Y-20B with WS-20 high bypass engines. Does this mean that the H-20 is not far away now?
H-20 what is that?Look at poor copy of a C-17...looks like an eye sore
>>57542684>poor copy of a C-17Does that mean it doesn't look like the C-17?
>>57542694I looks like CGI Render from the vaguely American faction in an off brand RTS from 2003
>>57542677>Does this mean that the H-20 is not far away now?Implessive, I expect this means we'll move from the "photoshopped image of an H-6" phase of the H-20s development to the "shitty scale model at a trade show" phase
>>57542677Why on earth would you put a high bypass ratio engines on a stealth bomber? Those things are big and bulky and if you need to cover the front of the massive fan, there isn't any benefit from it. B-2 uses low bypass ratio engine, same engine as F-15 and F-16 minus afterburner.>>57542684>H-20 what is that?Chink stealth bomber project.>Look at poor copy of a C-17...looks like an eye soreIf it is copy anything it is copy of Il-76 with new nose and tail.
>>57544984>B-2 uses low bypass ratio engine, same engine as F-15 and F-16 minus afterburner.Does this mean that the H-20 could use a modified version of WS-10 series of engines then?
>>57545079Why use the WS-10, and not the WS-15?
>>57542677noicecool to see Chinese aerospace engineering advance desu
>>57545079>Does this mean that the H-20 could use a modified version of WS-10 series of engines then?Yes, WS-10 or WS-15 variants would be the logical engines to use on Chinese stealth bomber. I'm fairly sure H-20 will be a subsonic flying wing, but if they went with some sort of supersonic Tu-22-esque stealth bomber, there would be even less reason to go for high bypass ratio engines, drag. High bypass ratio engines are obvious choice on modern airliners and transport aircraft because those are efficient on high subsonic operating speeds of those kinds of aircraft. On transport aircraft and airliners where things like landing distance and ultimate fuel efficiency are more important than speed, turboprops become viable alternative. On airliners that means mostly short haul and regional airliners. One reason why Boeing isn't going to make all new passenger aircraft any time soon is because there are unducted fans under development, they want to see how those will work out before committing to anything, as those might give engine that is substantially more fuel efficient than both high bypass ratio turbofans and can operate way faster speeds than current turboprops. Unducted fan pretty much gives best of the both worlds when it comes to fuel efficiency and speed, bad thing is that you can't mount those on underwing nacelles of low wing aircraft.Last time unducted fans were a thing was in 70's and 80's was due to aftermath of 70's oil crises, it wasn't killed by noise concerns, it was killed because of fuel prices dropped. Airlines simply weren't interested in funding development for about 30% improvement in fuel efficiency by early 90's.
>>57545145this just adds to the overall fatness of this aircraft
>>57542677why are all of your threads like this?
>>57542677Threadly reminder that there are only 37 strategic airlifters in the entire Chinese military
Didn't the Y-20 already used the WS-20 from the start? Or am i missing something. Also Il-76 with WS-20.
>>57545533what are you talking about?I'm here a lot and I don't recognize himare you upset bc he's talking about Chinese gear?it doesn't mean someone is pro-CCP just bc we find Chinese gear interesting btw.>>57545701no, it used a Soviet engine in the beginning
>>57545701The Y-20 still used the Russian D-30KP-2 engines, since the WS-20 was still in Its testing phase
>>57545757So right now the ones flying are a mix of Soviet engined ones and WS-20?
>>57545792The WS-20 is still being tested. The photo from OP is the first Y-20 spotted with full Air Force livery, since up until now It was only seen in the prototype "yellow" livery
Why is building aircraft engines so hard?
>>57545720why are you pretending to be like this? why are all of your threads so low quality and make no attempt at starting an actual discussion?
>>57546444take your meds
>>57546441It requires a highly specialized skillset and knowledge of material science that was developed from decades of trial and error that has been kept highly secret so as to maintain their monopoly on the commercial aircraft industry. You can literally count with one hand the number of countries in the world capable of designing and building aircraft engines
>>57546441Turbines are "easy" to design, mettalurgy is the hard part, China struggled a lot to make the WS-20.
>>57546430By being tested you mean the high-bypass one?Because the J-10 already uses the low-bypass variant for quite a while now.
for me, it's the electronic warfare Sinoflanker with WS-10 engines
