Do you think Amuro would have survived the first battle in a Scopedog?
>>
>>18779340
Yes because plot armor.
>>
>>18779340
Zaku would stomp him in seconds
>>
Depends on a lot, but I'd assume no.

The only reason why Char didn't kill him in their first encounter was because at the time a Zaku's weapons couldn't even put a scratch on the Gundam , Amuro in a regular ass mobile suit would have been killed in seconds.
>>
>>18779340
Absolutely murdered by the Zaku grunts that found him. Amuro was hard carried by the Gundam plot armor for at least a third of the show before PTSD newtype growth made him start to catch up and surpass the Gundam.
>>
>>18779340
Against the grunts, unlikely.
Against Char, never.
>>
>>18779343
This. If you removed his plot armor though he'd be toast. Scopedogs explode if you look at them wrong, against a zaku there's no chance.
>>
>>18779695

Amuro was catching Char's allies and killing them before they could hit him by episode 3 or 4, and Char himself was the only one that really challenged him after that point until Ral came along. He wasn't getting tagged much by most grunts after the first few episodes.
>>
>>18779349
this, Scopedog have shit armour
>>
>>18779936
Yes, but the Scopedog has neither the firepower to annihilate Zakus in a single shot nor the mobility to not get hit. If Amuro isn't picking off enemies right away then the fights are going to take longer and enemies are going to keep chasing and attacking. And even Chirico never escaped being hit by gunfire, so Amuro's going to get hit here and there by rapid fire 120mm bullets that are the size of his leg.
>>
>>18779340
The real question is whether Kiriko could survive an encounter with a Zaku in his Scopedog?

You know the size difference between a zaku and a scopedog right?
>>
>>18780126
Size doesn't matter.
That's what Fraw said.
>>
>>18779340
Amuro only survived early on because the Gundam is made of plot armor while Scopedogs explode if you look at them funny.
>>
>>18779340
An irrelevant question because if the Federation's top secret response to the Zaku was the scopedog then they were doomed anyways. Honestly, even the Ball is probably more effective than the scopedog at least for space combat.
>>
>>18779936
Don't forget that the Gundam had the self learning computer taking care of fine details of piloting early on. Plot armor doesn't have to mean just literal armor.
>>
>>18780019
Yes. Was there ever any doubt? The man is closer to god that any UC character will ever be.

Would Chirico beat the asteroid base in his first battle if he had the RX-78?
>>
>>18781198
Keep in mind he never used it, has only 16 shots with the rifle, and it's likely too big for the damn asteroid.
Alongside the scopedog with that energy bazooka
>>
>>18781198
he could probably do it with just the vulcans
>>
>>18779340
would the zaku be Scopedog size? or bigger?

So MS sized scopedog? I'd be inclined to treat it like a really lightly armored but high mobility GM or something. Can skate on land and perform hit and run attacks with its machine gun, but otherwise pretty limited.

If you put Amuro in a unit that is tiny compared to his opponents and notably worse than his opponents in pretty much every single way during his first encounter, then yeah, he'll definitely lose and almost certainly die. I wasn't commenting on that though; I was commenting on the idea that Gundam carried him completely for even a third of the show, because within a few episodes he's already starting to outpace everyone around him bar Char and killing most mooks without taking a hit. He starts improving even more around Ral, but he's already visibly improving way before that and even characters in the show comment on it. Including the idea >>18780875 presents, that it was really just the learning computer at work, because when Amuro attributes his success to the learning computer in the one scene it's mentioned during the entire show, Ryu immediately dismisses the idea as Amuro being modest. We also know from a scene in episode 47 when the White Base is just after arriving on Earth that Amuro has put in dozens of hours of training and practice in only the few days it's taken them to get there, which is probably why he improved so much so fast.

Episode 7 even. Have a WebM of the scene where the learning computer is brought up, rather than just me posting to correct my mistake.
>>
>>18783328
I think it's a mixture of both, Amuro had pretty low confidence early on, if I recall, so I definitely think the learning computer carried him.
For handling the grunts so easily, we can probably attribute that to Zeon's soldiers being fast-deployed, poorly trained, and over-confident. Remember that their only real opponents up to this point were Balls and ships, they probably underestimated the Gundam(Something that Char even did at first). Although it's been years since I watched 0079 so whatdafukdoiknow.
>>
>>18780019
He probably would to be honest; if he survived a fucking space station that fell from orbit in SH, I'd say he'd find a bullshit way to destroy the zaku with either his scopedog or his sidearm
>>
>>18783239
That's adorable

>I was commenting on the idea that Gundam carried him completely for even a third of the show, because within a few episodes he's already starting to outpace everyone around him bar Char and killing most mooks without taking a hit.

Yeah but half the reason he can do that is because the Gundam is way superior to the Zaku's in speed and firepower so the average Zeon pilot stood no chance against him.

For fucking real anon,at that point why doesn't chirico just hit a fucking casino if he's got luck like that
>>
>>18787706
It's not like he needs money, and his luck only applies to surviving deadly attacks and attempts on his life, nothing else
>>
>>18787812

Chirico literally has bullshit luck as a superpower
>>
>>18779340
Absolutely not, they're tiny, have terrible armor against anything above anti-infantry weapons, and run on fucking super napalm.
>>
>>18779340
No-one survives a battle in a Scopedog. A Scopedog gives you a negative survival rate. Chihiro gets shot out of them on a regular basis. You could wrap yourself in cardboard, strap firecrackers to your balls, and you'd have higher chance of surviving compared to piloting a Scopedog.
>>
>>18779340
No, the RX 78 basically carried him in his first few battles.

Balls were only developed and deployed late in the war, around the same time the Gundam was. It was ships like the Saberfish up to that point.

>>18784598

I don't think it was. Here's one of Amuro's kills from episode 4 for instance, and I really don't see how the Gundam's superior reflexes or firepower helped in this one. It'd have been just as lethal with a Zaku or Gouf heat weapon, as it was with the Gundam's beam saber and is really just down to Amuro having better situational awareness and reflexes and not the Gundam doing so.

You also have scenes like this from episode 10, where Amuro is just better at evading his enemies, anticipating them and taking advantage of them. Which is something he's been doing since nearly the start, since he was the one to suggest they approach Gadem's convoy from in front of the sun so they'd be harder to see to Ryu, despite the fact Ryu is the trained pilot. The Gundam definitely helped, but Amuro was starting to improve almost as soon as he got in the Gundam, which again, is probably just down the sheer amount of practice and training he did on the Gundam, it's computer etc. as well as just some natural talent for it.

>>
>>18790310
No, itwouldn't because animation errors aside you don't have solid weapons just materialize. Also armor actually helps against heat weapons. A saber that long wouldn't be able to be drawn that way, either.
>>

> Animation errors aside

Good to see we have an authority on the animation in 0079 here.

> Also armor actually helps against heat weapons

Luna titanium was the best armour in the the One Year War, and it didn't do squat against heat weapons any time it was hit by some in 0079. Or 0080 for that matter. I can't recall if there was any instance of it 08th MS Team to comment on it's depiction, if it had any.

> A saber that long wouldn't be able to be drawn that way, either.

So? Amuro doesn't have to be able to draw it exactly the same way for it to be equivalent.
