>>
You see a lot of posts about what would you do or how would you fight this. A lot of people think war has a fairness to it, if you are individually tough enough then you with your rifle will win. Most people in in the last 100 years of conventional war die from artillery strikes, there never was a fairness and it was never a contest in manliness, the call of duty shit is the tiniest slice of the pie, waking up in the hospital disfigured with missing limbs is the more common result. Drones just mean we can upload the unfairness of being killed by a guy miles away and get a good look at his face in his last moments.

Evasion first and foremost, counter-measures such as jammers, decoys, buckshot for targeting drones in the day like skeet shooters. Tunnels instead of trenches, or converting trenches into tunnels.

It is clear that these WWII style trenches are easily discovered by satellites and drones, technologies that were not in use when trench warfare was at its height.

Take a defensive stance in the day, evading aerial detection. Take an offensive stance in the night, evading aerial detection. Use recon drones in the daylight to scout targets for night operations.

Same as if I were a Ukrainian facing a small drone threat on flat terrain with limited tree cover.

I'm making this analysis from the perspective of expecting to reckon with the same threats in the reality of my own incoming future. Even basic non-NV digital and analog drone cameras can easily discern threats by conventional uniforms.

Yet expensive drones with thermal sensors are still not able to discern the thoughts and intentions of plainclothes citizens, or to easily visually detect fellas in thermal blocking materials.

Chances that he survived? It seems the drone missed (we see a perfect picture of him because the drone drifted past him while rotating, not because the drone flew straight towards him), he was partially in a small hole and the drone exploded against the ground.

>>
>>59589423
why don't they just train birbs to drop grenades instead of spending money on expensive drones? my idea is copyright pls dont steal it nato
>>
>>59589072
No. Shotguns are borderline useless. Not only are drones faster than birds, but birds and clay aren't actively trying to fucking kill you, and instantly maiming if they get within 20 meters of you.
Let's say you're a pro sport shooter and you hear every single drone coming, and you hit 99 shots in 100.
A cheap drone that can carry a nade is barely more than $140. Killing a motherfucker for 15k is still totally cost effective, and that's assuming you are stupidly, unreasonably effective with your shotgun.

The reality is that issuing a ton of shotguns to dudes on skywatch is just going to get a lot of people with shotguns maimed because they didn't seek overhead cover.

Fortifications will have increasing emphasis on overhead protection, SPAAGs are going to make a comeback, laser research will accelerate, jamming is your friend, etc.
>>
>>59589423
No, they often get injured doing exactly that. Grabbing anything with a propellor is a bad time.

>>
>>59589448
A trained bird capable of carrying a grenade where you want it to is way more expensive than a drone.

>>
>>59589883

Ukraine has been receiving military aid from NATO countries since 2014, shortly after Russia first invaded.
>>
>>59589904
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Raid_of_2014
Before any major amount of NATO aid came in. Russia wasn't just going to steam roll Ukraine regardless of NATO aid
>>
>>59589945
Oh sure. I'm not the original guy. I'm just pointing out that their military was in a pretty fucking miserable state in 2014, and they have subsequently gotten good, part of which is attributable to having NATO trainers shipped in. There's no universe where Russia wins the very special military operation, but part of the reason that's true is because of military aid given to Ukraine before it kicked off. It's not like February 2021 rolled around and the entire western bloc woke up and went "Oh hey we had better start doing anything at all to help secure Ukraine!" They had already been doing shit for years at that point.

The implication being that Russia can't cope with Ukraine plus a handful western small arms, ATGMs and drones. If that's the case then either Russia couldn't touch ukraine to begin with, or western weapons are unbelievably more effective than russian ones.

No HIMARS, no Storm Shadow, no M777, no airburst shells, no western tanks or heavy vehicles
