it appears my superiority has led to some controversy
>>

I heard the M&P is heavier and that leads people to think it's better made. Is this true? Is this the same reasoning XD fags use to say their Croat gun is as good as
Glawk? Or does the M&P actually outperform Glock? I've heard of Glock and HK durability/long term tests but can anyone point me to the long term durability of the M&P? I've never come across any info in this capacity.

People normally like M&P because of the ergos and because you get everything you wish your Glock had out of the box for about the same price. The newest M&Ps have great triggers too. I personally prefer the look and feel of the M&P for my full size. But I carry a g43x because I like the size and shape for a ccw.
>>
>>51647158
That doesn't speak to the long term durability and reliability of the firearm though.
>>
>>51647197
Nobody here is going to give you a better answer than the 8 million YouTube torture tests and articles on the subject.
>>
>>51647215
That's the thing there are none for this weapon. For the Glock you can find multiple vetter 150k plus rounds reviews. For the HK P30 there's a 95k review. For the HK45 there's a 60k review, for the HK USP 45 there's a 250k + review. Any long term reviews on the M&P? What little information I've come across so far tends to imply some of the inner parts are prone to breakage
>>
>>51647240
Slide broke after 62K. This is for the 1.0 though.

>>51647280
For the price point and ergos not too shabby. Personally I like the fact they come with a manual safety. I might get one but it seems hard to justify since I already own two Glocks. One for training/competiton and one forty carry/duty.

Its heavy because the frame has a metal chassis inside it, which helps with recoil and reduce the chance of a WML fucking with gun reliability if the screw is tightened too much, which is a known issue with Glocks. I was a Glock fan boy, switched to M&P after the 2.0 release for multiple reasons.
Better grip angle.
No grip hump.
Better grip texture.
Steel sights out of the box.
Better slide serrations.
Steel reinforced chasis which I've notice a difference in recoil.
In my area Glocks are like 200 dollars more.
More aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
Sure, the trigger is not the best but if you toss in a apex trigger it takes it up to a whole new level. It's 2022, no reason to be stuck with Glocks now a days.

Never use manual safeties for pistols. In the heat of the moment, most people forget to take off the manual safety which is why police do not use manual safeties ever. I prefer a passive safety like trigger safety or grip safety.

>>
>>51646980
it's basically indisputable. I shoot Glock constantly, I've got like 4 of them, I'm just too invested to switch because of competitions and stuff. if I were to do it over, I'd just go with the s&w. it's way more comfortable and I like the trigger better.
>>

the cruciform change fucks up using switches. if that matters to you. I was kinda bummed
>>
>>51646980
You say that as if it is difficult.
The only things that glocks are great at are:
1. Cost to performance ratio
2. Reliability through poor upkeep.

They are not bad, but there are hundreds of makes and models that can outperform glocks.

The thing that sold me on the M&P was PistolTraining collectively putting some 62,000 rounds through a single M&P 9 with the occasional lube and bore snake before having any complications. The slide cracked near the ejection port. They sent it to S&W, who said it was fine to keep shooting. PT's lawyers opted to not risk it and they retired the gun.
https://pistol-training.com/mp-endurance-test-ends/

I've had my M&P for over 10 years now, couldn't tell you how many rounds I've put through it. I'm no pro pistol shooter, at best I would visit the range weekly and put 100 rounds down, but most years it's likely averaged 50 rounds a month. I've had enough malfunctions to count on my fingers, a good portion of which has been ammo related, another portion magazine related and occasionally I've not cleaned the gun in so long that it just fails to function properly. I did recently discover that the slide release catch has sheared off the right side of the gun, however the left side which is the one I use is still intact and functional. Other than replacing some parts for Apex parts (springs, hard sear) years ago, I have never had to replace any worn parts like the striker etc.

tl;dr M&P is a good gun
>>
Do M&Ps not jam as much in high stress situations as Glocks? I stopped carrying Glocks because all the bodycam footage of police having their Glocks jam on first shot because they weren't standing in perfect Isosceles stance.
>>
>>51653807
I've heard that for polymer framed guns, accessories on the rail can cause enough warping to induce malfunctions. I personally haven't experienced this with my M&P, I don't know if it's due to me not over tightening it or if it's the inherent design of the 1913 rail compared to Glock's proprietary design perhaps not being as robust.

I think most handguns also have the possibility of "limp wrist" style malfunctions, even though some people have tried to artificially induce them, it is often the case that it will only happen in real world circumstances such as a high stress police shooting.

That said, there is a bodycam video of a cop using an M&P and getting a first round malfunction, so it is not exclusive to Glock.
>>
>>51653852
Yeah seems to be an issue with polymer framed guns.

Not a very scientific test but I'm surprised the M&P had no limp wrist failures here

as i recall, that incident the officer was responding to an incident in a hospital, and the officer literally put his hand behind the slide in such a way it couldn't effectively move which is why is he malfed. and then his glock training went into over-drive as he did tap/rack which caused the stovepipe FTE to get worse. all you need to do with M&P's is rack.

Steel and polymer have an "endurance limit". Aluminum does not, it continuously weakens with more load cycles. Aluminum wears more than steel and polymer. Not a hard task to accomplish. The Glock's only merit is that it just functions normally(sort of) and is cheap, although they really should be half the price for that dog shit.

Sounds like you are upset you can't afford a Glock and went with and Smith and Wesson. Seethe.

they are normally $600 for the stock glock, or rather $650 for a stock glock, and then you have to replace just about everything to have what some might consider a "good gun" which it still wouldn't be, meanwhile hi-points cost like $150 and their sights are set up properly for suppressors which is another thing glocks cannot do. glocks should only cost $50 since they are such shit.
