There's people trying to sell worthless rotted out buildings in the middle of nowhere for millions. Ideal location since the owner obviously doesn't give a shit, and won't have security. Also they often have some pretty descent pictures... and the exact location so you can check it out on the cadastral map.

No luck on the town, but this fucking creepy bus was along the way. Chris McCandless vibes. Windows were all boarded up, but I shined my weapon light through and only saw decay. There was a metal door into it, which I gave a hard knock on with the gun and got no answer, so I tempted fate and swung it open. My view from the doorway didn't reveal much more, and I was about to go in when I spotted an old, dirty pair of boots lying sideways on the end of a cot, the same way one would put their feet while sleeping. Not sure if it was a hobo, corpse, or just a prank by other forest stalkers, but I wasn't gonna stick around to find out, so I shut the door and GTFO.

As part of START the place was shut down and was turned into a wildlife refuge. As for the trees, I think it was part of some kind of wiring or piping pathway that ran through the floors of the explosive storage complexes

In Finland we have stories about "metsänpeitto", or "Forest-Cloak". It's basically one of those looped spaces -curses where no matter which way you go, you end up back where you started. You keep going in circles. It is as if someone or something has put a spell (magical cloak) over your eyes so you can't see a way out even if you are staring directly at it. Back in the ancient times, it was serious business, because it usually meant that you have been cursed by some forest spirit. There were several ways to break the curse. The best and most sure way was to find (or keep on you) "umpipuu", or "closed wood". A piece of wood that has grown inside itself, forming a loop. To look through that loop you could see the way out of the curse.Another way was to bend over and look between your legs, your head upside down. Then you could see the way out, but you had to walk backwards out of the situation. Otherwise you would just get lost again. So remember these small tips, if it ever happens to you.

About a year ago myself and a couple buddies delved into the tunnels on the abandoned PA highway. Pretty vanilla if I'll be honest, it's not too hard to get there and people ride bikes on it all the time. Still, it was fun to explore and camp in there for a night.

Then when I woke up all startled, I was staring at the exact spot I "landed", since I was camping in the base of the tower. Around that time all of our guys randomly woke up, and we had a visitor who drove up a mountain through two feet of snow at 3 am by themself. Has anyone been to the Hartsville Nuclear Plant in TN? Seems like it'd be a good place to set an expedition but from poking around google maps it seems like there's a decent amount of activity nearby with the prison and recycling company. Too risky?
