That way the enemy hesitates to shoot, because they fear they are shooting friendlies.

Probably a mixture of convergent evolution and American media

Partly because those SF soldiers all grew up playing call of duty and watching American movies so naturally, they all idolise the western tacticool operator look and want to look that way as well.
But mostly it's because that shit unironically really "just works" better than whatever antiquated cold war era trash the regular militaries of Russia or China type third world shitholes are forced to use, and SF units actually have the budget to afford stuff that is actually worth a damn (or cheaply made local copies of said stuff)
>>
>>50816981
Given that most SF units are glorified swat teams, they don't really have the need for that sort of stuff.
>>
>>50815396
Because everyone copies Americans. We're the world leaders.

Real life issues are not the same as in Pokemon. Sorry buddy but people won't please your aesthetic views in any way.

Baseline has been established after two decades of battle testing and standardization in tactics and doctrine resulted.

Until there is some generational improvement in weight, battery life, ballistics, armor, comms, or night vision, everything is pretty much reached a plateau; with only minor adjustments and improvements.

Really it is the battery issue that is holding everything back. We've reached the limits of the capability of light infantry. And in all reality, when the concept of a powered soldier becomes feasible, they will just focus on removing the human factor entirely in favor of robotic drone soldiers. There will still always be light infantry but in all likelihood the general issue soldier of 50 years from now will look pretty much the same as today, barring any paradigm shifts.
>>
>>50815396
Why would they ever do a photo op that shows either unique capabilities or anything else of relevance?
The PR stunt already worked. You see guys dressed in Multicam with cell identifiers and you think special forces. Which in your language means DA teams.

>why every tank have a big gun and strong armor on the front
>why every self-propelled howitzer have a roughly 15cm bore
>why every passenger plane be a tube with wings in the middle
>why every car have round wheels

People do the meta, anon. Especially when lives are on the line.

butt its an extra layer of tackety-kool for only $3.99 per can at Walmart so only $12 plus tax for 3 color CUSTOM pattern.

IMO diff units should all create custom rattle can patterns from a group of approved colors of Walmart camo paint. They would all be basically same camo but you'd be able to tell which unit was which at close range even in dark.

There are places where you can design your own plaid for your own kilt so each unit could have its own plaid pattern. Plaids are a whole fucking thing so you could have patterns that show which "army group", division, regiment, etc down to several levels and you could instantly "read" the pattern for both unit and rank, and other shit like skills or "MOS" or even medical info like blood type and NKDA

Not just recently, look at line infantry, or the spread of Cataphracts out of Persia from China to Rome. Where units of Cataphracts could be found from Korea, to Britain. If an idea is good I mean really good, it will spread.
>>
>>50818005
In what way? I feel like both of my points - That is that American media and the global military presence are extremely impactful in at least partly influencing the conceptions of what modern military should look like; and that the generic modern SF look is so widespread precisely because it "just works" - are pretty reasonable.
I am not implying that the non-US militaries are less capable or inferior in any way (except the budgetary constraints obviously). I am not even an American (or westerner for that matter).

They "ultimate" special forces don't have names or a consistent uniform.

If your talking specialized soldiers its due to a variety of factors, most gear for example is designed by 2 or 3 countries and then copied by several others. Monkey see monkey do.
