You never see IFV equipped with ERA. Why is that? I guess that either was too expensive to do so, or early ERA was too explosive for IFVs even when they would benefit from it more than tanks.

>>
>>53560697
its because they cannot NOT sit on them
>>
>>53560697
Because the IFV is not intended to fight toe-to-toe with tanks or survive anti-tank weapons; its an overtuned solution that would cost too much and bog down the logistics process.

IFVs support infantry. Infantry deals with manpack AT, anything larger like ATGMs should be dealt with before it ranges the IFV with artillery, CAS, etc.
An IFV might survive one or two manpack AT hits, but its not intended to eat missiles and keep trucking the way a tank is. The IFV has infantry dismounts and other armor supporting it and is also more maneuverable than an MBT if used correctly, it shouldn't /need/ to take AT on the chin. MBTs are intended to be able to operate separately either as a task-organized detachment or as a reserve/exploitation force in Russian doctrine so they're expected to be able to survive multiple impacts.

>>

>it shouldn't /need/ to take AT on the chin

That dream died with ubiquitous ATGW. The cost is the real limfac. Infantry don't need to hug AFV in ERA or APS kill range and if some do and die that's an acceptable loss vs. losing what the vehicle does for mobility.

As a result you have an inaccessible engine bay and an IFV that lowered chances of survival from minimal to none
>>
>>53560815
>Because it’s operating around infantry. When ERA goes off things go bad
This. ERA will kill anyone near it. You don't put it on vehicles that primarily transport infantry for that reason. Unless you are Russian and completely retarded...see
>>53560644
HOWEVER I suspect that is actually just Best Korea style decorative cardboard at this stage anyway which we have already seen in Russian ERA(or because somebody stole the explosive) .

Example image is Kontakt 1 but the container is secured by two bolts, a further 4 holds the container together with the explosive element inside of it. So if you want the container with the elements inside, undo the 2 big bolts. If you just want the elements, undo the smaller 4.

Bolting enough armor onto your IFV to make ERA even work, AND an acceptably sized autocannon, AND an ATGM/TOW weapon, AND having enough space for ammo AND enough space to carry dismounts is a pipedream.
Tanks are already too heavy, IFVs cannot really afford to be that heavy as well and still support infantry and scouting roles.

IFV can be equiped with ERA see pic related.
Difference is with Bradley and Warrior to BMP-1/2 is that the former two are made with thicker aluminium. So protection is the same as the steel hulled BMPs, however the hull is stronger to withstand the blast. ERA on BMP-1/2 would breach the hull armor. BMP-3 is made from thick aluminium as well and Russia showed of some ERA fitted prototype but that is vapour ware obviously

McDonald’s isn’t just a fast-food chain—it’s a brilliant $30 billion real-estate company. There are more than 36,000 McDonald’s locations worldwide, but only about five percent of them are company-owned. The rest are franchised out, meaning they’re run by individuals who McDonald’s has contracted to operate them. The franchisee is responsible for all the costs of running the restaurant while also paying McDonald’s for ren. Being able to hand off the costs of running the restaurants is a primary key to McDonald’s success.

Or the fact that if you are next to an IFV when a HEAT round explodes you will still get fucked, after all, with the exception of the front of the HEAT shell, the detonation front of a HEAT shell to the side and rear is similar to that of a normal HE Shell
