New AR fag here. Just put 300rd through my new AR to zero my dot and have some fun. Anything specific I need to know about cleaning? Do I need to clean out the gas tube? What's the best way to clean out the locking recess area? After going through my regular cleaning process I use for my other guns, the AR just seems particularly dirty. For the cost of building out another rifle you can get a gen 3 PVS14 with some chinkshit mounting solutions and Peltor Range Guards, and you now have the advantage of being able to see in the dark which everyone else who doesn't have nods can't do. Add in an FL5 for <$1,000 and now you have two means of aiming with nods assuming you have a NV useable red dot of some kind. I'm not saying this is you but it's bizarre to me how people will really own like 5 or 6 shitty rifles that all do the same thing and have no nods, no gear, no food, no comms, no medical, etc. I don't need to spend $20k on 10 guns to go shoot at 25 yards with.I'd rather have nods, thermal, and a drone. Do all that then build out 5-10 basic bitch ARs in case you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to arm your entire family or something.
