I wish they would have started dual analog support with the advent of AC2. After playing Silent Line and Last Raven with dual analog, I can't go back.

You can setup the controls in PCSX2 to dual analog.

I do that when I play AC3/SL.
>>
>>19053650
Funnily enough, I personally didn't like playing AC with dual analog. Just felt really unnatural to me. I played Nexus and Last Raven with those controls for a month before deciding it wasn't for me and went right back to the default (but with square and O swapped.)

Your arm or cannon will twitch from pointing directly at your enemy to at a point ahead of your enemie's movement when you achieve double lock.

Played a bit of AC3, getting used to the controls now and taking care of the MTs but ACs outside of the arena are still out of my league. Same with timed missions where I have to search the entire map for the last object.

Alright, you should be able to pull off FCS jukes and spiral movement to dodge his Pistol and Chainguns respectively.
It doesn't take too much time to run him out of ammo, after which all you need to avoid is his Blade.
The chaingun you carry isn't too useful in this fight unless you use OP-INTENSIFY, so it should probably be dropped for extra speed.
Even with WS-1 you should stay within 100 units of him when he's out of ammo.
You can see the distance to your opponent next to your lock reticle, it's the small number under the long red line connected to the reticle.

Pay attention to your arms blade stats, that one has the slowest blading of all arms at 1400 Reaction Speed.
95 Energy Supply hurts your Blade Damage as well.
For better Blade stats, try CAL-44-EAS or MAL-RE/REX if you can take the Defense hit.
>>
>>19076304
I'd recommend MAL-RE/REX for the arms as well, for the reasons the other anon said, but also because I think they'd fit the aesthetic of your machine here much better.

I just realized why I don't like other mech vidya. It's the "lock on" system. Even when an enemy is behind you, your mechs still automatically lock on to it. I hate that. It's like you can't hide/confuse your opponent. Is there a gundam game that's like armored core that doesn't do that auto lock on thing.

No.
At that point, AC's button complexity is at the point where it literally can no longer afford to put look and strafe on shoulder buttons anymore. The upside is that those games are better designed around dual analog than their predecessors... after you make a few tweaks to the vanilla button layout.

Could upgrade Arms to CAM-01-MHL to save some EN Drain, in exchange for some Speed.
MLH-SS/RS has higher defensive stats and Max Leg Weight, trading some Speed and EN Drain.
PLS-ROA has slightly better stats overall, if you can stomach Sideways as opposed to Wide & Shallow.
RGI-KD99 lets you spam the ultra-high Heat OB you have there.
CWM-S40-1 has only 2 less ammo for 92 less Weight & 75 less EN Drain, so you could save there.

Atom Smasher, that's a great one. The mission on the bridge was one of my favorites, so I actually heard that song a lot.

Shoot white glint through the walls. If the end of the barrel clips through the wall, you can hit white glint. Reccomend a rifle and sniper rifle. There's two little crevices you can do this from near the center of the map.

It sounds like an exploit. What is the legit way to beat White Glint?

Stay at long range, his missiles will crap out early.
Use Sniper Rifles and watch your aim, don't fire randomly.
If you are far away, he will prioritize getting closer over dodging.
Note that he takes half the damage as other AC targets in missions, this is mirrored by the 5th target in Hard Genocide End.

False.
They have a lower chance to be shot down by Core AMS.
They don't ignore it.
Same goes for most Extension AMS-es, but not for RURI or RENGA.
Test in Vs. mode for yourself to see.
Also it' been too long without builds.

I think it depends what you are looking for, more Arcade-y and plug n play would be AC2 or AC2:AA, which are a personal favorite due to the weird turn of the century atmosphere it has.

For more in-depth gameplay and melancholy atmosphere, AC3 and Silent Line seem more appropriate.

I think the rest of the PS2 games are for fans of those and wouldn't recommend them to a beginner honestly.

>>19112405
How you feel about other Arms like LORIS or Blades like MOONLIGHT?
>>
Some interesting things I noticed while testing various AMS systems in SL.
They only use ammo when they proc against missiles, they override Core AMS, and all AMS systems seem to have 50% effectiveness Vs. Stealth Missiles or Large Missiles.
Decoys seem to work fine against Stealth Missiles though.
>>
>>19112430
More things I noticed while testing.
The chance of a successful intercept seems to be the same as the proc chance, meaning SUIGETSU has around a 53% actual intercept chance.
Failed intercepts still use ammo, but won't destroy the incoming missile.
Decoys can also block your own missiles, which is crazy.

yeah, and other change to that fight is that Otsdarva will no longer retreat or doing his sinking act in that mission when you deplete his AP, he's just said to be fleeing the battlefield. there are some theories that White Glint purposely threw that fight or was sabotaged before the mission, and on Hard mode Otsdarva is willing to screw his plan to kill you because you're too dangerous.

>>
>>19124982
The PS3 was far from garbage, actually. What it was was an absolute cunt to properly utilize thanks to that outrageous Cell architecture, but if you learned your way through its multiprocessor structure you could make that silicon sing.

The bigger problem was that the PS3 was in the same instruction set architecture family as the 360, and so devs who saw their 360 games compile to PS3 with not much issue ended up unwittingly propagating the narrative of the PS3 sucking in the multiplatform department when the unoptimized PS3 code shits itself. Infamous example is Bayonetta on PS3, Sega botching the job and embarrassing Platinum by proxy because no one realized how important the SPUs are in making the PS3 work.

The underground portions felt more like homages to the undergrounds of Armored Core more than anything.

That said, the Exploration mode in DXM? Ok so honestly an entire rougelike could probably be spun off of that mode, constantly looting and plundering and tweaking your build in between floors as you go for long term endurance. It's legitimately a fun timekiller mode for something that's essentially just randomized instant action nonsense cobbled together out of mostly preexisting content.

This kinda works against you in Nexus.
Going into Nine-Breaker you lose the chance to get the 50-shot Burst Missile, and can't get it in LR.
Going straight Nexus into LR I'm not sure about though.
>>
>>19127384

That's gotta be common, I can't either. I started playing AC2 again to start AA, couldn't force myself to play it without an at least almost-complete save from 2.

There is a way to get the part without failing the mission, but it requires near perfect timing.

>>
>>19131227
>>19132496
On a more serious note, here are the reasons I like it.
>Good story with a kind of dark and spooky atmosphere.
>Pretty good selection of parts.
>Introduced many things that have stuck with AC, such as extensions, hover legs, etc...
>Good variety of arena opponents
>Excellent soundtrack, though somewhat less cohesive than AC3's or SL's
>Cool environments ranging from ancient scifi ruins, bases, space stations, arctic areas, deserts and more.
>It's more AC, and that's really all that matters.
The difficulty of AC2 is probably harder than AC1, but not as tough as later games like AC2AA or SL. Not a bad one to start with - it was my first. If you like it, AC2AA is essentially an expansion pack that contains more of the same thing as AC2, minus the story and arena. AC2AA has a really nice selection of bosses and super bosses.
