamen Rider monsters. There's a lot of things kept in the air about why they're so special and should replace old humans. Inazuman's psychic powers are incredibly random and abstract, it's just whatever he needs to get out of a absurd situation. Show has no rules, they just do whatever they want with it. But there's that one episode Ishinomori directed about Inazuman's mother which is pretty good and the closest the show ever got to the comic. Inazuman Flash is really good but doesn't even feel like the same show.
So, it’s occurred to me, that there (hopefully) must be plenty of unsubbed toku shows with Japanese captions to go off of, not just Barom-1. The question is, where to find these Japanese captions?
>>19248467
>>19249946It's written by Inoue with Kamen Rider as the carbon copy in his mind. Can't really blame him on that since Hirayama wanted a carbon copy of Kamen Rider with a different face.
>>19249964Please stop wasting your time on machine translations.
Is there a 1080p encode of Tokyo: The Last Megalopolis (1988)? I found a remux on rutracker, but it's kinda big.
>>19249968I think you're mistaking Inoue for his father, Masaru Igami. One of the early episodes is a very generic Kamen Rider plot where the scientist guy is forced to work for bad guys by holding his daughter hostage. And then there's a secret formula hidden inside a plush toy he gave her just like in the first Kamen Rider movie. What's the fucking point? It's like back in the 80s when American cartoon writers would recycle the same script into multiple different series for a quick pay check. Ishinomori was not very happy with it either, he said Inazuman was made "too early" and 70s special effects couldn't portray Inazuman powers in a convincing manner. The show also suffered from low ratings and the only reason it lasted for as long as it did was because the Raijin Go toy was a surprisingly hit for Popy. No wonder Flash was made by a completely different staff held by Shozo Uehara and dropped all the plot points and supporting cast from the first series. It was not your standard second season, it was a complete makeover disguised as a follow-up series.
>>19249985Machine translations are fine for 70s toku, I would take that over nothing.
>>19250005How much Japanese to you know?
>>19250009I've picked up just enough to be able to recognize when dialogue doesn't match subs at all.
>>19250018First, we know you don't know any, which is why you are machine translating.Second, I wasn't asking you.
What are some of your favorite MOTW galleries in /otg/?Byclosser’s robots are fantastic, and what’s crazy is that it’s the same suit reused, yet they made every monster so vibrant and full of personality (especially the later ones).Other favorites are mine are Spectreman, Iron King, and Metalder.
>>19249946Who honestly refers to psychics as ESPers?
>>19250009Enough. There's not much in terms of plot in these old shows. And there's not many people willing to do a proper translation of them. Even some official translations like Generation Kikaida are only a few notches above crabsticks. The only thing I can't accept are pure guess-subs and made up shit like the ones Kingmenu does. Anyone with basic Japanese skills can tell that's just one guy looking at the images and coming up with dialogue on his head.
>>19250022I don't know ENOUGH Japanese, pretty different than not knowing any of it.I wouldn't be doing any sort of translations at all if that were the case.
>>19250035What he said.zAnd yeah I saw their sub of Rainbowman's first episode, how do you even fuck up that badly?!
>>19250035>some official translations like Generation Kikaida are only a few notches above crabsticksYet you want something on par with crabsticks, instead of a few notches up. Maybe even worse than crabsticks.>>19250036>I wouldn't be doing any sort of translations at all if that were the case.Spoilers: You aren't.
>>19250029Japan did back in the day. There was a ESP boom over there a few years later. Some Japanese sci-fi writers like Sakyo Komatsu used the term and so did Ishinomori himself. It doesn't really matter but I was never much of a fan of the term "psionic" like they usually translate it in English.
>>19250050Crabsticks are literally machine translations. Usually translated into English from bootleg Chinese/Thai subs instead of Japanese ones, which is the main reason why they're so bad. If the translations come from Japanese and revised by a actual human being, it would already be one step above crabsticks.
>>19250090Too bad it's just machine translations being done by a fandubber then, so it won't be a step up from crabsticks. In fact, that's what the fandubber's group should be called, so no on thinks that the subs are actually good.
>>19250096Well, he should just be honest about what they are and let people decide if they want to watch it or not.
>>19250119Yeah, that's kinda already what I'm going for.Hell, my YouTube uploads of my Lion-Maru subs literally say in the descriptions,"These subtitles are largely based on Brazilan-Portuguese subtitles, that were themselves based on a Brazilian dub, dubtitles in other words, due to this, the subtitles might not always be entirely as accurate as they otherwise could be, and I apologize for that, but I nonetheless hope that they function well enough."
>>19250000Igami Masaru is still a Inoue. In Inoue Toshiki's book about his father he mentioned about Hirayama spending nights at his home talking with his father on making "generic scripts" for new TV shows just to get ratings. It is a fun read on how things where planned out back in the days.Side notes. Inoue Toshiki's brother is also a writer in different field though. His niece(s) are also writers.
What's everyone's opinions on Demon Hunter Mitsurugi? Like, what's it got going for it besides the novelty of being made with stop motion?
I've been watching Garo in production order, I'm half way through Raiga's story and liking it so far, glad to see the original continuity getting some continuation. Are Retsudan or the Zero spinoffs any good?
https://nyaa.si/view/1248002So, I just found out there's a place where you can download the entirety of the 1969 TV show 009 no 1 Flower Action, an adaptation of Shotaro Ishinomori's 009-1. Sharing it here since it's probably one of the most obscure Ishinomori shows out there. (Torrent on Nyaa says it has no seeds, but seedcount might not be accurate. Bottom of the page still has DDLs that 4chan won't let me post since it thinks it's a spam link)
>>19250845Seeing as stop-motion was a mainstay of the films that led to the kaiju boom, yet was supplanted by suitmation in Japan, it remains quite something to see a toku series go back to that expensive and time-consuming yet rather captivating art. It's also the only feudal Japan toku that we have full subs for.>>19251205I watched episode one a while back, and it went from a swingin' West Side Story-esque rumble to campy espionage flick hijinks - it's a funny one.
>>19250845> noveltyIt's practically one of a kind.
>>19251123Should you have watched at least Zero Dragon Blood if you are following the production order?I think both Zero shows are good, the first is pure Kaneda Ryu, so it depends on whether you like his style or not. Dragon Blood is great aside from the main actress, who is so bad it actually ruined the show for some people.Retsuden is an anthology series, which is a concept I particularly enjoy and would have loved to see a second season.
>>19251838ah shit, i'll go back and watch that then. Thought it came after Makai no Hana.
On the topic of Garo, which group did the consistently best subs for it? I don't mean to start a thread-derailing debate but I was initially only able to acquire TV-Nihon's subs and while they're serviceable I've heard there's better ones out there
>>19252077https://nyaa.si/view/1238597I don't watch Garo, but I can search via 'most seeded' on nyaa - here you go
>>19251205009 Coomer Edition
>>19251205The manga is apparently in the same universe as Cyborg 009.
>>19251205It doesn't have much in common with Ishinomori's manga. It's more of a Charlie's Angels affair, with no cyborgs or titty guns.
>>19252312>009 Coomer EditionI made this post as a joke, but now that I am watching the first episode...It really is 009 Coomer Edition, feels very much like Charlee's Angels, as the other anon said.
>>19246787>REFLEXI skimmed the Dailymotion upload. That's early 2000s as fuck.God I wish it was subbed.
>>19252613I'm pretty sure it predates Charlie's Angels by a few years.
>>19252984Holy shit Ishinomori, you were too good for this world.
>>19249334>>19249810The blu-ray torrent is actually pretty easy to find on nyaa, just copypaste the Japanese title into the search bar. That's how I got them. Also, I've been working at making softsubs but it's been a lot of trial and error while I get the feel for things. I've been meaning to learn how to use Aegisub and I figure this might be a good opportunity.
>>19253311I could've used blu-ray rips THE WHOLE GODDAMN TIME?!
Would any anons be willing to do a solid and get the mp3 for Dharuriser's ED?I'd do it but atm I have no cash to burn on an Amazon.jp card right now.https://www.amazon.co.jp/Arcier-White-Re-birth/dp/B072M8RX12
Just finished Changerion. Absolute masterclassThe insane last episode, the Gauzer becoming emperor two-parter, Akira's second secretary leaving before the finale, that weird meta TV episode, everything about The Blader... what a fucking weird, stupid, and occasionally delightful show. So many questions I have about the behind the scenes. Why did the chief stop appearing for 20 episodes straight and come back unceremoniously at the end? And why did Inoue write a crazy monster villainess throwing a manhole cover here 20 odd years before he did it again in Zi-O? So fucking weird. I'm going to watch Tekkakou Mikazuki to try and cleanse the palate after that.
>>19253409Yeah, if you were smarter about things.
>>19253483Short answer: the episode count got slashed and they basically scrambled for SOMETHING to end the show on, since the original plan was to have the show lead into a follow-up with a new character and/or potential new Changerion form.
>>19253516Forgot the link and picturehttp://www.radiotoon.com/CG/CG-sec2.html
>>19253516>>19253517that looks nice enough, it's no surprise for me the show never caught on though. It was interesting they debuted the 3 general characters so early on when all of them but Zandar wound up being essentially MOTW. Rare to see a show just completely implode on itself like Changerion. Still a lot of fun to watch though
>>19253517I like the commentary on the villain commanders here."But I was surprised that I died suddenly. If you don't need a character, don't put it out from the beginning."The actual tokusatsu elements of this show (monsters, battles, lore, overarching plot) were so neglected in favor of wacky sitcom hijinks. I enjoyed Akira and Hayami goofing around but I imagine if you're Sega sponsoring the show you have to be baffled at what Toei did with the concepts.
>>19253493I recognize and apologize for that being a really dumb oversight on my part.
>>19250845Donate your body to science. You lack a soul.
>>19253654Huh? What'd I say?

>>19253689It looks awful, but I would’ve watched it because I’m desperate for an English Lion Maru.
>>19252984No one was saying it riffs on Charlie's Angels, the comparison just describes the feel/setup fairly well
Another video of Samurion, with a Japanese actor?https://youtu.be/QVH9rK2sirs
>>19253311>I've been meaning to learn how to use AegisubIt's well worth learning. The only long bit is timing. The standard tips are; just work pretty much entirely in the waveform view, use the mouse to manipulate your selection, S and D to listen to your selection, A and F to navigate back and forth and G to finalise - with a bit of practice, you can zoom through timing pretty easily with those keys.
Happy 30th anniversary.https://youtu.be/8AlVM2W2cqQ
>>19253952Actually, upon looking at the auction pages for these, it seems these designs were actually done by Yasushi Nirasawa. It seems like the idea was basically Lion-Maru meets Mad Max. Which, frankly, sounds rad as fuck until you realize how expensive that'd be to actually make.
>>19253952holy hell this looks so cool!
>>19254214Thanks a lot for the tips, I'll be sure to keep those in mind in the future. I think I'm mostly done with the script for this episode, I just need to make a few more error checks. I'm tired and hungry right now though, so I'll do it in a few hours.
>>19247499Shaider was probably the most off the wall insane of the Space Sheriff trilogy. Years ago there was a video compilation of all the insane shit from like the show like Satan Claus and the hooker loli but I can't find it anymore.
>>19253689>>19253952Could be chance, but it looks to me like these Lion Maru designs have a more recent common ancestor than the OG series - was one concept possibly adapted/recycled into the other?

>>19254594She was dating Yojiro Fujizawa, an actor who most notably played the human forms of Yamogeras in KR'71 and Sai Tank in V3. He was seemingly jealous of her success an popularity compared to his own career, and had become paranoid that she was having an affair. He came home to find her on the phone asking someone (later confirmed to be her father) to call her tomorrow and strangled her to death. He tried to commit suicide in a road collision afterwards but failed and was imprisoned. She was only 25.
>>19254625is he still in jail
>>19254621>Though it still took fucking agesOh, it's an arse-ache, but it I assure you that it gets better over time.Even with hardsubs there to potentially work from, I recommend having a go at not looking at the video window and just listening to the audio and looking at the waveform display - it may feel counter-intuitive, but you might find it faster and more accurate in the long run.
>>19254625Well that just makes me quite mad and shouldn't have happened, real shame
>>19254633He only got seven years, so no. He seemingly avoided the public eye since then.>>19254695Another sad fact is that her father was the one who found her, after she didn't answer his call. No parent should have to outlive their child, let alone discover them strangled to death.
>>19254728How the fuck do you only get seven years for murder?
>>19254663I'll try that with episode 2 whenever I get around to it.On the topic of the show itself though, it's a trip hearing Kiyoshi Kobayashi as the show's big bad.

The middle drags, but the last arc picks up and ends perfectly.>SpielbanGood series. Some great action sequences, and while Helvira ends on a wet fart it was a great story. Fantastic group of villains, probably some of the best in MH.>JiraiyaAnother great series. Absolutely loved the ninja angle. Like Juspion the middle slogs on a bit too much and the Demon Clan is a very weak and not-threatening group, but it picks up just like Juspion, and Demost is god tier. Overall amazing show with great action and ideas.>MetalderFirst half of the series is possibly one of the best Toku shows I’ve ever seen. Everything about it is incredible, and the focus we get on the villains is so compelling in ways other shows never explore. The second half has its moments, but it becomes way more by-the-numbers. The finale is a massive letdown, sans Baruski getting some love.>Janperson 1-27Extremely good. If the quality keeps up it might be one of my all time favorite Toku shows.>B-Fighter Kabuto 1-10So far a good show. >>19252707Yeah, it really has that feel, doesn't it? Surprised it hasn't been touched already, having been directed by Kazuya Konaka (main director of Ultraman Dyna and Nexus). I should be getting an episode out this month, if all goes to plan.
Some Wecker stuff I found trawling forums. Not at all up on the series, but I know people have talked about it here and the relevant torrents for both of these on nyaa are dead.Jikuu Keisatsu Wecker SIGHT (RAW)https://mega.nz/file/oBAGCQiQ#b4RSZOfwiV2ZODKoybHrpbKIxvNlrdiGOgVIHqfsxBIJikuu Keisatsu Wecker 1983 (RAW)https://mega.nz/file/hNwBDLCS#e2RwmNGsveUBXlga1CpTLF2juHHzVCJJv9hK1zyaYys
>>19257607Didn't Wecker series turned into stageshow in the recent years?

Is Batman 1966 toku? Has it got the heart and spirit of toku?
>>19257720VHSrip courtesy of rare toku anon, who really wasn't wrong in saying that this one "has just about everything":https://raretokusatsu.wordpress.com/2018/11/25/vhsrip-pretty-executor/>>19257731Those are stageshows, yeah>>19257741Maybe MBE will get around to this once they've done the remaining 4 eps? Here's hoping.Anyway, nice rip and extras here: https://raretokusatsu.wordpress.com/2019/12/20/the-p-man-movie-cyber-doll-0-command/
>>19257750Nah, I've put a few feelers out to people I know at least HAD the files (like the Dailymotion uploader), but nobody's been able to help - someone /m78/ thought it was lost media, lmao.I'll just use a Dailymotion rip for now. It's not at all bad-looking, and I figure that getting part one out there subbed might just draw a raw provider out of the woodwork - I can always remux the subs.
>>19257760The only sticking point for Batman, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, or The Incredible Hulk is that they're American capes.Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with shows like them being talked about here, even if they are technically better fits for /tv/ or /co/. /tv/ only cares about Lynda Carter's tits, and /co/ is just western /a/./otg/ is a better home for them, over the other options.
>>19257838>The only sticking point for Batman, Green Arrow, Wonder Woman, or The Incredible Hulk is that they're American capes.Like Spider-Man?
>>19257846>Like Spider-Man?Toei's Spiderman isn't going to be challenged as toku, but in the 70s there was an American Spider-Man tv series too. It would fall into the same category as Batman, Green Hornet, Wonder Woman, and The Incredible Hulk. I forgot about the show, because it wasn't very good.
>>19257851> Green HornetSome bullshit that this show hasn't seen a complete DVD/Blu-ray release that isn't a bootleg.
>>19257917https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uhrB5MEcEsI wish it got a dvd/bluray.Some countries named the show Kato, after Bruce Lee's character, over calling it Green Hornet.
>>19257824I think I have the raws from back when that tokuraws forum was still upprobably not as good as a fresh encode now would be (looks like there's some occassional ghosting and uncropped black bars at spots), but I can still hunt for them if you want
>>19257956That would be really cool, thanks. If you've got the extras, too, I'd love to do those as part of the release.
Salvage Mice 2011 (RAW)Directed by Ryuta Tasaki, who's directed ...well, a metric fuckton of toku. Quicker to just check out:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryuta_Tasakihttps://mega.nz/file/C1VnwDBB#0UJy5GgDkhbQYhAYbUhPQQzeZuPaaNUhc3LcxBbpF6Y
>>19258034Probably not Sakamoto tier of cool coomer is it?Looks great, and I'm hyped to watch it.
>>19258041Have to confess that I've yet to watch it - just something I came across (poor choice of words, maybe) along with the Wecker stuff, whilst looking for decent raws ofManpuku Shoujo Dragonet. Might give it a watch tomorrow, though. No success on Dragonet yet other than some "720p" CHN-hardsubbed versions on Youku but, from what I've watched, it's goofy fun, the action's on point and I enjoyed seeing Raia/Agul crop up.
