it depends if what you are going to use them for. They are durable, resoleable, tall, goretex boots but they are heavy and can be uncomfortable. If you plan to hike alot or daily wear them then get something lighter. my prefrence is lowa zephyrs.

4800, 4800LV, SAS Flex Plate, and Blackbeard plates are also uncertified. Most high-end plates are not NIJ certified, for that matter. It's not a requirement. Also the Colossus is rated to VPAM-12, which is a hell of a lot tougher than NIJ Lvl IV.
Shotstop's problem is a lot of undisclosed and scummy cheat rings. Which plates of theirs have ceramic and which have the foam ring? Who knows?

Don't. Just toss the handgun in the trash or if you must, attach to your belt
>>
>>56911189
Is that buttpack attached correctly or is this just a terrible padded belt? I'd get rid of that entirely either way. Get a belt holster and move that giant pouch from your cummerbund so it doesn't interfere with your draw. Put it on the other side if you must have it. You need water somehow, either a small assault pack with a bladder or a standalone hydration carrier.

>>56911212
>Attach back pouch for camelbak
The molle only goes up halfway I don't think he can. I hate whoever designed that plate carrier. Plenty of velcro for morale patches though!!!

>Fuck you, AK is godly.

>>56911251
Yes an no. I didn't realize it was off center when I tossed it on this time (fucking with belt, didn't tighten it) but it's secured to the belt properly. Doesn't get in my way and holds lots of medical shit, but I'm keeping the tourniquet in a easier access bag on the side (and also general storage). Luckily it doesn't get in way of my draw. It's a shellback PC.

thanks for not being a faggot for once, and for the advice, anyway I'm aware of what you say, in fact almost everything I bought I got for very cheap, so much so that some times I bought more and sold it for a profit and paid back what I kept.
the reason I buy us surp is bc it's almost all there is, and it's good, but I wont be paying the airsoft larger tax and pay more to look like le epic muhreensz, it's just that I like American gear bc it's well made, I'm an autist for scrounging good deals so I usually get them at great prices, I like us camo patterns, and most EU sure looks like ass, but as you can see here>>56910681>>56910773 i dont mind buying non us stuff, and all the us surp I bought was not any more expensive than EU stuff almost every time
>>
>>56911476
dont mind the link to the molle pack it was an error I only meant the undies
>>
>>56911476
other stuff I got for cheap is m81 bdus for 20 euros (for jacket and pants, 40 total)

20 euros for British dorm combat shirt

155 for ecwcs lvl7 jacket (not cheap, just a normal price while most I found were overpriced at 200+ and shipping)
molle pouches for 2euros each
goretex m81 jacket for 40
strandhogg for 180

all of these include shipping, thats usuall 8/10 euros unless its from the Uk then its slot bc of import fees
>>
>>56911422
Steel inserts: thousands of rounds shot from a .22 minigun
Ceramic: a couple dozen maybe a hundred before the plates disintegrate enough to let one through.
>>
>>56911558
What about soft armor?
>>
>>56911367
I don't mean it's not centered I mean the way it's sagging. I guess your belt is just floppy.
>holds lots of medical shit
Can you access it? That's a fuckload of first aid. You don't need a whole medic bag if you're not a medic.
>Luckily it doesn't get in way of my draw
Yeah because you are using a drop leg holster. With a proper holster that will probably become a problem. What do you even have in there besides the TQ? Also your TQ's should be more easily reachable and you need to be able to get to them with both hands.
>>
>>56911422
If you can get that many shots off on them then why not aim somewhere other than their vest?
>>
>>56911566
I've probably got more medical training than your average person. I've got trauma pads, shears, various bandages, clotting agent, gauze. Basically anything one would need to treat minor injuries to severe wounds. Basically I can treat anything that's not going to require major surgery.
>>
>>56911598
You're not going to be treating much with it on your back like that. And don't tell me you're just going to feel around back there and grab the right stuff. Typically you want a blowout kit on your person either in a belt/fannypack/dangler, a smaller booboo kit for minor things somewhere else, and anything beyond that goes in a pack.

What about them, they are heavier than the Colossus at the same thickness, and stop nothing more than standard 30-06 AP, for the same price. They are fine for what they are, but in the greater context of "what could this ~600 dollars buy me platewise" its not a good buy anymore. It falls into a zone where it is not the lightest, strongest or wierdest (flexible).

Can we talk rucks?

I’ve been conditioned into believing that I always want my ruck under 40# but that’s just not possible with water and ammo.

>under 40#
For how long? In what season? Including what auxiliary gear?
>>
>>56917611
All-season just in case I have to split from my vehicle. Relatively indefinitely is the idea.

Cold weather, wet weather gear, socks, undies, a pair of pants, sleep system, then sustainment stuff like fire, batteries, 550 cord, e-tool, and axe is getting replaced with a foldy saw.

Ammo and water weight not included.

I’ve done heavy weight over long distances with kit, it’s nothing short of miserable, but hopefully I’ll never need to bail from my car

They don’t have removable front flaps or the Crye panel suite interoperability but they come with a three mag front shingle and used to be cheaper - that was the draw.
There are some quality of life improvements the 2.0 made (stretch plate bags, back panel suite compatibility) but there’s are also some redundant features that don’t get used much - even in real life - (shoulder bean doffing system)

You're not making that light weight.
>>
>>56917868
I’m trying to keep as bare minimum as I can while still keeping everything I would need for long term survivability
>>
>>56917722
you need to get rid of redundancies. the axe and e-tool is one you already identified. cold weather gear and wet weather gear should be able to layer with each other. spare underwear usually goes uneeded and spare socks can be kept to a minimum with wool ones. spare pants can be a part of cold/wet gear.

sleep system can be very light if you don't care about hiding and use ultralight backpacking gear. food/water can just be a jar of peanut butter, electrolyte packets, and a sawyer filter to sustain water source. fire kit should be reliable and not for comfy camping with the in-laws. a bic disposable kept close to base layers or skin will function in all conditions barring extreme cold the mini blowtorches will also be hotter and work in the wind. tinder can be the cheap firestarters found in every outdoors section. is the ammo for people or animals? people, a spare mag. animals, you need a way to process meat and there was no knife listed in the kit.

if you don't do anything retarded, this will buy you at least a weeks time

See, I like the 2.0 better. But I think it's truly personal preference, honestly. I liked I could buy their pack and it works and mix and match. Plus it just werks lol. There are a lot of people who enjoy the 1.0 better, again, I think it boils down to what you want and/or need.

You should really think about what your mission here is. You said this is incase you got seperated from your vehicle. You shurely werent driving around aimlessly were you? Where were you going? How long do you need to go there? Can you store additional gear at your destination? or somewhere near by? You will not walk 100miles with gear to sustain you indefinately and if you did it would ruin your pace, at some point you hit deminishing returns with more gear. Leave additional gear like food at the destination, embrace the suck for 3 days walking there, by not taking 12000kcal but only 5000.
If your endgoal is just go innawoods and bushwack for 2 years you should really rethink your life choices.

To anyone still reading this thread, how do you break a maul? Jesus. Ok here is what to do, get any old truck tire with a 16 inch center. Put it where you can walk around it at a arm and maul length 360 degrees. Put wood upright in middle, end grain up. Split aiming withing 2 inches of the edge. Rotate around the tire. Do not reach over split wood to what's behind it - rotate! You will split wood fast. You will not break handles. As wood is split, remove and replace so tire is 60 to 80% full. t. Eagle Scout, woodworker, tool junkie. I split with a 50 year old Stanley maul w/ the original hickory handle that was my dads. About a chord and a half a year. It helps to put a thin slab or plywood at the bottom
>>
>>56907503
Double up socks. Was standard practice in the military year round. Thin material like spandex or pantyhose on the inside and wool on the outside. This is the best way to fight blisters. I have really sweaty feet and it actually makes my feet feel LESS sweaty in the summer believe it or not.

not dumb at all, it's a very good two piece belt. people meme about "aws is the ronin oem" and stuff but you couldn't always buy the same belt from elseware. ronin was one of the first to market a velcro two piece molle belt to civilians. they were outrageously popular before aws, blue alpha gear, and now literally everybody else started selling a molle two piece belt.
the people that say ronin is shit are newfags that only got into gear within the last few years.

This is hilariously incorrect. Tu Lam is a faggot who couldn’t be happy with his admittedly impressive position and track record - who had to continuously exaggerate, lie and steal - not just designs from a VERY common rigger-mod to the LAB belt which has been around forever, the proctor belts, and competitive shooters belts before that - but also stealing issued equipment from conventional uplifts. He’s one of the very few to be banned from JBLM range complex for literally shootings himself in the foot and everything his little swamp-Asian ass does to try and pass himself off as Jomon, is incredibly cringe
The idea that he “was the first to market a two piece belt to civilians” is remarkably false

Looks like https://www.ebay.com/itm/274322070493

I don't know what the deal is though. It's just a chinese ham on the inside with the form factor of pic related.
You can do encrypted comms with anything, RSA has been public since 1968 and beater smartphones with mesh networking capability are like sub $40.

I hated this when I did my military training. Pouches too.

Does anyone know how to get a map in 1:25000 scale? I'd like to be able to select an area and have the map be set to that scale. I could then print out however many sheets as I needed to build the whole map. This site seems to only have a way for me to download pre existing 1:24000 maps at the closest in the areas I'm looking.
>>
>>56935185
got it, thanks for the reply
>>
>>56933953
Your file. I save all my map files in pdf. The plotter allows full page printout and on high quality stock, assuming. Protip, you can hike your ass off a 7.5' series pdq and a higher scale area map is indicated.

What’s the purpose of first aid on your belt? Couldn’t you just fit more shit in an easier to access pouch mounted to a chest rig/plate carrier?

It wasn’t very difficult to ruin. It was good because it was an obscure free speech message board for weapons. Key word here is obscure.
Every faggot in the world has heard of 4chan now, and you can’t even talk about the objective superiority of the Rhodesian Light Infantry and their contributions to tactics and gear without triggering actual trannies, opinionated nogun idiots, and nigger retards.
/k/ is completely over by now and it can’t actually be resurrected. The magic will emerge somewhere else.

I've been here for thirteen years and I dislike Rhodie posting now because of how many teenage /pol/fags see it and then go shoot up walmarts. It's really made it less appealing for me.

Which is a shame, because I loved Rhodieposting.

Has anyone used the north face cat's meow extreme sleeping bag by any chance?
Also the most important piece of gear are your friends
>>
>>56935041
The batch of vests and pouches that ended up on the civilian market got rejected from the army because the stitching glows on night vision. Something to consider.

Super popular in '04? I never had one, but by now advances in synthetic materials have have no doubt eclipes the older models.
