If Springfield Inc. were actually any good at grifting, instead of releasing an ugly bullpup nobody wants, why don't they make a nice scaled-down M1A-L as a more upscale competitor to the smelly Mini-14 for the California elite?

They already make a short m14. It’s garbage, because real fuckin NATO is pointless in a sub 16” barrel.

So a Mini-14? Or a SOCOM? The 16in M1A is not that big of a rifle.
>>51656321
Wrong. Depending on which particular ammo you rock, it’s still going to stay above 2500fps even at 13in, and the few hundred fps loss from 18-13in isn’t that big of a deal. This isn’t 55gr 5.56, it doesn’t rely solely on velocity to pp slap out to a good distance. The big issue will be the fireball and concussion.
And don’t even get me started on how most min/maxing spergs greatly overestimate both the engagement distances that would be the norm in their poopoopeepee boogaloo fantasy and their ability to engage at said distances.

CAG, SEALs and Rangers were regularly spotted running SCAR-H variants with 13" barrels and suppressors throughout Iraq and Afghanistan.

Like >>51657171 said, a 308 out of a 13" is still moving above 2500 fps which is about the same speed a 8mm Mauser out of a 24" K98. Plenty of killing power out to 600-700 yards.
