Still alive edition.Translation is technically complete, just undergoing revision. AI is doing a QC pass on the script and I'm pretty much redoing all the battle dialogue, this will still take a while. You can try the translation as it is right now, though we don't have a patch made, so you'll need to modify the game manually. I'll paste the instructions in the next post.Previous thread: >>18517187
Instructions to patch the game manually:- we use a tool named GCRebuilder. Just google for it.- get our modded files here: mediafire.com/file/nihgxgn6hnabrxr/GC_modded_files_20-04-16.zip/file (I THINK this should be all of them; these are mine though, so maybe some of AI's stuff in there isn't the latest version).- obviously, you need to have the game iso already.- run GCR, go to Image > Open, navigate to your game iso and select it.- you'll see the iso's internal files on the right panel. Right click on "root" and extract it somewhere you'll remember.- close the iso (Image > Close, or just exit out of GCR).- extract the files from the zip linked above into the root folder you just extracted, overwrite when prompted.- back in GCR, go to Root > Open on the top menu. Navigate to your root folder.- go to Root > Save to save the modified iso. Keep the original somewhere else just in case. Then try playing it. Let me know if you spot any issues. And ideally don't post about this elsewhere just yet, so people don't go looking for a patch that isn't out.
Final step so you can actually read the text (Since Oppai forgot to include it in the instructions):Go into Dolphin's graphic settings, hacks tab, set "texture cache accuracy" all the way down to safe. This stops the issue of text boxes not updating with the next line of text.
>>18772854Oh shit, I patched the game about two months ago and I've been forgetting to play it despite being hyped for the translation to be done for years. I'll give feedback once I actually get around to playing it. Trying to clear some of my Steam backlog before playing this. (Or I could start next week if you guys really want the feedback).
Wait so the important part, the story, is complete and already playable?I don't care much about battle dialogue aince my basic japanese can understand 90% of it.I will be happy to try it and see if I find glitches and shit.
>>18773085Thanks, I always forget that needs to be said.Finished the Zeta cast today. It's just Kamille, Fa, Quattro and Emma anyway.
Got to stage 17 today and decided to see what the 'Kill Bernie' dialogue looked like, a little sad this line isn't the "nothing left sir, a pile of hamburger" version from the dub. Any chance it could be set to that line? It's rather iconic. Also the dialogue of the enemy units refer to the 0080 guys as "Cyplops" team instead of Cyclops team in both first and second runs of this stage.
I want to marry Sally and spend the rest of my life with her.
This has probably been posted before, but is this supposed to happen? This tile brings up the info on Shiro's Ball. If I go to where Aina's Zaku II was, it pulls up the movement range of it, but immediately starts throwing out errors. If I choose "ignore errors", it seems fine but it crashes immediately after it tries to pull up the quick-tab of the MS' HP(I assume because the suit doesn't have any stats to speak of).I'm playing on Dolphin 5.0-12247 if that helps.
>>18782759Right. I thought Zeta was done because there's an empty file after those, but turns out the one after that is Haman (I guess counted as a Zeta character, even though she's just doing ZZ plot in this game), then Four, then it goes into ZZ proper.>>18782979We could, I guess? I normally prefer to translate what's actually being said, though.>>18783552There are a few instances of that bug. AI already fixed, we just didn't update that file bundle.
>>18784922Haman is usually counted as a Zeta character. I'm not entirely certain why, given people like Amuro and Bright tend to switch up where they're from depending on the game, but that's how it is.
Alright, actually finished the Zeta characters now. ZZ tomorrow.>>18787833Probably not gonna need anything at this point, but let me know if you notice anything that needs correcting.
>>18784922I think they only count Haman as ZZ Haman if she only has her stupid crown get up, if she shoes up in her regular attire without the crown it's Zeta, even if she has the crown later.
>>18790995How much do you need/want proofreading of the script at this point? I only just thought to start taking screenshots of any typoes or weird phrasings I noticed around stage 20 (I just finished stage 25), I can keep doing that and just upload them all to imgur once I finish the game in a week or two, if it'll help you.
>>18791040We got several typo reports in the past thread or two already, feel free to add to it if you want to. I'm not really keeping track of this since AI revising the script, but the threads are archived if we need to check later.
>>18791040The latter half of the game is what'd be more useful at this point anyway, so if you'd like to, feel free! So long as I can see the whole line in either text or image format, I can track down the source after all.>>18783552And yep, this was already handled in follow-up patches in the last thread. For anyone who needs them, install the following in order over the other files from the patch linked in the OP, then rebuild your ISO:https://www.mediafire.com/file/l4lxurnpwc0dtna/Files_Update_Jun_5th.zip/filehttps://www.mediafire.com/file/f36g7v7u5c3ctqz/Files_Update_Jun_6th.zip/fileThat should handle all instances of this bug as it was due to some data being a bit too long, but if you run into anything else after doing so, let me know the stage and what/when it happens!
>>18798819I'm not seeing it listed in the previous thread as one of the bugfixes, but placement of active spirit effects seems to have been altered after updating my GC files using these two links. Notice the "Ac Fo" for Accel+Focus are right-aligned on the bottom row, previously all active effects were left-aligned.
>>18802935For comparison, I loaded up the old file and took this screencap to show off the left-alignment
>>18798819>>18802935>>18802941Playing some more, I'm noticing an issue with the Kills graphic over-riding the Supp graphic, making it unreadable.
>>18798819Not the anon with the Ball glitch, but dialogue seems to be bugged after rebuilding the ISO with the new files.
>>18803333>>18803337See >>18773085 to fix it you hack
>>18804179Shit my bad, I missed it. Take this as an apology.
I had some technical difficulties for the past couple of days, but everything seems to be fine now. Got Judau's battle lines done finally.
>>18802935>>18803010Thanks on the reports! I can confirm that the Kills graphic is caught already on this end, I just try to avoid uploading that image file too often since it's by far the biggest thing due to the amount of stuff packed in it.On the Spirits, that was an active change here since there were some issues for positioning when left aligning it under some circumstances with a lot activated at once (so mostly for folks with Love).
Guess I'll bump this before bed. Elle's lines are done.
Still at it with the ZZ crew. Oddly enough, Mondo and Elle have over 100 battle lines each, about as much as a main character, while Roux, Beecha and Iino have around 50 like most side characters.
>>18819308That was me of course. Forgot my name.
>>18819308Any reason why they have more lines?I see myself using Roux, Beecha over Mondo and Elle.
>>18820983No idea. They just have more shit to say, like multiple variations of support lines for the same characters. Maybe the voice actors were more available.
Puru's lines are done.
So fun fact, there's a trust system in this game like J or W.Except it doesn't affect your evasion rates (or maybe it does, I don't do hit rate calcs), it affects the damage done and damage taken. How do I know this? The Dragonar Practice Squad was taking 10% less damage than what I calculated. I'm not sure what the range is, nor if the bonuses are additive, but they are there.
>>18827964Well when you position people close together, you get a burning symbol between each match, so I figured they stacked, but the boost is definitely not any higher than 10%, so maybe it doesn't.
>>18829781There's a JP wiki that talks about it and it seems it works somewhat like SRW A (GBA ver, not AP) where it slowly goes up the more support attacks/defends and team attacks you use.So in the early game, you might have no damage/def increase at all; but at the end game, it caps at 15%
Okay, I did Puru Two's lines yesterday and just now I did both Rommel's and Rakan's, which finishes off all the Gundam characters. Now, after this there are three files with lines marked as "unused". If they're really unused, I think I'm gonna skip them to make some time, specially since after that it's Kouji's file and he has over 500 lines for some fucking reason. I can always go back and do a pass on those "unused" lines later if it turns out they do show up somewhere.
>>18831855>and he has over 500 lines for some fucking reason. They figured it was the last time the VA was going to voice anything new, maybe?
>>18830885Oh, I see, that's pretty cool, actually, and it certainly explains alot, I like that.>>18831855That...is certainly completely reasonable. Also holy shit, 500 lines? That's crazy. How much does Tetsuya have in comparison? I'd guess somewhere in the 300-range.
>>18831974Right, I guess Ishimaru did all new voicework for this game since they were using the OVA for the first time. Was this his last time recording lines though?>>18832476Tetsuya has like 250 which is still way more than any Gundam character. I peeked ahead and turns out Gou has over 300 lines and Kento has over 400, so looks like the super robot pilots just get more. Might be because they typically have more weapons and there are multiple things they can say when using each weapon.
>>18834438Yep, I was right. Kouji's first 30 lines are just him firing the Photon Power Beam. That is, each line is actually two lines, he says a thing and then yells the attack name. then it repeats for each weapon, but then I can copypaste the first line each time, so it's not that bad. Also, an odd thing is that every single character has lines for running out of ammo or energy, but I'm pretty sure you never see those in game. After all, if you're out of ammo you just can't use the weapon.
>>18835584Technically the enemy can attack you and either an EN-shield or your parts popping keeps you from attacking, but as far as I'm aware, they just use the "They're out of range" line. That definitely happens with the enemy, so I don't see why it wouldn't happen for the player's party.
>>18834438>Was this his last time recording lines though? He had a few more lines in Alpha 3, but given game schedules, release dates, and everything it'd be hard to say which ones he voiced first. Hell, he might have voiced both at once to get it out of the way.>>18836060Enemies tend to have less lines than allies, usually, barring weird exceptions and cases where older characters have a lot of built up shit.
beat the game todaygame goodSince AI said he was gonna take care of the unit cloning issues (and probably already did in the 2nd patch since I was still on the first one) I have no other real bugs to report. Thanks to the team for the TLY'all are real ones
Well I finally finished Kouji's battle lines. He has like 15 things he can say when he attacks, and you have to go through every variation with every single weapon of every robot he can pilot. He also has a lot of things he can say while dodging attacks or getting hit, and specific variations when being attacked by Dr. Hell or Baron Ashura or any Mechanical Beast, also specific variations for dodging/getting hit while pilot Great or Boss Borot, and even interactions with Nuke and Mucha. They really went above and beyond.>>18845037Thanks for playing.
Okay, finished Tetsuya's lines too. He's got a ton of lines for piloting Mazinger Z, but I'm pretty sure you never get the chance to put him in it in this game.
Finished Sayaka's lines just in time to bump this.Interestingly she doesn't have lines for using Mazinger Z's weapons, only Great's. So maybe by the time they implemented her lines they had a better idea of what the game would actually be like.
8 page, goot time as any to bump>>18853189thanks again for your work.
This is the only SRW game I played other than Z2 where Dancouga felt really really strongHe was a real glass cannon in Alpha
Jun and Boss' lines are done.I've been avoiding swear words and whatnot since I think they look tacky and out of place in a game like this, but Boss has a line where he literally tells a Mechanical Beast to eat shit. Wondering if I should just keep that one or try to replace with something.
>>18863989keep it.we are in the age of fatso, we can handle occasional swear word if it was in the script to begin with
>>18863989Keep it, it's at least it makes sense for Boss to say it.
>>18863989Isn't Boss, like, literally a gang member/delinquent? It doesn't feel out of character for him really, hell it wouldn't really feel that out of character for Koji either, they both talk pretty rough at times in some versions.
Really appreciate your work guys
I went over Dr. Hell and Baron Ashura's battle lines to finish off the Mazinkaiser cast. For whatever reason Ashura had two separate files that were almost identical, the second one just had all the lines from the first one in slightly different order. Don't know what the point of it is, it just made me copypaste a lot.Next is Getter.
I'm about halfway through Gou's lines. He has close 400 too. This could go a lot faster if I had some way of replacing all identical lines at once instead of having to copypaste every instance.
Okay, so yesterday I finished copypasting all of Gou's lines, then AI pointed out to me that there actually is a way to edit all identical lines at once in Dash's battle script editor. Once I figured out how to do that, it sped things up a fair bit. I was able to do both Shou's and Gai's lines today. It might start going a bit faster from now on.
Hope the increase in speed doesn't take away from the quality.
Kay, I did Texas Macks's lines. I tried to keep the Engrish as much as possible, but sometimes it just sounds normal when you translate the Japanese around it. Then other times Mary just blurts out something like "Are you mistake?!", which I just kept as it was.I also did Gore's lines. I'll try to do Bat, Galilei and Nion (Neon?) tomorrow to finish off the Getter cast, they're not that long.
>>18888199That's good to hear, keep trucking on.
>>18896195i miss the days when fantranslators would call Galilei "Gallery"
Took a bit longer than I hoped, but I finished the Getter cast today. Next is Daltanious.I figure I should upload my work so far just in case my computer explodes or something. This file contains the revised battle dialogue for all characters from all the Gundam series plus Mazinkaiser and Getter (aside from the generic grunts, I think they come later in their own file). You can throw it into the game iso using the method here >>18772859 and it should work.>mediafire.com/file/u8hl0gxfz17hw75/file
>>18858739It's because Z had a reaaallly cheap guard. Like 20-25.
>>18858739I feel like Dancouga's stupid damage in Alpha more than makes up for it
Finished Kento's lines. He had over 400, but the method to edit all identical ones at once helped a lot. Shouldn't take me more than a day to do any one character now.
I'm sure one of you has answered this already at some point but are there any plans for more SRW translations from this team in the future? Obviously everyone deserves a longass break after all the hard work you've put in on GC but is there any interest in doing another one at some point in the future or was this more just a one-time deal?
>>18913104It's not like we're a proper translation group or anything. AI just showed up to save the project from dying when I was here all by myself last year, unable to deal with all the hacking issues.I've mentioned this before, but I'd like to experiment with throwing subtitled game footage up on the youtubes as a way to translate without having to deal with the technical side of it. We'll see after this is done.
>>18914715>on the youtubes wouldn't count on yt in particular but the idea makes sense
Danji, Beralios and Gascon's lines are done. Beralios had four whole lines, they were all "roooaaar".
Guess I'll bump this for tonight. Only had time to do Emperor Dormen's lines today, I'll get more done tomorrow.
This is never going to be finished is it?
>>18931808why are you saying so?There is already a way to patch the game to make it entirely beatable in English. It's just not technically released yet, because there are still occassional bugs and overall it's being polished out.Give them time, no need to hurry. If you want it now in current state, you can get it without any issue.
>>18931808It has been sort of done for a while, we're mostly doing corrections at this point. Follow the instructions in >>18772859 if you can't wait any longer, it's totally playable as it is.
Finished the battle lines for Kloppen and all three generals today. That's the whole Daltanious cast done, next is Daiohja.
Whoa there, page 10.
8 page bump
>Page 8Can't have that now, can we?
>>18914715I’d love if you did Alpha to fuck with Gideon but realistically a better choice might be a game nobody else has done like W
We are dead
>>18947337No need to be negative son, we're doing fine. I'll be done with the battle lines for the Daiohja cast today, just a couple of minor villains to do.
>>18947941Ignore doomposters, most of us appreciate the work you all put in.
>>18914715So something like what this dude is doing with K?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6aq__QR6fI&list=PLDcSWFTNcxt17rWTTMHCMKmhPaUDcxKIm
>>18947337If you're so dead, how are you posting?
>>18950248Seems like that guy can read Japanese just fine, but his English ain't so good. That's sort of the format I'm thinking, but I'd edit it down more, use chapters and timecodes to make it easy to navigate, maybe do some other stuff. I'd have to experiment a bit first.Anyway I did finish all the Daiohja lines. There was another "unused" file at the end, I'm just gonna hope these don't become a problem later. Next is Dancouga.
Bumping from 8
Shinobu, Prof. Hazuki and Alan combat lines all done. Just the bad guys next.
I'll check back in November to see if the lines are done yet.
>>18955817So tell me if I've missed anything, but:Completed Series:>0079>0080>The 08th MS Squad>Zeta>ZZ (and CCA which shouldn't have anyone)>Mazinkaiser>Getter>Daltanius>Daiohja>DancougaThat leaves Braiger, Baxinger, Sasuraiger, Layzner, Dragonar, Raijin-Oh, and Trider G7, right?
>>18956385See you then, friend.>>18958026And L-Gaim and Banpresto Originals.L-Gaim, Layzner and Dragonar will definitely take the longest, the rest should be fine.
>>18959276Right, somehow I passed over L-Gaim. Most of those series are like 6 or 7 people though, or else shit like Raijin-Oh where there's a lot of people with about one or two lines.
