Your specific situation is fine. I agree with you that you can make 40k with COLA or BAH. But I am arguing that the avg E3 private at the majority of units, without BAH or COLA or any special pay, only make 25k (2100 a month) and that making 40k is not typical.

3 big meals and PBJs between each meal. Your meals should have more fat content as well so you have plenty to burn when you grind hard in the gym. A lot of skinny dudes make the mistake of prioritizing protein content and end up lacking in carbs and fats. Why do you think bodybuilders would pick a massive plate of spaghetti over a ribeye steak?

Rice, chicken, sandwiches, lots of mayonaise and other condiments
extra virgin olive oil
Chickpeas are like 400 calories per normal ass can, you can eat two of those a day pretty cheaply along with other canned kidney beans and such, mixed vegetables for variety
Once you're actually in if you game the DFAC you can get some supremely easy calories

Here's what you can get for dinner at a decent DFAC
Not shown is a gigantic spinach salad with metric tons of toppings and drowned in olive oil (their olive oil is a blend, cut with cheaper shit, not ideal but it does taste better, it's true)
>>
>>51176922
>sweet potato fries

I simply cannot go back to regular fries after eating these babies. Heat up some butter and pour it onto those fries and it's the closest a potato can get to having a crab dinner.
>>
>>51175857
I could live off two, but probably four
This is assuming you're active daily
I like to run or bike or elliptical three times a week if it's not part of my job

>>51176946
Butter is shit and shit for you
Use vegetable spread/butter substitute, tastes just as good and doesn't make you feel like your veins are going to explode
Gives you healthy fats (unsaturated) instead of unhealthy fats (saturated) and cholesterol (kills you)
>>51176946
Just better calories, more vitamins, easy way to soak up the extra grease
I'd also like to note that those phillies were a bit underfilled with meat compared to usual. Not too bad but like maybe 15% less, you can usually expect a little more
I also fork or spoon the rice onto the phillies so I can eat 'em faster and easier with less mess
they absorb all the sauce and shit so I can eat it like a burrito almost
Man I miss the DFAC, don't go on BAS kids

>>51177526

>>
>>51177562
Its exactly the same. Stop listening to /pol/. More people got the vaxx than you think. No one is hurting for new recruits. I would guess another year or 2 before the mandates become part of the norm and forgotten. Covid vaccine booster will just be added to the 14 other random boosters everyone gets jabbed with during basic training.
>>
>>51177562
>how long will this vaccine mandate last
federal court already put it on hold, so it doesn't exist right now technically
No, nothing is competitive, everything is possible, just start your process now.
Motherfuckers really be like "oh I didn't want to wait a month for the contract I wanted to pop up so I took a 6 year contract doing this job I hated, fuck the army"
Meanwhile they were working at taco bell for 3 or 6 months while debating whether they wanted to join or not
Stupid ass 90 IQ impulsive motherfuckers with no concept of delayed gratification are the only reason we can hit manning requirements in any service
>>
>>51177615
I am willing to wait for a contract, its just I have some minor charge from my juvenile years and I had a bad experience years ago when I tried to join the recruiter straight up told me I could never join cause they don't do waivers for drug shit even though I was never convicted of anything and they dropped the charges and it was expunged, he just didn't wanna deal with the waiver process and was basically telling me to fuck off. I don't want to start off bad with my recruiting station near me and have to travel 20 fucking miles to the nearest city over to try their station. it was paraphernalia if your wondering, a weed pipe.
>>
>>51177611
I guarantee, even when this thing subsides, all military personnel will still be taking the shot because it's easier to just keep doing that then go through the administrative bullshit required to remove it from the list of shots. That is why the people that come in here asking about the vaccine are wasting everybody's time. It's never going away for the military, so if you won't join until it goes away, you just ain't going to join.

>>
>>51177992
>If the Covid shot is worst thing that happens to you, then count your blessings.
I am terrified of having all my opportunities taken away if I get some of the supposedly rare side effects and it fucks with my heart or something. It doesn't matter to them, they'll just discharge me and another will take my place, but for the rest of my life, my career and body will be fucked up. I'll never get another chance at fulfilling my career goals and it won't matter to anybody but me, I'd be stuck with some shitty wagie job until I finally blow my head off.

>>51186126
An infantry PL is expected to be a visible symbol of leadership, both in character and in fitness. While you aren't expected to be an Olympian, you are expected to be the fittest man in your platoon, or at least very close. Armor, FA, and FO officers are expected to be fit but not quite in the same way.
>>
>>51185856
350F here. I accept chief, sir, guy, hero, anon.
>>51186126
Yes to both, for O1-O3 because that is literally all they care about. How you look in uniform, and how you score on your fitness tests. They harp them on bullshit about needing to be physically better than the enlisted for some convoluted psychological reasons (there is actually a paper on this floating around). My advice, just focus on getting high fitness scores and keeping your body healthy and flexible.
>>
>>51186177
You have clearly never been in an infantry unit. They're never the fittest person in the unit, not by a long shot.

350F Here. You should apply for job posts like the below for recent grads while you talk and pursue any officer job with the AF reserves/ANG (I assumed you only want AF since you mentioned AFOQT. Becoming an officer in any branch is a long ass process. So you should have backups and contingencies in case it doesnt work out. Also, you should study for the AFOQT, its not the ASVAB (which should be studied for regardless of how well you think you will do).

I've always dreamed about joining the Navy and Navy Seals specifically. I now know that is an unattainable goal for me but I'd still like to serve my nation. My only problem is that I'm worried about how I'd be treated by my peers.

350F here. Yup. Like I always say, Officer first, Soldier/Sailor/Marine/etc. second, and job third.
>>51186430
Go for it if thats what you want to do. Just do your research and prepare for it before you even talk to a recruiter. As far as being worried about how you will be treated by your peers, just be friendly and put in some level of effort to socially interact and you will be fine.
>>
>>51186430
I'd encourage you to look into SFAS instead. From what I've heard there's a fixed number of slots for new SEALs each year, so many of those who pass BUDS don't get selected.
>>
>>51185000
This. If I wanted I could go up to the union hall with my older brother and start an apprenticeship as an Iron worker. Im choosing not to do that because that same brother served, as did my cousin, grandpa and great uncle. I see it kind of a right of passage. And besides, why pay for college myself?
>>
>>51186489
I'm worried about my physical safety. For a few years in high school I had to deal with getting into fights and sexual harassment because of a hormone disorder. Everything is mostly corrected but I still feel nervous about being in that type of environment again.

This isn't the 90s anymore. If you wanna be a SEAL you go into that shit fresh off the street.

They may not always be the fittest guy in the platoon, but they're definitely one of the fittest. They should be able to lead the fast ability group run easily. Also not nearly as many people enlist in the guard with even undergrads as that anon would have you think. The stats in the ANG get published annually and like 8% of people E-5 and below have undergrads or higher.

Gullible retards who fall for the bullshit lies SNCO predecessors tell their juniors for why they should stay enlisted for 20 years.

>Coast Guard
>military
Pick one. Hint: water pigs are cops, not military.
>>
>>51195242
The only people who hate the Coast Guard are cocaine smugglers and 32 ASVAB retards butthurt that they spent their whole contract as combat arms sweeping a motor pool.
>>
>>51195252
>sucking cop dick
>>
>>51195252
And yet......CG isnt military.
>>
>>51195348
So? They fall under DHS but can partially merge with the Department of the Navy during times of war, and coasties have seen action overseas in multiple wars (most notably Vietnam). I don't really understand what point you are trying to make because literally nobody in the Coast Guard gives a fuck what you think and pretty much all of us taking the big DoD dick think well of coasties. They're the only guys that are actually doing their jobs right now.
>>
>>51195348
So? There's no wars so no one else is actually doing anything.
>>
>>51195417
So does the US Public Health Services, NOAA, FBI, DEA, etc.
>>51195524
My unit still goes on monthly deployments for port opening missions and disaster relief missions. Peace time doesnt stop the military from doing shit.
>>
>>51195564
And all of those agencies play a role in the protection of the United States of America, same as the Coast Guard and every branch of the military.
>>
>>51195581
Except those are NOT military, just like the CG. Cope more about not being able to sign up for an actual military branch.
>>
>>51195602
Oh I get it, you're just pretending to be retarded.
>>
>>51195624
And you are pretending the CG is military, please leave the MILITARY enlistment general.

Yeah, but the SNCOs, they're the ones who think their apple phone is, in their own words, the superior race.

For career? Air Force. We're at peace and most of every career is spent under peacetime conditions so it is wise to avoid getting shat on (unless you LIKE getting shat on). Then beg or fellate your way to a European or Japanese duty station and extend as long as possible. Like previous post-war eras rot sets in for a few years and those who went to war will have promotion advantage where that matters. AF cares far less.

Plan for a career even if you don't plan to stay to keep your options open. Retirement then being work-optional is glorious and I've been on vacation since 2007. Those who care (or got in debt or just love the work) go contractor/DoD/Lockmart/depot civilian/GSwhatever and can double dip without penalty on their second retirement. You'll be old in five minutes so plan not to work the second half of your life then savor freedom.

God no. Never lock shit down when both of you are mental infants. First Sergeants have enough drama to deal with as it is. I only did temp First Shirt and don't envy them having to deal with mistakes of horny retards. Fuk and run. Fast.

>>51175151
Pics or it didn't happen. IRL we just spread semen into the thots envious locals wish they could plow (and more than a few they'd not fuck with a rented dick).

>>51175412
The wise never did. I read Bernard Fall as a little kid and knew the score long before enlisting (so I went USAF). Good times in West Germany and would gleefully do again even if it meant loading toddlers into napalm cans with a wood chipper. (Most travel pods were made from nape cans so the side door makes that easy.)

The military is full of right wingers and you're clearly a moron. The woke surface is mostly a smokescreen and noobs have no idea we've been through this multiple fucking times before including the 1960s. (Muh ancient SNCO retired-in-1970s bros educated me thereon.) Nothing is new.

Cholesterol won't help your rating and heart attacks (I failed to check mine but cardio saved my ass so all I got was a stent) are exasperating. Feels like an engine block between your nipples ya can't lift off but too painfully distracting to be scary. (Not a bad way to die either if you're into that.)

Autismally detailed medical documentation and learning VAspeak is not milspeak or civilianspeak will help your rating because they help you appeal your rating as I did. Periodically obtain hard copies (on fucking paper) of your medical records and cling to them like Biden to a babby. Study sites like vawatchdog and the hadit.com forums where fellow G.I.s active and retired share shit you had damn well better study like it's for a promotion.

Vaccines ain't shit but rednecks are really easy for the original schizo antivaxxers to manipulate. I remember when all they had was mimeographed sheets to pass out at flea markets. Somehow they mind-melded with white trash and the rest is hilarious history. I got Pfizered by Uncle Sugar and J&Jed locally (they don't crosscheck databases). Believing everything you read on /pol is absurd but I enjoy trolling retards there and QAnon was epic lulz.

>>51177615
>Stupid ass 90 IQ impulsive motherfuckers with no concept of delayed gratification are the only reason we can hit manning requirements in any service

So it has ever been.

>>51177930
The military does not defend the Constitution but vaccines aren't what you think. Stay a civilian as you share two delusions and will be disappointed by the military (and crazy is REALLY annoying to co-workers). ALL vaccines and drugs and everything else has side effects but humans suck at counting and are even worse at risk evaluation. You want to risk getting killed, maimed, TBIed, PTSDed but a little shot scares you that's been approved not just by the US but its enemies who have far more reason to worry?

Wagie jobs can make money if you're not stupid.

As of now, I love my job, and I can’t imagine anything else lighting a fire under my ass like what I currently do. If I weren’t wanting to get married, I’d totally go career. However, my girlfriend wants to live close to home when we start having kids, and that’s not going to be an option for active duty. Is my only option to leave the relationship or the military? I don’t know if I’ll ever find someone like my girlfriend again.
