A2 is just salty his equally heavy 20S can't group as well as an MWS with a Rock Creek 5R barrel in it. Have to let the man vent his frustration. I'm obviously an MWS enjoyer, but I've never seen it perform like it did today with 175gr FGMM factory ammo. Barrel really seems to have broken in and settled on that 175gr SMK as its near perfect match.

No conversion necessary, LMT contracts Rock Creek to make its 5R barrels OEM for the MWS and MRP. Not 100% on whether they get the rough barrels from RC and finish them in-house or elsewhere for their rifles, or if RC does the whole thing.

This is a relevant take. Only the diehards were getting aimpoint 2000s and the likes and piggyback mounting them. During the Las Vegas shooting, Stephen Paddock supposedly spent over 3000 rounds of ammunition over the course of 10 minutes from 27 AR-15s with bump stocks, despite the fact that that would have required him to drop a gun after each 30-round magazine was empty and videos from the survivors show that it was a non-stop stream of bullets with a firing rate much higher than a bump stock is capable of producing, coming from multiple locations which appear to be M240 lmgs. After the F.B.I took over the investigation, his house somehow burned down along with all the evidence and photos of his hotel room where he shot from show only about 50 spent shells. Years later, we don't know his motivation and there was strangely no follow-up on the biggest mass shooting in us history. His brother had numerous press interviews where he claimed it made no sense and suspiciously the very next day, he was arrested for possessing hundreds of terabytes of child porn. Supposedly, he stored all that on a 20 year old computer which ran Windows 95, at least according to the photo

In that case, Aimpoint PRO or Aimpoint Duty RDS or Holosun 515. You'll probably want to factor in the cost of a good third party mount for the PRO or 515. The PRO's default mount sits too low, and I simply don't trust Holosun's mounts.

The Holosun can swap between a dot and a circle dot, if you want that EOTech style donut of death.

Ultimately, you'll probably be fine with something like the Aimpoint Duty RDS. It's just a 2 MOA dot, but it comes with a good mount and is really well made, like anything Aimpoint makes.

That's red dot territory. Aimpoint pro is best bang for the budget, but aimpoint is out of stock and rumor is they got hit with a lot of gov contracts. Eotech is another choice and can be found under $500.

Scopes are just crosshair, mil, or moa so universal. If it's specific it will tell you.
>>
>>56165379

That's about the same optic from what I remember. You could even look at the SIG Romeo 5, there's a ton of pretty decent micro red dots on the market now packed with features. Don't get too wrapped around the axle on a reticle for a red dot, for the distances you'd likely be using it at, 300yds and in, you won't need ballistic drops.

Between those 2, I'd get the 403R. I have a couple SIG Romeo 5s that I bought when I first got into ARs. It's basically the same thing as the the Holosun. The optics themselves are fine when you're first learning to shoot. They're actually quite robust. I beat the shit out of my Romeo 5s, and they're still trucking. However, I did eventually ditch the included mounts for ADM mounts, since the mounts that come with all these sub-$300 red dots are the real weak point. The won't break just doing typical range shooting, but one good drop could warp or break them.

As for red vs green dots, I have a Holosun green dot on a Glock 19 and I don't find it to be any better or worse than red. Red does stand out more to most people's eyes, though.

It's just a big x and you adjust drop/windage using dead reconing
>moa
Imperial, the scope is marked in minute of angle. This is 1 inch per 100 yards. You adjust drop/windage based on calculating your ballistics based on barrel and ammo.
>mrad
Metric, the scope is marked in mils. This is 1cm per 100 meters. You adjust drop/windage based on calculating your ballistics based on barrel and ammo.

There are built for scopes like the Acog.

fair enough. i figured the terms "red dot" and "green dot" were enough for someone to figure out the difference
>>
>>56165612
There are a ton of mounts out there. All these Holosun and SIG dots use the Aimpoint Micro mounting footprint. I like ADM mounts:

https://www.admmfg.com/micro-t1-mount

They'll fit on any gun that has picatinny rail, like the AR upper receiver has. As for mount height, you'll probably want lower 1/3 if you're just starting. This means you'll still be able to see your backup sights through the lower third of the optic window, in case you need to use them.

That's the mount they come with. Pretty similar to the Holosuns the other anon is suggesting. It uses the same mounting footprint at the Aimpoint Micro, so there's a bunch of aftermarket mounts to go with if you ever feel like upgrading.

I have MBT2S tniggers in all of my AR-15s, so I put my SSAE tnigger in my AR-10, but today when I was shooting it, it felt too light, i was squeezing off rounds when I meant to just pull to the wall. Does it make sense to put a heavier trigger on a gun with more recoil or do people like light triggers on large frame ARs?
