RBS 70 (Robotsystem 70) is a man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) designed for anti-aircraft warfare in all climate zones.

Made in Sweden. Let that sink in.

Major Advantages:

> Range up to fucking nine kilometers. Beating Stinger easily.

> Unlike the American Stinger system the RBS-70 cant be fooled with flares, Stinger can.

> Guidance system: Laser beam riding missile, therefore no fooling the missile with a flare

That is a game-changer. Like the German RCH155 which can now fire while on the move which the American M109 can not do.

> USbros I dont feel so good, Europe wins again? Why are they just better at engineering?

This a Sprey tier cope. RBS is 1970s tech, deal with it. Thermals doesn't solve that is a 2nd gen guided missile. 3 gens behind but with thermals and comms.
>>
>>56160052
it has been upgraded of course, also the Stinger is also an old system. Doesn't mean anything.

Fact is: Stinger can be confused with flares

Current Stingers have the same sensor as the AIM-9X. You're just strawmanning the current Stinger with redeye/stinger A from the 80s. The cope is strong in this one.

With added UV and a improved version of the rossette. Meanwhile the RBS still uses SACLOS.

The last Stinger can be assisted by external thermal array sensor.
>>
>>56160017
This doesn't seem to fill the same niche as Stinger. With Stinger, you could react to incoming aircraft This thing needs time to set up. So you would need to anticipate incoming aircraft.
>>
>>56160017
Stingers came out in the 80s, so it only took 40 years for someone to beat it.

>Again, your are using a 60s tech upgraded with a digital computer. Keep coping retard.

You have so far completely fail to show a 1960's weapon using AI powered optical target tracking (not even starting on the laser steering ability)
>>
>>56160619
TOW watches an infrared signal on the back of the missile to recognise where it is in relation to where the operator is aiming, and sends a signal to the missile to tell it to steer back towards the operator's line of sight. The launch unit is looking for the IR signal in the direction of the enemy target. This meant with old TOWs, where the IR signal was just a continuous source, dazzlers operating in a similar frequency could be used to confuse the launch unit about where the missile it just fired was, and cause it to send incorrect signals that would steer the missile in the wrong direction.
Later TOWs use a pulsed infrared signal as a level of encryption so the launch unit can recognise the missile in spite of other infrared signals
RBS 70, Starstreak/Martlet etc. shine a laser-beam towards the target and the missile has sensors looking rearward to where the source of the beam is, and uses its own onboard logic to steer in line with the laser and follow where the operator is aiming. Because the sensors are facing the launch position, not the target, the enemy would have to dazzle the incoming missile from behind to confuse it: Which is impossible.
>>
I always love reading threads made by people that lack the self awareness to see their own blatant insecurity

>>56160936
You're just improving an obsolete tech retard. You can add as much glitter and colors as you want, but vanilla optic are a old tech inferior to thermals. That's why even with current processing power nobody except for the eternal British waste its time in SACLOS as AA.
>>
>>56160983
>IR signal was just a continuous source, dazzlers operating in a similar frequency could be used to confuse the launch unit about where the missile it just fired was
Yes, that's how all soft kill APS works, but you have to detect the missile for it be useful. Laser beam riding is trivial to detect because you have to illuminate the target for seconds with a very unique signal.

You can dazzle the cameras or simply fly low enough to have obstacles. A Stinger goes up and track the target from a better angle.

Smoke and clouds (not storms) aren't opaque to IR in most situations.
>Thermal sights see through cloud and smoke.
Anything able to impede a rosette will do the same in a array, the only advantage of array is that using a computer you can discriminate the movements of many objects and filter out flares. You're adding more data rate, nothing more.

Cope levels critical. Amazing how buckbroken you are over this one incident, it's like your kryptonite, and you literally can't refute it except by saying that the people who literally fired the Stinger are all liars. It utterly destroys your argument-- how come the STINGER was able to kill a Su-30? If the Manlet, Starstreak, Piorun, ect are so much better, how come they don't have fast jet kills? It must be because the Ukrainian MOD are liars, even though you're perfectly willing to accept any faint praise they might have for any other system. It's amusing watching you devolve into paranoid delusions in order to cope.

Wait until I tell you that the Stinger is the most successful MANPADS in history in terms of confirmed loss numbers.
