Still alive edition.

Translation is technically complete, just undergoing revision. AI is doing a QC pass on the script and I'm pretty much redoing all the battle dialogue, this will still take a while.

You can try the translation as it is right now, though we don't have a patch made, so you'll need to modify the game manually. I'll paste the instructions in the next post.

Instructions to patch the game manually:

- we use a tool named GCRebuilder. Just google for it.
- get our modded files here: mediafire.com/file/nihgxgn6hnabrxr/GC_modded_files_20-04-16.zip/file (I THINK this should be all of them; these are mine though, so maybe some of AI's stuff in there isn't the latest version).
- obviously, you need to have the game iso already.
- run GCR, go to Image > Open, navigate to your game iso and select it.
- you'll see the iso's internal files on the right panel. Right click on "root" and extract it somewhere you'll remember.
- close the iso (Image > Close, or just exit out of GCR).
- extract the files from the zip linked above into the root folder you just extracted, overwrite when prompted.
- back in GCR, go to Root > Open on the top menu. Navigate to your root folder.
- go to Root > Save to save the modified iso. Keep the original somewhere else just in case.

Then try playing it. Let me know if you spot any issues. And ideally don't post about this elsewhere just yet, so people don't go looking for a patch that isn't out.

Go into Dolphin's graphic settings, hacks tab, set "texture cache accuracy" all the way down to safe. This stops the issue of text boxes not updating with the next line of text.

Oh shit, I patched the game about two months ago and I've been forgetting to play it despite being hyped for the translation to be done for years.
I'll give feedback once I actually get around to playing it. Trying to clear some of my Steam backlog before playing this. (Or I could start next week if you guys really want the feedback).

Got to stage 17 today and decided to see what the 'Kill Bernie' dialogue looked like, a little sad this line isn't the "nothing left sir, a pile of hamburger" version from the dub. Any chance it could be set to that line? It's rather iconic.

Also the dialogue of the enemy units refer to the 0080 guys as "Cyplops" team instead of Cyclops team in both first and second runs of this stage.

This has probably been posted before, but is this supposed to happen? This tile brings up the info on Shiro's Ball. If I go to where Aina's Zaku II was, it pulls up the movement range of it, but immediately starts throwing out errors. If I choose "ignore errors", it seems fine but it crashes immediately after it tries to pull up the quick-tab of the MS' HP(I assume because the suit doesn't have any stats to speak of).
I'm playing on Dolphin 5.0-12247 if that helps.

How much do you need/want proofreading of the script at this point? I only just thought to start taking screenshots of any typoes or weird phrasings I noticed around stage 20 (I just finished stage 25), I can keep doing that and just upload them all to imgur once I finish the game in a week or two, if it'll help you.

I'm not seeing it listed in the previous thread as one of the bugfixes, but placement of active spirit effects seems to have been altered after updating my GC files using these two links. Notice the "Ac Fo" for Accel+Focus are right-aligned on the bottom row, previously all active effects were left-aligned.

Thanks on the reports! I can confirm that the Kills graphic is caught already on this end, I just try to avoid uploading that image file too often since it's by far the biggest thing due to the amount of stuff packed in it.

On the Spirits, that was an active change here since there were some issues for positioning when left aligning it under some circumstances with a lot activated at once (so mostly for folks with Love).

Still at it with the ZZ crew. Oddly enough, Mondo and Elle have over 100 battle lines each, about as much as a main character, while Roux, Beecha and Iino have around 50 like most side characters.

Except it doesn't affect your evasion rates (or maybe it does, I don't do hit rate calcs), it affects the damage done and damage taken.

How do I know this? The Dragonar Practice Squad was taking 10% less damage than what I calculated.
I'm not sure what the range is, nor if the bonuses are additive, but they are there.

Well when you position people close together, you get a burning symbol between each match, so I figured they stacked, but the boost is definitely not any higher than 10%, so maybe it doesn't.

There's a JP wiki that talks about it and it seems it works somewhat like SRW A (GBA ver, not AP) where it slowly goes up the more support attacks/defends and team attacks you use.

So in the early game, you might have no damage/def increase at all; but at the end game, it caps at 15%

Okay, I did Puru Two's lines yesterday and just now I did both Rommel's and Rakan's, which finishes off all the Gundam characters.
Now, after this there are three files with lines marked as "unused". If they're really unused, I think I'm gonna skip them to make some time, specially since after that it's Kouji's file and he has over 500 lines for some fucking reason. I can always go back and do a pass on those "unused" lines later if it turns out they do show up somewhere.

Tetsuya has like 250 which is still way more than any Gundam character. I peeked ahead and turns out Gou has over 300 lines and Kento has over 400, so looks like the super robot pilots just get more. Might be because they typically have more weapons and there are multiple things they can say when using each weapon.

Yep, I was right. Kouji's first 30 lines are just him firing the Photon Power Beam. That is, each line is actually two lines, he says a thing and then yells the attack name. then it repeats for each weapon, but then I can copypaste the first line each time, so it's not that bad.
Also, an odd thing is that every single character has lines for running out of ammo or energy, but I'm pretty sure you never see those in game. After all, if you're out of ammo you just can't use the weapon.

Technically the enemy can attack you and either an EN-shield or your parts popping keeps you from attacking, but as far as I'm aware, they just use the "They're out of range" line. That definitely happens with the enemy, so I don't see why it wouldn't happen for the player's party.

Well I finally finished Kouji's battle lines. He has like 15 things he can say when he attacks, and you have to go through every variation with every single weapon of every robot he can pilot. He also has a lot of things he can say while dodging attacks or getting hit, and specific variations when being attacked by Dr. Hell or Baron Ashura or any Mechanical Beast, also specific variations for dodging/getting hit while pilot Great or Boss Borot, and even interactions with Nuke and Mucha. They really went above and beyond.

For whatever reason Ashura had two separate files that were almost identical, the second one just had all the lines from the first one in slightly different order. Okay, so yesterday I finished copypasting all of Gou's lines, then AI pointed out to me that there actually is a way to edit all identical lines at once in Dash's battle script editor. Once I figured out how to do that, it sped things up a fair bit. I was able to do both Shou's and Gai's lines today. It might start going a bit faster from now on.

Kay, I did Texas Macks's lines. I tried to keep the Engrish as much as possible, but sometimes it just sounds normal when you translate the Japanese around it. Then other times Mary just blurts out something like "Are you mistake?!", which I just kept as it was.
I also did Gore's lines. I'll try to do Bat, Galilei and Nion (Neon?) tomorrow to finish off the Getter cast, they're not that long.

I figure I should upload my work so far just in case my computer explodes or something. This file contains the revised battle dialogue for all characters from all the Gundam series plus Mazinkaiser and Getter (aside from the generic grunts, I think they come later in their own file). It's not like we're a proper translation group or anything. AI just showed up to save the project from dying when I was here all by myself last year, unable to deal with all the hacking issues.
I've mentioned this before, but I'd like to experiment with throwing subtitled game footage up on the youtubes as a way to translate without having to deal with the technical side of it. We'll see after this is done.

It's just not technically released yet, because there are still occassional bugs and overall it's being polished out.
Give them time, no need to hurry. If you want it now in current state, you can get it without any issue.

Right, somehow I passed over L-Gaim. Most of those series are like 6 or 7 people though, or else shit like Raijin-Oh where there's a lot of people with about one or two lines.

Was a bit busy this past few days, so I only managed one file day. Did Shapiro, Deathgaia and Gildorome. Still Helmut and Muge Zorbados left, and for some reason there's three files for generic Muge grunts that I gotta do before I move on to L-Gaim.
I'm free tomorrow so I should be able to get a few of these done.
