Why the fuck is this knife $200? Because it was designed by some whore? What is the advantage to having a curvy spine on a survival knife?

Important questions of our time.
>>

Because the high end knife market serves soiboy mindless consumers
>>
Suckers will pay it, go to any gun show/flea market/fair ever and gander at the tables of $300 "custom no one alike kydex holster" knives.

Honestly, just don't.
Here are some prices for perfectly good servicable knives that will last you a life-time:

Fiskars Ranger knife M/95 or M/07: 75-85 Euros
Terava Jaakaripuukko 110 or 140: 78-83 Euros
Cold Steel SRK: 60-70 Euros/USD (although I have heard that the steel quality has been downgraded in recent years)

So basically any knife that goes beyond 85-90 bucks WILL have significant amount of "air" in the pricetag. Buying anything over 100 Euros/usd will just be paying excessively for name/brand recognition.

Knives, just like watches and guns and cars (and like restaurant meals or wines) have a point where the price starts to increase but the quality of the products has already plateau'd. And as far as I understand, with knives it's around 80-90 USD/Euros.

The better question is, why did you make a new thread when one's been up since Tuesday and isn't close to the bump limit?

Knife General should just be tool general. Jesus christ. You hoarders throwing hundreds of dollars on super rare ultra meteorite damascus secret recipe carbon steel when there's no sensible reason to use anything but stainless steel, man.. it's so silly. And ignorant.

What cracks me up the most here, is that at best maybe 1 in 20 images users in these thread posts are of knives that have ever seen any use beyond opening Amazon boxes (for other overpriced gimmick knives of course).

Fuck you all. Knife collecting is dumbass consumerism.

Learn how to cast bronze and make your own. It does not heat temper though you need to hammer the edge to compact the molecules or something. Bronze was only replaced by iron because of availability. not better than steel though.
>>
>>57541042
Bronze is shit for an axe.
>>57539788
Just buy an Estwing.

Should there be an Axe/Hatchet General or should it be part of Knife General?
Should you have an Axe/Hatchet or not?
Should it be multipurpose or not?
What have you tried and what has been good or shit?

The axe goes with the antler handled fixed blade below it, knife blades pops out and the axe blade can be seated I'm its place. Largely a gimmick, I've read actually hitting anything with the hatchet is a very bad idea. The combo with the sheath is worth more than the rest of my collection combined though. Still has my grandfathers name scratched into the guard.
>>
>>57545495
the only good karambits are double-edged fixed blade karambits, wielded by someone actually trained in the art

What's a cheap beater fixed blade, full tang knife I can use for concrete work? So cheap that I can use it to scrape off excess muck, dig out forms, ect, I'd choose a Mora Companion but it ain't full tang.

Also, I've head that the retention isn't good on these knives, would it be possible to tighten it with a heat gun and chanel locks?

that's not really that expensive as far as quality knives go why are you so fucking cheap anon lol
>>
>>57546337
If all you need is a cheap full tang beater just go to your local outdoor store and buy the cheapest one they have. It'll prolly be a Smith and Wesson or a SOG.
>>
>>57545033

Im sorry, how many types of steel do you think there are?
>>
>>57546337
Why does it need to be full tang? A $20 full tang Ozark trail Walmart special isn't going to be any more durable than a $10 mora.

Holy mackerel, this knife specifically designed to HUNT MARINES. Marines are *very* dangerous, so a knife built for hunters who hunt Marines must be really powerful!

Mora makes the best cheap knives.
