I think the PEQ makes my gun ugly and if there was a viable tiny IR device to stick on the end of it I prolly would.

Only have has a single opportunity to night shoot with it over the last year though and that feels bad.

Optic aside, what are the best upgrades for my cheap PSA for a $500 budget? So far all I've done is electrical tape the trigger pins, stock, and wedge it in the receiver to firm it up. Planning on anti-walk pins, ejector spring, a new pistol grip, possibly an adjustable gas block and JP/clone captured spring.

All wrong. It's because no one is interested in feedback from people who just say what's popular in here but have no actual experience with the products, drills, gear, or setups being discussed. It also seperates criticism from know-nothings trying to stir the pot to people who are actually engaging in conversation.

Posting gun demonstrates you at least participate in the hobby to the extent you can provide feedback on what you own.

>>
No /sqt/ so I'll ask here. I'm nogunz who has been playing too much arma, a lot of scopes like ACOG seem to have ranges for holdover printed directly on the scope, so how does it work? Are the scopes matched to a certain weapon/ammo e.g. M16 shooting whatever the military shoots? Do the companies manufacture a bunch of different scopes for different weapons to have the correct holdover? How does this all work out for an AR enthusiast who might have whatever caliber and barrel length, do you just not use scopes with the holdover ranges etched on the glass itself?

You are about to get bombarded with comments like "sell it start over". Don't do this.

>barrel
Anon what kind of round count are you looking at on an annual basis? What type of shooting do you do?
>handguard
PSA handguards are not good, but also not safety hazards. 7 sided Mlock in the $200 range or quad rail from larue, centurion, BCM, or daniel defense if you want to drop real cash will last you forever and offer plenty of utility.
>trigger
Lowest priority but do a bit of research to make sure it is nested in your lower properly and everything is in spec.
>buffer system
Don't touch this. Inspect for proper assembly. (Pic related PSA lower)
>BCG and upper receiver
Is probably fine forever. Again, a bit of research to make sure it will mesh well with everything and is in spec. Check feed ramps.
>everything you listed
Scratch all of it. Focus on a milspec workhorse rifle. As your first gun don't get carried away tuning it just make it right and robust.

Its all close enough, a hit at 312yd on something set for 300yd is probably just going to drift it by a couple inches at most. These sort of BDCs are for "look! A dude! Shoot em!" not precision rifle engagements. Its why most sniper scopes use a tree in mils or people end up dialing.

#1.
Not only does it come first in the list and carry the number one, but its also the most broadly applicable.
>Dots are easier to shoot than ACOG if you dont train a whole bunch
>Rifle is light weight
>Rifle works all hours (even if you drop MFAL)
>Looks cool
>Small so it can be transported around your house/car where you spend most of your time
>Still enough punch to be carried most places in the lower 48 and not worry about wildlife
>Doesnt have to cost all that much
ACOG implies you are shooting things far away which by definition requires a team. Dot ambusher in his house hitting interlopers from the top of his stairwell before kicking a couch down the stairwell doesnt quite need a team to be annoying.
>>55298331
First off, thank the lord every day im west of the mississipi
Second off, terrain denial and vehicle stops are great usecases for 308
If you have the ability to improve your positions to lock down avenues of travel then a 308 is going to give you a lot of flexibility. Now obviously something like a 300wm or 338 will extend that range but my objective here is practical manportable systems.
And if you had to hand them out your fireteam wouldnt have one dude with a big ass bolt gun and a prayer inside closer spaces
m855a1 exists for that purpose, you can get them for around $2/round, seems more effective than to buy a whole new system

>If you have the ability to improve your positions to lock down avenues of travel then a 308 is going to give you a lot of flexibility. Now obviously something like a 300wm or 338 will extend that range but my objective here is practical manportable systems.

308 is still a pain to carry around, it is hopeless to lug around and will still be largely used for static defense anyways. Most people live in suburbs, they would be fine with a 14-16 inch 556 SPR for that use case.

M855a1 is not magic anon, its still a 62 grain projectile bleeding energy and velocity fairly quick.
14.5 throwing 855a1 is going to be sub 300ftlbs of energy @ 550yd, at 300yd you are under 600ftlbs of energy.
Compare to a random 308 load and you are looking at 300ftlbs >1k yd which is well beyond where it needs to be, especially east coast chud engagement ranges. 300yd its sitting north of 1800ftlbs.
>But da energy not determine da lethality
But da energy do determine the ability to punch through auto glass and deliver lethal wounds at higher angles. da energy do determine the ability to punch through CMU and similar obstacles with fewer rounds.
>308 is still a pain to carry around

Assuming a 5k budget and no nods
Upper:
>SR15 upper $2039
>T2 $650
>Unity FAST T2 $181
>M640 Pro $252
>Some MLOK QD mount $30
>Saker 556k with stamp $965
>Sell KAC irons -$150

>Random decent quality metal lower $99
>CMMG LPK $70
>LWRC Stock kit $150
>MBT 2S $89
>A2Grip $5
>Vickers sling $50
>QD Swivels $60
>SBR Stamp $200
Theres about $4700 including stamp
Leaves you enough money for a blast mitigation device while your can clears and gives you a top of the line rifle. We can go cheaper naturally by stepping off SR15 mountain, stepping down off cool stock land, going down in optics, etc. All this shit is on a gradient. I mean you can get a DSArms mk18 thing for probably 1k stamped without glass/accessories.

Quiver makes me think of carrying multiple of these, its more about enabling capabilities. By them being separate platforms not only do you avoid "1-1000m DO ALL CARBINE" syndrome but you also gain the ability to replace arms lost by attrition or arm people who dont have shit. i.e your buddy rolls up with one shoe and tattered clothes and you gotta go get his rare funko collection and small yappy dog from his house.

There's historical documentation from Afghanistan of MK12s being used as accurate SAWs killing people at 800 on full auto. Also documented kills on semi at that range. Ft/lbs is a meme. Only penetration + expansion/tumbling/fragmentation matter.

Lethality had fuck all to do with the SCAR it's actually (ironically) the mk12's ammo solicitation contract that was the push for a more lethal 5.56. It succeeded btw.

As cool as running through the jungle bounding sounds, 90% of your time is going to be digging holes, pulling water or similar admin tasks. When you arent doing that admin task you are going to be sleeping or pulling security. Pulling security absolutely can be done with 14.5+cog but having a higher mag greater standoff gun is going to just enable so much more in terms of positions and comfort for hours.

Id highly suggest throwing them infront of a traditional TOOB optic if you want to make best use of a clipon thermal. Being able to crisp up the view of the thermal's display and ideally crisp up a reticle will extend the usable range/precision with the setup. ACOG and ELCAN also lack a protruding flat objective bell that seals light light leaks nicely. You will need to carry 100mph tape and a gutted can coozy for such tasks or fall victim to NVG users shooting at the glowing light in the bush.

All that aside, thermals depend entirely on budget.
Post budget.

>>55299534
Absolutely get head mounted NV first
5k puts you at some multi function 640 res units like the RH25. But if youre going to do a clipon id highly suggest a 35-50mm objective weapon mounted unit. Objective size has importance on the max engagement envelope for thermals and really cant be understated.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRVG5u_JslY&feature=emb_title
This video compares a 15mm objective to a 19mm objective and just look at the amount of clarity and pop you get with just 4mm of difference. I really think 25mm in a clipon role is very subpar for longer ranges so id stay clear of multifunction devices.
Either way for larger clipons the CH50/Yoter-C serves me well, a voodoo-M would be a step up from that. Avoid REAP-IR.

Determining source will determine what your filtration and purification needs are.
Fresh mountain springs you Johnny Applessed your way to? Probably fine with a hollow tube filter (gravity, pump, lifestraw).
Muddy puddle outside the local piggly wiggly? You will need a lot of filtration or you will just quickly smoke your sick REI filter.

Your secondary consideration should follow up with a person count. Pumping water with a tiny katadyn is totally cool for like the first guy but buy dude #5 your arms will be falling off and you will have spent far too many calories on it. This is where larger gravity filters, sand filters, etc come into play.

Gravity is king, although it can take time. Big fan of the dual bag systems for 1-3 day use. Unless back-flushed often tube filters will bind up, and usually only last around 1k gallons if your meticulous in back-flushing.
Everyone should have a 5 gallon bucket and the hardware to make African village tier gravity filters at home.
What about making charcoal to maintain your home made gravity filter? Boiling media to prep is doable, cycling out charcoal is the only curiosity I have.

Filters are really really hard because most of them do not filter out viruses but the ones that do are more limited and really can sustain a man for 4 days stretched out to a week or more if rationing and at a lower activity level. Something like a be free and a large bag coupled with a grayl and a spare filter is what I typically use so I am not as limited by what water sources I can choose.

I prefer bolt guns to semi even though semi is objectively superior because of cost reasons. Realistically I'm not going to be stockpiling enough match grade rounds to both take advantage of a precision DMR in .308/CM/.277 and to make it worth having the semi auto capability. It's better to just accept that 70cpr tmks will do 70% of what a bigger caliber gun can and have the capacity to run bulk ammo when needed.

Essentially I'm getting most of what a dmr can do in an SPR but am gaining more rounds stockpiled for the common cartridge shorty all while having a bolt gun to do stuff at longer ranges/ dick around with. Also easier to justify dedicated thermal on such a setup.

it was a good height, i got a chin weld easily. t2 maybe not a chin weld AT THE MOMENT; since youd need an rmr->pic adapter versus the bosses -> micro adapter coming out soon. the added height from mixing adapters might push u that small amount over the chin.
no nods it worked fine for me and wasnt awkward

Literally dont do any of that you stupid fuck just. Youre doing stupid useless shit and wasting money which you obviously cant afford to waste. Buy a vltor a5 buffer kit. Captured shit is stupid, youd do better just buying a sprinco buffer spring than that idiot bait jp shit. Buy nicer sights, plastic mbus is shit and upgrading your sighting system is uhhhh a pretty big upgrade. What the fuck do you mean you taped the pos what the fuck anti walk pins lol that is a bandaid for gaped out egged pinholed machine gun lowers which is a problem you are too poor to ever encounter.

Significantly harder, they dont license them nearly as easily. They take into account proximity, growth, hiring space, supply chain timing, etc.
T. seen several rejected app packets for them

I'm having a crisis, I realized I have too much redundant shit, I'm basically unfucking everything and playing musical optics/peripherals so I can have a dedicated night shortboi, night capable longboi, general purpose carbine, and everything else a clone/novelty thing. I'm fucked waiting for a few WMLs and mounts to come in though, along with my MARS L lower so I can stop looking at MK18/MARSURX anon's guns and wishing I did something like that.

Do you happen to be a 12.5" Chad? We narrowed it down over a few threads to be either be barrel/gas wonkyness or a batch issue.

I even shot some more with an unlubed chamber and I still got a split case.

With these posts I'm more confident it's just Tulammo bad.

You stupid or something? The barrel extension is what contains all the force from the cartridge firing, as long as the bolt locks in the extension you’re gtg.
